One of my favorite regional bands played an acoustic show here. Â I had heard of this venue, but never visited before. Â Sitting in downtown Decatur, and surrounded by government buildings, is this little treasure of a venue. Â This is a nice little neighborhood, with parking all around that is fairly accessible after hours, which is when you're likely to come to Eddie's. Â There's even a box in front of city hall next door where you can drop off a book or take one someone else has left. Â I might bring one next time.
Entering, you find the main door to the venue covered with a simple message. Â The performers are the only people who should be talking inside. Â You see, the acoustics in here are fantastic, and lend themselves very well to singer/songwriter performances. Â It is also a small room, so if you come in laughing and carrying on, you will be pestering your fellow listeners. Â So if you're looking for a loud party, go elsewhere! Â This is a listening room, people. Â Be liberal with your shushing of other people if they're being rude. Â I know I was...
Seating is very nicely done, with a number of four person tables as the most desirable spots, in my opinion. Â If you're late, as I was, there is a sort of small carpeted bleacher in the back right corner of the room, which provides more seating from which you can still see everything comfortably. Â There's a nice large bar and they do serve food, but I can't speak much to that as I was here only for the music. Â
As concert venues go, this one is unique in the Atlanta area, to my knowledge. Â It's a nice, small, acoustic venue. Â I'd say it's a great alternative to a movie for a date, as you'll be sharing the spectacle in place of conversation. Â The staff that I spoke to was friendly, and the cover was low for a place with live music. Â The restroom was clean, and from what I saw there were many drink specials. Â Go check it out! Â It IS small, so don't wait for someone you've heard of to play there. Â Just go.
Incredible shows in an incredible room with great sound and a culture of listening.  Drawing some of the best performers  in the country, the Attic is truly a jewel.
I have had a draft of this review on my Yelp account for the past few months but have been conflicted about posting because I ha to gripe about a place that I love. Â We want Eddies to always be there. Â And I know that they can't survive without food and beverage. Â And their food and beverage is terrible. Â Cocktails are tiny and watered down. Â If you want a medium burger you have to order it rare. Â They now have hot dogs that might very well be the Kroger brand. My girlfriend loves the mac and cheese but I find it merely adequate. Â And the service is really hit and miss.
On our last visit, I just ordered the wings which are pretty good. Â They brought them in a little cardboard container- no plates, no bone yard; just a little cardboard container like they might give you at a drive thru. Â Awkward. Â And it is hard to flag down a server during a performance. Â Also, I cannot tell you the number of times that food has been sat down in front of me there that belonged to someone else.
I realize that there are special challenges at the Attic. Â The doors are opened and a bunch of people order at once. Â The kitchen gets a bunch of orders at once but everyone does not have to eat at once. Â Some focus on quality control would go a long way. Â
With so many great options, we eat elsewhere when we have time or when we have reserved a table and do not hustle for a good seat. Â But we would really love to support the attic more by dining there.
Props for the new bar stools!!!
Five stars for bringing incredible music to Atlanta minus one for not feeding us well!
I can't believe I've never reviewed Eddie's! Eddie's is the best place in the area for live, acoustic music in a venue FILLED with people who love music and respect the musicians.
I've seen some amazing acts here - and I've never been disappointed. We try to always get a table for 4 even if it's just the 2 of us - it's great to support this place and gives you a bit more room and able to get closer up. But for popular shows, it will be cozy!
The food is comfort/bar food - but good enough. Drinks are strong, good draft beer choices, and the wine won't make you wince.
We even saw Joe Gransden and his Big Band there with my husband's 87 year old mother. We all had a BLAST.
