I wanted to find a relaxed spot for my husband's birthday and found it at Isle of Skye. Scott, the bartender and manager agreed to reserve 2 couches and a table for my party of 20 people, all with no fuss and a genuine doss of Scottish hospitality. The night went splendidly, everyone had a good time and had nice things to say about the spot. Spacious, comfortable, with great drinks ( huge assortment of Scotch- a must try, some beers, wines, cocktails, something for everyone.) Most importantly, the vibe was right. It had a definitively more chilled-out vibe then some other bars on Bedford Avenue,  and  was wholly unpretentious. It attracts a crowd that comes to catch up with friends and unwind, as opposed to the 'party, let's get wasted,'  or the 'look at me' crowd- something which  my friends and I very much appreciated. The couches were great! But the service was better. Highly recommended for both small and large parties.

very excellent new addition to williamsburg. hundreds of scotch whiskies - really a staggering and somewhat overwhelming selection, probably great if you're trying to 'get into' scotch. the right volume for conversation, and very good for groups. subterranean feel also makes it suitable for drinking alone, if that's your thing. which it is. i know your story.

Isle of Skye is a nice cross between a casual, low key pub and a high-end whiskey/scotch bar. The prices are fair allowing your curiosity and wallet to indulge yourself on multiple glasses while growing some hair on your chest. Your non-scotch drinking friends will enjoy the decent beer and cocktail selection so park your group onto one of the cushy leather couches and knock back a few.

If you're new to the scotch scene, chat up one of the bartenders to get a recommendation. The menu book is super helpful and describes the flavor profiles for each variety they have in house. There is even a page listing the bar's recommended scotches based on taste and value. Their take on an Old Fashion is a worthy one and while the Glasgow Dram was too sweet for my taste, the Rabbie Burns was nicely balanced, cool and perfect for a humid day when not in the mood for straight up scotch.

On a recent Saturday night, the scene was lively but not at all crowded perhaps either due to it to being new or that it is not the kind of place to get sloshed for cheap. Anyway, I hope scotch lovers and those searching for a place to convene over good drinks and conversation take notice of this place. I see myself coming here quite often.
