The Dubliner

Let me start by saying I'm a fan of Irish pubs. But have to say this one is way down on my list in St. Louis. The draft list is small. As are the food portions, especially appetizers. The Leinster House Wings, for example, are laughably tiny. The entrees are decent enough if you're starving. If you decide to go, sit at the bar, have a few pints, then hit dinner elsewhere on Washington.

The food was okay but the bar tender (an older guy) was an idiot. He was very rude and seem to me very racist. I came in with my Arabic bf. He avoided looking at him, walked away in the middle of his order and told him was multitasking by helping other people at the same time. A friend came in to sit with us and he asked her name and kept calling her by her name and being very friendly to her. Once the food was delivered we were without silverware. When my bf asked for some he said "eat with your hands" and walked away. Few minutes later he brought silverware. He continued to speak with my friend using her first name while avoiding us and make jokes that were not funny at all. We got burgers with salad. The burgers were fine but the salads were terrible. It was wilted lettuce with watery ranch sauce. The fries were amazing though.

I LOVE this place! The vibe. The strong sloppy drinks. I am usually shit faced when it's time to leave.... I stumble back to my hotel room sloppy... slurring, but feeling oh so lovely. I pretty much forget that I am walking around at 3am on the streets of STL and being as I'm originally FROM STL I know that is very dangerous. BUT I gives no fucks and I stumble... talk to other stumbling people and make my way to my bed, waking up usually with a serious hang over. I do this EVERY year. My BF LOVES this place also... he isn't from STL but I bring and he always makes sure we come to Dubliner. I love the live bands... its loud at first but once I have a few drinks things mellow out and I no longer care about the band.
