Waitress named  "SARAH" Brown hair, big chest--- TOTAL MORON that doesn't know up from down.  She said she went to Arizona State which explains a lot... WOW SHE WAS DUMB !! Yet she asked us why we didn't tip her.... Really?
Management-- Please fire your whole staff and train new people!!!
Save your money and bring beer to the beach.
The waitress was really un-attentive. It even took her for-ev-er to give us our check. How ironic that they put orange juice that taste like the one from McDonald's in a wine glass.. Â The french toast with "fresh fruit" was a rip off. It mostly consisted of blueberries that had been frozen. It has a great location but the food and service just isn't worth coming back for..
Review Source:It was a beautiful day at the beach and I was hungry. Â Hennessy's was right on the corner and I was able to sit outside and continue to love affair with the salt air and beautiful scenery.
It took me a while to order as I waited for a friend. Â My server checked on me three times before I was finally able to order. Â I had a split order (eaten on site and to go) and everything was timed wonderfully!
My beverages were cold, as was my guests and lunch was great! Â Our server was friendly and polite.
Had the ahi poki here I give 2 / 10, worst poki I ever had. fries and onion rings tasted like they were sitting under a warmer all day-if it wasn't for this I would have rated higher, how do serve stuff that has been sitting under a warmer? Chef Ramsey would slap the chef here. The place was kind of dirty to.
Review Source:I think the view captured my attention here more than the food. The food was mediocre. My food actually came out a little cold but the flavors were decent. I got the egg white scramble with mushrooms and spinach with a side of potatoes and one pancake. There was nothing surprising about the food, it didn't really have "finesse" or that WOW factor. But the view was great. You're basically overlooking the beach and the ocean and its a very relaxing area to sit as you listen to the waves of the ocean.
Review Source:Service was absolutely horrible. We couldn't get refills, napkins, or even have our order taken without asking for our waitress multiple times. It was a tiny bit busy, but nothing too crazy.
It took over an hour to get our food after ordering and when we asked how much longer it would be, our waitress just said "I don't know. Soon." How about "Let me check in the kitchen" or something alone those lines? It's not that complicated!
I ordered the Frisco Burger - it was ok, but nothing memorable. A bit dry, and they skimped on the fries too. I didn't completely hate the place, but I'm not really tempted to go back either.
Food was good. Atmosphere good, HOWEVER!!!!, when we got our food we had a hair in it, THEN, we had put out names in for the HOUR long wait for upstairs balcony seating, we were given out little card to take to upstairs hostess and our table had been taken by a couple who just walked up and sat themselves. The staff would not ask them to move, so we proceeded to wait another 20 min for our balcony table. On the plus side, we complained to manager and got a free round of drinks for our group. The waitress who let a couple just walk up and take our table couldn't care less about her mistake and didn't even apologize. Besides that it was great!! Balcony was a great relaxing view and a good chill place with friends and drinks.
Review Source:Great spot to grab a beer and watch the sunset. I was asked if I wanted a small or tall beer. I asked the price difference. Instead of telling me the difference, the waitress left to check what was still on tap. I just ordered the small, my husband got the large. Come check time, I see that the tall beer is only 50 cents more than my small beer. Why wouldn't the waitress offer "hey for 50 cents more you can have the tall?" Especially since I asked the price difference. I might have still stuck with the small size, but at least mention it.
The truffle fries are the stand out here. Addictive. I had the fish tacos, they were OK.
Best view in Hermosa Beach. On occasion I come here mostly just for the drinks, though I have dined here before, twice. The food here is ok, mediocre. The drinks here are also ok, mediocre. My margaritas here are never strong enough. Perhaps I'll have to bring that to their attention next time. Again, the view at the top deck is amazing. A good place to socialize and hang out with friends. Great place to people watch and to watch and take pictures of the sunset as well! The staff here are friendly and once we had a very funny bartender who told us jokes and played movie trivia. He was a joy to have as our bartender for the night. Overall an okay place for food and drinks but mainly here to socialize after a day at the beach.
Review Source:Yep, Im a fan! :-)
I don't eat beef and have not eaten it for over 15 years. So a good TURKEY BURGER is like finding a pot of gold for me. So today I returned to Hennessy's for a second time for the TURKEY BURGER w/ CHEESE.
It was as awesome as the first time I had it!
First experience...Perfectly seasoned, moist charbroiled patty on a FRESH and SOFT unique bun.
The Parmesan fries were fresh and SOFT just like I ordered. The Waitress was nice, the crowd was Mid twenties to older mid 50's yet we were all getting along and rocking to LIVE MUSIC!
Great Time!
But that was several months ago after a very entertaining UFC fight watched at the Underground bar near by.
By the way, THE UNDERGROUND BAR,
A great bar for sporting events because of the abundance of flat screen T.V's. Too bad the food is repeatedly SO BAD they couldn't give it to me for free to eat ...well, not a third time.
The underground bars food, EVERYTHING on the menu...pardon my french, taste like hot Sh*t and the fries are ALWAYS BURNT ass hell yet cold???
So off to Hennessy's we wondered where I tried their TURKEY BURGER for the first time.
No folks,
It was not a drunken midnight burger fantasy....
The burger today was JUST AS GOOD as a few month ago, maybe even better
eating it sober ;-)
My BF eats beef and ordered a medium well MOO CLUCK OINK BURGER
which he said was perfect.
We both gave our burgers 10 out of 10 :-)
Keep it up Hennessy's!
You obviously LOVE your TURKEY BURGERS and I LOVE YOU!
Listen, it is not rocket science people. Decent burgers. Cold drinks. Perfect ocean view. Equals a great day at the beach. So stroll on in. Order a Dublin burger, (two for one on Tuesday!) get some parmessan or truffle fries, Cold beer and enjoy the perfect life. Now go... right now. Its not to late.
Review Source:If you are planning to visit Hermosa Pier area, stop by Hennessey's for a drink or two.
The nice thing about Hennessey's location is that it is also on the corner of The Strand, affording wonderful opportunities to sit and muse at the beach and the ocean or to simply watch people strolling by on The Strand. I personally prefer upstairs outside seating specially during the Sunset :-)
Servers are very accommodating and friendly! But if you are looking for a "quiet" atmosphere Hennessy's is not the place to be. Hennessy's also offers daily specials and here are my favorites:
Fabulous Friday Happy Hour - 50% Off All Appetizers - 4-7pm
Saturday  & Sunday  $4 Bloody Mary's - During Breakfast ONLY
Bottle of Champagne with Fresh Squeezed Orange Juice only $20 _During Breakfast
Tasting Menu - $15 Each Flight
* TEQUILA - Peligroso Silver, Cazadores Reposado & Milagro Anejo
* IRISH WHISKEY - Paddy's, Knappogue Castle & Power's
* WHISKEY/BOURBON - Jailer's, Makers's 46 & Bernheim Wheat
* JAMESON - Jameson, Jameson 12 Year & Jameson Gold
* RUM - Bacardi 8, Bacardi Gold & Oak Heart
Also on your Birthday WEEK, you get a FREE dinner entree! - Thursday Nights from 5PM ONLY Â
Over all a fun atmosphere with decent bar food and great cocktails.
Drinks are good! Loved our waitress. But the other waitresses were slow, forgot to get what we ordered, not friendly, and knew nothing about the food on the menu. The food, it was okay, nothing amazing but not horrible. Just took FOREVER! Waiting about 30 minutes for wings, then waited another 30 minutes for spinach dip. Overall, great view from the patio...but I definitely wouldn't return for the food and service. If I come back it'll be for the drinks and the view of the ocean.
Review Source:This is place is so chill but I think the food is overpriced! The YOUNG staff here are frustrating, for example we asked for a cup of water and she responded "Oh no, I'm not your waitress" LOL I was shocked and thought, "Can you tell someone and do your job?" Anyways try the calamari for apps and get round of mimosas and sit upstairs for a great view of the ocean & boardwalk, SMH.
Review Source:Went here for Saturday morning breakfast with wife and 11 month old son.
Here's the plus's,
*It's on the beach
*Great mimosa deal on the weekends and Wednesdays
*They do have highchairs for little ones.
Other than that, nothing spectacular about the food. Â We had the Irish Benedict and the Spinach omelet and both were average with not much flavor.
The service was great, although it wasn't that busy when we were there and overall it was a good experience. Â I might go again, but probably just for drinks with friends.
Me and my friends, we came out here last tues because it was such a nice and sunny day. We stopped at Hennessey's Tavern. We went to the hostess and asked if we can sit on the 2nd floor and she told us that it was kinda full, so we just ended up sitting outside since it was a nice day. Â The waitress came by and told us that it was buy one burger get another burger free that day. We ordered The Dublin Burger and Hermosa Chicken salad. When the food came out, both the burger and the salad was good. Â
I take away 2 stars because when I looked at the 2nd floor it was not full and the hostess could have sat us up there and the waitress didn't come by enough to see how we were doing.
My favorite hangover joint.
The usual suspects and I have a history of rolling in sweats, sunglasses, and on occasion Halloween costumes on the morning of November 1st. IRISH NACHOS are my new staple here. The breakfast and turkey Rubens are bomb as well.
MUST HAVE: #HennessyLemonades. Yup, I hash-tagged that. Deservingly so. You will swear to your friends that there is no alcohol in them. Then you stand up and realize how wrong you were. Don't worry, having 2 or 3 (or 4) is fiiiiine.
Also, I suggest eating upstairs (or on the patio). The view is incredible -- seat yourself strategically to face to volleyball court. Great people watching -- wardrobe malfunctions and all!
So the story goes... Walk in hungover, drink a Hennessy Lemonade for "hair of the dog" purposes, 1 turns into 3 and suddenly we're day drinking! Next stop, Sharkeez. Oh hermosa. Damn you.
The service is great, however, the food is not. Â We ordered some truffle fries, which are good, but it's kind of hard to screw those up. Â We got the special soup, corned beef, and it was not tasty. The prime dip sandwich and au jus both lacked flavor and the chips that came with it wasn't really anything to rave about. Â The ribs were good, but I think that's about it. Â The beer was pretty expensive compared to the places around the pier. Â It's nice to finally check it out, but I'll definitely go elsewhere on the pier next time for food.
Review Source:2 stars, one for atmosphere and one for decent service. Â I went here for St Patty's Day and ordered corned beef and cabbage. Â You'd think they were known for it, since it is an Irish themed bar/restaurant. Â Wrong!
The corned beef was tough like a $2 steak! Â No fat and the other table said their corned beef was like rubber. Â That was so disappointing that they don't do it right. Â What a let down.
People are cool and I would only come back for the atmosphere. Â Too bad I don't drink. Â Maybe the Irish Nachos or something else would be okay to try.
Just don't order the corned beef plate.
Less wait on Saturday for upstairs. Great view, and the waiting is pretty worth it.
As you can tell, I love beach brunching! Though it can be crowded if you end up going on the busiest day (Sundays) wake up earlier to do breakfast! It's worth the early awake up and drive without the whole crowd being there while you are struggling out of your bed.
Hennessey's Tavern has outside patio seats and upstairs patio seats with the ocean view plus a tiny bar. The tiny bar can seat up to 4 people max. There are plenty of tables indoors...but why the hell would you want to do that when there's a beautiful beach view upstairs? <a href="http://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=zQoNLbWcD6i_R2i6dXO34Q&userid=a7K8yNKMI_-BnUgIOepLaA">http://www.yelp.com/user…</a> You must be drunk already if you're sitting inside!
Weekend brunches includes...
$4 bloody maries from early to 1pm
A bottle of champange including a small OJ for $20
- The bottle can share up to 3-4 people or maybe even 5 if one person is not much of a drinker.
food:
Calamari - It was alright. I think it tasted super good was because we just really hungry.
<a href="http://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=5C7dd6UIruRQT8iX_srU0Q&userid=a7K8yNKMI_-BnUgIOepLaA">http://www.yelp.com/user…</a>
Lean beef with salad protein style burger - <a href="http://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=87oykVT69BWP74z4ilpmQA&userid=a7K8yNKMI_-BnUgIOepLaA">http://www.yelp.com/user…</a>
loved it. Was a little oily, but other than that. Loved it. Served with a pickle, salad and salad dressing of your choice.
Ahi Poke - <a href="http://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=DG0DAv7QDhNQEodOxDexPA&userid=a7K8yNKMI_-BnUgIOepLaA">http://www.yelp.com/user…</a>
Tasted great. It had chopped up cashews, sesame and some sort of sauce that tasted good.
Service: Well, the lady thought our Ahi Poke was our main meal and totally ignored my boyfriends order. Rude... There were 3 of us and we were hungry and wanted to share our food.. so gesh sorry lady who probably things we're fatties for ordering 4 things -_-
Overall, food and drinks were good. The lady was just a tad rude, so a minus star, else this place would have been 5 stars :)
Hennessey's Tavern is one of my favorite places at Hermosa to grab food/beer. You'll be lucky if you get a seat upstairs. Usually on a nice, sunny day, the wait can be almost an hour long. But that's because the view is amazing. Great local place to go with friends.
Most of the time, I get one of their burgers and fries, which are all great. But I ordered their Ahi Poke last time, and it was delicious! I was skeptical about ordering it, because it's not typically a place where you would order poke, but I'm so glad I did.
Ehh, this place rests on their laurels due to their location. Â
Just because you're right on the Strand, doesn't mean your servers have the right to be hungover (and show it), work at a snail's pace, not pay attention to you nor take your order after you've given customers the menu 45 minutes prior - and then act like they don't give a rat's ass that you waited that long. Â
We ended up leaving after never getting to order, and 2 sips of the worst Bloody Mary I've ever had. Â Not coming back.
Right off the beach and offers a nice view of the sunset.  I met up with a group of people on a Sunday evening and noticed the eclectic group of people. There were people watching football, coeds meeting up, families having dinner, solos, couples, large groups (like ours).  I guess Hennessey's  offers something for everyone.
The service was pretty friendly, attentive and prompt. Â Large groups are difficult to attend to, and our servers did a pretty good job. Â We didn't have to wait too long to get our orders taken, have our food served, refills made or get our checks.
The food was okay. Â The menu offered typical bar food with a pub twist (fish and chips and shepherd's pie). Â The fish of the fish and chips was of the fish stick variety, too much breading and not enough fish. Â It was served on a "bed" of fries. Â Seemed like the fish and fries were spread out to make the plate appear full. Â The cole slaw was probably the best part of the dish.
If you're a beer fan, Hennessey's served the typical fare. Similar to the options at the soda machine, you had Sierra Nevada, Blue Moon, Stella, Guinness. Â Nothing too unique.
With all the options this area has to offer, I would think that Hennessey's would provide something unique, but it was just okay. Â
Perks? Â Proximity to the beach, parking lot (enforced 24 hours) and walking distance to the Comedy and Magic Shop.
What a dump.
This place is disgusting...
I walked into the bathroom because i needed to pee before having drinks here... and there was shit on the floor in the stall on the left... and vomit on the floor.
My food was Meh. I probably wont come back....
And.... btw.... after i was done having drinks here... i used the bathroom again.... and it went uncleaned for the whole time i was there. I wanted to vomit from the stench.
