I am no longer a big club person, but when I wanted to have a good time: Esso it is. Now if you don't want to pay or wait an hour in the line, do not come here. They will hold the line. The spot is on the hood side. So if you are not a fan of ATL music, hole in the wall reggae spots, I would also pass. I give all this disclaimers, because you have to know what to expect and appreciate what they are offering. Amazing music, great dance floor, and good people. It is nicely decorated inside and you will have an amazing time, once you get it.
Review Source:STAY AWAY!!!!
PLEASE READ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I would give this place zero stars if I could!!!!
Ok...so we went to see Gucci Mane perform so I was expecting to have a great time. The "security guard" told me not to stand by the bar if I wasn't buying drinks. I clearly had two drinks in my hand, & it was packed, I'm talking elbow to elbow so there was literally no where for me to move.
When I told the dumbass security guard I couldn't move, he got in my face, and yelled at me saying "OH YOU GONE MOVE, OR YOU GETTING THE HELL OUT"
Of course I yelled back, I refuse to be disrespected. He was so close to me that we were touching. This was a huge 6' 5 security guard yelling at a group of females.
I didn't leave because Gucci is my fav artist and I came just for him. my friend took one of her heels off to adjust the straps and that's when the same security guard came over waving his flash light and yelled "YOU SEE ME TELLING EVERYONE ELSE TO KEEP THEIR SHOES ON SO WHY WOULD YO STUPID ASS TAKE YOURS OFF?" at that point we had enough.
Gucci had already performed so we cussed out that disrespectful robo-cop and left.
I have friends that come from out of town and always want to visit this place. I tell them hell no. I would tell my worst enemy hell no!!!!
I hope this place gets bombed, blown up, or destroyed!!!
It's Carnival time in Atlanta again and the parties have begun! On Thursday night Hubby and I started off our weekend with dancing and palancin at Esso Night Club in Atlanta. It was Flag Party time so that means bring the flag of whatever country you want to represent and let the music take you there. I was deeply impressed with the vicinity. It's nicely decorated, large, has multiple areas either to dance, lounge, and or catch your breath. It surpassed my expectations and we enjoyed our time thoroughly.
Upon walking in you'll notice a fairly large bar, nicely lit with blue neon lights surrounding it. A small open area to your right where some people were dancing and a DJ booth. The sounds coming from the booth was pumping and it hit me immediately. This is something I love to experience when walking into the club. It gets me going right away. To your left are the restrooms and another open area that could be for dancing or just hanging out. Right in front of the bar sits soft couches and some small tables that looked sectioned of as if it were VIP. The reason I say that is because there are similar areas further inside the club that are VIP. I loved the double entrances that lead into the larger area of the club itself. Here is where you'll find a dance floor that is accessible by stairs, two more large bar area, multiple VIP sections, and a DJ booth that sits high above everything else. The club was well lit, not dark and dungy feeling. Neon light in many colors lit up the dance floor, bars a seating areas. They also provide a decent sized finger food menu and drinks galore. Towards the back there are doors that lead to the lovely outdoor/rooftop/patio area where you'll find it nicely decorated in all white everything. From the tables, to the chairs to the couches, to the drapes that separated each area for an intimate private setting. We ate our shrimp kabobs and fries out here.
Smoking is aloud inside the club but because of it's size you can hardly tell anyone is smoking in there. Believe me, I've been to those clubs where your whole wardrobe and hair smells like smoke when you leave and this is not one of them.
Everyone looked like they were having a good time and had their flags in their hands waving it around, representing their country, and dancing to the beat of the music. It was live! We were live! The party was live and was not done until 4am in the morning.
Club Esso is usually a hip-hop club so the vibes will definitely be different. All I can say is give it a try you just might like it.
No, No, No !!!!!
This spot is very hood, everything screams "You are in the hood"
A guy was eatting a box of chicken in the club!!!!! I never saw this before in my entire life lol... Drinks had no liquor in them.. Pure disappointment. We left way before the let out! I wouldnt recommend this spot to my worst enemy !
Everytime I go to Esso I always have a pretty good time. I've been on friday and saturday night. Good crowd, good music, everyone thats works there are nice and courteous. I like the fact that there are two rooms that plays different music and one room has a little lounge area where you can sit. they also serve food now which is a great addition. This is a perfect club for a girls night out or just celebrating a birthday party. 4 stars! The only negative thing I would say is they hold the line and you'll be waiting for a LONG time if you are not going through VIP ( Not a good move if it's cold outside, learned that the hard way). So to avoid this I would suggest adding your name on a guest list if you don't want to pay.
Review Source:Honestly, I had a lot of doubt coming to Esso based on previous reviews, but me and the crew gave it a shot anyways. Â Being out of town, I didn't know what to expect, so we made sure to come early.
We came here on a Friday night. Â As most clubs usually do, they made people wait until there was a sufficient line buildup. Â However, unlike some clubs (ahem, Compound), the line was extremely quick without any hassle from the bouncers. Â It was free for men before 11 pm, and 11:30 pm for ladies.
Esso has two separate rooms: Â the bar/lounge area and the main dance floor. Â The main dance floor didn't open until after 11:30. Â Once that room opened, it was on! Â The main room is very spacious and can hold a lot of patrons.
What about the drinks? Â Now I know drinks can be expensive depending on where you go, but $10 for a cranberry and vodka? Â I guess that's how it is in the A! Â The bartender was nice though and made good drinks.
The DJ was on point pretty much a good majority of the night, until he started repeating songs from earlier that he played. Â One thing I cannot complain about is the fact that he kept the women moving.
Speaking of women, there was a sense of "groupie love" that hit about 75% of the women at Esso. Â Once the celebrities came to the party, the dance floor vacated quicker than a pack of mice who found out that there was no cheese. Â The dance floor straight stage left, literally.
Another thing to point out, as other reviewers have mentioned, is the fact that smoking is allowed here. Â Pretty much anything goes, so be prepared.
Not a bad visit at Esso. Â Not the best experience, but not the worst either.
Better than the Velvet room I can tell you that. Its more of a laid back grown and sexy spot. They dont really dance to much here, I can say however the people who do dance are usually out of towners or people who just started clubbing.
Friday - 107.9 hosts with Emperor Searcy, the music is usually hip hop, after they go off the radio at 2, it gets a little more 'real' in a sense because they let their hair down as far as hip hop music goes. A lot of AUC, and State kids come here so its really a college crowd with 20 somethings. Males dominate on this night, ratio is prob 2-3guys to 1 girl.
Saturday - is grown and sexy more mature crownd. they play a variety of music, old skool, new skool, up top, dmv, cali, etc. the people in here dance, but selectively age randge from mid 20s-late 30s. Ratio is prob 1:1, evenly dispersed. Drinks are small, but good if you get the right bar tender
The bathrooms are clean! One of tthe few clubs that have a clean bathroom. All in all a good club that will be around for ages.
To get in, like all other clubs, esp if a celebrity is there the general admission line will be long, (dont fret though, free parking, doesnt get as crowded as it used to) VIP is about 40-60 depending on the night. They sometimes honor email passes, sometimes dont. But if you get there early enough, you're good.
Well lets see, I am sorta cheap at times and this place gives you what u pay for. Â Myself and my gurls came down to hang for New Years. Â It was only 20.00 to get in advance. Â So naturally our cheap butts took advantage. Â First of all it was sorta nested in the hood. Â Parkin was free and plentiful. Â The crowd was 20's and not so classy. Â Come on, it's new years, meaning Jan, put some CLOTHES on! Â The place was a decent size with entry loung type room, reggae room and main floor. Â It got packed of course. Â The ballon drop was nice and so was the champagne. Â It was an interesting hood experience.
Review Source:My friend put our names on the VIP list, we got there at 11:00, and got in fairly quickly, so that was ok. The front part of the club, was damn near empty, I could count how many people were in there. Not guesstimate...count. We went to the back and it's really big. Their drinks were good. I had one drink, just a Sex on the Beach, and the bartender was really friendly and nice. Other than that, the dj couldn't decide whether he wanted to play the newest stuff that's on the radio, or some old stuff that had me like "huh? where does this fit?" The guys were just standing around..some guy, whom my friend says "is there all the time" just comes up in front of me and started grinding on my leg. I Â just stopped dancing and glared at him. get the f*** away from me, you random ass dude! Is what the glare said. The girls there just kept bumping into me and each other with their wild ass dancing. Some guy was so drunk that every time he got a new bottle of beer, it slipped out of his hands, and broke all over the floor. Luckily, the janitor guy scurried onto the floor and came and cleaned it up...every 5-10 minutes. All in all, a small amount of good moments, but I can definitely do without going back.
Review Source:I've been twice and I always have a good time. The music selection is much better than many nightclubs in the A. Unfortunately, the crowd is so much more rugged than other establishments I frequent. Every other person is puffing a black-n-mild, so I leave with sooty hair and coughing up a lung. I was sick for a week after my last visit so I won't be going back. Another draw back is their VIP for ladies is $40, booo.
Review Source:I've been to Esso's twice so far, and I enjoyed myself both times. It's not super fun, but it does the job. It's almost always free before 11 for ladies, but you WILL wait in line for an hour, so plan to get there at 10. Otherwise cover is $20. On top of that they will only let you into the front part of the club until 12, so there's 2 hours of your life basically wasted. Once you get into the main part though, the dance floor is nice & big (though sometimes overcrowded) and the drinks are good, with a Long island running you about $10.
Girls, be prepared for sketchy guys to try and holla at you constantly, rubbing up against you and all the rest... and the smell of weed is intense (good place to go if you're looking for some I'm sure...). So you come out smelling gross, but that's how it is with most clubs.
The music is good (hip-hop), and most people are there to dance and have a good time. The crowd is mostly in their 20's & not really preppy (like Velvet Room) and it's 21+ so you don't get the annoying high schoolers like at some other clubs. I really liked the outside patio area in the back too for when your feet start hurting and you just wanna chill.
I will never go back to Esso's ever since I seen a girl get choked up by a guy there. I don't know what she said but it wasn't right at all. Another night that I went, I was at the bar trying to get a drink and a guy was posted up by the bar and I said, "Excuse me" and he looked me up and down and wouldn't move. I thought he was joking, then realized he must have been on the roll (pill) or something cause he looked zooted. So I repeated myself, "Excuse me" and he said "bitch, go to the other side!" That's when I said it was time to go.
I told some of my buddies who were here in town one weekend to go to Esso at their own risk (they are prep/pretty boys). They went and left within an hour of being there. They said a guy slapped a chick and then the crowd started throwing drinks on the guy. They left cause their shirts got all messed up from the liquor being thrown. Although they shouldn't have been in the way (is what I told them!), it was clear to me that Esso was rude and Ghet-to and not my cup of tea. I'll stick with Dreamz or the Velvet Room.
Ladies are free before 11PM, so hurry to get your *ss kicked by some looser who is probably on the down-low or is high on PCP!
I can say that Club Esso is pobably the best thing going for the 21-25 crowd. Â The regular Friday and Saturday nights have grown to have a considerable amount of people who are looking forward to enjoy a night of good music. Â Being that it is in East Atlanta, you get a mix of a crowd. Â From those who will wear their fancy linen to those who would rather just be casual and wear their jeams and rock a nicely fitted polo and some timberlands. Â Esso had accomodated some of the well known and local talent. Â From Gucci Mane to Lil' Wayne, you have your pick. Â Friday nights have become more for the college crowd while saturdays has moved towards the "grown and sexy" crowd. Â I've personally had my birthday party there and the service was something to admire. Â Making reservations was very easy and the staff are willing to work with you if you have any changes to make within a certain amount of time.
Review Source:Maybe I've just been out of the club scene for too long, but my experience at ESSO left much to be desired. From the reviews on YELP, I was expecting much better. Seeing as how I've often found the clubs in Atlanta completing lacking in an "experience" maybe my standards of what constitutes a solid club are way too high for the city.
Regardless, we arrived early only to have to stand in line. Bewildered at how the appearance of the parking lot could translate into needing to stand in line to get in, we assumed our places in a spot light lit line. About 30 minutes later, we were allowed in...and promptly stopped. Ushered into a "waiting room" consisting of some bench seating, bathrooms, a horrific dj, cheap wood paneling and crown molding meant to fool you into thinking they'd put some work into the decor the bright spot in the pre-club experience was the bar, which appeared to be pouring freely. I didn't have a beverage, but my two friends did and both seemed happy with their drinks.
After determining that access to the club proper wouldn't be gained until "clubbing hour" at 12:00, we stood around in a funky bunch and watched the crowd (and temperature) grow. It's important to point out that the music was horrible. I don't know who was dj'ing, but he should have his Toshiba laptop taken away from him. Digressing...music bad, crowd big, standing around = not good.
When they finally let us in, we were treated to a much larger area with two large bars, a large VIP area, and a nice sized dance floor. It took another good 20 minutes for the dj for the large section to get to anything worth dancing to. He did, however, and we headed out. We got about two songs into it and it was back to crap. I don't understand how it's hard to consistently play music that people can dance to. In any case, the usual dance flood groping and "hey baby"'s commenced and we decided we'd had enough.
Like I said, I've been out of the scene for awhile, so maybe this is how it is now. It seems to appeal to plenty other people.
Me and my girls were planning to have a pretty early night, dance off dinner and be okay to work Sunday morning. Got into the club around 11, and unbeknownst to us, were in for an hour of standing around in club purgatory, with ridiculous music playing. The actually clubbing doesn't begin until midnight. The crowd was cool, drinks were good, and the dance floor amazing, but the music was unreliable and we left around 12:30. Feeling pretty "meh" about the whole experience. Now, I don't go out enough to know if this "pre-club" thing is common at other places, but I just feel like esso wasted an hour of my time.
Review Source:Very cool club over in East Atlanta. I've only been here twice, but I really, really like the size -- this club is huge!!!! Â There are two rooms, the one when you first walk in has a long sectional for sitting and chatting (or pre-nursing the hangover that you might have in the morning!) with a DJ. If you walk a little farther, you'll enter the big room with a different DJ and a new vibe. The dance floor is actually a dance floor...and there is ample room to walk around complete with a VIP section overlooking the dance floor. I can't comment on the drinks because I don't drink, but my friends surely got a nice buzz from the bar each time we went. Ladies, if your heels cause your feet to go numb at any point during the evening, don't you dare sit on the steps...the security WILL call you out! Not right at all!
Best thing about Esso: HUGE FREE PARKING LOT!!!!!..one more time...HUGE FREE PARKING LOT!!!!!!!!!!!! You don't have to worry about coming out after the party is over to find your car (or not find it) booted or ticketed.
