Wow, after reading the other Yelp reviews, I must have eaten here on an "off" day. Â And by "off" day, I mean really good.
First, our waitress, I'll call her "hippie chick" was a really good server. Â Greeted us promptly, refilled our drinks, got our order right, delivered everything to our table correctly. Â
Next, the food was amazing! Â We started with a wonderfully prepared babaganoush appetizer plate. Â It was tasty, plated well, and served with warm pita bread.
Then, we each had the falafel plate. Â It included 6 perfectly prepared falafel balls, Mediterranean salad, more warm pita bread and tzaztiki sauce. Â It was delivered to our table, warm, perfectly prepared and enough left over for lunch the next day.
Finally, we eyed other people ordering hummus and it looked to good to pass up. Â The server brought our order, with more warm pita, to our table almost as quickly as we requested it. Â Again, it was great, but also left plenty for lunch the next day.
Saturday lunch for 2 for $20, nicely prepared food and really good service, and the smell of the lone person at the next table smoking orange hookah all by herself! Â A really nice meal in a really cool setting.
This place is in a great spot, but that's about the only thing it has going for it.
The service is terribly slow, even though they're friendly about how long they take. The tables weren't bused and there wasn't a set up for guests to bus them. They only cleared tables when someone new came in. It was a catastrophe. I can't imagine that anyone who was there the night we were would ever return. I know we won't.
We ordered a variety of dishes - pickles and olives, stuffed grape leaves, falafel wraps and a mediterranean salad. All were sub-par. Luckily, it was inexpensive, so I wasn't very upset about it.
If you're looking for truly fantastic Mediterranean fare, head to Safier on Fourth Street.
I picked up a gyro the other day and was so disappointed. The pita was stale and the meat was dry making the sandwich hard to even chew. My boyfriend had it a few weeks ago and said it was good and fresh so I'm not sure if I want to give it another try or not... Maybe I should ask if they have fresh bread and meat before I order but that seems silly so I probably won't ever be going back. Very disappointed because it is so close to me and I love a good gyro.
