    Cinco es de dos estrellas.

Was looking to try this new Mexican beer bar. Ouch should have stayed with our favs. If you are young, hip and have cash flow, You will Love Cinco, If you are older, losing your eyesight and have to pee this ain't going to work.

First thing I saw on the menu was chips and pico de gallo...$4. Arghhhh. Don't real Mexican places give these cheap eats away. Cocktails in the $9 range, damn you Los Angeles, but wait this is Westchester.

Server, Ashley was very nice. She was the best part about the joint.

Extensive Great  beer list (30) with high prices. $7-9. The list is printed with the names of the beer only, no Brewery  info so if you don't know I guess you can ask. Weird. Not quite sure why you have great beers and Mexican food. They aren't really a good match, so I think this place is more of a bar that serves food than restaurant.

Since I couldn't read the menu, printed mucho poquito we ordered two specials. Tacos Borrachos $10 and Camerones Diablitos (shrimp devil style)$15. The shrimp tacos were beer battered, generously packed and the food highlight of the night. The spicy shrimp platter came with barely warm beans, good spice, mediocre shrimp, white rice and NO Tortillas. Fuuuuh. Did I mention the tiny bowl of chips and salsa we ordered. Weak. There wasn't even salt on the table. Make that sticky table.

I had to wash my hands and there was a line for the men's room. Big place with a single can. Man.

Even my son had a complaint, he said the coke was watery. Strike nine, retire the side.

Full Disclosure. My son's team got their arses whooped at the hockey game so I'm not sure anything was going to make me happy tonight, but Cinco left the door wide open to be "objective"

I'm so happy that cinco opened up in westchester! It's about time that we have a cool bar to go to! They have over 30 beers on tap, amazing food and delicious tequila drinks! Need I say more?

I really really really wanted to give this place 5 stars but unfortunately as some yelpers have mentioned the food isn't very good. I agree why are they charging for chips & salsa? I ordered chips, guacamole, & chicken enchilada with red rice. I was expecting beans and rice that's what I ordered but I only got the rice. I didnt even get any salsa!! I'm use to my Mexican food being fresh like at pacos taco even El Taritos is better. Guacamole & salsa verde was too salty also the enchilada was like they took the tortilla shredded chicken threw in the to go container & dumped the salsa verde over it definitely was authentic. The rice was bland, cold & dry. Actually everything waa cold. i only live 2 mins away if that my food should have been al least luke warm. The place had a mix crowd. I should have known the food wouldn't be good since everyone was drinking vs eating. Maybe this place is good for happy hour in not sure. I'll come back to try the drinks maybe one day but I'll stick to Paco's Taco for my Mexican food!!

A Mexican food bar with patio, communal, bar, and booth seating choices.  There were a few TVs so could be a good spot to watch sports. There were a number of pros to this restaurant, but the food itself was average. Items are priced well and they have a full bar.  Customer service was friendly and the food for the most part was decent, but nothing spectacular.  We ordered the Tres Pistolas, which I though was a good sample of their dips.  The queso fundido with was okay and turned cold pretty quickly... I thought they could use other selection of Mexican cheeses as it looked mostly like cheddar.  The frijole dip was made of black beans and was ok, but I did really enjoy the fresh pico de gallo.  Our server was sweet and offered us more chips as the plate needs with the various dips.  My friend and I ordered tacos ($3 each), and both thought the al pastor was the best with the most flavor.  They are smaller size tacos, but with a decent amount of filling.  I do like the prices, ambiance, friendly service and parking was easy so I'm sure I'll be back to try it out again.

Super cute location but there are some things that could make it a 5 star spot.

Chips & Salsa:  not expensive but at any other Mexican place they are free

Tacos: Love the Happy Hour price. It would be great if there was a seafood and veggie option

Atmosphere:  It's so loud it's hard to have a conversation.  Maybe some sound panels would help absorb some of the noise

Note to self: Don't get wasted with coworkers, no reason anyone needs to know you can't handle your booze like your college years.

Food: AWESOME. Pork and Beef tacos FTW.

Drinks: They didn't have any of the mainstay beers, all craft brews. Awesome!

    Staff/Service: Attentive.

Ambiance: Old denny's/diner type place converted into a restaurant.

I have been to Cinco quite a few times since it has opened. Happy hour is 3-7 and really reasonably priced for food. The $1 tacos are fairly priced and really tasty - street taco style.

The bartenders here are some of the best - They make excellent cocktails and are constantly changing specials.

Awesome place with a great staff and great food! Their salsa is super authentic and I'll take a small menu with a selection of food that can be made well over a larger menu.
The beer list is phenomenal and reasonable priced and their cocktails are amazing and worth every penny.
Great atmosphere and a perfect spot for a date!

This place is just what Westchester needed!  Its a great place to hang out and have dinner and drinks.  The have a huge selection of beers on tap, really great and unique cocktails, and great food.  My husband loves trying different beers when we come.  The owners are usually behind the bar and are really friendly and knowledgable.  They are willing to make suggestions based on what you like.  They make a great Moscow mule ( my fav) and have a daily cocktail special with fresh ingredients.  The food is really good too.  I love the ensalata mamsita, ceviche, and the tacos.  They also have a nice patio area outside that will be great for summer!

Westchester finally got a good spot! Came for weekend brunch, chicken mole enchiladas and iced coffee hit the spot. Great space, industrial vibe with an open feel, good food, drink and service, I will be back to check it out for evening hours.

I came to check out Cinco's happy hour on a Friday and lucked out with a booth in the back corner. I'm not a big fan of communal tables where there's no privacy or elbow room.

My friend and I took our server's suggestion and got margaritas, a queso fundido, a bunch of $1 street tacos and an al pastor burrito.

The cheese dip was ok, they say it's a blend of Mexican cheeses, but I'm not going to ask what kind, cuz it didn't firm up so I'm going to hope it's not Velveeta, lol.

The tacos were good for about 2 bites, but what do you expect for a buck? I liked the al pastor much more than the carne asada. The fattier pork is generally tastier than the leaner beef as a rule.

The $5 burrito was decent; unremarkable.

The service is very good, and drinks are nice and strong, but it's pretty loud in that room even with our corner booth. I'm not sure that there's anything special about Cinco that would entice me to go back again.

Wow. It was bad. Really bad. And I mean really, really bad. We tried a bunch of different staff - form the chips and "pico de gallo" (Tostitos salsa) to a revolting tostada to the salty ass green enchiladas. I would not come back here. Even the waitress knew that everything was bad - she dropped the check and RAN. Even the margaritas were bad.

It really could be a cool spot - it has some of the right ingredients (nice atmosphere and good location) - and then the terrible food and awful drinks. Unless they hired a completely different kitchen and bartending staff, I will never darken their doorstep again.

Went here with low expectations on the food based on reviews... Left here wondering what were these reviewers thinking?
Was completely surprised- the food is more than legit. Chicken mole enchilada special was the bomb. Cocktail menu was superlative. Service ultra friendly. Bartender knowledgeable and friendly- enlightening us on the benefits of Mezcal. Neighborhood needed something like this ever since the slow decline of Hacienda up the street (sad). Well done... it's a keeper.

Great beer selection but terrible service. Too much attitude and not enough smiles.

I couldn't tell if this was a bar or a restaurant? It's so big and open and I think it's trying to be both? But having families with kids walking through the bar area with a bevy of drunk college kids is kind of weird.

I didn't order any food but chips and salsa but the menu looks pretty decent. I don't like pico de gallo so they substituted for the taqueria style blended salsa. It was fairly spicy but really good. I would have given this place a four star but the service was just really off-putting, as if I was a burden on the bartender for sitting in front of him. Not a good vibe.

    House molé: 10 STARS!!!

Overall, great experience! We went on a Friday night, just a few weeks after they opened. Sat at the bar and then outside for a bit until a table opened up. Great beer selection and in a day and age where everything is IPA, happy to see browns and porters equally represented!

Now on to the meal.... good LORD, please get the mole. Do not pass go, do not collect $200. Just do it.

I have had a long love affair with molé, but I never knew something like this existed... probably 31 different ingredients and spices in this. They cook it for 3 days. It is ephemeral.

Apparently, it is the family recipe belonging to the abuela of a staff member there.

Also, my hubby had the tacos and they were great too. But I don't see how anything on their menu could possibly hold a candle to that molé.

We had great service too. Attentive and helpful. Love it when staff isn't afraid to make a strong recommendation. Had a delicious coffee porter with the molé and it was perfect!!

My friends and I stopped by Cinco for Happy Hour.  When I arrived, the place was pretty busy, but it wasn't packed.  I liked the layout of Cinco in that the whole place had huge windows that let in the light so it was bright inside.

We were seated towards the bathroom but if you're in a group it's not a really good place to sit since everyone is sitting on one row facing the wall.  Lucky for us a big table for ten opened up so we moved there and we were able to sit facing each other.  (BTW, their big table have hooks for purses!)

We were here for happy hour so I was able to try a few of the items on their HH menu.  I got the al pastor and chicken tacos and a carnitas burrito.  The burrito was okay, but I liked their tacos more.

The chicken was okay.. the al pastor taco was great.  The tacos were small.. you could easily finish a taco in two bites. :)  Next time I come back, I'll probably just order al pastor and carnitas tacos.

Oh and the employees there were all friendly.

Parking was okay.  They have their own lot but since the place was busy all the spots were taken.  We easily found street parking though.

My boyfriend and I came here tonight to have dinner/drinks with some friends and I can't wait to go back!

The food was delicious! My boyfriend got the Burrito Bravo, which was one of the specials and I had a chicken quesadilla. Both were VERY good! My boyfriend wolfed down that burrito as if it was his last meal :) Not only was our food delicious, but it was very reasonably priced. The drink menu was large and they had quite the selection of draft beer.

The dining area is nice and there is a cute little patio out back. Oh and the women's bathroom was clean and had a gigantic tall length mirror (it's the little things that count).

The staff was extremely friendly and a few of the owners stopped by our table to check in and see how we were doing - VERY classy!

I highly recommend you check this place out! I'll be going back very soon!

Interesting little spot.  It has a pretty big dining area, but doesn't use the space very well. There were quite a few good beers on tap and had some pretty good cocktails too.  The tacos on happy hour were pretty good too!  I will come back and try more of their food.

Met a friend there for drinks and was pleasantly surprised. Staff was non-pretentious, mellow, knowledgable, and very helpful, despite being pretty busy. Great beer selection.

We did not have anything to eat but the happy hour street tacos looked pretty good.

This is a bar that serves some food.  It is NOT a restaurant that serves drinks.  There are very few tables and the the waiters do not pay attention to you.  A guy sitting behind us asked if they could order and the waiter, that  did not even stop, said it's not my table. The guy continued saying, we have been sitting here a long time.
We ordered an appetizer and split a meal. The app was very greasy. The pinto beans were gross.
We live in Playa and had high hopes for this place.  At 7:00PM they turned the music up so high you could hardly hear the person across the table.  So, not a relaxing dinner and this was a Wednesday not Friday Happy Hour.
I would tell my neighbors that this is a 20's something bar. At most: drinks and munches.
Want a decent, relaxing meal go to Truxtons.

Cinco is the perfect place to go with a bunch of people, hang out at their bar or communal table, drink and be merry.

Its the kind of place where you can hang out for hours chit chatting and getting tipsy and munching on some chips and salsa, some tacos.

The food isn't really memorable. It's not bad nor is it great. Its the kind you don't remember but happy to have while boozing it up.

So go for the beer and good company. Yeah its the perfect place for that.

Cinco is the perfect bar for your last stop in LA before heading to LAX.  That is exactly what brought us here, a friend visiting for a few hours on a layover wanted a nearby location to gather his friends for some quick drinks before catching his next flight.  So after fighting through some west LA traffic, we parked in the lot surrounding Cinco and proceeded to get our drinks on.

Cinco is a spacious and clean bar with lots of booth seating, large tables in the middle for our large 12+ person group and two big screen TVs over the bar so you don't have to stare at one another all night.  Looks like a lot of post-work people and LMU kids frequent this bar in the evenings, and probably layover people like our group.

I like that the draft beers are listed right behind the bar, and our waitress was very thorough with her descriptions of the beers, so that helped in picking out the ones I like.  They also have a great moscow mule (they so hot right now!) that's served in a stainless steel cup.  Their appetizers are tasty, but a little overpriced ($8 for chips with 3 dipping bowls).

I know we'll be back for another visit.

Sooooo.... the ambiance is great! I really like what they did to the place. The high windows provide a lot of light, but the inside is dark and inviting. The furniture adds to the environment and you can tell they spent a lot fo time on it.

The happy hour is fabulous, and they have a ton of beers to choose from. There are a lot people working the bar, so you never have to wait long for a drink. The mixed drinks are also delicious and it seems like they have worked out the issue mentioned in earlier reviews about drinks only being 3/4s full.

The downside remains the food... it is quite frankly bad mexican food. I had that tacos (dry), salsa (just shitty), guac (from a bag?) and the queso (greasy mess).  I would love for them to put more effort into the menu in order to live up to its full potential.

If possible, I would give this place 2.5 stars.

This is probably a great place to grab a beer and watch the game.  The bar looks quite impressive, but I only had time for one beer - Jamaican Red which was good.

The service was good from our waitress, but the two hostesses we encountered seem to be imports from Hollywood with dead eyes devoid of any personality or natural communication.  I don't know how else to describe other than a hollywood type.  Obviously, I'm not hollywood and don't expect to find that in Playa del Rey.

The food was just okay. I've had much better.  It seems like the focus is on alcohol and the food was an after thought.  The chicken seemed like processed chicken rib meat, the kind you would get from the grocery store that's made to look like breast meat, but it isn't really.

Overall, I think it's safe to go here for a drink and probably quite enjoyable to watch a game.  But I went in expecting a Mexican bar and on the inside it looked more like a gastropub.  Don't be fooled, it's neither.   The food menu is weak and what we ate wasn't that good.  To be a gastropub you need good beer and good food.  They only have good beer.    For a Mexican bar, I would also expect a list of tequilas, but I saw none.

That said, I'm glad to see the effort in the neighborhood, but I miss the old Siam Restaurant with good Thai food.

This place is pretty good for drinks! I've been here for happy hour and for dinner. They have a large selection of beers and some pretty tasty cocktails.

As far as the food goes, I'm going to wait until they have been open a few more months before I attempt to eat it again. I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt because they are new, but the food just is not that great. If you dare to try it, DO NOT GET THE QUESO! I had to ask them try and melt it more because it comes out semi-melted and there is no chance of successfully dipping your chips into it.

Cinco was more tres stars instead of cinco. It's an ok local gastropub with Mexican food, 30 beers on tap, and a handful of Happy Hour deals, however, the service, food, and pours were inconsistent.

The bar was packed for Happy Hour (M-F 3:00 - 7:00). We squeezed into a spot at the counter and set to tackling the HH discounts.

    $1 Street Tacos
At 3-4 bites per soft taco, you'll probably need a few orders. We tried these: Asada (3 stars), Carnitas (2 stars), and Al Pastor (3 stars). Choose the Picoso or Verde Salsa.

    $5 Burritos
Cut in half for sharing, our Asada Burrito with Rice and Pinto Beans was dry and really need help from Picoso or Roja Salsa (2 stars)

    $5 Queso Fundido
The fundido wasn't fun because the cheese texture and flavor is off. It's not melted enough to dip nor flavorful enough to care. Most of the chips "broke" while trying to dip (2 stars)

    $4 Draft Beer
Three beers are selected from the 30 as discounted for HH. Jamaican Red, Scrimshaw, and Beach House (I think) were the deals when we went. Once I switched to beer, I stuck with a few rounds of Jamaican Red.

    $5 Well Drinks & Wines
The wine list isn't extensive and we skipped trying them. Next time perhaps.

    $6 Cocktails
Five were advertised for HH, so we tried a couple. Olivia tried the Elderflower Spritz with St. Germain (always fun) and Sparkling Wine, Club Soda, and Lemon. Her first glass was sweet, but had some kick, but the 2nd order was just sweet. I tried a Whiskey Fix with Coffee-infused Bourbon & Sugar. It was ok, but not worth a re-order (3 stars for the cocktails).

Service was fine considering how busy they were. We had some long waits with empty glasses twice and constantly were asking for service instead of being asked. The bartenders were working hard so I can't fault them, but they probably needed 1 or 2 more people behind the bar to handle the crowd.

The HH menu choices and drinks are limited, however, it's great to have a local gastropub close by. Tres stars means bueno and Cinco is tres stars.

I've only drank here, and the experience thus far has been great.

The cocktail program so far has been great, with the only snafu of running out of their daily farmers market specials (blood orange margaitas or farmers market strawberry daquiris), but all of the drinks I've had here are quite good and gets me a nice buzz. Really glad they have a focus on my favorite liquors, namely some Rye/Whiskey and Tequila/Mezcal. The drinks do take a while to get at times, but its because they are a little more complicated to make.

Huge extensive and interesting beer menu. It has been crowded, but I've always managed to pony up to the bar or get a table on a weekday. Excited for the potential for this place, as there aren't many nightlife options in the area for the aging gentleman trying to squeeze the last remnants of local LA nightlife before having to wifey up.

For some reason, the table tops seem a little "sticky" from the paint. But having traveled throughout mexico extensively, I guess its just recreating the authentic experience.

I suggest you sit at the bar if you want quicker service, since they are new and still working out kinks, and it tends to get really busy for dinner service.

My family and I sat at the booth, and although out waitress was more than friendly we didn't see her much towards the end of the dinner. We ordered tacos, quesadilla, mumela, torta, ceviche, and the chips and three sauces appetizer.

I would not order the chips appetizer again, I was not a fan of the beans or the cheese. I loved the torta and the mumela, and the ceviche was refreshing.

I also had a tasty horchata drink :)

As a Westchester local, I will definitely be coming back for tacos, tv, and drinks for happy hour.

Met up with my pal, Barry W on a Friday night.  I dig the space.  Large and open.  A communal table in the center, with booths surrounding the bar.

A vast selection of beers and decent whisky (from what Bear tells me).  Yet, I stick with my never disappointing Gin and Tonic.

The food?  BAD.....  (sorry Bear)  I came back here for the 2nd time with a gal pal on our way to pick up some friends at the airport.  The first time I ate here I passed it off as just being a busy Friday night but being back on a Wednesday, the food was still rather shitty.  The Chips and Salsa was straight out of a packaged bag from your local Ralph's.  The Torta had some weird stringy cheese thing that we couldn't quite make out.

The service is really good.  Mostly good lookin' dudes that make the taste of the food slightly more pleasant.  They finally started having floor service for people wanting to order more than just drinks.

One other problem is the volume.  I love listening to music while having cocktails but dang...  it's too damn loud.  I caught myself doing my own version of sign language just to have a conversation with my buddy.

A cool spot to have a cocktail before going to the airport but definitely not a place I'd make plans to go to unless the staff starts stripping.  If it wasn't for the hottie waiter with dimples, I'd rate this place much lower.  Amazing what a nice smile can do.

I went to this place during it's first week of opening. As a local, was super excited for it to open. I really enjoyed the whole experience. It's a fun, hip vibe (which was desperately needed for this neighborhood) and they serve amazing cocktails! I got the moscow mule, it came in a classic copper cup which was so cool. I ordered a few tacos, the pastor was to die for.

Really looking forward to making this my new hang-out place for happy-hour!

My husband and I were so excited that Cinco finally opened, and reeeeally wanted to like it. While writing this review I'll keep in mind that we DID go on opening night.

The drink menu is robust and they have beers on tap a'plenty. I ordered the blood orange margarita which was good...but the glass was only 3/4 full. Hrm.

The food was fine, but nothing to go crazy about. I could not get over the weird taste of the black beans - it tasted like they added anise. Just what I love...beans that taste like licorice.

Paying the bill was a frustrating experience as we were overcharged by two extra items. Their system was down, which fine, we get it. The staff was super apologetic and offered to pay us the difference in cash. Great! We waited...and waited...and waited...only to see said staff mixing drinks behind the bar instead of tending to our issue.

We'll probably give them a try again after they work out their kinks, but they didn't make a great first impression.

Cinco offers up some yummy eats. First off, they make their tortillas by hand which is always a huge plus in my book. They have a pretty good selection of beers, street tacos, Oaxacan dishes like the chicken mole plate that's served with herbed white rice, black beans, and chile on the side. Cool open space.

This place is also vegetarian for all the vegetarian peeps out there!
