Let me start by saying I'm a fan of Irish pubs. But have to say this one is way down on my list in St. Louis. The draft list is small. As are the food portions, especially appetizers. The Leinster House Wings, for example, are laughably tiny. The entrees are decent enough if you're starving. If you decide to go, sit at the bar, have a few pints, then hit dinner elsewhere on Washington.

The food was okay but the bar tender (an older guy) was an idiot. He was very rude and seem to me very racist. I came in with my Arabic bf. He avoided looking at him, walked away in the middle of his order and told him was multitasking by helping other people at the same time. A friend came in to sit with us and he asked her name and kept calling her by her name and being very friendly to her. Once the food was delivered we were without silverware. When my bf asked for some he said "eat with your hands" and walked away. Few minutes later he brought silverware. He continued to speak with my friend using her first name while avoiding us and make jokes that were not funny at all. We got burgers with salad. The burgers were fine but the salads were terrible. It was wilted lettuce with watery ranch sauce. The fries were amazing though.

I LOVE this place! The vibe. The strong sloppy drinks. I am usually shit faced when it's time to leave.... I stumble back to my hotel room sloppy... slurring, but feeling oh so lovely. I pretty much forget that I am walking around at 3am on the streets of STL and being as I'm originally FROM STL I know that is very dangerous. BUT I gives no fucks and I stumble... talk to other stumbling people and make my way to my bed, waking up usually with a serious hang over. I do this EVERY year. My BF LOVES this place also... he isn't from STL but I bring and he always makes sure we come to Dubliner. I love the live bands... its loud at first but once I have a few drinks things mellow out and I no longer care about the band.

Visited this place after helping a friend move in to their apt.

It's a typical pub with Irish football team flags and jerseys.

I ordered the fish and chips, which were not bad.

Nothing stands out. They have live music after 9 I think.

The Dubliner is the Irish Pub we always end up at anytime we are out late on Wash Ave.  The bands that they have are usually pretty good. They have a great selection of beers including the local microbrews and your typical Irish Pub beer.

I've came here twice for dinner. Both times I had the Bangers and Mash. I'm completely drawn to the horseradish sauce in it. My friend had the peppercorn burger  and added fried egg and smoked gouda. I have to admit it was pretty tasty even though I thought it was a little dry.

The booths they have here are tall. They make me feel like a 6 year old. I wish they weren't that big, but maybe I just need to eat my Wheaties. They do have some private booths that are nice for a date night. It's just not what I think about when I'm thinking date night. For me, I'm a beer drinker so depending on what date we are on I might think it's ok to come here. First date? Not cool at all.

The service here has always been slow. (I've been here at least ten times at a table) The bartenders are good. They even keep track of where you are even though there are 30 people just standing near the bar talking.

We Irished it up twice on this trip.  Oops.  Oh well!  So I can't say that I was impressed with the decor of the place.  It is huge, but seems really rundown.  We were seated quite quickly and our waitress seemed nice.  The menu didn't seem quite as extensive on Irish food as the other place we went and quite frankly things seemed quite highly priced.  I get it is downtown near the Convention Center, but it kind of puts you off, especially when you are looking at burgers or sandwiches.

I think all of us ended up with burgers or sandwiches and we did start with the Fried Pickles.  I've never had a Fried Pickle, so I was intrigued... if not a little nervous.  Instead of little Pickle Chips, they did the whole spear.  The batter was light, but crispy and you certainly got a taste of the pickle.  Not sure what the sauce was as the pickle overpowers any sauce... quite frankly it doesn't need it.

Anyway, everyone's food looked good and they were decently sized portions.  I had the Green Peppercorn Burger with chips.  The bun the burger came on was not average bun you get at the store in the bread aisle, this was a beautiful bun that was crusty and stood up to the juices and sauces inside.  The Green Peppercorn sauce was interesting, tasty, but not sure it would be on  my list of favourites.  On the side comes lettuce, red onion, and tomato so you can dress your burger how you want.  The burger did crumble a bit, but it was still a little on the juicy side.  The chips were delicious... they are thick cut fries with a deep golden brown colour.  Some of the chips were so long you wonder just how big the potato was that it came from.  Seriously.  The bathrooms were a bit difficult to find and they were a bit on the rundown and grungy side.  Maybe when I am not on a daily stipend, I might opt to come back and try their Corned Beef and Cabbage.

Not from St. Louis. Great service! Bartenders and wait staff were excellent and very helpful! Beer selection is ok and food is decent. I would absolutely come back and would highly recommend the dubliner as a stop on a bar hop down Washington.

Mediocre food.  Good beer selection but, on the whole, prices seemed higher than the quality warranted.  Outdoor seating was nice but you're right on the street.

I've been to the dubliner countless times as part of my med school class outings. It's big, has good beer and is a fun atmosphere to hang out in.
I think my favorite time that I've been though was the trivia night on tuesdays. There was ample room, the bar wasn't too crowded and they had great deals on drinks and appetizers.  I split these delicious potato skins and chicken wings and they were both equally tasty and large portions for an appetizer. Well priced too! I think each one ended up costing around five dollars?
I need to go back soon! Go to the trivia night! It's awesome!

Came to this establishment on a Friday night for a bachelor party.

The place was dark, dinghy, and not well kept. Half empty pints, food plates, and tobacco spit cups littered the corner we migrated to.

The bar area was nicer and I pulled up a stool and ordered a beer. Selection was poor for an Irish pub and when I ordered a Snakebite and Priest Collar they had no idea what I was talking about. These are Guinness approved beer blends!

They did have Bell's Two Hearted Ale, which made me happy. :)

The place had its certain charm, but it could use some TLC.  I even cheered the bartender and said "Slainte", and she shrugged her shoulders and gave me a weird look.

Not very authentic, but not a huge disappointment either. I would go back if you twisted my arm and bought the first round.

I always have such high hopes every time I see the Dubliner, and decide to go back. I've been there three times now, and this was the last.

I realize we're in St Louis, MO, but, if you're going to open an Irish pub, get the fish and chips right. Even more so, fish and chips were made for the poor irishman, not the suit and tie lawyer... meaning, $15 for lunch fish and chips is ridiculous.

On to the food: The chips/fries were good, little less seasoned than I like, but good. The fish was the failure here. While the fish wasn't overcooked, I don't know whether they didn't flip it halfway through or what, but it comes out as one big filet of fish. The problem, is that both ends were cooked perfectly, crisp, and flaky fish. The other 80% middle was a soggy disaster. I ended up taking the soggy breading off and tossing it aside, then ate the fish plain.

I try to stay under $10 for lunch downtown, with plenty of amazing options to choose from in that price range (Sauce on the Side, Tigin, Caruso's), so this was a splurge, with Fish and Chips, one beer, and tip at $27. Definitely overpriced for the food and beer. The one redeeming factor was the server was fantastic, very friendly, hence the second star.

I ate at Tigin yesterday with it being 'Irish Week', about 5 blocks up, do yourself a favor, save some money and get better food up there.

cool Irish bar. food is okay, but the atmosphere really feels Irish. although I have never been to Ireland,  I would imagine this is how it would feel there.
I gave it 4 stars because I think atmosphere is much more important than food in an Irish bar.

A very busy, traditional, and typical sports-esque bar on Washington Avenue. The Dubliner is very large, but is setup so that if you are with a group or just out with a friend there are numerous corners and booths in which to hide for a few hours. The bar is very large, though, so if you are looking for a place to go out and meet new people then this bar offers a great setup for such activities. The best place to sit for drinks, though, is in the loft overlooking the main portion of the bars - a people watcher's heaven!

The drinks were quite strong, but I'm not complaining about that! I ordered a traditional Gin Tonic and followed that with a simple Jack & Coke. Both drinks were well mixed and tasted fine. The price was very reasonable for St. Louis and Washington Ave. Definitely a well put together bar that I will be visiting again.

I was only here for lunch on a weekday so I'll preface that this experience is not necessarily typical...
The portions at this place are pretty large so that's satisfying to know.  Had the Guinness Stew which was hearty and full of good meat and vegetables in a thick stock.  Everyone else at my table enjoyed their lunch so there was no stand outs, but also nothing bad about it.  Service was fine with a friendly and attentive waitress.  The booths though are kinda thrown in the back where it seems the real action happens out in the front area.  The rear has about a half-dozen booths that are dimly lit so it gets that Irish pub atmosphere if that's what you're looking for.
All in all I had no complaints about this for a hearty Irish lunch, and I'd stop there for a beer  if I was in the area later at night.

Popped in for a quick lunch. It was JAMMED due to the 30k women from the Joyce Meyer Conference all trying to eat at the same time. I sat at the bar. The Vegan burger was just ok, but the fries were excellent. Service was friendly and so were the patrons. They have outside seating as well, weather permitting.

This place is ok if you're sitting at the bar.  If not, don't expect to get great service.  The beer is ok, but I'm not a big fan of the food.  It's not awful, but I find myself coming up with reasons not to come here and go elsewhere instead.

The thing that caught my attention and brought me into The Dubliner was the sign outside "Soup of the Day: Whiskey". Yeah, I like that ish'.

Such a great atmosphere at this pub.
    Great service!
    Inexpensive drinks.
    Good fish and chips.
The burgers are great...I added Irish Cheddar and Bacon.

When I'm back in St. Louis, I'll visit again!

I've been living above the Dubliner for the last 4 years.  I actually got burned out on the place a few years ago.  Though, on a recent trip by the front door, something caught my attention.  This mammoth sandwich was drawn in chalk on the board, drawing me in.  This ridiculous sandwich was named The Hot Mess and was the Dubliner's newest food challenge.

I scheduled to take on this food challenge on a Friday at 2pm.  Patrick, the owner, set me up with this 1 lb reuben sandwiching 3 6 oz. burgers which had to be finished in 30 minutes with a lb of fries, a pint of Guinness, and a shot of Jameson.  Not only was this near impossible and I felt like crap after, The meal itself was really good and It would be awesome to share among friends.

If you're the type of person who enjoys a good challenge when it comes to your food, I suggest giving the Dubliner and the Hot Mess a try.  I'll be surprised if you can finish it all.

French Fries!!!!!  YES!  and they were amazing.  No chips.  I loved it.

We sat out side and it was so pleasant, great atmosphere.

I will say this, I had a burger and it was really good, made to perfection and tasted really good.  It was thick and juciy (medium)

My friend ordered a veggie burger and she raved about it all night "The best she has ever had"  "that curry sauce is amazing"  She will be back for sure!

Service was good and we enjoyed a few drinks and had a wonderful time.

Go, next time in the STL area, you won't regret it.

    *Tourist Review*

We were staying at the Renaissance Hotel downtown .. and this is about a block away! Its a little dirty but kinda Irish. Rugby flags, jerseys, Guinness.  The bartender, Bob,  was chatty told us about the owners and his Rugby experience. Before you know it, we're talking with the owner and his Rugby Irishness. A few guinesses later, I'm eating some fried pickle spears (amazing) and a massive plate of mac and cheese that probably could have fed a whole 2nd grade class room. They have a great happy hour and by 5pm we were drunk. As a slight irish whiskey drinker, they had good selection of whiskey. I agree with @Adam H that the bathrooms are a bit of a disappointment but it was the best pee I ever had because I was pretty buzzed.

Probably the worst service I've ever had in my entire life, I'll never come back.

We came here after the Cardinals' victory celebration, and it was decently busy, but not enough to wait for a table.  We waited for our order to come out for about 45 minutes when the waitress came over and told us the kitchen was just getting started because they had forgotten our order and it would be "5 minutes" and apologizes profusely.  About 20 minutes later the waitress remarked, "I'm surprised you guys haven't walked out yet."  Our order comes out about 75 minutes after we ordered, and it is the completely wrong order, not even close.  We tell her we're not willing to pay for it and she goes back and forth relaying to the manager and eventually we agree to pay for one of the three burgers (that we didn't order) which had been brought out.  The manager couldn't even bother to come out for a minute to apologize.

The burger itself was fair with a solid bun, but the service was so horrifically bad that I will never be coming back.  Hopefully the management reads this and corrects the issue.

I was a bit turned off by the interior of the Dubliner. We sat at a high-top in the bar and while the bar area is very large and spacious, there were noticeable holes in the walls, askew pictures, patio umbrellas discarded on the stage, just a general uncared for look. But, our waitress was nice and I liked the old men bartenders with their mustaches and ties. Classic.

The food was ok, but I probably won't be back. I got the fish sandwich and the cod was surprisingly good, but very small compared to the large bun on which it's served. I used half of one side of the bun. A slight annoyance - the plate was way too small for my meal. I tried to move some of the bread around and half the fries fell off my plate. I had a bite of the grilled cheese and it was horrible! Maybe the worst grilled cheese I've ever had. I think it was a blend of a few different types of cheeses on wheat and I believe it was the gouda that really did not blend well on the sandwich. And I'm a gouda fan, just not here.

The only dessert option was bread pudding, so I sampled that. It took awhile to come out and was still a little cool in the middle. It was ok as far as bread pudding goes, but I thought the sauce was a little bitter.

The bar area is incredibly dark. Like I had trouble reading the menu dark. And I think this might be the only bar left in St. Louis that doesn't have an HDTV behind the bar.

The dirtiest restaurant I have ever eaten in. They have hardly swept the floor, much less mopped it.  And the decor items all have dust on them.  No wonder they have low wattage bulbs in the booths...that way you can't tell if your table has been wiped or not.

I lived in the British Isles for two years and the pubs there are clean...

Food at the Dubliner was mediocre.  Bland chicken wings, a watermelon salad that could use some dressing, a pork chop that lacked flavor, a pasta dish where my dining companion asked: "Is there any sauce on this?".

However, the peach and almond tart was excellent...but you have to really like almonds a lot.

Disclaimer: I have only had drinks at the Dubliner.

I visited the Dubliner with a friend pretty late on a Saturday night. It was extremely crowded, mostly with overly drunk 20 somethings. After making my way through masses of people to get up the bar, it took forever to get a drink. The drinks were really overpriced too.  The band they had playing wasn't terrible, just really loud and not what I would choose to listen to.

I have come to the conclusion that The Dubliner is just not for me, at least not late on a Saturday night.

Went to The Dubliner at 7pm on a Saturday night with two other couples, including folks who regularly eat lunch there.

Fortunately, the place was fairly vacant at 7pm which means that we easily found a large booth, and the helpful waiter had few other tables to attend. Unfortunately, the scarcity of customers did not translate to prompt kitchen service. While the drinks came out quickly (which was very good), I believe the food may have actually come from Ireland--it took that long.

Fortunately, everyone enjoyed their meals. The boxty was tasty, the homemade bangers had a unique and pleasant taste and texture, the pork chop was juicy with a wonderful smokey flavor, and the Irish stew lived up to its heritage. Unfortunately, the sides were only so-so. The overly sweet topping on the pork chop detracted rather than enhanced the meat and the accompanying potatoes were burnt enough to be unappealing.

We left before the music began...I'd love to give this place another try. I'll bet the entertainment can offset some of the minor disappointments with the meal.

I have nothing bad to say about this place.  It was seriously so fun.  One drawback might be the slow service because the server was drinking in the bathroom, but this wasn't really a big deal because it was late by that time.  They have a great selection of Irish liquors and beers, and the bottles are hanging upside down around the bar from the ceiling.  Normal bar prices ($6ish I think for beers)

Friday night they had a live band which was AWESOME. I'm not sure how this compares to other nights, but this band was just as good as the bands whose songs they were playing.  Dance floor by the stage was a huge plus for me. Would definitely go back if I were in the area.

I'm giving The Dubliner two stars because what I've seen makes me think their food could be pretty good if they manage to get their act together.  Maybe their act is already together, but it sure wasn't when I went.

A few weeks back I and several friends decided to pop into The Dubliner after running around the City Museum for a while and then wandering through that big Taste event.  The place was occupied but not packed when we showed up.  We walked in and were seated, which was the last thing that went right for the rest of the evening.

Several of us ordered drinks and some of us, me included, ordered water (what with being all dehydrated from running around like idiots).  Those who ordered drinks got them; those who ordered water languished in dry-mouthed misery for an absurdly long time.

We then ordered food.  I had recently eaten a big ol' sausage at Taste and was craving some vegetables so I ordered a chopped salad with chicken.  Several of my friends got the house version of bangers and mash and one person got the scallop salad.  The scallop thing looked okay and my friend testified to the fact that the scallops, while not cooked perfectly, were at least not ridiculously chewy.  The bangers and mash had good flavor and were plated nicely but came out cold (both of them), which is spectacularly not awesome when one is eating sausage.  The salad never showed up at all.

As I slowly went insane, sipping my water and watching my friends eat, the waitress eventually got around to telling me that she had somehow failed make clear to the cooks (or they had failed to grasp?) that I wanted chicken on my salad.  This meant that they were cooking the chicken now and I would have to wait.  I was annoyed about this (I don't go to restaurants to watch other people eat) but I sucked it up.  When, finally, my salad showed up, it was the wrong salad.  I ordered a chopped salad and they brought me a cob salad.  I tried to flag the waitress to let her know and she walked away.  I stood up and tried to get her attention and she just kept going.  I chased her down and told her what the deal was and she looked exasperated before offering me nothing to placate my by then seething temper.  I didn't eat the stupid salad.

When we finally got our checks (an amazing waiting game in itself) and paid, they proceeded to rip off my scallop-eating friend by giving her only the cash part of her change and not the coins.  This meant that they took her for nearly a dollar.  At that point, we were all so disgusted that we just got the hell out.

    I won't be going back.

While in town for a convention, we hit the Dubliner one evening. It was booked as a private party, with HUNDREDS in attendance. The bar tenders had a difficult time keeping up, but they did! And the food (served buffet style) was hot, plentyful and very tasty.
It was the perfect spot to start a long weekend of haunt show partying.
    Great place!
Only con was the place was VERY smokey.

I'm basing this on one visit. So if/when I got back, maybe I'll have a better experience.

Guinness. This is reason alone to visit any establishment, but when you're called "The Dubliner" it better be an excellent pour. Unfortunately, I wouldn't quite use the word "excellent" -- more like "competent." What makes an excellent pour? As Justice Stewart would have said, it's hard to define, but I know it when I taste it.

Having the brain of a 14 year old, the opportunity to order something called "Dingle pastries" was a must. Plus it has lamb, which is a good thing. Unfortunately, these came out lukewarmish. The beautiful wife didn't care for them, but they fell into the "I'm hungry and shall eat what is put be forth me as long as the cheese-product-that-shall-not-be-named is not involved."

Based on other reviews, the atmosphere during a weekend day is dramatically different than the nighttime (at least in the bar area). It was really bright, so it took away any of that close-knit pub vibe.

Service was bordered apathetic. They weren't _that_ busy, and when you're sitting at the bar, an empty pint glass ought to scream out "FILL ME! FILL ME!!!"

Bonus points for having cigars available.

There's something about walking into a restaurant and being engulfed in cigarette smoke that leaves you a bit unappetized. Well, I can't speak for everyone. Some find the smoke inviting, but it surely made me want to walk right out.. Coming from a smoke free city, I guess I've been spoiled!! Will St. Louis be smoke-free one day?

I'm glad I didn't walk out though. Despite the smoke, the Dubliner is a decent place and bigger than appears from the outside, There is a large bar area right up front and cozy bench seating towards the back, with high enough walls to drown out the bar scene, if you're looking for a quiet dinner.

I had the corned beef which was cooked perfectly! The cabbage was a bit over braised, but I'll forgive, as the star of the dish was fantastic. My husband had the duck... holy cow! Okay, okay... holy duck! It was amazing. I would definitely recommend getting the duck- medium. It came with a savory bread pudding and a delightful berry reduction. Yum!

I'll be back, Dubliner, but next time, I'll come prepared to walk out like smoke!

Place is good for drinking. No need to review it, although, I wish there more of a beer selection.

Food is actually very good, seafood trio was great, fish and chips were only missing newspaper to be brit, pot pie was huge,  appetizers great. Love the late-night menu.

I used to make fun of the Irish Bank in SF for having curry with fries. Sure enough, curry is on the menu and it was surprisingly good.

Fuck you, Dubliner--I used to think you were alright (for drinking), but after three straight terrible experiences, I think you're a piece of shit.

In my booze-soaked haze I remember you as indifferent; your culinary "ballsiness" to not serve ketchup in a town that eats everything with ketchup I found to be endearing. I loved the mussel steamers at the side of the bar. I could come here to watch a soccer game.

But the morning after, I've come to find that you've caved and you now serve ketchup. Your mussels taste fishy and rubbery, and your bar is packed with douche bags that enjoy throwing around terms like "kit" and "pitch."

    They call it "futbol."

Not to get all Alan Jackson, but you're not from España--in fact, you've probably never even visited. They're called "uniforms" and "field," poser--and I'm pretty sure its still called soccer in Chesterfield or wherever the fuck you're from.

Throw in some subpar food (to be fair, the salmon was well prepared), some ridiculously terrible service (some of the worst I've had since I moved here; I seriously wanted to pay my tab and leave, but my brother said no), and the audacity to auto-grat my bill after such shoddy service (at 3pm on a Sunday), and I say "fuck off, thanks." I cannot stress enough how terrible my experience was here the last few times, and the last time especially. Maybe if I was drunk, maybe if I was desperate, and maybe if it were the only place on Washington that was open, I'd come back. But that's a hell of a lot of maybes.

Really enjoyed our lunch here.  If you've never had steak tartar ( like me), you are in for a pleasant surprise, it's good!  There were three varieties, paired with cheese and toast rounds.

I had the Irish breakfast, which was sooo good.  Eggs, rashers, tomato and beans, it was so satisfying.  The brown bread was warm and served with Irish butter, and yes there is a difference.  The love of my life had the Salmon Reuben(?!!) and loved it.  Marbled rye bread with a healthy salmon steak, topped with the traditional sour kraut and russian dressing.  As a former NYer, I found this to be sacrilige, but like I said, he loved it.

We sat outside on a sunny Saturday afternoon, and it really seemed that all were enjoying themselves.  If you're ever in St. Louis for some baseball, stop by and enjoy some upscale pub food.

I support this happy marriage of laid-back pub feel with upscale trimmings.

Soft-lit oversized booths line the perimeter of the space... really, these booths feel like Paris at night. ROMANTIC. Though this pub always packs a crowd, its well-planned space never feels crowded.

Our service was a bit slow on a busy Sat. evening, but turns out I was mere moments from a beautifully poured Guinness, with thumbnail head perfection. Some things in life ARE worth the wait.

Fantastic menu reaches beyond the typical pub fare. Live Irish music on the weekends. And they serve Hot Toddys! I've found the quintessential winter pub.

I was recently in St. Louis all week for a trade show and met some colleagues on Wednesday night for drinks. They were already seated and drinking by the time I arrived; I ordered the Hot Whiskey and fell in love with that drink. We hung around for a while chatting then went back to the hotel.

For those of you who've been to the Dubliner you might be wondering why I gave it 1 star. Well, the next night me and some other colleagues walked over to the Dubliner, all while I was telling them how great the pub is. We walked in, grabbed a table and me and a co-worker walked up to the bar. We stood there for at least 10 minutes trying to make eye-contact with the barkeep. There were two bartenders behind the bar and neither ever acknowledged us, nor even made eye-contact. It was so bad that we decided to walk back to the table, grab our jackets and leave. Coincidentally, as we made the decision to leave and step away from the bar the bartender looked at us to take our order, but it was too late at that point. It was kind of embarrassing too because I had hyped it up so much to my co-workers only to be completely ignored.

It wouldn't have taken much on their part to keep us happy, even if they were very busy. All they had to do was acknowledge us and say "i'll be right with you in a minute." That's it! Instead, she was asking existing patrons if they would like a refill and completely ignoring us.

I would not recommend the Dubliner for that reason alone.

No holds bar, the best Irish pub in St. Louis.

The bar is huge, there are massive wooden booths lining the room.  The bar is spacious with tons of seating, and there are GREAT live bands at this place nearly every weekend.  What else could a person ask for?

This bar is almost always packed with people, but somehow it never FEELS packed.  There is ample space, it's not smoky, the bartenders are attentive, and you can order food late.

Speaking of food, this place has an awesome brunch on Sundays.  This is one of my parents favorite haunts for breakfast on the weekends.  I can completely understand why.  This is just like getting breakfast in Ireland...it's seriously this good.

Also, I love the lions that breath smoke and steam during the winter outside the building.  Such an awesome addition to the bar.  Oh, and it's a 3am bar...seriously, this bar is nearly perfection.

Maybe I just don't get out much, but I've never seen bottles of alcohol arranged above the bar like little glass tight rope walkers in a circus. They're upside down, these bottles, and if you put your glass beneath them and push the button, they'll do a dandy trick. They measure an exact amount of liquor into the glass. It's fun to watch, but when I got my very small portions, not nearly as fun to drink.

Still, I tried my first Irish vodka (Boru). It was deeeelish.

I love their beet and goat cheese salad and their salmon with lentils ain't bad either. Once, as she chuckled at her own private joke, my friend offered me a taste of her crubeens. Of course I didn't know they were parts of a piggie's feet and other such things. They were so good. Who knew a pig's random parts could be so tasty (other than the girl who ordered them)?

The space is fantastic. Seriously. Only on Wash Ave. High, high ceilings, polished pub feel, lots of seating and even a room above for live music, complete with a stage that juts out above the lower level. There are darts and flat screens for all the pub-loving blokes, and plenty of aforementioned blokes for the ladies to watch (and play). Works out for everyone.

If I had a 'place where everyone knows my name' it would be The Dubliner. Defected here from Flannery's when it opened and haven't been anywhere else.  Perfect atmosphere, great bar, good blokes behind it and the Smithwicks is perfect.

Go on a weeknight or before 9pm on the weekends, and when no conventions are in town. Otherwise, all the above is null and void.

After previously visiting for dinner and lunch tests, we tried for a busy Friday night.  The hostess reported a 20 wait, which wasn't surprising as the place was packed: tables were filled and the bar was overflowing with people, but the staff appeared comfortable as guests were enjoying their evening.

After our wait, we sat in the high-backed booths, providing some privacy from the other guests and volume of the bar.  Drinks, appetizers, and food were all excellent.  The menu is not very large, but we've been told it'll grow with time.  Make sure you act on any specials suggested by the server, they were an excellent addition.

At 9PM the live Irish music started from the loft stage above the kitchen, which enhanced the overall atmosphere, but also required dinner's conversation be changed to shouting.  The music was entertaining though, and we still took our time with our remaining beverages.

The growing staff appears to have a better hold on the restaurant, and of the 3 visits the latest was the smoothest.
