    Fun bar
Pretty busy for a Wednesday night. Typical bar food, queso and chicken fingers were nothing extraordinary. Karaoke Wednesdays with the live band which was cool. Service sucks. Had to go to the bar to get drinks because no one came to our table.

This is the third Sunday that I have come in for the brunch, and each time I have witnessed the hostess drunk out of her mind and running around the bar. This Sunday, however, was the worst.

I was greeted at the door by a screaming hostess, who told me to sit at the bar...and it doesn't end there. The entire time, she was screaming at customers, ordering them to take shots with her (not that she needed any more to begin with). Her obnoxiously loud clapping and yelling drowned out the music, which was a shame because the music was pretty good. I reached my boiling point when she spilled a shot ON MY LAP as she was trying to give it to the gentleman next to me.

Needless to say, this hostess is the sorriest example of employment that I have ever seen, and I refuse to return to Duffy's in fear of her birdlike noises making me go deaf.

This was my first time going to this place and i had nothing but  bad experience with this bar! first of all they have a few restrooms with one stall each! There was always a huge line to use the restroom because of the one stall problem.  Also i opened a tab with my debit card, had 3 beers and paid cash at the end.  I forgot my card at the bar and i went back the next day to pick it up.  When i got back home i checked my bank statement online and i found out i had a pending transaction of $164 from duff's tavern.  I WAS SOO MAD AT THIS POINT!! I contacted someone at duff's about this and they said they couldn't do anything until they spoke to there boss. I understood this even though i was mad.  The next day the transaction still wasn't resolved to i contacted my bank and reported this as an unauthorized transaction. I will never go back to this bar and i don't recommend them!

This past Monday around 2:30 I stopped in to get a drink, as I have been walking all day and could have used a drink. I was by myself and sat down at the bar. The younger looking, he mentioned he was 26 to other patrons, bar tender engagingly served everyone else their drinks and paid particular attention to the boisterous man and ample figured woman at the bar, however I figured he would get around to me. I literally sat for 30 minutes unnoticed and not served for 30 minutes. At some point I tried to see exactly how long it would take for this guy to even acknowledge my existence at this bar. I felt like I wasn't even there and was invisible while he went on serving the people to the right of me more drinks, and the people to the left of me food and drinks. Very disappointing because it seemed like they had a good selection of beer.

Coworkers and I came here after a comedy show. I was kind of surprised at how big it was.

There was a stage for people to dance on, but it was awkward since the bar was pretty empty. It's kind of a bar/club place. They have TVs all over the place. Kind of reminds me of college.

Two words:  Club brunch.  Yes, it's noon, but you can go inside, down a ramp and find yourself in the middle of a club.  A DJ spins the tunes while you stuff you enjoy the brunch buffet complete with bacon, eggs, pancakes, chicken wings, fruit and of course, a chocolate fountain.  The mimosas and beer are bottomless.  The price tag?  $22.  Seriously you can nosh and get drunk from 10am-3pm for $22.  And if you want, you can extend the unlimited booze until 5pm for another $10.  I mean, other than that, I don't know what you'd expect from a sports bar in this neighborhood.  It's an average young-20s sports bar.

Other tidbit of info:  this is a Michigan bar, so they will have Michigan sports games on!

If I could give 0 I would. Waited patiently for an hour and a half for food only to find out that our food had "been given to another table" I have now waited for 30 more minutes for the food and still nothing. (Michigan game but there should still be more servers than 1 for the front area!!!)

This is my all time favorite hang out place on Sunday afternoons in Chicago! The DJ is awesome, perfect seafood selection since I don't eat beef or pork (smoked salmon, baked salmon, shrimp, crab legs) It's the most fun in the summer but I recently enjoyed my visit on St Patty's Day too! Plus unlimited Mimosa's around the clock! Not 1 per hour like other places lol! Go Duffy's!

Home of the $3 club soda. Home of the improbably overzealous AND brainless waitstaff -- I've had still water poured over my club soda, ginger ale, Sprite, whatever. Last night, as I literally put my hand over my glass to stop the waitress, she actually looked at the glass and said, "Oh yeah, the lemon, that's the signal for club soda." So you just . . . Almost poured water over it anyway? What?? Apparently you need better signals.

Love Duffy's ever since the make over!

The $20 deal on Friday is amazing and I will definitely be back to take advantage--food & all you can drink for 4 hours? Awesome.

The back part of the bar is still a little too college for my liking, but over all a good place to hang out.

"fresh" - No. If you get a chance to look at the construction, there is no way you are getting fresh ground meat, refrigerated poultry or any standard of any other establishment.

The food is terrible and seeing the storage area made me sick to my stomach.

Located above an apartment complex, there are constant belligerent people wondering throughout the building and street ~6 nights a week until 2-3-4am. At 8am the jackhammers start again, then the blasting of music starts right up again.

If you are 17- 21 years old and do not care about your health go for it.

This place really isn't as bad as some others put it off to be. They generally do have a lot of good deals and it's a great place to get together with friends to watch games as the place doesn't get to be that relatively packed (so your able to hear each other). I like Thursdays----they have the $1 burger & 60 cents additional topping special. They aren't the best burgers---but I'd take it over a $1 cheeseburger from McDonald's any day. I haven't really seen the night scene here, but I also do hear Thursdays can get pretty wild here sometimes.

Normally I would rate a place that has dollar beer night four stars but upon entering the establishment I questioned if it was worth it. All the servers (except the new trainees) were drunk out of their minds. Three different people asked us for our drinks orders and yet it still took forever to get them. When the bombs finally came the waitress said she was doing one with us (not that she needed an extra drink). She would lean in way too close when talking to us, she would yell because she couldn't hear herself, and her breath was akin to 5 year old cheese left out in the sun.
When we tried to leave a waitress stopped us saying we had to pay our tab (even though we had been doing cash all night). The trainee that was shadowing her all night confirmed this with us but the waitress did not believe either of us and continued to demand that we pay it. After arguing for five minutes the bouncer took our side and let us leave, against the waitress' demands.

Also at one point I saw a super drunk waitress dancing with a customer. Literally had one of her legs up in the air being held by the customer while she thrust her hips violently to the beat. It was hilarious but showed how relaxed the management was at this establishment.

If you can stand the frat/sorority crowd, this place isn't a bad place to grab a drink and something to eat.  The veggie burger is yummy and so is the quesadilla (although that's hard to mess up).  Love the tater tots.

Oh Duffy's, you're so fine, you blow my mind....

This is by far the best brunch I have ever been to. For $20 you get all you can eat brunch buffet and bottomless mimosas; for 5 hours!!!!!

The food was good, varied, and plentiful. The mimosas.... best bottomless mimosas ever. Our bartender (forgot to ask for his name) was awesome. I just remember sitting by the small bar.

and if you like sports.... There is a TV everywhere so you can watch whatever game you want to watch. I particularly like what is on channel "booze".

Word of advice though.... get there before it opens and wait in line. Best way to guarantee a spot. This place well get crowded (but not rowdy) quickly.

What else can I say? I love you, Duffy's...

Why are there so many 1 star ratings for this place?

I frequented Duffy's as a college student. Good music and a guaranteed night of debauchery. What more can you possibly ask for in a COLLEGE neighborhood?
It's also a huge bar, so on the weekends you probably won't have to wait in line.

Duffy's a good place to watch a Michigan game as long as it's not a hugely competitive game (think of going for Northwestern/Illinois/Indiana/Purdue, definitely not MSU/Notre Dame). If you want a table, be sure to get there early. It's a bit like the frat parties you went to in college- sticky floors, cheap beer, watching in amusement as people start making out.

I once made the mistake of coming to the bar when a Michigan game wasn't happening...big mistake. Awkward clientele in the bar area and the bartenders seem a bit clueless about anything that isn't Bud/Miller/Coors/Busch.

How can I give it 1 star? There are fights outside every single weekend. The crowd is a bunch of dumbasses that can't leave a bar without getting into a drunken argument. That makes me not want to patronize it ever again. Wish it would shut down. Would be better for the area!

This review is for their Sunday brunch, not the bar.

I have to say, I was pretty impressed with this brunch. The last bar I went to that had a brunch I was fairly disappointed by, but this place rocks. They have bottomless mimosas that are included in your brunch tab. That. Is. Awesome. The service is great as well - every time my glass or plate was empty, she was back to give me a refill or a new plate. The place was busy too, so that's impressive!

They have chocolate fondue, sliced meat, waffles and chicken, crab, shrimp, bacon, sausage, macaroni, salad, and quiche to name a few things. Everything tasted very good and was kept fresh. The only bad part was that at points, it gets crowded. Also, it was a little loud, but you can sit in a separate area that is a bit quieter. They also have plenty of TV's so you can watch whatever Sunday sports you want. Impressive!

    Sunday Brunch Experience:

The gentlemen working the door for whatever reason don't seem very competent outside of checking identification. Simple questions such as, "can we seat ourselves" are met with overwhelming confusion. Perhaps training these guys on how to greet customers and answer simple questions wouldn't hurt.

The best seats are obviously in the back towards the buffet. The food isn't anything to go crazy over but then again it is buffet. I enjoyed the shrimp cocktail, and French toast. If you're into fruit then you'll be more than happy. They even have a cheesy chocolate fountain. Once seated the waitress staff constantly makes sure you're taking care of. All the girls seem high energy, so it's almost impossible not to be satisfied between the big smiles and bottomless Mimosas. For an additional $6 you can make your own Bloody Mary, which I found to be extremely cool. They have a bar with all the ingredients so it's completely custom.

Management does a great job at showing all NFL games. There are more than enough high quality flat screens to keep everyone happy. If you're into football this is Heaven.

The DJ keeps the atmosphere feeling more like a Friday night than a Sunday morning. The song selection is everything from Jay Z to ACDC (literally). In between songs you'll hear the DJ announce new specials.

Overall Duffys is a good spot for Sunday brunch. If you don't like large crowds, and a party like atmosphere during your brunch - then this isn't the place for you.

The beer list is pretty good, and who could complain about $20 for All You Can Drink on Fridays?! The food is mediocre bar food, and sometimes the place seems a little bit skeevy, but it can also make for a really fun night if you're in the mood for loud music and drunk people on all sides.

I was here in Nov '11 and caught the Michigan/Illinois game. Great atmosphere and awesome people. Being from Canada, it was quite an experience!! It was my first time in Chicago and now I'm dying to go back. I am going in August for a Cubs and White Sox game and will be here from a Friday to Monday. I am looking for the best of the best as me and a buddy want an ultimate guys getaway. We want all you can drink bars, good nightlife and the best game day experience. Is a wrigleyville rooftop patio worth trying? Any suggestions would greatly be appreciated!

    Thanks!

It is what it is - typical bar food and drinks. You've gotta love the specials  Mondays through Wednesdays; Wednesday $1 sliders (minimum 3) and $1 bud light drafts.

Buffalo chicken and pulled pork sliders are probably the best choice; would not recommend their cheeseburger slider or most of their other sliders either.

I'm not sure how busy they get on a Wednesday afternoon, but there were a good amount of people coming in, and there was only 2 wait staff to accommodate them (they hustled though).

*I do like that back room, but have yet to dine/drink there.

Dear Duffy's Dude: You want me, as in ME, to drink from a beer bong? From a tube? That's positioned between your legs?

    *blinks*

Just because I have maize and blue roots, doesn't mean that's my type of party! But I appreciated the hilarity/secondhand embarrassment I got from everyone else who did it.

Duffy's was just okay to me, nowhere near the best or worst place I've been to. But it's a Univ. of Michigan bar and any place that supports my alma mater can't be totally wrong.

Duffy's was fortunate enough to earn its 1 star because it's a University of Michigan/Detroit bar. I don't like going here for game days (U of M or Lions) because you have to show up about an hour before the game to get a seat or you'll be standing. And it's guaranteed to be packed with sloppy drunks who are still wearing their frat t-shirts.

The place itself is pretty big, but again, when you get sloppy people, you get a sloppy place (sticky floors, cramped, smelly, and dark).

There's better places to watch games, especially if you actually care about the game.

I mean I like Duffy's but I was a little disappointed on my visit on 4/1/12.

My bf and I wanted to watch the game and enjoy the buffet. The food was good, loved the made-to-order waffles, but the dj sucked! Geez....we described it as someone just playing random songs on the radio, changing the stations every 4 minutes. The dj had no consistency and his selections were so drab. I honestly wanted to walk over to him and give him some tips and suggestions.

Rumor is they changed things up a bit because the crowd was getting too rowdy. When I visited this spot back in Nov/Dec., the dj had hip-hop/r&b mixes included.  So I guess that means Duffy's was a little afraid too many 'brown crayons' were up in the mix. If you are going to blast music like that, at least play  a mix that is representative of the entire make up of your consumers inside the place. And if the dj is going to keep playing crap music, then turn that stuff down and turn the tv's up. I was actually more interested to hear what Carlos Boozer had to say at the Bulls game while they had his mic on, but couldnt because of the dj's crap mix.

Anyway - the staff was nice as always, food was good, endless mimosas....yadda yadda. My bf likes this spot, so we will probably be back.....

This review is strictly for Sunday Brunch. The first thing you should know, is that this is not your typical brunch, this is like Midweek game night on a Sunday morning. Alcohol, loud music, more alcohol, food, and more alcohol.

I went here today for the first time with a group of friends. I suggest getting there early, especially if you have a group of 3 or more. It took us 30-45 minutes to get a table. We had our name on the list, a table opened up next to our friends that had arrived earlier, EMILY, wouldnt let us sit there because she "promised the table" to another party (her friends). She actually made us get UP from the table after hadalready seated.

However, for $20 and a morning and afternoon of unlimited mimosas and food in CONSISTENT rotation, I feel the wait was worth it. Every 15 minutes they announce a different drink special, for instance, Vegas bombs 2 for 1.

In a nut shell. This is a perfect place to go to have nighttime fun on a Sunday morning. More of a college crowd. Happy hour at 10 in the morning!! I will definitely go back for brunch just to get drunk again.

I gave this place a low rating because of the numerous reports I received about them firing the previous DJ for playing "Hip-Hop" to distract a big "Black" crowd. It was very evident upon my first visit that thus was possibly true.

Nonetheless, I've learned to accept things for what their meant to be. And Duffy's Sunday Brunch is meant to be a college lush cesspool , and I'd be lying if I said I didn't love it.

    Announcement: HALF PRICE DRANK BOMBS!
    Me: What's a drank bomb?
Nate: Something that ***** people drink.

Turns out they were GRAPE bombs....    Duffy's is the place you go at the end of the night when you're already toasted.  It helps you get past the stickiness of the floor.

Duffy's is a great place to go though.  It can be fun to have a few drinks and dance on the tiny dance floor with randoms.   I took my Belgian friend who is used to Euro clubs - he was excited about it and actually asked me later where we had gone so he could take his girlfriend.

Duffy's is unique in its own way and sometimes can be more fun than planned.

Have you ever read about brain drain?  It's a phenomenon in which the most intellectually gifted and technically skilled individuals leave their home country en masse for better economic and social opportunities abroad.  The state of Michigan has experienced a brain drain of its own of over the course of its economic decline.  Talented Michiganders have set off for Chicago, New York, and other major cities nationwide.  But unfortunately for Duffy's, the dumbest and least interesting Michiganders have chosen to make camp here.

I'm too old for Duffy's now, and I was never quite stupid enough to appreciate it, but it has left me with some fond memories.

Christmas 2007 - went to my company party in the Loop.  Open bar.  When that was over, crashed my old company's Christmas party midway through.  Also an open bar.  Ended up at Duffy's.  At the end of the night, walked two miles home in ten degree weather in an effort to sober up.

NYE 2007 - fooled into thinking that NYE at a bar was the thing to do, spent the evening at Duffy's.  After a light dinner at home, ate roughly 80 shrimp at the Duffy's spread.  In pursuit of every drink consumed, spent 25 minutes at a three-deep bar.  Later watched people file their exit applications from the human race by dancing to Soulja Boy, the "song of the year", in the DJ's words.  Even later, smoked the last legal cigarette in a Chicago bar.  Yes, that is indeed my record.

Summer 2008 - Michael Phelps's last millisecond win in the 200m butterfly briefly made for the loudest bar atmosphere (music excluded) I've ever taken in.  And on that note, I nod politely in the general direction of this bar.  That was quite a moment, even if it was a bunch of Michigan expats cheering for own of their own.

If you've called Michigan home, and you enjoy Bud Light and garbage music and vomit on the floor, you've found your bar.  Everyone else, keep looking.

I came here as part of the Cinco de Mayo bar crawl drink deal for $20. When we first walked in it was crowded and stuffy but as soon as you get through the tunnel, BAM! The inside is like a giant cavern of fun! The well drinks weren't bad and the Mexican food buffet was also decent with a Corona or a margarita. The bathrooms were also extremely clean and well stocked which is very surprising seeing as how it was 2 am when I finally made it in.

I have heard that the brunch is very good and cheap. As far as sports bars in Chicago are concerned, I was extremely impressed by the cleanliness and the quality of the staff. The clientele was also very diverse which was a breath of fresh air.

Looking for an awesome drink deal? Hit up Duffy's!

Well, I first heard about how great this place was about a month ago.  The food, the mimosas, but overall the atmosphere (a party/club kind of atmosphere).  I went about four weeks ago with two friends and we had a blast, had our fill of food and drink.  We sat in the front but noticed how much fun people were having in the back when we'd get more food.

I went back this past Sunday with more friends, got there at 10 so we'd be guaranteed a seat in the back.  Everything seemed to be the same...everything except the MUSIC.  Rock & Roll, old stuff at that i.e. not what is current or popular (R&B/Hip Hop).  It's no secret Duffy's is very diverse for a N Side location.  Well, I learned later that the music change was intentional to "improve customer service".  Musical Jim Crowe if you ask me....I won't be back!  And, the word is getting out too.

I wasn't greeted in a timely fashion otherwise they would have gotten 5 stars. No one really wanted to assist us. One young lady actually told us it wasn't her section and walked off!

However, once we FINALLY got pass the rude wait staff and settled in, this place was hil-ar-ri-ous. The Bears were playing and everyone seemed high or something. This was the most non-participation fun I've had in years. I felt like I was in a club at 10:00 am in the morning. The DJ was spinning music from different genres and had the crowds participation with Sweet Caroline...must be Duffy's anthem or something. I've never seen a place where the waitstaff takes shots with you. I like this place.

So upon first moving to Chicago I kept hearing about Duffy's brunch...now I know why.... because it is ridiculous and not in a good way. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt that I probably went under bad circumstances but still....

I went there on a date, not a first date either, maybe a third or something along those lines. We got there Sunday around noon, maybe 11:30 and wanted to try the brunch buffet and bottomless mimosa special.

By noon just about everyone was drunkity drunk drunk drunk, dancing on tables to Black Eyed Peas drunk. The buffet was kind of gross. It could have been worse, but it was nothing to rave about.

If you want Saturday night to continue into Sunday morning by all means hit this up. I'm all for Sunday Funday but this is like a time portal to 1 a.m. on Saturday night.

If you want bottomless mimosas and minus the shit show try Delecee or Broadway Cellar.

Bottom Line Up Front: Clown-ass, collar poppin n00bs.  Trixies in faux classy club gear. Cheap Beer.

If you like this bar you're not only an idiot, but you're also not from Chicago. Anyone who has lived in this city more than a couple of months knows that this is one of the places to avoid unless you're trying to score roofies from your frat "brah" while both of you are doing your junior year internship in the big city.

This place is moderately priced, but it just sucks so bad that i begrudge them for charging me anything for such a shitty experience. I was either surrounded by a bunch of DJ Pauley D look-alikes or these guys:

I went here for Halloween to meet with my friends who chose this place.  I was part of a group costume (we dressed up as different tetris pieces, complete with music).  I should've known when it took us forever to walk to the bar because of being stopped so many times to take pics and make tetris lines that it would be interesting.  So here is my short duffy's story.

We walked in, found my friends and settled in.  Being in a cardboard box costume made us slightly immobile.  A bunch of girls in very tight and scandalous outfits come over wooing and screaming, "OMG it's tetris!"  One girl made her way to me and was just amazed at the creativity.  Here's our convo -

girl: "OMG, that is sooo awesome!"
ryan: "Thanks, it took alot of time to make them."
girl: "Woo! i just can't believe how great they look!"

She then proceeds to dance close and pretty much grind on my box.

ryan: "You know you're grinding on a cardboard box."
    girl: "So?"
ryan: ""Ok, well if you're cool with it."

I wanted to say i feel nothing, but i was pulled away for more pics.  Then the waitress proceeded to drop an entire drink on my friend and blamed it on him, when in fact he was trying to move out of her way.  The bar isn't that loud, I can still hear you muttering under your breath.  I was more upset than my friend was at that.  Not my scene at all.

Oh Duffy's.  I can only judge you on what I know.  I have never witnessed the scantily clad, drunken sorostitutes on a Saturday night, or any night of the week for that matter.  I have never been leered at by your horny male clientele.  Thank God for that.

I have, however, enjoyed your brunch buffet the past three Sundays in a row.

I am proud to say that your mediocre food, complete with crab legs and shrimp, broccoli casserole and pasta salads, sausages and eggs, chocolate fountain and omelet bar, have served me well while I have gotten drunk off your unlimited mimosas.

    Thank you for that.

In all seriousness, the service during brunch seems to be better in the front room, but the party atmosphere in the back room is surreal at noon on a Sunday.
Do not go here on a day that you are severly hungover with a headache.  Your head will hurt more.
And this is not a place to take the fam for brunch to show them the city.  At least not my family.

Oh, and in the back room they have shot specials every hour.  Irish Car Bombs and Dirty Girl Scout were the two that I remember from when I've been there.
I don't go for the shots before 5 pm on a Sunday, but if you do, no judgements.
People get down and dance during brunch and it is a really fun atmosphere.
I have heard that they also have a Bloody Mary Station for $5 extra, but I can't verify this.  None of my friends have ever gotten it and I've never had a waitress try to sell it.

Brunch is from 10 am - 3 pm on Saturdays and Sundays for $15.95.  It is well worth the money for the mimosas alone and the food is not half bad.
