    Awesome East Williamsburg spot!

I'm glad I was told to check this place out because it is really cool. I went late on Friday night where there wasn't too much of a crowd. I went back on Saturday night around 10 and watched the crowd grow to be pretty dense, drunk and dancey. I have not seen a place with such a high women to men ratio. There were tons of chicks and it was hilarious sitting back and watching the few dudes there try to hit on all of them.

The beer prices are completely reasonable and the selection is great. Oh! And the music is fantastic. There was more than one occasion when I interrupted my conversation to say "I LOVE this song!".

This place was really cute. It was a cool atmosphere and I liked their happy hour specials. I also enjoyed all the dogs that were in the house that day.

Been a regular for years now, finally getting around to posting a review after a HORRIBLE experience next door at goose (tattoo shop).  Duck duck makes me happy between opening and 10pm 'ish, then I'm too old.  But the owners and bartenders look after you, especially if you are a regular.

Fun little dive bar in Brooklyn. One night I came here, they had a DJ playing some old school r and b and hip hop. Perfection for me. Filled with a bunch of hipsters though.

I had never been here  and was there for happy hour, which goes till 8, and loved it. The layout of the place is beautiful (reminds me of being in a boat) and the drink specials are good. The happy hour beer special is 2 for 1 on Rolling Rock and Narrangansett, so if youre too tired to piss in your own mouth, thats an option. But I took advantage of the 2 for $5 well drinks. Gin, Soda and lime was my thing and was delicious and inexpensive. They also have a great cocktail list, which are not apart of happy hour. If I had friends and a reason, Id hold an event there.

My nabe hangout. I love how we can bring our furry pets, that's why I always come! Hope it never changes.

It's good. The service is a little slow and the crowd can be a little annoying.

Best for a weeknight, so you can avoid hipsters that WILL harass you if you aren't with a guy. Meh.

Great drinks and good prices though, I just prefer to avoid it on the weekends.

Walked by here and went in on a whim. The bar tender was great and personable and didn't rush us or ignore us but provided just the right amount of attention. Had a Dark & Stormy which was delish. My boyfriend had a hot toddy and it was the perfect end to a long day. The scene for a Thursday night wasn't half-bad and if it were in my neighborhood, I'd make it my neighborhood bar.

I've been here a few times when visiting friends in Brooklyn. Cool atmosphere... laid- back crowd... good beer selection... friendly staff... def a place I'd go back to again and again...

At first when you get there you don't really realize it's a bar until you go inside. There's no signage outside and the windows are dark enough that you can't really see inside. When you walk in you realize that it's very spacious and nicely decorated. The ambience was nice. You see a lot of people talking and drinking and then you also have those who prefer dancing. I was there for a birthday party so a group of us found a corner table and sofa to sit on which was pretty convenient.

Access to the bar was a little annoying since a lot of people were trying to get drinks and there was only two bartenders available however when we did get their attention they were pleasant. The only reason I'm not giving this location a five stars is because they are cash only which is typical in Brooklyn but really annoying for me since I don't like to carry around that much cash.

I don't know what makes this place so great but it just is. I've met the most interesting people and had the best conversations here. It used to be a super convenient spot because I lived in Bushwick and now that I've moved I feel myself missing duckduck (and duckduck's prices).

I'm not usually very experimental in the beer I drink but the bartenders always talk me into something new and I almost always love it. Once I tried some seasonal beer and it tasted like rubber bands and so they replaced it for free :)

The only reason why it doesn't get five stars from me is it's a cash only establishment. That's the worst.

One of my favorite bars in the neighborhood. Love the decor - the atmosphere is super chill, dark. The crowd is always diverse, especially on late Friday/Saturday nights.

My suggestion: happy hour. 2/1 well drinks everyday from 4-8. Drunk before 9pm? Can't complain.

I've been coming here since I lived around the corner from the place years ago, and it will always be my spot in that neighborhood. I'm kind of an old broad now, so my jam is generally happy hour, when I can go in and listen to classic rock and talk shit with the beautiful Sophia and/or Jenny, who is also the owner. They are both fantastic ladies and I thoroughly enjoy the mellow afternoon hours I have spent with them.

They have really good cider in the winter, and their happy hour is perfect. I work in bars, so I don't spend much time in there on the weekends, but I know they have excellent DJs and lots of action for you wild boys and girls. Get it!

This place absolutely SCREAMS Brooklyn. If you had a friend visiting who'd never been to Brooklyn, and you wanted to introduce them to the Brooklyn Hipster Bar Scene without completely terrifying them, I'd suggest duckduck. It's fun, quirky, and totally hipster, without being pretentious.

Great drinks at decent prices for Williamsburg. The Moscow Mules are in really cool tin mugs that the bartenders have to beg you not to steal (and while I play by the rules, I was definitely tempted). There was a DJ, lots of seating, and very cool decor (lots of ducks, of course). My friend said it's quieter but equally cool on a weeknight.

So this guy took me here on a cheap date (haha) but I have to say I was super impressed!

Everyone was so friendly and the drink specials are crazy cheap ($5 for a beer and a shot of whiskey ummm college?).

The atmosphere is really what I love, tin ceiling, wood, sex collage in the bathroom and vintage furniture.

For sure one of my new go to places for a midweek drink .... but bring cash!

Maybe a was a little drunk when I arrived but I loved the decor and the overall feel of this bar! Ducks EVERYWHERE. Stuffed, stuffed animals, pictures, toys, throw pillows - never have I seen so many ducks at a bar.

Drink prices on a Saturday night certainly weren't too cheap but the menu is fun and I love the range of drinks you can get. From shot/beer drinks to crazy concoctions, anyone will be able to find something they'll like.

Exposed brick/wood ceilings only add to the feel of the place, which complimented the lounge chairs, short tables, and bar seating. Music also kicked ass - every song was perfectly chosen (probably some mix someone made on an mp3 player).

It did get a little too hipster for my taste after a while but I still had a great time. Also, the place next door was called goose...hooray!

This place is just a few blocks from my band's rehearsal space. I like to come in here sometimes after band practice to nurse a beer or three and ogle people. Once, I even made out with someone on the sidewalk! It was kind of awesome. I only wish my life weren't a lie, and that there were enough $5 Lionshead/rotgut combos and sidewalk makeouts in this world ever to fill the gaping chasm of my pain.

In warm weather, they roll back the windows that separate the interior from the street, which is dope, unless maybe you don't want people inside to realize you're drunkenly making out with someone on the sidewalk. Oh well. I really like how when I walk in and state, "I would like two of your finest cheapest beers, please," the bartenders not only oblige, but do so with a smile. Why the staff here continues to show me kindness after I have earned so much contempt from so many, I have no idea.

My new favorite neighborhood inebriation wagon. That's what I call bars now. Inebriation wagon. It'll catch on, just you wait.

    Still waiting.

While we're waiting, I suppose I can clue you in as to why I love duckduck. I will make a list to make it easier on y'all:

    1. The name. I love ducks.

    2. The happy hour special. When you walk into this place, you don't necessarily assume it's going to be a dive: there are well mixed specialty drinks, sharply dressed Bushwick-ites, and a warm and inviting environment that doesn't necessarily scream "our-bathroom-reeks-of-stale-beer-urine-and-unshowered-patrons". Then you realize they're slinging Rolling Rock (on tap), cans of Lionshead, and some of the bath-tubbiest tasting well drinks you've ever had as 2-for-1 specials.

    3. The decor is actually really cute. Rustic, unfinished wood, mismatched furniture, and cute little school desks (that are not really accommodating to those of us over 5'7...I mean really, my legs were too damn long..) adorn the place, complimented by dim lighting, velvet curtains, and if it's nice out, natural light from Montrose Ave.

    4. Bartenders don't have a 'tude, they're not 'too cool for you', and they make decent, heavy handed drinks. And they don't judge me when I order Rolling Rock.....cause sometimes you're just craving something watery with notes of alfalfa spouts and urine....

With the boom of Williamsburg to its west and the boom of the Morgan/Jefferson stops to its right, Duckduck, off the Montrose L, sits in a little island of sorts. Maybe for this reason, Duckduck's always given off more "neighborhood bar" vibes than a drinking destination. It's within walking distance of me, but there's a bunch of closer bars, so I don't get over here as often as I'd like to.

I love that the front wall can slide open, leaving it to feel expansive and airy. Love the dogs sleeping on the floor, the fowl decor (not foul decor), the variety of couches and tall seats, the Cheetos+pretzels+chips mixture on the bar counter, the custom duck happy hour chips, THE HAPPY HOUR!, the variety of beer/shot combos. For some weird psychosomatic reason I still hang out in the "old" portion of the bar, but I think it's great they expanded, as it could get pretty tight on weekends. It still can, which is why I'd recommend after-work drinks over weekend crazytimes, but whatever yo thang is do that thang.

All in all. Good drink specials, a good crowd, and good vibes. A star off for being cash only, but oh well, what can you do?

Great spot. Great music, people, drinks. Dogs allowed, which is fun when you're intoxicated. Good girl:guy ratio. Bartenders are friendly.
There's always a motorcycle parked outside that I sit on when nobody's looking.

This is my neighborhood spot and it's everything I could have dreamed of as a child (I watched a lot of Cheers).

Bartenders serve your drink with a smile. They're swell.

I cannot believe how different this place is on certain nights. Tons of white kids dancing to hip hop like it's high school prom. I like it.

    Yep, that's it. Thanks, duckduck.

I'm from NYC but have been living in Miami for the better part of my single jacket owning life. It isn't much of a coat either; it actually reminds me of one of these --

    <a href="/redir?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DMRBJcbj6AKk&s=2cb45330a87160b1bd4770463a3cae9fa846d7e46407398064a2bd0208846cc5" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://www.youtube.com/w…</a>

It was Thanksgiving weekend, the L train was rumbling overhead, and I was stuck in denim freezing, Siberian cold that was kicking me around the face and neck. I was traveling with a friend that's always prepared with her diminutive packet of baby-wipes and insulated Members-Only bomber jacket. While she was waiting for the hourglass to stop on her Blackberry, I was coordinating a safe retreat with the Yelp app's monocle function.

    .4 miles to freedom.

It lead me right to duckduck's door and from outside you could hear the old skool hip-hop was on and poppin'. Once inside I thought the bartender was offering me a British sex act when he recommended a Hot Toddy, which he didn't bother explaining over the music.

Rony Mō, "Do you know WTF a Taut Hottie is?"

Handmade Clothes Wearing, Lesbian For A Year, Hipster Friend, "I don't know but it sounds like it involves poo."

It's actually a comforting concoction of whiskey + black tea + honey + lemon garnished with star anise and a sliver of cinnamon. Soon enough I was starting to feel the thermogenic properties of the drink, and had to cool off with a Manchester Mule dry gin + ginger beer + lime + cucumber. I was essentially trying to ice bath and hot tub to my organs like athletes do post-game.

I was cold again so I had the Egg Nog. Now a word of caution about this usually light libation. If Santa were drinking this nog he'd be feeling up Mrs. Claus in plain view of the elves and would probably get pulled over by the Air Force for an FWI (flying while intoxicated). It tasted like someone poured a Mini-Moo creamer into a glass of warm Sailor Jerry. I nearly choked and thought...bartenders make drinks. Drunks make stronger drinks than sober people. Drunk bartenders make the strongest drinks.

They also make math errors. I paid with a dub and received $24 dollars change... Did I use a $40 dollar bill? I try not to make too many karma withdrawals so I told him he'd made a mistake. Which he rewarded by giving me the stink eye for interrupting him while he was grooming his ridiculous mustache --

    <a href="/redir?url=http%3A%2F%2Fdefendwisconsin.files.wordpress.com%2F2011%2F07%2Frollie-fingers.jpg&s=304ad7cdfab72c8794d9038d198df4ae83d19915a18f2f77811271d1dc4c8995" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://defendwisconsin.f…</a>

He recounted the money and gave it right back to me, like I was the dumbass.

I was pretty miffed about not getting my Happy Hour tokens but, I didn't stick around to find out why. I pocketed my extra $14 bucks and took my FREE drinks back to my seat. I briefly entertained the idea of just leaving the difference as a tip but I can't reward that kind of behavior.

Remember Santa's Egg Nog? Well once I do creamy drinks I can't go back to any other kind and in honor of "The Dude" I had a Caucasian next --

    <a href="/redir?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.thedudeiseverywhere.com%2F%3Fpage_id%3D10&s=155957e4fa2f6979a253786e61d913d2a6e8df798ab45e8940fd90e01adc4dbc" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://www.thedudeisever…</a>

Sort of, I actually asked for a turbocharged version cuz I don't drink mixers.

Chechnyan: equal parts Tia Maria/Bailey's/Russian Standard vodka over crushed ice, cuz Ruskies pound their ice into submission.

My friend who's Moldavian had to correct me --

Sanina, "You're an asshole. First of all they're Chechens and the majority practice Sunni Islam and therefore...don't drink. How does it feel to have your Rocky IV/Eastern Promises/FPS Russia world go up in flames???"

"Rollie Fingers" was so impressed by my drink he called over one of his buddies and said, "If you think it's brutal outside, you should try this guy's drink." He handed him a glass, plus a complimentary one for my friend. We cheered, spoke in faux-Russian accents, and made-up (for a limited-time only).

I ask my now "friendly" bartender about the bathroom, because I see people popping in and out of hidden doors like Robert Angier in The Prestige. He points to the staircase in the center of the room, but I can see it's a decorative one that leads nowhere.

    We exchange forced smiles.

Just then I see a guy suffering from the worst case of the sniffles I've ever seen, and wondered if things if the cause was coming out of his nose or up it. Either way both of those things are usually done in the restroom. Ladies it'll take quite a few travel sized baby wipes before the toilet is sanitized. Gentlemen, good luck in there. Heroin abusers, you'll feel right at home.

So what's not to like about the Duckie besides the bathroom? It's just a few short blocks from the train and you can get Schmidt-faced for cheap. We spent around $70 but were drinking fancy stuff. Do you know what 20% of that is...$14...which I gave the bartender to buy some more beeswax for his pedo-stache.

I've been exploring more of the area (due to a couple of Yelpers who live nearby). This neighborhood has some good spots to hangout at. This is definitely one of the good ones.

A group of us all went here after a long day. It's always good to unwind, sit back relax and knock back a few. Upon entering this place you will notice that it's a bit dark. You will also see that there are plenty of places to sit. DO look at the church pews, school desks and retro furniture which doesn't match. It's AWESOME! I want to come back here in the daytime and do a photo shoot.

The drinks here are pretty cheap. You can get a nice cold pint for about $6. For those of you who are on a budget, they do have cold cans of Schmidt for $2... Yes, that wasn't a typo. You can definitely have a good time here.

This is an awesome place to hangout with friends. Definitely my new spot when i'm in the neighbor hood!

REMEMBER to look up at the spiral staircase that has been cut in half. It's pretty cool!

I told myself I was done with going to bars after Yelp events. It's always a bad idea.

Why do I always lie to myself?

Came here with a a sexy lady, a marvelous mister and the loose los. 4 Yuenglings and 4 "Hot shots" (delicious shots with SPICE. Cayenne? Or what?) for these hot shots later, I was in the street and suddenly, magically at home.

    Watching figure skating.

    I like this spot.

Some part of me didn't want to like Duckduck when I first went in.  I'm the artist  who's generally annoyed by other artists and the blah blah blah that comes along with them.  And this initially struck me as a watering hole for artist slackers.

But the bitter bitch in me had to put her foot in my mouth on this one. They have some decent wine,  quality margaritas, a reasonably affordable happy hour, and attentive bartenders. They also bring in a good crowd when they have live music.  Altogether, there's a nice sense of comradery about this place and it always contains an engaging cast of characters...and sometimes I'm one of them.

Four stars for having that certain je ne sais quoi charm.

If you were blindfolded, put in the back of a car, made to believe you were on a plane for a few hours, then brought to duckduck and, upon removal of the blindfold, asked what city you thought you were in, you'd probably be wrong.

Between the board games, the cans of Schmidt and the hodgepodge of slightly worn vintage furniture, duckduck has a laid-back funkyness to it that feels more like Portland or Seattle than New York.  It's comfortable and friendly, and you're pretty much guaranteed to hear "Just Like Heaven" at some point during your visit.

It's not a destination bar; it's the bar you live above. The bar you lazily stumble down to on a Sunday afternoon, or pop into for a nightcap on your way home from the L train.  The bar where the bartender knows your name.  Of course, none of these things are the case for me; I don't live in Williamsburg.  But if I did......oh yes.

My new favorite spot! Only a block away from me... I'm so happy right now that I've finally experienced duckduck after admiring it numerous times while walking by.

Good drink selection. The Schmidtface is $5 and is a beer and a shot. Schmidt is actually pretty good. A little more drinkable than PBR and I love the fish on the can!

Fantastic ambiance and my guy friends loved the music selection. I love the mix of vintage furniture and the spiral staircase! In my drunken state last night I seriously considered climbing it...

Perfect neighborhood spot to meet friends for a drink and to have some fun. I will be back, and often!

    I LOVE THIS PLACE!!

I live two blocks away, and it is so very sweet to have this dandy bar right around the corner!  Sometimes, you have one of those workdays where you just need to go take advantage of some bar's happy hour.  Duckduck usually has 2 for 1 well drinks or $1 off everything.  And their prices aren't too bad to begin with.

The vibe in the bar is cozy, probably due to all the mismatched furniture and obscure art covering the walls.  They also have a fun collection of duck-related memorabilia behind the bar.

The drink/shot combos are also pretty great - you can get a can-o-schmidt and a shot of varying liquors for $5.  Can't beat that!  Also, Jenny is really fun and always has good music playing.  I heard they're looking into turning it into a music venue also.  Sweet ass sweet.

Extremely cozy and friendly bar, located close to the Montrose L stop. Great selection of beer and liquor, and always has a great crowd. Instead of the usual PBR, they have $2 Schmidt, which is surprisingly decent, and it has a red can with a rainbow trout on it, which I was really pumped about.

The bartender (Jenny I'm guessing) was really nice, and she was very attentive and talkative to everyone. Theres a bunch of random furniture and stools in the place, giving it a cool vintage vibe to it. They have half of a spiral staircase coming down from the ceiling in the middle of the place. I think I read about a bagel and drink kind of brunch-thingy, I will have to investigate and report back.

Also, I love a place that annouces they will be closed on a future sunday due to the MGMT and Ting Ting show at McCarren. Got to appreciate the local owners with good taste in music.

I've lived in this desolate wasteland called East Williamsburg for a few years now. Aside from a coffee shop with cinnamon flavored coffee that opens and closes every few months, there are no places to hang out on my block.

I remember it like it were yesterday. I was coming home from a catering job at 2 am and it was there like an oasis in the desert. A new bar with reverse happy hours from 2-4 am. Where have you been all my life? This place is great! Their claim to fame is the Schmidt-Faced, a can of PBR and shot of well whiskey for $5. 'Nuff said.

When the Duck isn't way too crowded (just on the weekends), it's a very chill spot. They have different board games you can play and even added a gigantic (5 foot tall) Connect 4 you can use. The Duck features new art from different local painters each month and they have different bands play there.

Their list of specialty drinks (I haven't tried any of them as I am a whiskey man) is pretty impressive and when it's cold outside, they have hot cider drinks. Claudine and Dennis are great bartenders and very cool. They are my favorites although Jenny and Dave do make a mean Martini and Bloody Mary.

This is the perfect neighborhood bar - it's unpretentious, super cheap and the owners, Dave and Jenny, (whom I affectionately refer to as Duck Duck Dave and Jennyface) are amazing!

The decor is relaxed and the tiny space is surprisingly conducive to live performances of local bands/singer songwriters.

Standout drink special is definitely the Schmidt Face which consists of a shot of whatever whiskey they feel like rocking that day and an ice cold can of Schmidt beer to chase it. All for $5. In my opinion, Schmidt is way tastier than PBR any day of the week: it's like beer soda.

DuckDuck is totally my Cheers and I highly recommend it to all East Billyburgers who enjoy the sauce.

I am incredibly lucky to live a mere block and a half away from the Duck, yet I do not frequent it nearly as much as I'd like to. And every time I stop in, I leave thinking, "I really ought to come here more often! I love this place!"

Duck Duck is the epitome of a cozy neighborhood bar. I wish all bartenders were as nice as Jenny. Their happy hour is pretty sweet, the drink specials are good and they offer a great selection of alcohol in general. At this watering hole, you could find an appropriate drink for whatever mood you're in. I am especially fond of getting hot cider on those cold, wintery nights.

The best part about the Duck is the atmosphere. It's pretty much guaranteed that you will hear me say, "I LOVE THIS SONG!" at least once before leaving. It's laidback and completely devoid of pretentiousness. They get festive around the holidays too, it's cute. Don't miss the live bands and trivia nights they have every so often.

What am I doing, sitting here typing this review on a Friday night? I should be at Duck Duck.
