This place is pure breakfast-y fun! We came on a weekday morning so we didn't have the wait that many of the other reviewers have had (which is exactly why we chose to go that day, thanks yelpers!!) My kids loved the fun colors of the decor, not to mention the cute lil' rubber duckies they recieved from a staff member. Aside from those things (which are almost enough on there own when you have kids) the service was great and so was the food. I'll elaborate on the food a bit... let me just say that those fluffy omelets are no joke! I had the garden omelet and it was huge, but better than that, it was DELICIOUS!!! Nothing like awesome breakfast leftovers if you ask me. Also, and pay attention here people, their breakfast potatoes are not the shredded hashbrowns that I personally wish would be eradicated from the face of the earth, but real, honest to goodness diced breakfast potatoes, well seasoned and perfectly cooked, which frankly is reason enough for me to return, love that! We were sure to get some of those famous wispy thin pancakes for one of my daughters and I must admit... they're just pancakes. Decent, only slightly thinner than usual  pancakes, but nothing particularly special about them which was a bit of a let down, but like I said, they weren't bad or anything. My other daughter had a waffle, which was light, crispy and by all accounts a darn good waffle. My husband had the steak and eggs. The steak was a bit disappointing. I'm not even sure what cut it was, but it was tenderized within an inch of it's life with a meat mallet and my husband was not particularly happy about the texture the mallet left behind. All in all, I'm wishing we lived closer to this place because we'd be here ALL the time! Go there! Get an omelet!!
Review Source:I'm giving them one star. That's all they deserve based on what I saw yesterday. I'm still disturbed. They have a leopard gecko on display in the front and it's obviously emaciated and barely being taken care of, if at all. If you know anything about leopard geckos, you know a healthy one has a big puffy tail. This ones was all skin and bone, it's body was so skinny it hurt to look at it. The restaurant is kept at 63 (saw the thermostat when I was there) and I'm sure it's lower at night and I doubt they keep the heat lamp on at night (that's an assumption, but a good one based on the observed condition of the gecko). I was so disturbed that I didn't even want to eat, but I did. And if you like bitter pancakes, this is your place. I don't see the big deal. I get better ones at ihop.
Review Source:My review would be 4 and a half stars. My boyfriend and I decided to have a drive around day 1.19.13. We wanted to try a new place in the area, we found Sugar n' Spice. We visited the joint about 10:30-11am.
Pros:
1. It is not a chain dining establishment. You are supporting a local business.
2. Colorful and quirky atmosphere. Bright pinks, yellows, dozens of ducks.
3. Attracts a fantastic mix of people; not just a certain age or hue.
4. Great serving staff. This place is tiny, but the serving staff breezes around like it is nothing. It was super busy, but our waitress treated us like we were the only ones in the place.
5. The food is really good. My order came out exactly how to ordered it. The thin pancakes are fantastic (but then I like thin crust pizza too). I found the prices to be decent. It was delivered pretty quickly.
6. The manager came out with fried mac n' cheese to give out samples and get feedback. It means they listen to what the customers are waiting and saying.
Cons:
1. This place is tiny, which means you might get some great conversation with a stranger when you sit at the counter, it is cramped with only counter space and maybe a half dozen booths.
2. This place is popular and because of the size, there is a wait. We waited about 20 minutes to be seated. The queue was worked through pretty quickly, but new people people were always coming in so the wait was always there.
Overall, great local place and I hope it has a chance to expand. We will keep it on our list of places to go.
