Tiny portions. Not a ton of flavor. Not cheap. I don't like signing the check while discussing what we can make to eat when we get home to fill us up. Not worth it

I was super excited to learn that there was now a Thai place close to Burke, especially because I just moved from Maryland and I was missing my amazing local Thai joint. I really really really wanted to love Celadon, not just because it is close, but because they DELIVER. Not too many places around here do, so I thought that was pretty amazing.....that said I wasn't too surprised that this place lived up to the yelp reviews. I was beyond disappointed. I went with the chicken massaman curry and the chicken was dry and overdone, there were like two potatoes, and the sauce was tasteless. I hated the spring rolls and will never order them again. The kanom jeep (shrimp dumplings) weren't very good either. I was having dinner with my family and my Mom loved her shrimp pad thai....but it can be kind of hard to mess that up. My Dad liked his extra spicy basil chicken, but I'm not sure that I can bring myself to order from here again.

I gave it one extra star because it does deliver.......but I don't think that I will order from here again.
(We picked up our order, but based on the pictures of the restaurant it is nice inside)

Slow and not very good service. Asked for tea pot with 3 cups, and waitress only brought out 2 cups and commented that the tea only comes with 2 cups. Give me a break, what's one more cup. Portion is skimpy. Most dishes are too salty. Not dining here anymore.

Picked up take out dinner from this place. The shrimp pad thai had no flavor to it. Very bland. The Spring Rolls were also rather tasteless but crispy. The Green Curry with tofu and veggies was the highlight of the meal. The green curry was SPICY and had a really nice kick to it. The curry itself also wasn't too watery or too thick. I could have used more variety of vegetables but it was not a deal breaker.

The waitstaff was very friendly though and the decor is nice. Modern but homey at the same time.

I still prefer Thai Cafe on Loisdale Rd.

Came here for lunch because it was close by. Service was slow and the chicken red curry I ordered was mediocre. Next time I'll take the extra 10 minutes and drive to Thai Cafe.

Portion is too small. So so food for the price. Would not go again.

We love Thai food and went to Celedon frequently when it first opened. It has since dropped in portion size and quality. We used to like their vegetarian Pad Thai. The portions shrunk dramatically and last time it had one skimpy piece of tofu. We have stopped going there.

That place is the smack down. The basil chicken is delicious and the steamed dumplings are great as well.

We live in West Springfield and we love this place! The food is always top notch and the staff is so friendly and welcoming. We eat here at least once a week. We usually get take out or delivery but dining in is always a nice experience. They have a great wine list and the atmosphere is always relaxing. We are so glad we have Celadon in our neighborhood.

Great lunch specials, never crowded and plenty of fun themed entrees to choose from. at some times there seems to be miscommunication between the service and staff and kitchen, but that does not detract from the quality of the customer service that is provided.

We've eaten here a couple times in the past month. We ate in one night, and got delivery (!) another night. Everything we've had has been great - pad thai, spring rolls, shrimp pad krapow and chicken pad khing sohd. We tried to get the fresh garden rolls twice, and were told that they were out of them both times :( - maybe next time? When we ate in, we each got an extra side of steamed veggies - it was a good portion and rounded out our entrees nicely. Delivery was prompt, although we both thought that the portions seemed a tad smaller than when we ate in at the restaurant. Brown rice on the side is a huge plus!! We will definitely be back!!

I love Celadon and am a regular here. The food and service is good. You can't go wrong with the curry puffs or pineapple fried rice. Some of our favorites are the Pad Woon Sen, Massaman & Panang curries. Too bad I can't get them to deliver to my apartment :-(

My husband and I have been fans of Celadon since they opened...my childrren (who are 6 and 4 and incredibly picky eaters) love eating here as well (they like the wonton soup, chicken satay and smiling tiger beef). This is definitely the best Thai in the area and would recommend to anyone living nearby.

It's a step up from most of the local restaurants in Springfield. The decor is very nice but the food is only adequate.

Weirdest chicken dish I ever ate. Do not waste your time, money, or appetite on this one. Staff is rude and not accommodating, would not let us use the bathroom beacuse it was 15 minutes before they closed and it was being cleaned!

The BEST Shrimp Pad Thai Ever! The Decor is so cool too!

Not terrible, but not great either. A true "OK".

I've been there on several occasions, including lunch.
Their Tom Khaa Gai soup is consistently extremely sour. The flavor of galanga, kaffir and lemongrass is there, but it's almost inedible. The chicken is often dry. Some of the main dishes are very sweet. For example, red curry chicken from the lunch menu.

All in all, the decor is cool, your meal is presented beautifully, but frequently the food is missing that umph. Apparently, menu is overpriced because of the interior, not because of the superior quality of food. In my opinion, Thai food is all about the delicate balance and it's just not there. So every time I eat at Celadon, I remember, why I'm not a frequent diner here.

This spot is a lovely surprise for the Burke/Springfield area that is seriously lacking in quality restaurants.

I have dined here a number of times. Each time the food was always fresh, service was prompt, and it was quite the enjoyable experience.

Menu Highlights:

Appetizers: Sundried Beef, Spring Rolls, Garden Rolls

Main Course: Pad Thai, Pad Prig Khing (My favorite), Pad Pak Ruam, the
duck is also excellent..

Dessert: SAVE ROOM FOR DESSERT! The mangos and sticky rice
is delicious and they also have a pineapple and ice
cream dessert that is worth it too!

My only qualm is having to convince the wait staff that I truly want my food to me "thai hot". However, heat lovers deal with this issue at most Thai spots they frequent, so it's really not a big deal.

This place is ok, it's good enough and in a convenient enough spot for me to go for my thai cravings. Their thai tea is subpar.

I highly will recommend their curries however, they are tasty and basically on the same level of quality as any other thai restaurant. The service is generally ok, nothing too great nothing too bad about it.

Best thing about this restaurant is that it's within walking distance to my house. I went here last night because my friend wanted Thai food and I had a first year anniversary coupon (buy one entree, get one free) that came in the mail. Seriously, unless you have a coupon, this place isn't worth it. The food isn't terrible; it's just that there are so, so many other better options.

We started with a appetizer sampler that had chicken satay, crispy veggie roll and shrimp dumplings. These were all good, but nothing special. I got the Thai Style Country Chicken that came with sticky rice and a special dipping sauce. The chicken was cooked nicely, but the special dipping sauce was a mere sweet and sour sauce with a little bit of a kick...really?!? And the sticky rice was not up to par at all. Also, my Mango Daquiri was heavy on the mango and ice, but light on the rum.

Based on food alone, this places gets 2 stars, but the decor is nice and the service is good too, so I'll up it to 2.5.

I'll come back, but only when I'm craving Thai and don't feel like driving. Or I have a decent coupon.

My wife and I love this place. We struggle to find any decent restaurants in the Springfield/Burke area, so we are delighted to have Celadon nearby. We've had nothing but great experiences here. Currys are wonderful, the sun-dried beef fried rice is incredible, and the chicken curry puffs are to die for. They have a great Papaya salad as well. We mostly take advantage of their free delivery, but enjoy eating at the restaurant as well.

Best restaurant in the area, by far!

We tried this restaurant on a lark. My boyfriend knows I like Thai food and he's starting to get a feel for it.

Celadon is in the middle of a busy strip mall, but once inside, the hustle and bustle of the strip mall atmosphere melts away. The restaurant itself is small, maybe seating 50 or so diners. We got there early, before 5, and had no trouble getting a seat.

The server gave us some wonderful suggestions and we tried one of the featured appetizers... beef satay. We were not disappointed. The beef itself was VERY tender and flavorful.

We both got the shrimp pad thai-- a staple for me in any new Thai restaurant and it was awesome! The favors were complex and delicious!

The waitstaff was attentive without being overbearing.

Overall, with the food, atmosphere and quality of service, this was a winning experience.

Came here today for a quick lunch with my girlfriends.... We decided to try this place because it was convenient for one of our girlfriend. Anyways, it was my first time there so here's what I observed....

1) The interior design & decoration was pretty neat & modernized = very soothing & refreshing to walk into

2 ) I ordered the Red Chicken Curry off the lunch special & first impression was it smelled like butts... even my friend sitting across from me agreed so.... But I still chowed down & I guess as you go along... you get used to it ....

3) I like their plates & bowls but the soup bowl is too hard to dig into!!!!! The rice bowl is really cute & made me smile when I saw them! But yes, the soup bowl can be a struggle for one to get the LAST drop of their TOM YUM GONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

It was okay... nothing screamed out "special" & is hunting for my name to go back to anytime soon....

Taking into account the decor, service and food, I think this place gets 3 stars. The food was all right; it wasn't anything special. There are other Thai places I like better. Fyi- the food took awhile to come out for a Friday evening. I'm unsure why- we ordered spring rolls, tom yum soup, 2 pad thais and a chicken dish off the specials menu.

For Tom Yum soup lovers, I think their soup had the correct amount of sour and spiciness.

Plain and simple, I LOVE this place! I've enjoyed Thai food for many years, but have had quite a difficult time finding places that were "worthy." We lived in the Seattle area for almost three years before coming back to Northern VA, and I never found good Thai food there.

In Northern VA, I always used to visit this wonderful little Thai place in Herndon; never finding any other as good, until now. Celadon has wonderful hot Jasmine tea to accompany their nicely spiced dishes. So far, my absolute favourite dish is the Sweet Basil Tofu (with chile spices for a perfect heat level).

Yes, they have a bar, but I didn't try any of the "good " drinks, just the hot and cold teas, club soda and diet soda.

Yes, they offer take out, or delivery within a couple mile radius. I haven't ordered delivery yet, but I certainly will at some point!!!

HIGHLY recommend giving this restaurant a try!

After dining there for lunch and dinner these past 2 months, I have to say, that their food is really good! We've sat at the bar during the busy dinner hours and I've also gone for lunch a few times. The food has always exceeded my expectations. The service was good today!

I will be checking to see if they have started their delivery service. I do see quite a few people for pickup and we may try that soon!

I really wanted to love this place, but after two visits I'm convinced that the food is only meh. The pad thai is bland and has very little sauce in it. The first time I tried it, I told the server that and asked for some fish sauce or something to give it more flavor, but they didn't seem to understand my complaint. The chicken in the pad thai was not bad, but also tasteless. I wasn't impressed with the chicken satay, either. The beef kaprow was a little better. The presentation of the food is always great, but the flavor just isn't there.

The service has been fine, but when they're busy you get seated in tables that are uncomfortably close together, and if they're not busy, the staff hanging around seem to stare a bit too much.

It's a shame because they did such a great job on the decor and atmosphere. Even the bathroom is beautiful. And they play Iron Chef on the TV.

LOVE this place. We've gone several time a month since they opened and it's so hard to decide what to order as everything is so good! My favorites are the seafood dishes. I usually don't care for squid or octopus in my seafood as they tend to be rather rubbery in texture, but Celadon nails it every time, they always arrive tender. The scallops always sweet and the shrimp never over done. The salmon and mango is quite good, as are all the noodle dishes and the curries, especially the Massaman curry with tofu and vegetables.

When we have out of town guests we tend to take them to Celadon for at least one dinner. I have one dear friend with Celiac as well as numerous other food sensitivities and eating out with her can be quite an ordeal, but not here, she quickly identified several items she was able to enjoy and loved the salmon and mango with steamed rice.

We live just a half mile away and this place has become our go to Thai place. It does get extremely crowded on Friday and Saturday nights, so we tend to plan accordingly.

Oh, goodness. Here is my update on Celadon and sadly, they've been pushed down to 2.5 stars. Of my Thai food options in Northern Virginia, Celadon most definitely would not be a "go to" for solid Thai food. Service was alright, the restaurant itself was still as fabulous as ever, but this time I did give the food a try.

Although the presentation was excellent, the food itself was seriously lacking. My Tom Yum Soup was about lukewarm - lame. I also had one of their lunch specials, the chicken fried rice, which came with a spring roll. The spring roll? Also barely warm. The chicken fried rice was a bit of a let down as well - kind of on the bland side...which is when I called for the spice tray, which boosted it up a bit.

Sure, presentation is key (which they have nailed) but honestly, after the three seconds I'm done looking at my food, it's all going to the same place and it better be yum. I don't know, maybe Celadon is a hit-or-miss kind of restaurant.

I was very impressed with the food here. The Tom Kha Gai soup was delectable, the "Fresh Garden Rolls" certainly held up to their name, and the Shrimp Green Curry was yummy, although not as spicy as I hoped. Because I am only 3 miles away (the limit to their delivery service) I am actually waiting on Red Shrimp curry, soup and the basic Pad Thai. Although I was surprised by the prices when I stepped into the formal dining room located off a strip mall, the gain in my belly justified the loss in my wallet.

One downside for me is that they don't accept checks. Have some faith in your customers! Maybe soon they will...

Ok first off let me say wow to the atmosphere! For a Springfield/Burke Thai restaurant I would compare this to a DC Top Thai restaurant. The presentation of food is exquisite! I uploaded pictures, the restrooms are single seat, nothing special. I look forward to trying the vegetarian duck!

I visited within the first 10 days that they opened which was around mid-July. They were having some start up issues related to service. However, the food was fantastic. I've been back several times since then and the service has vastly improved. The Larb Gai, Summer Rolls and Curry are outstanding. It's my favorite local restaurant. Go and enjoy.

We went to the Celadon Thai restaurant on a Sunday with a group of five (family and friend) and ordered off the lunch menu.. Everyone in our party found the food delicious, the service efficient and very friendly, and the decor truly beautiful.

I had the won ton soup and crab fried rice and both were spectacularly good. Others in our group ate family style from plates of Thai food and everybody felt that their food was delicious and presented in a tasteful way.

We will definitely return as often as possible from our homes in Alexandria.

"Lunch menu or regular menu?" is how you're greeted at this new and very pretty strip mall restaurant near the Whole Food Market. My lunch was delicious but I'm suggesting that they greet diners in a friendly manner and give them both menus, without a choice....let them read everything!

My lunch from the lunch menu included an appetizer spring roll that was crispy but lacked a flavorful filling - I recommend passing this up so does that mean I want to choose from the regular menu for lunch next time? see how confusing it can be! Now for my great selection: Pad See Ew was chicken and broad noodles with pieces of broccoli (could be leaves, not the flower clusters) in a sweet soy sauce. It was so delicious that I saved half for my husband to taste at dinner and so he can tell me if it's broccoli indeed. I loved this dish and look forward to going back to Celadon for pad thai, of course.

As for those $7.95 luncheon specials, my lunch including a $2 tip came to $14 because they charge $2.50 for plain, unsweetened ice tea and no refill was offered. Go for the regular menu-sized portions and I'm sure their prices will make sense, I hope.

update 9-14-2010: Celadon has become our favorite casual, neighborhood restaurant for dinner because the chef really knows how to prepare fish and we love the grilled salmon with the mango sauce($16) and the steamed sea bass ($20). I'm really surprised that we now have 'thai' favorites that don't include 'pad'. Another yelper mentioned his disappointment with the spring rolls and I agree, I expect something "plumper" and this did taste like lettuce with a bit of fresh mint . For a 25% off (up to $10) of the second similarly priced entree - coupon, go to http://couponclipper.com. Even without a coupon, based on my dining experiences, the quality of the food and the friendly service. this is a wonderful place to eat. Be prepared to wait for a table!

We had some family and friends over for dinner, and we all agreed we wanted to try the new Thai restaurant. We called in a huge order, and the woman we spoke to was very polite and clear. Several of the items we ordered had the word "Celadon" in the title, just like the name of the restaurant. They told us it would be ready in 45 minutes - kind of a long time for carry out, but we were willing to wait.

When we arrived to pick up our order, the restaurant had no idea who we were and said we'd never called in an order. They accused us of having called another restaurant by accident, but I am 100% certain we were correct. They were unapologetic and just told us we'd have to wait another 45 minutes if we wanted their food.

We told them no thanks and went to Hunan West, as their Thai selection is quite tasty. Sorry I can't review the food, but apparently our order wasn't important to them.

I live in the Springfield area and when my family and I go out for Thai, we usually leave Springfield. So I was really excited to try Celadon when it opened.

The decor is simple, modern, and beautiful - not a combination you usually find in Springfield since most restaurants have generally been there for 10+ years. I was also really impressed by how smoothly everything went considering they've only been open for a little over a week now.

I got Thai Iced Tea, Duck Curry, and the Creme Brulee for dessert. Some people judge Thai places by their Thai Iced Tea, or their Pad Thai, or their Drunken Noodles. I got to taste all three, and all three were really good. The curry was also really satisfying, I was pleasantly surprised by how they incorporated lychee in it! It was so good! OH, another nice touch is that they offer brown rice in addition to the standard jasmine rice for all the healthy conscious folks!

All in all, I'm very happy they decided to open here and I will definitely go back!

Celadon Thai was the answer to my prayers. My cousins and I have long hoped for a thai restaurant in the West Springfield area. It didn't even have to be a spectacular restaurant, we just needed one to exist period since there aren't any. So when Celadon opened last week, we jumped at the chance to try it. We were blown away!

The food was exquisite. I ate my favorite thai curry: Massamun. It was well seasoned. I could've used a bit more spice, but as I usually do at all Thai restaurants, I asked for the spice tray and added my own spice to my dish. My cousin ordered the Kra Pow dish with eggplant, and it was phenomenal. Probably the best kra pow sauce I've ever had at any Thai restaurant.

On top of all this, I decided to order Thai Iced tea as my drink. Thai Iced Tea is a delicious favorite drink of mine at most Thai restaurants, but I usually refrain from ordering it because it's generally expensive and you don't get much of it, nor do you get refills. But at Celadon, I was given a large glass of the delicious drink.

All in all, Celadon surpassed all my expectations. I may never eat anything else in the West Springfield area now that I know that authentic thai cuisine is so nearby.
