This is a good place to chill with a drink and smoke a cigar. Vibe depends on the customers and what is on the television. Bartenders, servers, and the people working in the cigar store are all extremely nice and willing to recommend a cigar and drink to go with it. It is very different stands out amongst the pubs and bars in the area.
Review Source:This is by far the best cigar shop I have been to in St. Louis (disclaimer: I have not been up to the Hill Cigar Co). Â Great humidor not crowded with flavored items like another chop on this list. and a selection of whiskeys to smile over.
If you are close by swing in and enjoy either a Short Story  or a Nub and a Arberg neat for a quick drop in...or if your wife and mother-in-law are wandering around Washington shopping grab a Aroma de Cuba Mi Amor and enjoy the long lasting slow smoke with ..well a doube Arberg neat :) I like the Islay so sue me.
Asthmatics beware. Where there is smoke, there is cigar in this place. I didn't meet Charles P. Stanley but I like his style. This wood drenched lounge on Wash Ave. is the spot for a more adult outing then what the strip normally offers. I even spied a Cards player in a comfy booth when I was there.
For the aficiando, the walk in humidor is pretty swank and has lots of selections. It has  neat scotch selection and beer if that's your speed. Interesting place for a low key evening.
Husband really enjoyed finding this place as we walked around St. Louis. He purchased a cigar and we sat at the bar so he could enjoy it. I was able to sit so that I could avoid the smoke, there seemed to be a pretty good ventilation system. All the men seemed very happy enjoying their cigars and drinks. Friendly service. Great bathroom. I figure the ladies room doesn't get used too much.
Review Source:Great atmosphere with ample seating, great selection of Bourbon, Scotch and Cognac. I tried a macanudo maduro 1997 recommended by Kevin. It was great cigar that was strong with a smooth flavor and smoke. The service here was great with very friendly and helpful staff. If I am in Saint Louis again I will make sure to visit.
Review Source:Walking in this place makes you feel like you just moved up in the world. Â A full bar and a full humidor make for a pleasant welcome. Â The plush seats make it feel a step (or two) above other places.
The bartender and manager were both super friendly and helped us in our birthday celebration adventures. Â Cigars and beverages were had and enjoyed! Â My buddy crashed pretty hard after his cigar but made a firm recovery after my wife brought in some pizza for him.
I can't wait to go back!
Disclaimer before I say anything. This is a cigar bar... It is smokey.... It smells like cigars. (should go without saying but hey)
This is a very comfortable place to sit and catch up with friends, talk about life or watch a little bit of sports.
They have a great scotch selection and the bartender is extremely knowledgeable.
Same goes for the cigar shop. The guy in there will answer any question is really just  wants you to enjoy the cigar you purchase.
For the cigar regular you will appreciate the cigar ash trays and cedar plank for lighting.
Overall a great experience if you want to sit back have a drink and smoke a good cigar.
Let me first start off by stating this is an amazing cigar bar/lounge...truly a spot for any cigar/scotch enthusiast....but one of the owners (Pat) is very pretentious and hollow...it's all over his face...he only speaks to you when he feels there is something to gain...We hang at a lot of cigar bars and lounges around St. Louis/Metro East Area. As professionals and more importantly...a paying customer; you expect and demand more...a simply "hello" would suffice...
The ambiance is incredible...you won't be disappointed....as always..Rob and Doug (Bartender/Mngr) are great....We were out celebrating pre Valentine's Day...and decided to stop in...like we always do...if it wasn't for the bartenders...we would've left earlier...the owner made us feel unwanted...didn't speak...he looked right at us...cleaned everyone's ashtray except ours....like a previous reviewer stated...it seems he is only there to talk to women....
Lastly...again this is an incredible spot...but the ventilation needs work...I expect smoke..in fact I love it...I delayed lighting my smoke because I had to let my eyes adjust to the smoke (true cigar smokers know what I'm talking about)...its freaking smothering...I don't want to feel like I'm sitting atop a smoke stack when I'm trying to relax and blow one back...
Great cigars and great drinks...I would give this place five stars easily if it wasn't for the other issues....I love this place
This is a great place to come with a group of friends, hang out and enjoy some drinks and cigars. I myself am not a smoker, but I enjoy the smell of cigars, and greatly enjoyed the ambiance.
It is hard to throw out much else other than what the others have said. There are a couple of areas of sofas/chairs around a TV, plus several booths. In the middle, there is a nice bar with a wide selection of beer and liquor.
The selection of cigars inside the walk-in humidor was impressive. I can't really comment on the price of cigars, because I don't know much about them, but they had a wide range of prices to fit pretty much every price point.
The one thing keeping them from a five-star review, was the guy running the humidor, who I think was the owner (I think his name was Rob?). He had a terrible attitude all night and was generally pretty snippy with people, especially people who went in the humidor with a lit cigar (a nice sign on the door would have taken care of that problem, and that would have stopped people from bringing them in - even though he himself was doing it on several occasions). If he cleans up his attitude, then this place gets five stars with no question. Other than him though, you can't go wrong!
This place is pretty damn sweet.
They have comfy booths throughout, although the black leather seats by the front window are definitely the best, and the bartenders will circulate around the room to take drink orders and clear off ashtrays, although I found that I couldn't coordinate the timing of an empty glass and a roaming bartender. Â
Low key vibe for most of Friday night, with some good 90's music, although there was a about an hour when it got pretty crowded and the air got thick with smoke. Â Otherwise, the ventilation was pretty good and a little live music here would just make it about perfect. Â
Prices of the cigars in the humidor was just a bit above what you'd find elsewhere, but it is convenient and they had a nice selection, a lot of the Rocky Patel's (who's apparently visited the place judging by the photo and an autograph), but also many others. Â And a not a bad selection of scotch either.
All in all, a great place to chill out and be a man.
Quick Tip: If you don't like the smell of cigar smoke, stay away! Then again, why would you be coming to a cigar bar if you didn't mind the smell?
Now, to get away from the obvious. Â I was here on the day of the grand opening and it hasn't changed one bit (except it's a lot busier!). Â The atmosphere is very lively, with maybe an older business crowd as the demographic (at least Monday-Wednesday). Â They have a good selection of beers and a HUGE selection of cigars. Â The staff is very knowledgeable with their cigars and they provide many cutters / lighters / ash trays throughout the place.
The establishment has comfortable couches (when you can get one!), a few big screen tv's, and comfortable seating booths. They used to have a coat rack right when you walk in through the first set of doors, before you enter the main room of smoke, but now they have the wardrobe inside. Â Whether or not this is for safety reasons, I'd prefer the coat rack to be as far away from the smoke as possible. Â But hey, like I said in the beginning of the review, if you can't take the smell of cigar smoke, then stay away! Otherwise, go off to Stanley's to enjoy a nice relaxing night.
I am sitting at the bar smoking an Alec Bradley Prensado as I write this. Â If you are in St. Louis, and looking for an enjoyable way to spend a few hours, this is your spot. EXCELLENT humidor with expert advice. Â I like to try something different at a cigar bar. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by Patrick Stanley who invited me into his substantial humidor. I discussed my likes with him, and he made a couple of recommendations, one of which was the Prensado. Â Wow. He told me that if he recommends a cigar, and you don't like it, the next one's on him--that's top-shelf customer service. My only suggestion for improvement is to beef up the draft beer selection with some IPAs. Â But, hey, i 'm a west coast beer snob. I would recommend the Stanley Cigar Bar without hesitation.
Review Source:Ok I am a business man from Los Angeles and I am thoroughly impressed with this Cigar bar!
1) LA needs to take a page out of the book on how an first class place should cater to ladies and gentleman fond of the Tobacco wrapper!
2) This place  has a 1000 different cigars to choose from with a fine selection of liquors to choose from!
3)I learned about this place word of mouth and that's the best way to get introduced to this place ...look for a guy named "Rob"
4) The ambience is nice with great places to sit and views of Washington Ave from the corner with huge windows giving you the illusion that you have arrived to a big town.
5) The people...friendlier than LA! That speaks volumes!
St. Louis definitely has many things but this place is one place to be proud about!!!!
So the reason for the four stars you ask???
Just need more selection of Rums for a Caribbean guy like me!!
Anytime I am in St. Louis ..you can find me at Charles P. Stanleys!
I have to say that this place is a gem!! They have a great atmosphere, comfy leather chairs, numerous flat screens, a large walk in humidor with an excellent selection and a great bar with a nice selection of wine. We chose theCigar Zin that is a nice compliment to the Rocky Patel cigars that the beautiful Cigar Goddess Sarah and I chose.
I must compliment the staff and the patrons, all were knowledgeable and friendly. More than a few people directed to Bealle on Broadway for an excellent night of live music.
We are looking forward to returning on our next trip to St. Louis.
This place is just ok. I had high hopes, but was somewhat disappointed. Problems for me included: mediocre beer selection (i'd expect far better from a place attempting to cater to a more sophisticated clientele), long wait to pee due to only one restroom, no food, and worst of all, the guy in the humidor pulled the ole' switcheroo on me, showing me several cigars in varying price ranges and assuming that the one I pointed at to have him ring up was the most expensive one he showed me. Â I didn't realize that I was charged $16 for this cigar instead of $6 until later in the night. Â I don't mind paying extra for higher quality, but I'm in no way a cigar afficionado, so if I ever shell out $16 for a rolled smoking product, it better contain some funk.
I still think this is a cool idea, and the decor is very nice. Â Hopefully the exemption that keeps them in business can be extended beyond its current end date, because I think people for the most part enjoy this place. Â Perhaps the owners will consider opening a second location in Clayton for obvious reasons (e.g. thugs).
Stanley's is where I want to retire and never leave. I consider myself knowledgeable in the field of Cigar bars; my brother is an owner/operator of one. This is a fine cigar bar.
Let's begin with the humidor. It is large, well maintained and stocked with all of the brands you would expect. A hardcore aficionado is not going to find his Ãœber-exclusive brands here, but he will find good quality brands with cigars from the bottom to the top of that line.
After choosing a cigar, you can pay for it or have it added to your bar tab. It is important to note that you can bring your own cigar, or a cigarette, to Stanley's to enjoy with drinks. At the bar you will find a decent selection of liquors, wine and beer; but you can tell most come to Stanley's for the smoke. I would consider the drink prices a bit above average, but this is probably necessary for their type of business.
The atmosphere is a mix of old Havana smoking lounge mixed with a classy New York cigar bar. The ceilings are incredibly high, which helps reduce the smokiness. There are large windows that look out onto Washington Ave. and a huge cigar mural painted on the left wall. You can choose to hangout in the leather chairs, at the bar, or at the high-tops scattered around the room. Â I have probably visited Stanley's 10 times; I have never found it packed with people, but always buzzing.
The staff is always friendly, and the owners are great. They are always there to answer your cigar questions and get feedback about their business. I am thankful that I have this oasis near my home where I can indulge in nearly all my vices in one fell swoop. Â
One suggestion: open on Sundays!
Not what I thought it was going to be. Â I am of the school of cigar smokers that doesn't like to mix cigarette and cigar smoke. Â Unfortunately for me I didn't notice until after I bought my cigar, an Arturo Fuente Hemingway Cigar. Â The humidor is great, very nice selection and after coming from San Diego, everything looked like it was on sale, great prices. Â
You have to purchase your cigar first and then migrate into the lounge bar area. Â I'm used to smaller venues wherein you smoke and drink and pay later. Â I can't imagine that this bar will learn your name anytime soon, maybe a little big for that. Â Not to worry, Guinness and Fuente will take care of my problems. Â
It's a great location and I love the layout, large leather chairs surrounding a big screen, bar seating and tables and chairs, you'll find a great spot to sit. Â I really enjoyed the view as I toked away, large plate glass windows let in plenty of the city lights and sights. Â
Will I come back, YES. Â I love being able to smoke and drink. Â It's a few blocks away from most of the hotels downtown so I can imagine there will be a lot a migrating business men stopping in on their way south. Â As I'm here on business I fit into this category well.
As a new joint, I'm sure they'll only get better!!
Okay, these guys are new, so I'm giving them a three because there's room for improvement--they're not quite to the level of most cigar bars in other cities. But they're off to a good start. And thank goodness there's finally a place in the City to enjoy a cigar.
We stopped by around midnight on Saturday, which probably isn't the best time to judge the bar or the crowd. Bar service was a little slow, but improved as the hour got later.
Drink prices are fantastic. Any time you can get an outstanding single malt such as Cragganmore or Talisker for around $12 a glass, life is good.
Mark, the guy running the humidor, is amazing. He knows his sticks, understands his offerings and delivers good advice based on your likes and dislikes, not what he wants to sell.
Cigar selection was good, but expected. This will probably improve over time. Â But every price range, taste and size are well represented, with the major players in the cigar biz well represented.
We brought a couple of our own sticks and purchased two more while we were at the place. The cigars were purchased were perfectly seasoned and stored at the proper humidity levels -- again a tribute to the humidor setup.
Seating is comfy. Â The music and vibe of the place was a bit loud, but again, this was a Saturday night and the crowd wasn't too thick with real cigar smokers. There were a lot of "puffers" in the room. But everyone has to start somewhere.
I'm excited about this venue. Let's hope it grows and improves. It's a great place that should get even better. Â
More reviews to come. I know I'll be back, cigars in-hand.
This place is fantastic. Â They have an incredible cigar selection with a knowledgeable and helpful staff who will help you find a great cigar whether you've never smoked before or you've been smoking your whole life. Â They also have a great liquor and beer selection with extremely reasonable prices, especially for a bar downtown. Â The decor is fantastic with plenty of seating at the bar plus a number of big, comfy leather chairs and sofas. Â The smokiness isn't bad either due to the high ceilings and excellent vent systems. Â They have several big screen TVs making it a great place to watch a game too.
They don't have a food menu, but they allow outside food to be delivered like pizza or items from Mosaic next door.
The only downside is that the ventilation system uses cool air, so it can get a little chilly inside. Â Otherwise this place is a wonderful change of pace and I hope they continue to do well.
Made it down the street in the drizzle to Charles P Stanley Cigar Bar after ditching the fuzz in an alley leaving the Yelp Roaring 20's event. Â The place definitely has that lounge appeal, no music really to speak of, two bartenders ready to serve and nice wood accents throughout. When I first walked into the place I thought I was going to be somewhat overwhelmed by smoke but actually the air was clear with only the low hum of the ventilation system. Â The place has great high ceilings which I think assisted with keeping the place relatively nice for non-smoking patrons as the smoke would just be sucked straight into the vents and disappear.
The humidor is locked by keypad but the bartenders are very personable and will assist you. Â The prices are in line with most of the cigar shops around town. Â I think I paid about a dollar more for my Cohiba which I didn't think was too bad. Â
Along with a center island bar there are tables and chairs setup and large comfy leather couches. Â It was great visiting with some new people from the Yelp event and we all had a great time talking and enjoying our smokes. Â
A lot of guys at my work like to enjoy cigars so when I told them of the place we have immediately started making plans for our next happy hour foray and I cannot wait to come back.
Been twice so far and that is only the tip of the iceberg. Â This place is great!! Â A haven for cigar smokers. Â The guys and gals manning the bar are professionals as well as a good group of people. Â They make an effort to remember names and faces as well as create conversations. Â
The cigar selection was great for me. Â Had my favs: Patel Bros, Â Cain, Oliva, La Gloria. with talks of many more brands. Â The bar is big with plenty of space. Â The leather chairs are comfy, the booths are a nice touch and the tvs make it all come together. Â Cigar prices are fair, drinks are a little high though. Â Initially i was put off cause they "measured" my drink, but that did not last.
No food, but you can order from any of the nearby places and bring it over.
Overall if you are a cigar smoker, Â you need to visit to experience this. Â And its sad we are so excited about this cause it should have happened so long ago. Â .
I concur with Timothy G. One word for this place PLUSH, well for Saint Louis it is. There is a nice selection of Bourbon,Single Barrel Scotch and of course cigars. I am not a big beer drinker so this works for me. The cigar prices are fair too, ranging from $3.25 and up. They have a great filter system so the air doesn't get really that  thick but yes you just might come out smelling like, well CIGAR. Just like if you go to a greasy diner you will probably come out smelling like a .....GREASY DINER. But you walk out happy, satisfied and eventually get over it. This a beautiful addition to Saint Louis in itself.
