Manager - CORY - Patronizing and Customer Service Skills

I have been to Copia several times, with groups and my husband only.  My most recent visit was Saturday evening, June 29.  It was the last day to use a Groupon I purchased.  I made the reservation and noted to the reservation taker I would be using a Groupon.  I also informed my server, Nicole, I had a Groupon when she arrived at our table.   My 2 girlfriends and I enjoyed our dinner and wine thoroughly.  Nicole was an excellent server.  However, an issue arose at the time of payment.

Nicole looked at my Groupon - $150 of food and drink for 6 - and stated "I don't think this will work.  I'm sure my manager will not allow this because you are not a party of 6".  Not to belabor the point, I agree our party did not match the stated number on the Group; however, in early March of this year, I dined with a party of 3 using a Groupon for 4 people.  At the March outing our party was advised that as long as the dollar requirement was met without the party size the Groupon could still be used.  Therefore, I assumed (you know what happens when you assume)....

Now enters CORY, who gave us approximately 2 minutes of his undivided attention.  I explained to CORY the inconsistency in the acceptance of Groupons in the establishment.  Given I did not meet the stated requirements on the Groupon regarding party size, I was not going to argue the point but, simply pay the full amount of the bill.

I write this review only to share the LESSON Cory taught me and the girls after his spiel on why the Groupon was not valid...."WHAT CAN I SAY???? NEXT TIME BRING MORE PEOPLE!!!!"

Thanks for the word of advice Cory, lesson learned.

My first "reception"... it was a karaoke party... of the conference was held here.  It looked super cute when we got there, but our party was in the back.  It is a huge area with its own bar and part of the back room is open to the elements, which is nice when it gets packed, but not so great when the wind is blowing everything around.

The guys at the bar were great and so quick at getting everyone their drinks.  I guess in some ways they didn't have to contend with people paying (yup free beer and wine!), but in other ways I could imagine that means people will be trying to have as many drinks as they can.  Seating was a bit hit and miss because they had a buffet area set up.

The food from the buffet, well, it wasn't anything special... there were some kind of fried cheesy balls, sliders that were mostly buns a with a nugget of dried beef, a pastry stuffed with tasteless spinach, super spicy buffalo wings... there was one item that was good, but unfortunately they didn't really fill this item after it ran out, but I think it may have been some BBQ Pulled Pork on either a Blini or tiny potato pancake... not sure, but the small taste I got was enough to make me want more.

So really I am giving stars for the venue and staff because it was a great party, but if the buffet was anything to go by, not sure if I would come back to try any food... especially if it is as pricey as everyone is saying.

The back "patio" is really nice and enjoyable.  The food was ok, as was the service.  But in my mind it was overpriced for the quality.  I'll probably come back, but more for drinks and hanging out than eating dinner.

One other thing, if you order the chocolate cake, I swear it's large enough for 4 people to eat it!  That was the best part of the meal.
