ok let me start by saying that I lived with a Dutch Indonesian partner for 4 years and learned all the intricacies of Indonesian cooking & spices.  I also traveled to Malaysia, Borneo, and Singapura to experience the food and flavors of SE Asia. Dapur captures the essence of this region with authentic dishes and unique presentations.

This is our second visit and it keeps getting better.  The eggplant, brussel sprouts, fried calamari with spicy sweet sour dip, and spider roll were more than adequate appetizers for 3 people (remember this is a TAPAS establishment) and were all extremely tasty.  The Beef Rendang (picture Indonesian Pot Roast) and Lemon Grass Chicken (grilled, sliced, and sprizzled with Dapur brown sauce) rounded the sharing and were again very tasty and sufficient for 3 people (however next time I will follow waiter Tom's suggestion and have the Goreng instead).  I can also recommend from previous dining that the Crispy Duck, Sea Bass, Chicken Satay, Lobster Roll, Passion Fruit Pie, and Chocolate Volcano are also worth trying and will not disappoint.

If you are new to this type of menu, then by all means ASK YOUR WAITER - he knows what the chef is specializing in tonight (there are 3) and will want  you to have a good experience.  I must say, I asked Tom to select a dessert for us and he was spot on with the Crispy Sexy (Fried Cheese Cake with Green Tea Ice Cream)  and next time we must try the Ginger Ice Cream.

Oh yes, if you do not drink neat, than the house selection of wine is very adequate for those who fear previous admonitions of weak & watered down drinks but I doubt the veracity of previous admonitions.  If subdued lighting is a problem, request a table with a spot light to better peruse the menu.

The service was fast and timely, water constantly refilled without asking, plates cleared seamlessly and without delay,  entrees followed immediately after apps and was fresh and hot.  Dessert spoons and plates set out after table cleared and before dessert presentation.  As for the fare -- about $133 for 3 with 4 glasses of wine including tip.  I have seen far more overpriced tabs for more mediocre servings at other 'tourist traps' -- lets hope the tourist don't ruin the ambiance of Dapur with their limited dining knowledge and comments.

If this still sounds too pricey, then drop in at Happy Hour until 8:00 to save on Tapas and drinks.

I only wish they had Krupuk!!!

Great food here, but small portions.  I husband left hungry but I was full :)  Its pretty pricey for small portions.

Terribly mediocre and unoriginal.  I don't understand why they opened such a big place with dramatic space, and such a boring menu.

For lack of anything that stood out on the menu, we ordered Pad Thai, and Chicken Fried Rice. .... zzzzz.... It was lame.  I didn't bother to finish my Pad Thai, and I usually eat everything, or at least take it home.  The waiter came over and asked me if I was done.  I asked if the food had MSG in it.  He protested oh no!  He then should have asked me if I didn't like my dish, or if there was something he could do.  He didn't ask though.  He just put it in a to-go box, without even asking if I wanted to take it home.

The best thing about this place was the giant gold buddha.  Poke your head in to take a look, and check out the decor around the bar, then go get your food somewhere else.  Very disappointing.
