Let me start by saying I love chipolte. However, I went to this particular location a couple of hours ago and my stomach hates me for it! I ordered my usual thing... veggie bowl; white rice, veggies, mild salsa, cheese, sour cream, guacamole, and lettuce. For the most part, it looked really tasty and it was a big portion. When I went to the soda area to get napkins and lemon, I was shocked to see that the lemons were old looking like theyve been sitting out for a couple of days, there was hair on not one but two of the lemons I picked up, and an unidentifiable black object one another. Obviously I did without the lemons today. I sat down and ate everything was normal. It went down hill when I left 20 minutes later. As I was walking home I got a sudden sharp pain in my lower abdomen. Then it spread to my entire abdomen. I literally hunched over and grabbed my stomach while walking home on clark street. I can't remember the last time I experienced such a stomach pain. After flagging down a taxi to take me home, I got home only to throw up half way to the bathroom. I'm leaving out some of my other symptoms from the tainted food I ingested, but just know, the throwing up was the least of my worries. I wouldn't go back to this location even if they were paying me to eat their food. I'm curious to see if I'm the only one who has gotten sick from their food lately.
BEWARE!
I am not quite sure what brings people back to Chipotle. I have been here three times and each time I have been disappointed. The third time I went I psyched myself up thinking this was going to be the time I find out what all the fuss is about. Unfortunately, it was just another bad burrito.
At this Chipotle you can place your bets on fine and quick service, but not on the menu offerings. Overall I would suggest avoiding the steak since it is usually tough, and the chicken isn't that great either. In fact, I'd even go a step further suggest that if you're looking for a good lunch spot go across the street to Chicken Hut, south to Crisp or Pastoral, or north to Five Guys. With such great choices in this vibrant neighborhood, don't settle for this mediocre fare.
Yes, it's Chipotle, so unless you live under a rock, you probably know what the food tastes like here. Â But this is the location I frequent the most, so I thought I'd give it a shout out. Â The employees never fail to make me smile, even when I'm having the worst day. Â They are also efficient and always keep the line moving, even when it curves halfway around the restaurant. Â I also may favor this location because I won a burrito party for ten here, woohoo! Â You know those signs you sometimes see that ask you to text a word and you might win something (like a burrito party for 10 of your closest friends), well you should actually enter it if it's at Chipotle. Â Don't worry, they don't send you stupid junk texts. Â
My only beef with chipotle (Pun intended) is the lack of the quesadilla on the menu, because people order it all the time, yet it seems to have inconsistent pricing. Â Sometimes I am charged for the lower price for a quesadilla and sometimes I am charged for a burrito bowl, though I am always getting the same type of quesadilla. Â I don't mind if it's more, but they should just add it to the menu!
Anyways, great location, fast burritos, and they don't skimp you on the meat--you know what I'm talking about.
this place is a joke. however i was working here and i got sick i didnt call in i came back to work with a doctors note. and they still fired me.... also this enviorment is filledwith kids.....also the manager is bipolar i recommend that people should not eat thier they can go to hell.............................................
Review Source:I have always been a Chipotle fan but I now have a new found love for this place. I went to the Harvest Food Festival and tried the Barbacoa for the first time and it was amazing! So with my free burrito coupon I went to Chipotle and had a Barbacoa burrito bol. The barbacoa meat is legit! Not overly fatty scraps but really good meat with a great heat.
The people that work at this Chipotle location were extremely friendly too!
So it's Chipotle. High end fast food.
High end b/c I'm paying more than TB.
I always get burrito bowls b/c I'm not a fan of flour tortillas in general.
Cilantro rice is rice.
Beans are beans.
Meat selection is nice, but quality varies every visit (consistency)
I like the assortment of salsas and various condiments.
Chips and guac are surefire. ** But sometimes chips can be kind of stale or unevenly seasoned**
Pozole however, is NOT pozole and is a weak attempt at it.
If a hole in the wall joint can make bomb pozole, surely a corporate counterpart can offer something comparable. GUESS NOT.
So, it's weird to write a review of Chipotle, right? I mean, it's Chipotle. Â Sometimes you just have a craving for it.
This 5 stars is for their staff. Â Every time I go in, I am always amazed at how friendly the people behind the counter are. Â Seriously so nice. Â Even when they are super busy.
I share a quality with many of you out there - an unexplainable addiction to Chipotle. Yes, it happens to be around the corner and one of the closest places to get a meal under $7. And yes, it "seems" a little healthier than a fast-food burger joint, even after I add my sour cream and cheese. And yes, the employees are courteous and efficient. But is that all a reason to be addicted to this place?
It's enough for me :)
Perhaps no restaurant has more inconsistent reviews than Chipotle. Â Allow me to offer up my reasoning for this. Â People don't know what to expect when they go there. Â
Are they expecting high end Mexican food? Â If so, they will be disappointed and probably explains the 1 and 2 stars you see from some reviews. Â Are they comparing it to Taco Bell? Â If so, maybe that explains the 4 and even 5 star ratings.
Chipotle fits that odd in between niche in the Mexican food realm. Â Personally, I've never had a bad meal there and I've eaten at a few different Chipotle locations, including this one. Â They use healthy, natural ingredients which automatically places them light years ahead of the fast food chain restaurants that try to pass off their food as "Mexican".
I usually order a burrito wherever I'm there and I've never been disappointed  but my expectations aren't sky high to begin with. Â
It's a cut above fast food and that's all it's ever going to be. Â Always better than Taco Hell and never as good as Frontera Grill or Abuelo's.
So it is now at this point inmy life where I can actually see Chipotle from my couch.I can actually see everyone in the place...which is sad. Sad because i realize that ive convinced myself that somehow Chipotle is a healthy alternative to other crappy foods id want to eat. sad because ived already eaten there way too much for someone who hasnt even lived near it for less than a month. sad because everytime my mom comes to visit i make her bring me even more chipotle......I have a problem.
Review Source:Love this place. Â The 5 stars is all based on context of course. Â You need to upgrade your Taco Bells, McDonalds, Burger Kings, Wendys', with healthier, organic, antibiotic-free/fresh selections from Chipotle. Â I buy the exact same thing everytime I come here, which has been as much as twice a week of late:
Crispy Steak Tacos (3 big ones) with:
-Blackbeans
-Green Salsa
-Lettuce
This meal is surprisingly large, and check out that nutiritional content....

With all that Fiber and Protein, it will carry you deep into any part of your day or evening. Â You can't get this kind of quality or appetite appeasement at any Fast Food place, I promise you that. Make the switch now and say goodbye to greasy burgers & trans fat, and make Chipotle the new weapon of choice in your "fast food" arsenal.
Speaking of fast food, the service here is the speed of light. Â I don't even pay to park anymore I am in and out there so quickly. If you don't see one of Daley's meter thugs in sight, you know you can avoid an untimely and costly donation to him and his beer drinking buddies' pension funds. Â We aren't getting any younger, go to Chipotle asap.
For 8 days straight, I got the salad with black beans, fajita veggies, chicken, mild chunky salsa, corn salsa, cheese, no dressing, no chips today, $6.57. Â And they made it and gave it to me that quickly.
Servers are nice and fulfill requests for 'more [insert food item here], please'. These folks are quick and understand 'ums-lish' as in:
Me: Yes, black beaaaannss, and um, um, um
Server: Fajitas?
Me: Yes, and um,
Server: Some pintos?
Me: Yes, and ummmm
Server: chicken?
Me: Wow. Â You're good.
5 stars for service + 3 stars for taste + 3 stars for what looks like a really nice seating area - 2 stars for the calories (yeah, I am stretching) = 3 stars.
Headed to the "Make chai not war" show at the Lakeshore theater and needed food before showtime. Â It was a few feet away from the doors of the theater and not terribly busy. Â It's a Chipotle so not much to report. Â It was clean, the beer was cold and I think they could've mixed the burrito a bit better. Â Since they move down a line everything gets stuffed in sections, so at one end is all the veg and rice and at the opposite end is the meat. Â Other then that, it was OK.
I like how the windows are right up against the glass, when people walk by it's like they are in your food and you are on top of them.
I'm a Chipotle addict, I can safely admit that. I always get a Chicken Burrito Bol with a variety of toppings entirely dependent on my mood. YUM!!!!
So my review is mostly for this particular location, I've come here a few times, most recently today for lunchy lunch. I usually reserve Chipotle for the days where I'm so hungry I feel like I could faint. Today being one of those days, I felt that I required a ridiculous caloric intake that only Chipotle could provide. I got my usual Burrito Bol, but they totally shorted me on Bol contents!
When I actually got the Bol open for eating, "contents may have settled during transit" applies, because the bol was only like half full!!! I ate the whole thing and was still hungry.... THAT has never happened to me post-Chipotle ever ever ever! So I must say that I'll probably head over to the Diversey location, where one lady there recognizes me (sad... I know) and never shorts me on my $7 Bol contents.
i ain't no burrito expert but chipotle is quite a successful chain... its was developed and owned by Mcdonalds with their market research and extensive development team...and its one of the first fast-casual restaurants. they sold it off since but i think this chain is still one of the better ones..
their food have a different that you can taste... noone would say its gourmet... it is fast food and its really not that bad... and filling too...
mmmm... cilantro lime rice!
the place is comfortable with seating, mostly booths and bar chairs.. good view of the street...some music was playing but not mexican... service is very fast which is a good thing...
now... how is it pronounced again?
I must say i am a fan. For awhile i had a bit of a burrito problem, but moving away from Chipotle has certainly helped. I would not recommend a burrito during the day, for after eating one of these boys you slip into what my friends and i have termed a "burrito coma". Basically the burrito weighs you down to the point where you must lie down and sleep off the massive calorie intake you have just experience. However, it is euphoric.
Review Source:Other than the typical burritos and tacos you can get at any Chipotle, I really dislike this location. Â It's always cramped during peak dining times and the music from speakers setup four feet above from your head are always set at decibel levels 30 degrees too high--a problem I noticed for several diners who forced the barely-speaky-English gal behind the counter to turn the music down.
If Qdoba opens up within a block or two, this place is history.
So, I was coming home from work one day and I was really craving a chicken salad from Chipotle. Â This is the Chipotle that I go to the most and I would almsot say that I get the salad at least once a week... so I walk in... order my chicken salad to go...black beans...green chili salsa...no sour cream or cheese. Â Then it is time to pay for my salad... I look in my purse. Â OH NO! Â No card. Â Look in my wallet. Â NO CASH! Â Being the scatterbrained girl that I am sometimes am.... I mustve left my card in the car or at home... damn. Â No salad for me. Â But to my surprise, they let me take my salad! Â I came in the next day to pay them back because I felt so awful about not paying... and they still said that it was OK... lets just say that I gave them a very nice tip and will always think this Chipotle is the greatest!
Review Source:Whoever said you get a huge amount of food for your money, NOT ALWAYS TRUE. My last three or four visits (summer 08) I have seen the portions significantly reduced - not sure if corporate is telling the counter crew to be skimping on the portions due to the economy or what - but it sucks. Barely any meat, and I always have to ask for extra veggies on the burrito bowl. I've given them a few extra chances but won't anymore. Used to get 4 hard shell tacos, now you get 3. And they are smaller. (Tip: don't get the hard-shell tacos - when they dispense the meat, the serving spoon can barely get any into the narrow shell openings - get the flat, soft tacos which typically allow them to pile it on more.)
Used to like this place but for now, forget it. For the same price you can get as much food, also prepared fresh, with sit-down service with free chips and salsa at the Mexican place down the block.
I would go here every day if I could. EVERY DAY. I get their veggie burrito, but it's a step forward that they try to use locally raised beef for the meat burritos. They aren't perfect, but it's a step in the right direction. This location, in particular has a well trained staff, never had a problem with my burrito. Other ones I've been to, always screw up my order. Did I mention I would eat here every day if I could?
Review Source:"Can a burrito have integrity?"
I ask myself,
As I grab my meal two-handed
And slowly peel down
Its shiny foil sheath.
I bite through the first swaths
Of floury, salty tortilla
The texture of which
Whets my mouth
For the succulence inside.
Here, a mound of rice
Envelops a cache of beans.
Now my lips smart--
A morsel of green chili marries
A burst of sweet corn.
Cheese and cream soothe
Each acidic moment
Before appetite stokes
The next fire inside.
Now I linger with the green,
Smooth abandon of avocado flesh,
Yielding to spice.
I swallow again, remember my question, and answer:
"Yes."
Can't complain. Â Good prices, good food and you always get exactly what you asked for.
These portions are gigantic. Â Like really... Â The burritos are more like three meals in one. Â Sit down and devour that with a side of chips and guacamole and you've just eaten enough food to fuel your body for three or more days.
Buuuuut... Â With that being said, it is delicious. Â It is quick, easy and the place is clean and the staff is friendly. Â That's more than can be said of many restaurants. Â And for a fast food chain, all those qualities are pretty damn impressive.
It's a burrito! Â I don't understand all the angst about McDonald's owning this chain. Â Does it taste good? Â Yes.
What I really like is going down the line and looking at all the ingredients and picking what I want on it. Â Every time you can have them make your burrito or tacos slightly different. Â Where else can you do that? The guacamole is always fresh and the Margaritas are good too. Â Yes, they even serve cervesas.
Chipotle scares me for a few reasons:
1. Its relationship with McDonald's.
2. It purports itself to be healthy-ish because of fresh ingredients.
3. It tastes good. Â Their chips and guac are like crack.
and most importantly
4. (which actually relates to #1) If Eric Schlosser's "Fast Food Nation" is correct, there is SHIT in the beef.
How in god's name can shit taste good?
Hmm so many mixed reviews! I stop by here once in a while because, well, I'm starting to crave it. I knooooow it's owned by McDonald's and I knooooow it's not real Mexican food and I knooooow it's trendy crap but UH their guac is REALLY GOOD. Chunky! Delicious! It's a little expensive but eh, quick and easy. And the location is really good for people watching.
Review Source:Okay. Â Although I'm not Mexican and I don't have any Mexican family members, this place is NOT offer authentic Mexican food. Â It does, however, offer a quick, decent, Tex-Mex meal, as an alternative to other fast-food chains. Â I guess this is a step up from Taco Bell. Â Sigh.. I miss eating carne al pastor (adobada) tacos .
Anyways, I always get either the Burrito or Burrito Bol con Carnitas.
Despite all my problems with it not being Mexican food, I still patronize this McDonald's owned establishment once in a while when they have a promotion (e.g. buy 1 burrito, get another burrito at a later time).
Also, this location is on a busy corner (Belmont/Broadway), and you can easily people watch from your little bar stool facing Broadway, but then again you may not want people to see  you eating there (with your big-ass burrito and guacamole on your face).
Okay, so my husband is Mexican so I know what Real mexican food is suppose to taste like, and although I cant honestly say this is authentic, its pretty close. We eat there at least once a week and cant imagine not having it across the street from us. If you want to try something there thats somewhat authentic, I would recommend getting the Carnitas or Barbacoa.
Review Source:Horrifying. Not even close to being Mexican food. Â This is to Mexican what Pizza Hut is to Italian food, with the addition of the prices being way to high for a wrap with a bunch of rice, some veg, and a tiny bit of meat. . Nice trendy wrap place with mediocre food. Chad and Becky looove Chipotle!! Â If you want fast food, come here. If you want Mexican food, there are plenty of more traditional options.
Review Source:My favorite place to grab a quick and super tasty bite to eat! Their burritos are huge and packed to the brim with whatever you choose to put in there. And it does take a little practice eating that huge burrito without making a mess -- but once you learn, you're going to want to eat them again and again!
