My husband and I love Conleys and are there often because we live close by (we are regulars for sure).  The  atmosphere is laid back and fun, food is good, prices are reasonable, and waitstaff and bartenders are friendly and efficient.

That being said, we have been going less lately, or just getting takeout, because we don't like the hostess/greeter older lady. She is incredibly abrasive and rude, makes us wonder why we spend our hard earned $ to be chased down, snapped at, and aggravated over seating ourselves in the bar area when there is no sign to wait to be seated and when we ask people if they're waiting before sitting down (hey, I'm not looking to cut in front of anyone, and the wait staff have told us in the past it is generally fine to seat yourself).

I'd think she would at least be polite to regular customers, even if its to tell us to wait for a table NICELY rather than coping an attitude-we aren't unreasonable, we just don't like being snapped at. Our neighbors told us they got the same treatment from her on a different occasion, so at least it's not just us.

It's annoying when you're a loyal customer who spends a decent amount almost weekly, and tips well, to have someone make you feel unwelcome and aggravated.  After she was rude tonight, it will probably be a while before I'll go back.

Conley's is definitely worth a trip. Good food and great beer selection, it's a Pub so you can't go in expecting more than what a Pub offers.

Unfortunately this local area pub seems to have gone down hill with the quality of their food.  And I have had a mixed bag when it comes to service.  At night it is usually crowded and the service is ok but at lunch time it is slow and the food is not up to snuff.
This used to be one of our favorite places but service and quality have gone down hill.

Stopped at Conley's for dinner with my Dad while passing through on my way from Newport to Portsmouth. It had some interesting Yelp reviews, is close to his apartment and we were looking for something quick.

Walked in a saw a decent sized bar to the left and smaller dining room to the right. We decided to just grab a table so we could bullshit instead of sitting in near the bar.

The food was good, especially the Steak Tips & Scallops my dad ordered and came in a large enough portion to share some with me. My burger was decent as well.

The beer prices seemed a little higher than I'm used to for Sam and Guinness. They poured the Guinness properly despite the earlier review.

There were plenty of TVs around with the games on.

Conley's is a decent little sports pub and I'd recommend it if that's what you're looking for.

The Reason why some people gave this place a bad review is b/c they are super picky hipster foodies! This place has good bar food, it is pub that serves pizza, burgers and sandwiches. If you are expecting more then the typical bar offerings or a gourmet fashion then... My favorite is there Cajun chicken sandwich or Steak & Bleu Cheese salad. I eat here about once a month and have yet to be disappointed. Nice staff, great local spot. Good selection of beverages (alcoholic). There is a bar side and a restaurant side.

Snap playa! Literally, play golf at Freshie and snap in to a batch of up to 30 crisp, meaty wings for a quarter a piece on Tuesdays.

Sure, there are stipulations. First, you have to buy a pitcher of ice cold beer, ranging from $11 from the ol' classic Bud Light to $17 for premiums like Long Trail. Second, there needs to be at least two of you to drink that beer while you munch on your jumbo, steamy wings.

I'll return, no question, and not just because the Watertown options run scant outside of Strip T's newfound fame and 21 Nickels' early evening opening, but because the wings are done proper and the service sung with smiles.

A beer and a half with 10 wings for under $10 is a mighty fine snack, m'friends.

The food is terrible, absolutely terrible.  Everything I have tried has been gross.  They obviously don't put effort into the food, they just figure you might want to eat if you are drinking.  DO NOT go here if you want to grab a bite to eat, I am not kidding, the food is really bad.  If you live in the neighborhood and want to grab a drink, it's a decent place because it is convenient.

Now that I am living in Belmont, I have been searching out what the local offerings are. When I read other reviews of Conley's, I was thinking that I have found a local pub serving well made food and assorted beers. To be fair I have been 2x so far and both times were pretty unspectacular. 1st time a draft beer, burger and salad. House salads are pretty much right out of the spring salad mix bag. Not super fresh tasting, not very interesting either. Burger's are a decent size and OK. I have had a lot better  in the Belmont or Watertown area.

2nd time I took my 6'3" 16year son who is a young foodie in the making. He knows decent food when he sees it and tastes it . The only problem was he didn't see it here at all. He ordered the burger and took over half of it home for the dog. He said it was spongy and pretty much inedible. After reading how good the pizzas are, I ordered a plain with artichokes. The pizza was so heavy with cheese that I could'nt eating it with my hands. It was way too cheesy, not enough sauce and the dough was soaking wet from the cheese. The only good aspect of being at Conley's were the beers which were cold and right.

One of my great pet peeves eating out is to get decent table service. The waitress left the eaten salad plates on the table the entire meal. I had to keep asking to fill up the empty water glasses. Kind of basic attentiveness is requested. Last but not least, If they are going to wipe down a nearby table do not F^#@*en spray windex around my food. I don't want it in my nasal passages and I certainly don't want it on my food.

The basic fact is, it's really not that hard to make great food. I am not expecting 3-star Michelin service and food, but I do expect reasonably well prepared food that is  carefully prepared and delivered to the table.

I guess its better as a local bar, not a grill, but I probably won't be back here anytime soon.

I couldn't be more happy to find Conley's since moving to Belmont.  It's always good to have a local pub with a very friendly staff, when you need some eats & a few brews with a Bruins game.

The burgers are decent enough for a pub.  I had a BBQ pulled pork sandwich the other night, and it was actually really tasty.  I liked that they didn't drench it in sauce, just enough for flavor without turning my plate into a pond.  Their onion rings are just the style I like.  Thick cut, double beer battered, with a side of BBQ sauce... it's the little things.

But if you have a few guys together for a game I would highly recommend a plate of chili nachos.  They were awesome!

From the beer side of things... you can't go wrong with a place that has $2.50 pints of PBR on tap.  Plus they have pitchers.  The PBR is around $5 if my memory is correct.

The staff is great here.  They all seem to look out for each other.  If your glass is empty and a waiter/waitress (any of them) passes by they'll be more then happy to grab you another.  They're also a pretty chatty & friendly bunch.

STEAK TIPS STEAK TIPS STEAK TIPS!

OK, so I am blessed with the fact this place is less than two blocks from my house. So yes, I mght go there a lot.

    but the food is GOOD!

Yes, I normally get the same thing - Steak tips, medium rare, rice pilaf, salad with blue cheese, and a PBR or two (all for less than $30 with tax and tip - and funny, I drink PBR because I like it, not because I am trying to be ironic!)

The steak tips come out, and are basically like 4 little 4 ounce steaks. Great seasoning, cooked perfect, and delicious!

Rice is rice, salad is salad. But the roll that comes with it. i have NO idea what kind of bread it is. Looks like a dinner roll. Has butter melted in it (maple butter maybe). soaks it all up, and is simply amazing!

So one night, I was sitting there, watching the red sox, having a couple drinks, and although had had steak tips (like I do 95% of the time), but by the 9th inning of a Sox vs yankees game (like 4+ hours later!), I was hungry again. Got some pulled pork sliders and WOW. ALMOST as amazing as the steak tips. So good!

I bring everyone I know here. It is close. Great food, great beer selection, good alcohol selection (mmm, 18 year old jamisons...). And great prices. Atmosphere that is comfortable, friendly staff... what more can you ask for!

My husband and I adore Conelys. We found it about a month after we moved to the neighborhood and it is one of our "go to" spots for dinner and drinks. Its nice to go to a place in Belmont with a simple, affordable menu, with food that is well cooked and seasoned.

Pros: everything on the menu is good. Same polite and friendly staff every time we visit. Reasonable prices. TVs around the pub to watch all the games.

Cons: Its always super busy and you have to wait around 15 minutes to get seated on a Thurs, Fri, or Sat (which is typical of anywhere good). The wait for your food is also a bit long. Could be quicker

Conley's is a great neighborhood pub.  Our food has always come promptly and properly cooked. I've noticed you can't always count on that when it comes to burgers in this town.  Conley's doesn't make that mistake.

The staff has always treated us well and kept our beers filled.  I haven't yet tried the prime rib but I think that's going to be corrected on our next visit.

My wife and I stopped by Sunday afternoon for a pint and a bite to eat. When we arrived the place was empty save a single woman sitting at a corner both with her laptop open. She kindly let us know that the bartender/waiter had stepped out for a second.

It wasn't too long before Tim found us at a booth and took our order. My wide ordered the nachos and I ordered a pizza, half pepperoni. Usually this is the point where I accept the fact that I live in Boston (formally from NY) and that I'll shortly be staring down at an overly processed, overly greasy (in a bad way) and overall poor excuse for a pizza (did I mention that spent 4 years in the kitchen of an Italian restaurant in the Bronx which many consider to have some of the greatest pizza around? So, yeah, I'm a pizza snob).

I sucked down a Long Trail Double Bag in an effort to abate the headache that was creeping in from the previous days 12 hour beer and BBQ marathon and waited for the food to arrive. While we did we took note of the staff sparkling the place up, even going so far as to sweep the street out front.

It didn't take too long for Tim to swing by with our meal.

My wife's nachos? Oven baked with tender flavorful chicken and cheese properly distributed so each chip had a fair blanket of goodness.

My Pizza? Holy Sh*t- Outside of the North End I have yet to have a pizza in Boston that comes close to this! Isn't Conley an Irish name? This is crispy (not crackery) thin crust pizza, a tangy properly spiced sauce, quality cheese and the good kind of grease. The kind that is a byproduct of a good mozzarella and homemade sauce. The crust had the residue of the flour used on the pizza board, a clear sign this bad boy was not made in one of thise assembly line pizza maker so prominent around Boston and the suburbs.

Tim was pleasant and courteous, the place was clean, the pizza was better that you could possibly imagine. If all they did was pizza they would deserve all the success in the world.

A slightly more eclectic beer selection and this place get's the fifth star. (Did I mention I was a beer snob too?)

    Don't pass this place up.

After coming to this place twice in one week, I decided its probably fair that I leave a review.

The first time, my girl friend and I were just looking for a place close by to grab a beer and a quick, decent bite to eat. Her roommate and herself used to frequent Conley's and she thought I'd like one of their salads. So, off we went.

I got the cobb salad and of course haven't deviated from that since. The lettuce is a spring mix, and while I normally like an iceberg mix, I put up with it. You can add chicken to it, and if you eat meat I suggest you try this. The chicken, honey mustard dressing, and everything else all mixed together is amazing. Very tasty! The chicken doesn't have any gross bits to it, which gets huge points in my book. I haven't noticed the lettuce being gritty as others have, but both times I was drinking a fair amount while eating said salads.

A little beer hides any gritty lettuce taste, in my opinion ;)

The service is a pretty even "meh". Nothing exceptional but everyone's been quite friendly and low key. You get the opportunity to eavesdrop on a lot of ridiculous conversations, which is always my favorite part about eating at a townie bar.

Overall, I'd definitely go here, and stumble home for dinner more often.

OK, so I'm not going to remove a star from my original 4-star review since I'm a loyal patron, but I have to say this after dining at Conley's this evening for the eleventy-millionth time:

More often than not I get a salad (either an entree salad or as a side).  And there has been grit in the lettuce enough times for me to detect a pattern.  It happened again this evening.

Once (not tonight but another time within the last year) I even overheard a diner at another table telling the server that the lettuce in her salad was gritty ... not enough to send back, but to please tell the kitchen.

I wish they washed their lettuce better ... if anyone from the restaurant is reading this, please pay heed!

I have now been here at least 25 times.  They serve bar food and their menu is limited.  With that said,  all meals have been hot and delicious and reasonably priced.   We love the steak tips, Hamburgers,  Wings, Salad, French Onion soup and Chicken Stir fry.   Great place to eat and watch a game.

I wish they would improve the sound so we can  hear the announcers when there are major sporting events

Was here last night for a B-day party. The service was awful.

To be fair I will start off by saying the birthday girl did not make reservations and there were about 10 of us and we all ordered at different times.

That being said the waitress was awful. At the end of the evening she coped a major attitude when people asked her to split the check. Yes its probably a pain and yes people should have asked first, but you just soldier up and split the check. She used the words "this is becoming a problem for me"

I'm sorry your tip has now become a problem for me.

When she came back with all the checks she practically threw them on the table.

Chick was lucky my BF was paying because i wouldn't have given her any tip at all and that is a strong statement coming from me.

Also the food was bland. I had a taco wrap which was cold. I think they meant for it to be cold but it was weird. There were mixed reviews from most people. I had a beer so I can not comment on the drinks but they did seem to have a decent drink list.

    Buffalo Chicken Pizza!
That's enough to make me a fan of Conley's along with the good beer selection and pub menu. But damn, this pizza's addicting! Buffalo tenders, blue cheese and jalepeno peppers! Owww!

The other night, my boyfriend and I were enjoying a pizza at a two person table.  Had the pizza rack in front of us and I clumsily knocked half the pizza on the floor while reaching for the ketchup!  SMASH!! I think I startled everyone in that corner of the bar even though it was quite noisy in there! I was so disappointed that we wasted a half of a delicious buffalo pizza. :(

But then our waitress came and informed us that she put a new order of pizza in.  Free of charge and was happy to do so!  That was enough to make me want to write a review!  The staff really is great at this place.

I will be back soon, except maybe I will be more careful with my elbows!! :)

Really nice after-work drink option in Watertown.  Unlike many of the surrounding bars, Conley's is bright with huge pop-out windows.

The food is just ok (solid bar food) but the drink menu makes up for it.  Also no matter how busy it is the wait staff is professional.

    Diffrent nights, diffrent reviews:

My volleyball team has been going to Conley's for almost 3 years now, and numbers in our party vary from 2 to 32, but normally in the 6-10 range.

We used to play on Wed. night, and we had Jen as our server. Jen is a great server, friendly, personable, knows the menu, not afraid to give you her opinion when asked. My team and I normally split a few pitchers of beer and eat various things from the menu. normally a pizza, burger, and wings are ordered every time, by one person or another. Even 1 night, I had their chile cheese frys, and the best part was one of the waitresses we knew came back from a soxs game after 1 too many, and decided my frys looked so good she would help herself to a few of them. I didn't mind.

    ....that was Wednesday's....

My team moved to Monday nights, and we continued to visit conley's as a post game pub. But Monday isn't Wednesday 1st off, we loose Jen, and her replacement.... well I'm willing to bet Sara M. had her as a waitress. Clueless, rushed, and just works for tips, which dosen't get you as good of tips as working for the customer.

Also, Monday's cooks, are not Wednesday cooks, or they are, but they just forgot how to cook over the weekend. Often times orders are wrong, cold, mis-cooked, and even forgoten. Sadly the service has gotten to a point where, unless we as a team all decide to go out, there's no more 2 or 4 person groups willing to go..... at least we save on the tipping amount now, from 20 - 25% to 15 - 16%.

LOVE the turkey rueben, wash it down with a blue moon. DELISH.

They close their kitchen early, 10pm or sooner....yes, even Saturday nights. I wish they'd at least serve till 11:30pm, but I'm lucky I have a cozy pub to call my own across the street.

This is a great place to go to for a "bar experience" and to watch games at, but honestly, the food is not why I would come here. It has a short menu and less-than-ok food. The only exception to that is their pizza, which is pretty good.

I definitely would come here to watch sports (they don't do UFC though), but not to eat.

    I heart nachos.

Please, try the nachos at Conleys.  They are oven baked, and amazing.  The chili stuff isn't really worth it -- just go for the basic.  They don't just nuke it quickly -- it's the real deal.

I would have never thought to go in here, but my coworkers found it, and decided to try it.  It was great - like everyone says, it's a local pub, but the food was good, and the service friendly. We sat in the bar area on a Friday night, maybe around 7, and there was a good crowd, and by 8, it was getting packed.   It's good sized, clean, and on warm days, the windows are open, which is nice.  Plenty of street parking is available.

The chicken sandwich was good, and the steak fries were great.   My one coworker did not like her wrap - I think it was the taco wrap?  She said it was very messy, too.  My other coworker liked her appetizer, but I forget what it was.  Prices are good, and my drink was strong, which is always a plus.

Conley's is a nice local Irish bar that has it all. They have TV's to watch sports etc, a nice bar selection, and a nice food menu. I have been to Conley's with co-workers and they can accommodate bigger groups.

They have a nice assortment of burgers and sandwiches. They also have really good pizza.
Everything is reasonable priced and the service is really great. I like their beer selection and they make nice (strong!!) cocktails.

Given that I have aways been there with a group, I think the staff are really great at handling many order and many checks etc. This is a really great place, and kind of a hidden treasure in the Watertown/Belmont area.

We just moved to Belmont, which doesn't have any pubs, so my BF and I were psyched to find this place close to our apartment. We chanced the burgers and we were both impressed. My boyfriend had the chili burger and less than a week later he needed to go back for another. They were cooked just as we ordered them and had great flavor. On the second visit I tried the pizza and a cup of chili, both great.

The staff were friendly and efficient and I know we'll make this a frequent local stop.

The only criticism we have is that they don't serve Guinness in the real pint glasses, which we could overlook, but they aren't really poured correctly. So by the time it settles at the table there is a really big head on it and your paying for a full beer, but getting a little cheated. If you're going for the Irish Pub rep, you gotta serve the Guinness proper.

I went this past St. Patty's day and I was a little disappointed.
My burger was really good and the fries were great.
My girlfriend's Spicy Buffalo Chicken was absolutely awful.  The spices were burned.  They were slow with getting our drinks out. They got the order wrong. The bill was wrong.

The place is cool though - great pub atmosphere and a lot of TVs w/a lots of sports.

If it wasn't packed and super busy I would have given 2 stars but I am giving the benefit of the doubt.

Not sure if I'll go back.  Maybe for a quick beer and burger.

We love Conley's! My girlfriend and I started going there after moving to the neighborhood a short time ago. We usually go on Thursdays for the half-price pizza special, but pretty much anytime is a good time.

The service is mostly very good and the bartenders are generally a very fun group that serves fast while still managing to have friendly conversation with the guests.

The food is generally pub-style with some nice specials mixed in. The pizza is great, especially on Thursdays, and even the salads are good (if uninspired). Decent beer and drink selections make for a pretty well-rounded menu.

What I love most about this place though, is the atmosphere. Nearly all of the customers are from around the neighborhood and they all seem like a pretty jolly bunch. I recently went in to watch a Bruins game and I ended up getting pretty swept up in the enthusiasm on display from the crowd.

I've always had a good time at Conley's and I intend to do so again.

I cannot believe this place has been around the corner from my house this whole time (4 or so years!) and I haven't tried it yet.

I went to Conley's recently with my co-workers and this is going to be one of my new favorite hangouts in the neighborhood.  Our waitress was funny, friendly, and attentive.  The food and drink menus are extensive.  We didn't eat dinner, but the appetizers were pretty good for a bar except for the nachos which were a little bland.  The sweet potato fries were perfect, the steak fries piping hot, and my friend's chili looked delish.

I've passed Conley's a million times and I never knew there was such a clean, low-key bar inside.  I can't wait to go back and perhaps try the prime rib on Wednesdays.  Mmmmm.

...and simply the best marinated steak tips I have ever had. Seriously, the food is good ol' American fare, and is spectacular. Another fave is the Reuban.

The reason for my downgrade is that Monday night's lady bartender (fairly tall with brown/reddish hair) really isn't the brightest bulb of the bunch. She is really really slow and tends to forget things, so until she gets better or until she's gone I don't think I'm going to be in on Mondays.

Also an update on the specials, since I had them wrong before.
Monday - 1/2 price select appetizers
    Tuesday - lamb chop night
    Wednesday - prime rib night
Thursday - 1/2 price pizza with pitcher

It's not exactly the greatest bar in the world, but the food is good, the prices are right and the staff is really friendly. If you're in the Watertown area, this is an excellent choice for food or just for drinks.

Speaking of their drinks, they're always great. From the beer on tap to the mixed drinks (White Russians are fantastic), you can't go wrong. When it comes to the food, my favorite choices include the chicken wings or the chicken fingers, both with an amazing Buffalo wing sauce. These are some of the best wings in the Boston area, and I've tried quite a few places.

Used to live down the street, love the buff chicken pizza - DELICIOUS.  Pepperoni pizza is good to, they recently raised their beer prices BUMMER, but overall good value.  Upgrading TVs in main room would be cool, i'm always up for watching the Sox and grabbing abeer here since I lived in the footloose town of Belmont.

Will update to 3.5 once Yelp greenlights the 1/2 star project that I secretly pray that they are working on.

Typical pub fare. Came here one evening because we were in the mood for some beef. Had me some of their steak tips and it was pretty decent, although I've had better, but it sufficed for that evenings craving.

I would like to come back here for their prime rib nights though.

The staff is super friendly and would be the main reason why I would come back, other than convenience and prime rib. *hehe*

Yes, the ladies room is a verrrrry tight squeeze and kinda hidden. If there is a weight issue, I would suggest going to the restroom elsewhere.

Any place where the owner is often the cook earns some serious respect from me. The food is good, the beers are not too pricey and the atmosphere is OK--not great, but pretty good.

For me, in this neighborhood, it comes down to Conley's vs. Guidos and I have to give the edge to Guidos in this death-match battle. They both have their plus points (and extremely good steak tips), but I am just a Guidos guy at heart. Still, though, I recommend Conley's as well. Food is good and the staff is great and it has that excellent local feel.

I got my very first legal beerr at this bar and have been coming back ever since.  They have really good food even if its just pub food, there is a difference here.  The steak and cheese is different then most because they use amazing steak tips for it.  It's reasonably priced and the owner is a great guy and usually in the back cooking up the food.

    UPDATE
Right now they are in the process of expanding into the 2 store fronts next door, I believe expanding  the bar and making either another dining room or a function room...

My friends and I went there after dodgeball tonight and it was a nice place. A couple of them wanted to try it and we're glad we went along.

There was a wider selection of food than most pubs that I've been to in the area and so our food ranged from a turkey burger to a sausage hoagie. There were also things like turkey tips and prime rib on the menu which is cool when you're hungry for something else.
