Farside is a good place to just go chill after a long day of work or school. It's not the place to go if you're looking for dancing or an active atmosphere. But they have darts and usually $3 drafts and I always have a good time here with friends. And they also have this nice little seating area in the back which is perfect for summer but also has a little fireplace for when it gets colder.

This bar, for me, is soo college. And that is not a bad thing! This was my go-to spot when I went to school at Stevens (GO DUCKS). It is your typical bar with your normal selection of drafts. I feel what defines this establishment is the great people and awesome bartenders and servers.

The bar is pretty spacious in the main room, with a patio in the front for nicer days as well as a back patio to lounge and spread out some more. There is a dart board by the front, and the entrance has black lights for those who think that's cool. I've played many cricket and baseball games on that dart board (granted I was never any good).

Whenever my core group of college friends want to meet up in Hoboken, we'd always default to Farside. This is where I've wandered off to when stressed out for Finals, celebrating Senior Week, and catching up with the bromigos over some Black & Blues. I've recently tried their food and have no complaints. The chicken fingers and quesedillas were nothing out of the norm, but oddly addicting. Big shout out to Izzy the server for always making sure we were helped in a timely manner.

Needless to say, I'll be back to Farside more often than not. I've never had a bad experience here.

Random note: last time I was here, an elderly band was performing with this old Korean lady on the drums. She was pretty solid.

Farside is OK--nothing more, nothing less.  The back patio is nice and the bathrooms are relatively clean, but the bar lacks any sort of unique quality.  It's true: the place is either completely empty or fire-hazard packed.  I prefer Mikie Squared, esp. for Sangria Sundays, as far as Hoboken bars go.

Friendly staff, $3 Labatts all day every day, outdoor seating in front and back (with fireplace), good tunes on the juke box, and darts.  Jazz on Saturday afternoons. Good weekend crowds of good people.  Basically, Washington's version of Northern Soul.

I have been coming here for 3 years for their butternut nipples. This place is never too packed which I like, the owners are very nice and are usually working the bar. one of my favs. Best buttery nipples in town.

Bartenders are pretty cool. It's a chill spot to sit and talk, throw darts, back room has a fireplace and extra seating, drinks aren't over priced like at Bahama Mama's or some other bro-bars on Washington st.
Never had a bad experience there even on the busiest of weekends.

Behold! An oasis on Washington Street! I've lived in Hoboken for almost four years - I'm not sure why either - and this place has stayed atop the pub rotation throughout. No lines, no cover, no attitude, no BS, no problems. It is quite simply a place to get drunk and enjoy each other's company.

The décor is simple: dim lights, spacious bar, a handful of hightops, darts, photohunt, a few TVs, canvas of Bob Marley in the corner, and a juke. No frills, fine by me. Lots of locals, and by locals I mean Hoboken lifers that predate the yup invasion. It has a great patio for people watching on a sunny day but it's the back patio that really ties the bar together. Picnic-style tables and a fireplace. Quiet and secluded. Overall, décor wise, it's a fine place to enjoy your company. There's no shouting over the music, no shucking-and-jiving around and through crowds. There's always an easy access point to the bar. Blessedly, you won't hear the Z100 hits here. It's only rock 'n roll and I like it.

I have actually never eaten here so I can't speak for the food. Bar wise, nothing too fancy or special on tap or in bottle. Cheap happy hour. If you come here enough then your loyalty will eventually be rewarded. The barstaff is friendly but can get a bit distracted, and sometimes there is just one person back there.

I hate saying this but want Farside to stay open and reap some profits, so I'll come out with it. This is a perfect place to host a gathering because you will be able to take the place over. The drinks are strong and cheap, people can spread out, and you can do whatever the hell you want. Good luck finding that on Washington.

-READ THIS REVIEW - CHECK YOUR BILL AND BE PREPARED TO BE GROSSED OUT!!
This place looked like a nice spot to go for a drink after dinner at Bin 14 with my girlfriend and her sister. We walked in and were able to find three seats at the end of the bar - we noticed there was a patio out back which we thought was cool for when the weather gets warmer. We were grossed out when our bartender literally smashed her fingers all over the orange slice for one of the blue moons we ordered and then just threw them in the drink. Not very sanitary! We ordered three beers and my girlfriend's sister ordered a bottle of Coors after. We asked for the check and our not so sanitary "bartender" came over and explained how she had forgotten to open a tab and wanted us to be honest about what we ordered... it felt like she was accusing us of lying about what we had before we even told her - after we told her she did some mental math and said $30.00 - now I know I was a bit tipsy, but I remembered that the taps were roughly $5.00 each and the bottle more like $4 and that just didn't add up to $30... so I kindly asked if we could see a bill and the "bartender" so snaps at me so rudely "I AM THE OWNER, I THINK I KNOW WHAT THE PRICES ARE" I paused and said "great, what are the prices" - again doing some mental math she rumbled off a list that included two drinks we never ordered or had... never apologizing for being rude she corrected the total to $20.00 and we paid - it's so sad when the OWNER of an establishment creates a bad experience for new customers. We will never go back, and we urge all of you who read this to consider drinking some place you won't catch some contagious illness as the OWNER likes to cough in the same hand she uses to put ice in your cup.

I've been here many, many times--have been going since 2003--but sadly our most recent visit will be the last.  I can't go to a bar that cheats its customers.  A few weeks ago I was with a group of about 6-8 people and most of us started tabs.  At the end of the night I found that the bartender (who claimed to be the wife of the proprietor) had added several drinks onto my tab.  She then argued that it was standard practice to assume one credit card paid for the whole party unless you specifically told them "only put my drinks on."  Uh, I've been drinking in Hoboken and New York City for 13 years now and that has never been necessary or expected --most bartenders are smart enough to not to assume you can charge someone else's drinks onto a credit card! In addition none of us had even drunk these drinks!  She would not stop arguing but we refused to pay for drinks we hadn't ordered. She grudgingly agreed to take off the disputed drinks and then, when two of us were signing the bill and talking about it, threatened to call the cops--for talking?!  Love to see the cops when they find out you've called them out to arrest two people for...standing at the bar and talking about the fact that you tried to cheat us.

The kicker is that going over my credit card bill, I see that she ended up cheating us after all--the amount on my bill is the original, inflated amount. *Sigh* So now I have to call up my credit card company and have them take it off.  Very sad it came to this, as I've enjoyed my previous visits to Farside.

I like The Farside. It's one of the more chill spots in Hoboken where you can grab a drink with friends, play darts, pick a song on the jukebox, or hang out in one of their outside spaces if the weather permits. Prices are always reasonable and the atmosphere is laid back.

I came here on New Year's Eve last year as well - there was no cover charge and there was a good-sized crowd- it wasn't overly crowded but it was definitely not empty. They passed around champagne at midnight which was a nice touch.

I've been here a few times and haven't had any complaints.  Oh, and my brother pretty much lives here, so there's that.

Every staff member I've met is really nice and they treat their customers - especially their regulars - very well.  They have a great selection of drinks.  The crowd isn't limited to hos, which is always a plus.  And, and added bonus:  the food is good too!

It's a comfortable place to chill out - but don't worry, that won't happen, because they even have a heated outdoor area!  Get it?  Chill?  Heated?  Okay, I'll stop now.

Eh...it's alright here.  Come for a quick drink if you happen to be in the neighborhood, but there are many other options in town that have better food and prices (not that this place is expensive, I just feel like I get more of my money's worth in other spots).  The inside is straight dive-bar and the clientele is straight NASCAR.  Not a great place for the regular Hoboken crowd to take friends.

The food is sub-par, and that's being nice.  'Nuff said.

I love a bar that treats its regulars well.  Izzy is the man and always hooks us up.

Probably the best thing about Farside is the outdoor area.  Want to to smoke?  Head outside?  Too cold?  They have a fire place.  Raining?  They have umbrellas!  Need TV? Look up top!  I'm also a fan of the dart board in the front.

Farside has happy hour deals and some others during the week.  Don't expect much on the weekend though.  Also the food is great, the fries in particular.

Farside was been, and will remain to be, one of my go to bars.

    BEWARE: OVERCHARGED AT THIS BAR.

A friend of mine had planned a bar crawl for his birthday party.  We were all dressed like fools, so the bartender probably expected the worst from us and clearly took it upon herself to try to take advantage.  I ordered a round of drinks for my group of friends - a bunch of Jagerbombs, a beer and a shot.  When I asked how much each of the Jagerbombs were, the bartender said they were $8 each, so my 7 would total $56.  I handed her my credit card and the total was $82.  How could a beer and a well shot possibly total $26??  I gave the bartender a look and she shrugged at me and walked away.  My friend said that the tip was probably factored in since I had ordered 9 drinks, so I left no tip, signed the receipt, had my bomb and we all left.  I checked my credit card statement today and the bartender must have given herself an additional $10 tip since the total amount charged was $92.

THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE.  I was not drunk (though my ridiculous golf attire probably led her to believe that I was) and this bartender proceeded to take advantage.  My friends and I will NEVER return to this bar!!!

By default, since most Hoboken bars are God awful, Farside is a staple. This place is unpretentious and has an electronic jukebox where you can play any song your heart desires. It also has an outdoor area? Sold. That's literally all I needed. No guido's? Fairly priced drinks? My standards aren't too high with bars in Hoboken, so this one gets 4 stars for being standard issue.

I was serverd tonight at farside a pudgy, overage trollish woman who was understandingly upset about her life and as a result acted like a total cunt. I couldn't believe how fucking bad she was at her job. I was furious at the fact this fucking bitch was given a job in the service industry and not the DMV.

I later found out she was an owner, which made sense to me, who would give this miserable fuck a job as a server/bartender?

Don't support this cunt's alimony check, boycott this fucking shithole.

A pretty basic Hoboken bar. Don't even think they have a kitchen. It is nice that most of the people there are locals!

Can be hit or miss.  I like the atmosphere and the crowd that goes there.  But some nights the place is just empty.  Usually they play fun 80's/90's rock, which I love, but one time we were there and they had a DJ playing club music which just didn't seem to go with the scene.

Some of the best features of Farside are their outdoor seating areas.  There is a courtyard in the back with tables, and even an outdoor fireplace for those cold nights.  And there are also tables in front during the summer, which is great for hanging out and having a beer while people watching.  Get there early to snag the wicker couch!  And they have good bar food too (burgers and such...) .

I've had some great times at Farside but have been disappointed a few times also.  It's centrally located so a lot of the time we stop there for a drink or two on our way to other bars, and end up staying longer if it's a fun crowd.

The coolest thing about the bar is its name, however I'm pretty sure Gary Larson doesn't own the joint. On a Friday or Saturday night this place is more than just packed, it's IMPOSSIBLE to move... for some people I guess that equates to a good time... for me, that equates to wanting to kill the next person who steps on my foot... don't get me wrong, the drinks are "fairly" priced (for Hoboken) but there are a hundred better places. The only "saving grace" of the entire restaurant is the Benny Tudinos is right down the street if you want a slice of pizza!

I've come to know the bartenders pretty well.  A buddy of mine and I have also recently discovered that on Friday nights MTV 2 airs the Lingerie Football League (that's the LFL for those that aren't hip) and these same bartenders are quite happy with showing the game on a few of the screens.

Game time is usually around 9pm.

There is also a JukeBox, dart board and a back patio complete with a fireplace.

    I HEART FAR SIDE

    It's a pub.
    They have beers.
    Halfway decent food.
    And TVs for the games.

    Congratulations, 3 stars.

I was minding my own business, sipping my Ketel soda, when it happened.

Sitting under the stars in the outdoor area, plus the overpowering smell of someone wearing my FAVORITE cologne (AKA panty dropper) plus a "drink" that was entirely vodka....equals DRUNK TEXTING. The ex, the current crush(es?), a few randoms....got some love from my blackberry.

Something about being outdoors intensifies my BAC by about 4x.

STRONG drinks, nice bartenders and an outdoor space in the back. What's not to like?

Reasonable prices, good ambiance, and the crowd is more yuppy and less young-20's Stevens kids.  Just what I look for when trying to have a more relaxing night out.

I didn't realize they had food here, so expect another review shortly!

i went there for the first time with roomies last night and we were very pleasantly surprised but kind of bummed that we didn't discover this spot sooner! we ordered drinks (reasonably priced) and eats (delicious, and the staff let us order even though the kitchen was on the verge of closing) and hung out back with a few other small parties. the back patio was super clutch and would have been perfect except for the high humidity and lack of breeze. no complaints about the music, either... but i could imagine this bar getting crowded on any random day. moral of the story is that we will absolutely be back because it's a great atmosphere to hang back, have some drinks, and chill on the wicker patio furniture while listening to music or watching a game.

Rarely is farside in the plans for the night, but its a nice spot to pass through for a drink. They tend to play more rock music and less pop, which is perfect!

They have a dart board, photo-hunt, and nice long bar. Service is good.

Good summer spot since they have a little roofless patio area in the back. Smokers can drink and enjoy a smoke at the same time here.

Way beyond what you'd consider pub fare-  new management is definitely ON in the kitchen; even with a limited menu, everything is made with love and great ingredients. Excellent vibe and overall a great hang.
Disclosure- I knew the proprietor as a kid and am amazed by what he's doing/will do with this place!

Met friends here last night - it was actually my second time drinking/dining at the Farside.   The kitchen has recently been taken over - although they run a limited menu, there always seems to be specials with a variety of choices.   They have definitely stepped up the Pub Grub - it's more than just frozen fried fare.    I also highly recommend the Sangria....not too sweet and delightfully refreshing.   I will definitely be returning.

Farside is still depressingly average. aside from the back patio, there's really nothing special about this place.

sure, you can play darts, but only when it's not cramped like a can of sardines. Farside swings between being empty and being cramped, and I've never seen it be in the critical and comfortable middle ground.

there's minimal seating, and it's those tiny tables that they pack three stools around. yes, Sullivan's has the same, but they have some booths as well.

I have friends who are obsessed with it, and I can't quite figure out why.

You can sit out front, inside, or in the back patio. Considering how hot Northern NJ is in the summer, I like. Now add a wine spritzer to the mix and I'm a happy rittle girl.

One word...LAME! This place has been totally dead everytime I have gone. And one time the bartender told us that my friend was on "red alert" because the bouncer saw her stumble as we walked in. It was about 9pm on a Saturday night and we just had dinner across the street. She was by no means wasted. I would like to see the bouncer try to run across the street in heals.
Only giving it two start because the bartender was telling us crazy stories after that and I think the drinks are pretty cheap.

Always a decent place to grab a drink, The prices are pretty good and there back patio is a nice place to hang out with a few friends to kick back a few beers without having to deal with to many the typical ultra tan spikey hair tight shirt AX belt buckle wearing hobokenite's....
Bonus = Magic Hat 9 on tap!
