Chili Time

Thank god I discovered this place!  Sometimes you just need a greasy diner.  And being in Northside, many of the greasy spoons are breakfast and lunch places only.  So where am I to go for dinner?  Or at 3am?

And a short drive away is Chili Time!  I stayed away at first.  Cincinnati chili is gross.  Seriously...I'm not from here and it's gross.  So I stay away from the chili places.

But this has everything else one could want and it's cheap!  I had a ridiculous meal of eggs, hash browns, bacon and sausage gravy and a biscuit to top it off.  It wasn't gourmet.  It wasn't the best meal of my life.  It was exactly what it should have been and nothing more.  Yum!

As someone that grew up in Florida, I was always curious to try the Cincinnati chili that my Cincy native fiance' so fondly tlaked about.  He grew up as a CT regular, often eating it multiple times a week.  I'm not gonna even front - this shiz is addictive.  As someone that prides themself on being a healthy eater - I can't resist getting a cheese coney AND cheese fries.

Another great thing about chili time - they are open 22 hours out of the day.  Do you know what is even better than having a drunken night with friends and family?  Having a drunken night with friends and family followed by greasy chili cheese fries.  Just do it... you won't be sad ya did.

Let's get one thing straight: this is not a substitute for Skyline. This is a diner that happens to sell Cincinnati Chili. They also sell omelets and cheeseburgers (all day...until something like 2 in the morning). I got a cup of Chili and it hit the spot! I found my cheesburger to be comically thin. I think it would take a scientist to make flatter patties! Even so, it was exactly what I was expecting at such a dive! Eating here is like stepping back in time. It's great people-watching because it seems like everyone in the establishment has been there since 1985. Actually, our waitress told us that she had been working there since she was a teenager.

I highly recommend trying this place out if you're cheap, hungry, and want to take a true bite out of Cincinnati.
