I find it kind of bizarre that this place is called a Vietnamese restaurant when it's clearly Americanized Chinese food, and I'm a bit perplexed about the rave reviews, but oh well.

    PROS:
+ Cheap food. You get a lot of food for how much you pay for. You get a big plate that's half meat half rice.
    + The servers are friendly.

    CONS:
    - Okay food. It's pretty standard fare Americanized Chinese food. Not too special, and you feel kind of like passing out after you're done eating. Personally I found it too salty and greasy for my taste.
    - Only open during lunch on weekdays. Apparently they know their target demographic, which is hungry business people who come during lunch break.

As indicated in other reviews, this place is a solid choice for massive quantities of tasty foodstuffs.

For $9 with a beverage, you get a choice of a massive portion of a single item with rice or noodles with a side (egg roll, spring roll, etc), or you have the option of getting 2 different "main dishes" with the side.

Personal preference is for the Curry Chicken, a mild coconut curry dish with potatos. The ginger chicken is a crowd favorite, but I am not that big a fan. The beef and potato is amazing - crispy, savory, but a little dry.

Much like the A-Team, if you have hunger...if no one else can help...and if you can find them...maybe you can hire...Eden Restaurant.

Oh, and bring cash - this is not a corporate card establishment.

Everything here is great.  My favorite is the beef and potatoes, I have had nothing else like it.  Crispy thick cut potatoes chips tossed in a sauce with tender thin sliced beef.  The egg rolls are also the best I have ever had from a restaurant by far.  For $7.50, this place is a great value for lunch.

I have got to believe that these reviews were paid for by the restaurant.

This was the WORST Chinese (certainly not vietnamese) food I have ever eaten. Egg rolls taste like cardboard and the Ginger Spicy Chicken was horrible - tasted like they added curry powder (a westernized spice made popular as an ingredient in meals prepared for British soldiers during the two world wars that bears no resemblance to the spice mixtures used in asian cooking called "curry"). Its spiciness appeared to be thanks to a large dose of black pepper, rather than red peppers or white pepper that is typically used in asian cooking.

It is true that the place is jammed at lunch. It is also true that the portion sizes are huge - most of the regulars ordered their food to go so that they had a built in vessel to take home leftovers (amazed that anybody would want to).

Give up on this and try the buffet at Lucky Inn further north on Shady Oak road. While certainly not authentic Chinese food, their dishes are admirably prepared and a very good deal at lunch.

I like this place a lot. Food is quick, cheap and in the midst of a business center. I love the food here. The BEEF & POTATOES w/ FRIED RICE is highly recommended.

    Absolutely!!

Love the lunch style set up! Quick and Delicous!
Spicy Ginger chicken and beef Potato are the way to go!

Just went back a week later and tried the egg rolls. Second best egg rolls i've had yet!

Great portion sizes and service is quick and to the point. Hard to find at first but in a good location for the lunch rush for that area.

Will be returning again and again

I'm Vietnamese. This is NOT Vietnamese food. This is Chinese food. Make no mistake about it.

Burned. Food was burned. Everything except the eggrolls. You could smell the burned food through the to-go container and bag.

Fried rice was dark b/c all they do is put a ton of soy sauce in it. Yuck. Where are the veggies that go with fried rice, like peas and carrots? What about egg? Nada. Gross. Salty and burned.

Noodles with meat/chow mein was burned. Chicken was burned.

Eggroll was gross. Oily mess, chewy inside. Yuck.

The place was cheap...that is the only thing going for it. You get what you pay for, guys, and this is no different.

No other Asian people seen eating in here. First red flag. After eating the food, my fears were confirmed about why.

GO ELSEWHERE. This is not the place to go for quality food. Hell, this is not even the place to go for EDIBLE food.

    This place is OUT.

If you're feelin a trip to Chinatown but just can't make the drive then give this place a try. Supposedly Vietnamese but you won't find any of the typical staples (Pho, Bun, etc.). If the name didn't suggest otherwise, I'd swear this place was Chinese.

Food is served lunch room style: get in line, peruse the whiteboard menu, grab a tray, point to your dish of choice (specify white rice or you're gettin fried), slide down to the cashier (cash only), grab utensils, find a seat and enjoy.

I got the half entree and egg roll side. Can't imagine what the full entree portion is like cuz I had a hard time finishing half. Food is good, filling and affordable. Service is quick but limited. Great for a brief getaway from the day to day grind.

Been going here since the 90's. I found out about it through a friend who loves food and great deals.

Can I tell you...I love this place.  I go out of my way to get there whenever possible.  My perennial favorites are Spicy Ginger Chicken and Beef Potato.  I am always amused by the amount of people that know this place; given it's location, it has to be completely through word-of-mouth.

Generous portions, friendly staff; this place is like a precision piece of machinery.  If they run out of a dish, they provide you with your sides, you pay, and in short order they bring it out to you. It's fast, even during the slammed lunch rush.

    Cash or Check ONLY!

Ask around, I promise you know someone who's eaten here and belongs to the "club".

This restaurant could be considered the best-kept secret in Eden Prairie.  It's located in a pseudo industrial area of the city, in the corner of a business building...with hardly any form of signage on the road leading into the parking lot.  Family owned, and CASH-ONLY...make sure you have real money in your hand before going here.

Lunch is a steal at a little over 7 bucks for a heaping plate-full of delicious Vietnamese fare.  I highly recommend the Potato Beef and Spicy Ginger Chicken with a side of fried rice and an egg roll.  Believe me...they put HUGE scoops on your plate or in your takeout tray.  You will not be hungry after this meal.  Not only is there a lot of food...it is simply top quality Vietnamese.

The menu usually consists of 4 or 5 options from super spicy to semi-bland, depending upon your taste.  I say go spicy or go home.  Order up the Spicy Ginger Chicken, and be sure to grab a small container of their home-made hot sauce....it goes great on the bland fried rice...and complements any of the choices on the menu.

The staff are very entertaining to watch as you wait in line, and very, very friendly.  Heed my words...at lunch-time, be prepared to wait in line...this place gets busy.  The restaurant interior is about as plain as they come...but suits its' purpose of feeding people efficiently, and on the cheap.

If you're looking for some of the best Vietnamese food in the Metro...this place is worth a visit.  HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

I love everything about this place.  They serve freshly prepared asian food that tastes incredible and their serving sizes are generous.  Their service is also fast and efficient.

My favorite spot for lunch when I'm in MN on business.  They may be off the beaten path, but they are a popular spot for a good reason.

This place is absolutely worth the trouble it takes to find it. I definitely recommend the Spicy Ginger Chicken with Egg Roll Combo. You can't beat it for $6.95, especially with the portion size you get. It's a great place to grab a quick lunch to take back to the office. Only drawback, as other posters have stated, is that you can't use your check/credit card; however, since they are one of the few places that still take checks, it works out just fine if you don't have cash. The staff is super friendly every time I have been in, and I definitely recommend it to others.

No-nonsense asian food, with a short, rotating menu of all good dishes. Staff is very friendly and efficient. Food is served cafeteria-style, but always fresh since the lunch crowd makes turnover frequent. They run lunch like a well-oiled machine (like a really good sub shop), and if you happen to get there just as your favorite dish has been emptied, they will bring the steaming fresh plate out to your table as soon as it's ready.

As others have written, this is a truly a hidden gem, hiding in an industrial strip mall with only a tiny road sign to point the way. Recommended for a spicy, gingery hot lunch in a flash. Bring cash or check, ignore the strip-mall decor, and enjoy with a friend!

It's been 10 years since I first ate at Eden, Beef and Broccoli was my original favorite. I worked down the street so a couple times a week that would feed my hunger. I went there another day and they were not serving Beef & Broccoli so I tried the Hot and Spicy Ginger Chicken. That is my favorite. Now I work downtown Minneapolis and can't get here often enough any longer. Actually they do offer cash and check payment options so go get a taste of the best Asian Ginger Chicken you can find in Minnesota. You will certainly be back for more.
As a matter of fact, I'll be there for lunch today so see you there.

THANK GOD these guys are STILL around.  I was introduced to this little spot over 15 years ago and I'm so happy they are still serving their amazing food!  I live in California now and when I come in to Minneapolis I make stopping at this place a total priority.  Their spicy ginger chicken with fried rice and an egg roll is so wonderful that I can barely stand to wait a whole year to eat there again!  I've tried SO HARD to get the recipe from these guys and they just smile and nod as they hand me my to-go order.   If you can find them...GO NOW....and ship me some while your at it!

I agree with the other reviewers, this place is a real find.  Great place to go to lunch with coworkers for a quick, tasty lunch.  For how difficult this place is to find, I could not believe how popular it was. There were over 30 people in the line to order when I got there, but the line moved pretty quickly.   I wouldn't call the food authentic Vietnamese cuisine or anything, but it is fresh and good, more.  Ordering is Panda Express style where you select rice or chow mein and the number of entrees.  Makes a good lunch spot, I'll be back.

What a hidden gem this place is.   If you know another person that even knows about this place, you'd probably high five eachother.   It's cash only, horrible decor, cafeteria style Vietnamese in an old office building setting.  It's amazing that they can even get a license to have a restaurant in this location.   It's absolutely bizarre, but it's always packed for lunch.  The reason it's packed is because their Spicy chicken is absolutely insane, and there egg rolls are great!   It's better then most Vietnamese restaurants I've been to and half the price for the HUGE portion you get.  2 scoops of rice, and 3-4 scoops of meat.   Their Chicken curry is also great, and the Beef and Potato's is amazing with a little of their mustard on it.

    Pros:
    Huge Portions ( 2+ Servings ) for cheap ($6.95)
Really tasty stir fry served on fried rice, noodles, or white rice ( fried rice is assumed unless you specify while ordering )

    Cons:
Really hard to find ( Hidden corner of strip mall with blue roofs )
Busy During Lunch ( How do people even know about this place? )
    Limited Payment Options (Cash Only)
    Limited Hours (11am - 2pm )

A coworker recently introduced me to this place tucked away in the corner of a commercial business park off of Shady Oak Rd in Eden Prairie.  You would never guess that a restaurant would be there surrounded by offices.  It is quite a remarkable restaurant.  This place is only open three hours a day, five days a week.  Monday through Friday 11AM-2PM.  I wondered how a business could survive with these kinds of hours but when I arrived it was very busy and they seem to have a pretty loyal customer base.  It is an extremely simple but effective business model.  There is no advertising; all of their business comes from word of mouth and repeat customers.  They take orders and serve food similar to a cafeteria style and they have about five entrees available that change with the day of the week.  The service is fast and friendly.  They only accept cash (and maybe check?) as a form of payment so don't arrive with only your credit/debit card.  The food is wonderful.  I especially recommend the spicy ginger chicken.  Best of all: The portions are huge!  I got a to go order today and it is enough for two meals.  I got a combo plate which had two entrees and white rice and cost $6.75.  I am sure that I will return again and again!
