I was very happy with this hotel restaurant after having a couple drinks at the bar. they had a fantastic selection of dark liquor, great service and reasonable prices at the bar.
I had originally wrote a 5-star review, however we had room service breakfast the morning after which was so-so and overpriced. For $19 a meal + 18% gratuity and sales tax it better be a hell of a breakfast but it wasn't.
It is a nice looking space, the staff looks pretty sharp and the menu reads well. That said, I sat at the bar alone to have dinner and watch a game. There were a TON of staff floating around. I wrote that off to a fairly recent opening. I will focus on the bar staff as they were the ones I interacted with the most. I'm pretty sure they were all stoned. When I sat down there were 7 people at the bar and 3 bartenders. They were completely befuddled behind the bar; my order (a beer) was taken twice and I was given two completely different descriptions of the flavor profiles of their paltry tap selection. When I asked about food, I accepted one bartenders recommendation for an appetizer and a pizza. Both arrived at the same time, no thought of coursing my meal even though I stated I was there to watch a game that would last at least two hours. While eating I got to enjoy a manager negotiating a tip/change dispute between the bartender and a server, literally three feet in front of me, in my face.
The food was ok. Good for MOA, which isn't saying much.
I'm a regular traveler in the area and will return again but you (Carlson) need to get your act together from a service perspective; your bartenders have a definite TGIF mentality and that doesn't work in a real hospitality environment. Second; get some REAL BEER on tap, not just the "craft" crap your distributors want to give you. There are AWESOME beers right in your backyard, serve them. Finally, pay for a TV package that allows you to show the Stanley Cup finals. This IS hockey country. Pony up!
You have a great start. Throw out the TGIF barturds, get some real bartenders and some real beer.
