don't get the hot dog.  the fries are skinny so they get cold quickly.  the cheese on the fries is like movie theater nacho cheese.  and the prices are too high...I won't be back to say the least.

Nice atmosphere along the river. However, they do not have a seating list and we happened to go on a crowded day, so the only way to get a table was by awkwardly standing around waiting to see if anyone left.  The burgers are pretty awful, and definitely not what you would expect from the $12 price (which doesn't even include fries). This is a tourist trap that we unfortunately fell into- will not go back.

We needed a close and easy restaurant for dinner on our last night at the Sheraton. I was not sure of this place because of the earlier reviews.

I give it 3 stars because of the setting. Sitting outside and watching river-traffic and people-traffic was great.

The menu was VERY limited. There is no kids menu (which I believe are usually over-rates but come in handy). I saw a family leave because of it.

The service was fine. The cheese burger and fries were good and the hot dog got good reviews. The wine was totally over-priced, but overall the prices were decent.

I'd go back, if I were in a pinch (or lazy). However, there are much better places in Chicago.
The river scenery alone, was worth it.

Decent burger. Limited menu. Nice view along the river walk. Better than McDonAlds

We had dinner here yesterday because part of my birthday goal was to sit in a cafe along the river and enjoy the scenery and a bit of food.  It was an easy walk here from the movie theater and the location and view was perfect.

When we arrived the waiter told us they were closing in 5 minutes.  Yikes, a restaurant that closes at 7:00 on a Saturday night?  Normally I like to weigh my choices, see what else is available and then decide.  And I knew there was an Irish pub in the area.  Instead, I took the bird in the hand and quickly ordered a burger, fries and coke and sat down to enjoy the urban theater that is Chicago  in the summer.

My husband ordered the same.  We really liked our burgers and most of all, we loved the view.  I will pay a lot for a view and have on various bodies of water or on tops of various buildings all over the world.

Were 2 burgers, fries and cokes worth 40.00?  Probably not.  Was the view?  Absolutely!  And I would do it again.  It was only slightly more expensive than the money we spent for the movies/popcorn and nature provided a more dazzling show.

Dinner with a view in Chicago, worth it!

Great burger, juicy and large. We got served quickly and there were no problems with either the service or the food.

I read a bunch of these reviews before I invited six of my friends to meet me in my hotel restaurant for a "baby viewing" dinner party. No one really explained quite how casual this place is. It's not really a restaurant. It's more like a restaurant I would expect to see inside of a museum. It's part cafeteria, part restaurant. There's only, maybe 6 items on the menu? hot dog, hamburger, cheeseburger, turkey burger, fries, cheese fries.

The saving grace to this place is the price, the speed of food (not nessecarily of the service) and the fact that they serve booze: beer and shakes with booze!  I ultimately didn't get the shake with Baileys in it, but I might have to return just for that.

In any event, everyone I was with that had the turkey burger really liked it, very moist and delish. The fries were devoured, so I guess they were pretty good. I wouldn't go out of my way to come back to this place, but it serves it's purpose inside of a hotel as a quick, reasonable place for lunch or early dinner (it closes at 7pm).

There's a big difference from last summer season and this summer season. Last year, the food was really good and this season... it's ok so this is not my first time at this establishment.

Andrew, server, was very prompt to take my order. The menu has a nice selection. I had order a plain cheeseburger, fries and coke. Easy enough.

When the order was brought to me, the burger was with the works. Andrew immediately to it back. At least he apologized. Within a minutes, the meal came back to me without the works - at least it appeared that way. I feel the cooks just took the extra toppings off, re-grilled the burger for a few seconds and reserved it to me. SMALL HINT TO THE COOKS..... no matter how much you reheat something, you still can taste the onions on the product.

The fries and the views are really great.

CBC is better than McDonald's but not as good as M Burger.

I really wouldn't go out of my way to eat at this restaurant again. Sorry.

Here's the deal: for $10 I can run to the grocery store and buy ground beef, fixings and bread and cook a burger to perfection on my home grill. On the rare occasion, circumstances require that I eat a burger out and, honestly, there are a few good contenders in Chicago who have proven they've got what it takes.

This is not one of those places. And, frankly, I don't think they give a rats rump. They're in the base of a huuuuge hotel in a neighborhood throbbing with tourists. Clearly they just don't care about cultivating loyal customers.

The service was painfully horrible. We waited 30 minutes (no emphasis) for the waiter to greet us and take our drink orders. Another 15 for our waiter to tell me they didn't have the beer I had ordered. 30 minutes from order to the time we received our food. 25 minutes from time requested and time we received our cheque. This was one of the rare occasions when I didn't leave a tip. Because it just wasn't the service that was rubbish.

Our burgers were depressingly overcooked. The meat was stale and clearly had spent far too long in a freezer. The food, in a word: boring. Yes, boring even for a burger. And all of this for around $10 per burger.

So, gentle tourists, skip CBC. Go to Billy Goat Tavern or M Burger or, for toast's sake, buy a pound of ground and come to my flat... I'll make you a burger to remember at half the price.

Well.. you don't come here for the food.. it is in a nice location with a view of the river and outdoor seating which is the real reason to come here.  The burgers tasted like something you'd get at a coco's, dennys or some place like that -- flat small patty with not much flavor. They do have some nice options in terms of toppings and the shakes were also pretty decent but if you're looking for a good burger there are much better options.

The City of Chicago is ripe with excellent views and locales from which to dine and enjoy. With that in mind, the premium paid for a burger here is ridiculous. The food is nothing special for the price. Burgers, drinks, and shared fries for two adults and three kids ran us $66.05 before tip. Do yourself a favor and grab something delicious take out and find a bench along the river.

When I review restaurants, I always think of being relative to the type of place it is and, most importantly, value for the dollar.  If I go to a high end place, I expect to pay a lot but I expect and amazing food experience and great service.  If I go to McDonald's, I'm stoked if the tables are clean.

Now... CBC... the food is fine.  I had a bit of everything since we all shared.  The Chicago Dog ($6.50, LOL!!!) was good but I was surprised that it was a regular-sized dog, for $6.50.  Had a burger and a turkey burger.  Gotta say, probably the best turkey burger I've ever had... that was $7, totally fine with the price.  We also had a regular burger, also $7.  Also good, not spectacular (Islands, Chili's, Red Robin are far better)... but, again, $7... not bad.

The service was awful.  Nice guy but he just was never there.  Took forever to come to our table, then went to another table who got there long after we were seated.  The order took a while, then he was vacant throughout the meal, had to flag him down to get the check.  Then had to flag him down to take the payment so we could get outta there and on our way.

If it wasn't for the view, I'd have to give it two stars.  The view is amazing, nothing like sitting there on the river on a warm sunny day, feels very Euro.

All in all, there are a couple other restaurants on the river, near Michigan Avenue (upper and lower, along the river), definitely check those out if you want this amazing view AND solid food and service.

Sat outside on a nice, warm afternoon for lunch, and the worst was that service was slow (I saw the server running around among all the tables, I think the outside area was understaffed, because of the nice weather). My burger and fries were fine, and if you order the carmelized onions (50cents extra), it comes on the side, in a small plastic cup, so you add it yourself to the burger.

I also had an oreo shake, which was just alright (I prefer it when it's not blended up so much that you don't have any cookie chunks anymore), but considering that it was priced at $6.50?? Definitely not worth that amount.

Nice view, right on the riverwalk area.

    Service: 2*
    Burger: 3* (no complaints)
Shake: 2* (when accounting for the fact that it cost that much, but taste alone, it's 3*)

Considering that I was in a conference at the Sheraton all day, and just needed a quick lunch, it served its purpose.

Came down for an afternoon bite shortly after arriving to Chicago, I am glad the rest of my week's dining experiences were nothing like this.

Took over 10 minutes to get a menu, table was dirty and dirtier after I left, waiter(s) were rude. Food would have been ok if it were half the price.

I will avoid in the future.

Honestly, I had the best turkey burger of my life here.. Ok.. I usually don't order Turkey burgers that often and I have not gone to enough Chicago restaurants to compare, so please take this review with a grain of salt.

It was the juiciest, tastiest turkey burger that I have ever had.  I think they put spinach in it and it basically was the moistest (is that a word :))..

I had to just note that, it was a great price, and since I was staying at the Sheraton Hotel where the restaurant is located, it was quite convenient.

Uh, try the Turkey Burger.. it is that good!

Unlike other reviewers, I actually enjoyed my food here.  I got the Braised Beef Sloppy Joe and thought it was great.  I also got the Jalapeno Onion Fries and loved it.  Julia (below) said she got sick from them, but I couldn't get enough.  I took some home, dipped it in with my hot sauce and it was fantastic.  Especially post-beer  :)

The service sucks though.  There's nothing nice I can say about that.  Since I live in the area I can tell how these places work around here.   It's more for people to come, relax and just enjoy the view.  Waiters certainly take their own sweet time.  Unfortunately they don't realize that it's hard to enjoy the view when you're f-ing hungry!

Overall I would recommend you come here and try it out for yourself.  I'll probably hit it a couple times for the jalapeno onion things.  I'm not sure about the rest of it.

As for the prices... of course it's over priced.  Every place downtown Chicago is overpriced!!  I paid $5 for a loaf of bread at Dominicks! If you want cheap, go to the 'burbs... or some other city.

Okay- Is bad or non-service the new trend on the river walk?  After leaving the nearby Irish Pub in a huff, (please see review below) we found this place and thought, "Great, we can just go inside and purchase our beverages with no wait."  We walked in the door and were greeted by no less than four Servers.  We informed them that we just wanted to purchase some beverages, but they insisted that we be seated, and promised that someone would be right with us.

We had a seat and waited.  And waited. At this point we were dehydrated and desperate.  We waited at least fifteen minutes before a server came out and took our order. Several minutes later we finally got served.   I couldn't believe that this was the second restaurant in a row that had such atrocious service.  What is going on?????

I actually thought "Meh" a few times while sitting on the river walk outside the Chicago Burger Company.  The food was a little sub par, the service was very slow, and the price was fairly high for what it was.

My hot dog was totally falling apart.  By the time I was half done with it the soggy bottomed bun was completely useless and I ate the rest deconstructed.  The deep fried pickles I ordered on the side (for an additional $4 on top of my $8 hot dog) were so salty they weren't edible.

The service was painfully slow.  I considered asking if I could help them by getting my own drink or food once or twice.

If you're in the area, you want to sit along the river and eat a meal, and there are no other options available; then try Chicago Burger Company.

The angus burger with mushrooms & carmelized onions was really good, but they need to find a different bread vendor, because their buns are hard (not stale hard, just a hard-type bun). Tip - Bull & Bear has the best buns...um, no pun intended. :)

They were really short staffed, but our server Jose was very attentive, very friendly and you just can't beat the surrounding beauty of having lunch on the Riverwalk.

$4- Blue Moon's was great, but a bottle of Tazo Iced Tea cost me $4.75 - that seemed off.

    What's with the bad rep?

Came here last Sat, with St. Paddy's Day celebrations abounding, and had amazing tater tots and honestly, a pretty good burger. It wasn't Kuma's Corner fancy, just a patty, lettuce, tomatoes, and red onion, but that's all I'd been craving, just a good ol' burger.

    Sadly, overpriced.

The location is nice, right next to the river and close to where I live. The food and drinks are overpriced, but tasty. Burgers don't come with fries, they are separate and once you get fries and a drink for 2 people it comes to about 30 bucks which is a little too expensive for the quality of the food and service. I would eat there again, it was tasty enough but not somewhere I would actively seek out as a regular dining place.

they have blue moon which is good, but its not on tap and they give it to you in a bottle with a plastic cup which is not good.

Your typical burger place, but it's nice cause it's right by the river.

I actually didn't know this restaurant was connected to the Sheraton the first time my friend and I ate here, and who would've expected an average burger joint like this to be attached to such a nice hotel?

The burgers were pretty good, but nothing to write home about.  It hits the spot if you're starving after walking around downtown, but there are far better options at comparable prices in the city.

Plus a star for its location.  Sitting by the river with your burger and beer is quite relaxing here, and it's far enough away from the hustle of Michigan Ave. to be low traffic and peaceful as well.

When there are so many awesome restaurants in Chicago, I wonder how I ended up at this one.  Actually I know - went there for lunch during work.  Blah!  Split a veggie burger that come out cold and mushy.  The "Jalapeno Onion Rings" have a god-awful taste and after taste, and I was convinced I was going to be sick from them.
The only good thing is the view of the Chicago River.  Go for drinks - go eat somewhere else.

Long wait to order.  Long wait to eat.  Burgers were nothing special.  Our server mixed up our bill with someone else's and almost lost our parties $200 mastercard giftcard.  Not a fan, would not recommend.  Only positive is that you can sit on the patio and there is a good view of downtown and the river.

My husband and I stopped by here because the burgers smelled fantastic. I won't make that mistake again. We walked in and were told it was open seating. Okay, not a problem we found the one open table and sat down. After sitting there for 10 minutes I finally decided that it must be a restaurant where you go and order at the counter. I order two burgers with two sides (fries and jalapeno onion sticks) for $30. I was told that they would bring out the food shortly. After waiting 30 minutes for our food I was disappointed to find my burger overcooked (it sucked the moisture out of my mouth) and our sides were cold. As we were waiting and eating we discovered that you don't have to go to the counter and order, apparently you can sometimes actually get a waiter to come to your table.

The restaurant had about 10 wait staff working and mostly they were just tripping over each other. They also all seemed to be having the worst day of their life as most of them looked either homicidal or suicidal. I know that waiting is a hard job, but is it necessary to scowl at all the customers?

People should not complain too much about the $9 burger prices and $4 side of chili given the location here.   Chicago Burger Company is in a high end hotel (Sheraton) and right by Navy Pier and has riverside seating.   The location is going to make the food prices a little higher than normal!  This should be obvious.  This is a decent place to get a burger if you are near it and want some waterside seating with nice views.

I had a burger and chili here.   The burger and toppings were tasty.   Nothing special, but definitely a decent quality burger.  The chili was a small side portion, but just enough to help fill me up and satisfy my chili craving.  The chili was spicy, chunky, and meaty...definitely A-OK.

I will be back here to try either their salmon, veggie, or turkey burger options.  My only complaint about the place is that they don't have any desserts.   They have shakes, but no other options for dessert.

This is an attractive place in the summer and living in Streeterville, hard to walk by everyday and never try.

But oh what a disappointment! Their veggie burger patty was too soft and wouldn't hold together! Now I'm not the burger eater who likes overdone patties either, but each time I bit into this one, 5 other pieces would fall apart.

It was also a little too raw - and gave me a stomach ache. AND SO EXPENSIVE!!

Not a fan and don't want it again even though they're right next to my place!

Some people really need to relax and enjoy a burger once in a while!  I say this a lot, but come on people, have realistic expectations!  This restaurant is a. in a hotel and b. on the Chicago river.  So complaining about price is a bit ridiculous.  It's not THAT expensive.  I had a burger, fries and a drink and it cost $15.  That's a lot for a burger, but it's not a lot for what you get.

The food: I had the turkey burger and my friend had the angus burger.  We got them both medium.  They were both cooked correctly and tasted great.  I got mine with grilled mushrooms and red and poblano peppers.  (You get to choose 2 toppings for free.)  My burger was fantastic.  I would definitely go back and eat the same thing again.  The fries and onion rings were good, nothing to write home about.

The service/the setup: I think it is a bit silly that there is no waiter service for a $15+ dollar meal.  You order at the counter and they give you a number...similar to a say $6 dollar burger place.  Although, they did mess up our order and more than made up for it...for free...so we ended up happy with the service.

OK, first thing first, this is a restaurant on the Chicago river, near the shore, so stop whining about the price.  Not sure what price you were expecting, but you will not find 'cheap' food anywhere in the downtown area, let alone on the river or near the shore.

I ordered the Angus burger, medium rare with caramelized onions and mushrooms and it was the best burger I have had in a long time.  Cooked to perfection and eaten whilst watching the boats glide up the river

9 for a burger really? $4 for a cup of chili really?

At the Chicago Burger Company all burgers are $9, you can get beef, turkey, veggie, salmon, or tuna. I figured the best bang for my dollar was the tuna. Then you ask yourself, what side you want, fries, onion rings, chili. I didn't realize all of these were different prices... a tiny cup or chili was $4.

The best part about this place is sitting outside next to the river and eating.

To top off this lunch I went back to work and was checking my bank account online. The lunch that cost me $14.49 had a pending charge of $17.39... whats the deal with that! I better not get charged an extra $3 for that lunch...

I was seriously disappointed with this place.  My coworkers and I thought that it would be a lovely idea to enjoy lunch on the river.  The sitting by the river part was fantastic, however the restaurant was not.

First, there is no seating by a host so you have to stalk the customers eating their meals and fight your fellow future-patrons for a table.  When we finally met our waiter he was not all that friendly and the service was very slow.

I ordered a veggie burger which I felt like is a pretty safe bet.  I was wrong. The veggie burger was really just squashed black beans and a few kernels of corn mashed into a patty and heated up.  The consistency was disgusting and it felt like I was eating mush.

Also, it's pretty pricey for a burger; my meal was about $13.  However, they are not relying on repeat business since most of the customers are tourists...so I guess they don't have to worry about unsatisfied customers like me.

So of course you are going to be raped on price in a hotel dining experience, but for some reason I was expecting different of a fairly cafeterial looking place.

I'd rather go to a Red Robin any day over this place and get bottomless fries included for less than the cost of just a burger here.

Alas, there was no Red Robin, or anything else for that matter, nearby so I had to eat here twice during my conference.

The first time I got a turkey burger and my coworker got a salmon burger, both with a cup or so of guacamole on them.  The guacamole was fair enough, but not enough to mask the taste of generic patties that were upwards of $10 each.  My coworker had to return his salmon burger because it was too fishy.

The cashier who took our order was rude and short with us, but at least the manager was nice when he brought a replacement veggie burger for my coworker.  The service was also insanely slow.

The next day it was suddenly a table service place instead of order at the counter (what. the. fuck?), and our waiter was good.  I got cheese fries with wilty bacon on them (I prefer my bacon crisp, especially on fries) and a chocolate shake which was very icy instead of creamy.

Also, it is weird that they serve beer and wine.

The short of the matter is, it isn't worth it, try and find someplace else for a quick meal in the area instead of staying in the hotel.  Or suck it up and go to Shula's Steakhouse.

    Review Source:

The setup is... you order at the counter like a cafeteria, choose from beef burger, turkey, veggie.  Or you can have a chicken sandwich.  You get to choose your cheese and two toppings.  Lettuce, tomatoes, red onion and pickle come with.  If you want fries or onion rings, it's $2.5 extra.  Then you take a number and they bring out the burger to you.  Order the onion rings, not the fries.

It's a little pricey.  And it is just a burger.  So what's the deal?  What makes them think that they can sell it at that price and make you pay for the sides?

You can sit at one of the river front tables and enjoy your burger in the sun, overlooking the water.  That justifies all of it.  Plus the Angus beef burger was was 3/4 inch thick cooked.

    2.5 Stars if I could...

I ate here the other day and just wasn't sure what to make of it. This place wants to feel upscale based on the decor but descends into fast food land when you approach the counter and order. I'm not as offended by the $10 price tag as some are as I have been to plenty of places that charge the same but you don't get any sides here for that price. The difference is that the other places feel like a $10 burger where this place kind of feels like a Fuddruckers dressed up for the prom. My suggestion (hello management are you listening?) is to ditch the cafeteria fries and go with hand cut freshness. They are so obviously frozen that I did feel insulted payin' $2.50 for those. At the end of the day the burger wasn't bad, it wasn't great. It was just a burger. I do like the toppings they offered but for the expense I would just assume go to one of my neighborhood joints for one of their specials.

I just had one of the worst meals of my life at this place.  They were both incredibly understaffed and shockingly overpriced.  $9 for a freakin' burger!  Cheese is 50 cents extra?  Fries cost another $2.50???  And the food was not good...not at all.  In fact, we all left feeling kinda nauseous afterwards.  Everything about it sucked.

I can't decide between being harsh and being generous, so I'm splitting the difference... These guys charge hugely for what you get, but are so creative with the toppings available for their burgers I have to give them some credit for attempting to please real foodies. The Caesar salad I got was $7.72 including tax, but the lettuce was positively drowning in sauce, so I wasn't able to finish it. On the other hand, my colleague really enjoyed his burger. So. Definitely a mixed bag--and I don't think I'd want to return even if (as today) I were pressed for time.
