OK ... I've been going back every once and a while because I am in the area often and really want to like the place ... Joanne is the daytime bartender and as I previously stated she is great ... well ... the food has improved tremendously. Great $6.00 lunch specials and all around a big improvement.
Review Source:An all-around decent neighborhood bar and grill. It's just polished enough to sit down for drinks and dinner food, but it still retains a whiff of that priceless dive bar feeling--and I mean that in a good way. The selection of beers and wines and cocktails is somewhat limited, but this isn't a bar that makes frou-frou specialty drinks--this is a solid neighborhood joint that will give you a cheap cocktail with a generous pour and no questions asked.
The food is a little bit inconsistent, which is understandable. Sometimes it exceeds my wildest expectations; sometimes it's just sorta-kinda okay. The bar area is comfortable and spacious with several TVs. It can get a little loud and crowded on some weekends, but that comes with the territory.
If I'm craving a crispy bar pie and a boatload of Yuengling, I am happy to come to Connolly's. It's nothing to write home about, but it's local, and it's solid, and it's unpretentious. Exactly as it should be.
Ate here a few times and the food was very disappointing.. The fish and chips were probably the worst I ever had the fish was hard as a rock and tasteless. The clams were served plain with sauce on the side. Really strange and unappealing to eat. Those were the worst clams I ever had. I will never eat here again but I will come in for drinks. Seems like no one cares about the food here which is a shame considering the money they spent on the make over. And I agree with a previous post that they need a qualified chef to save this place.
