Hudson Yards is like a Cheers on the Hudson!
It's the kind of comfortable neighborhood place that's rapidly disappearing!  Don't be put off  by your first impression of it's physical appearance.  The food is really good.. I love the ribs with a kind of bourbon bbq sauce and the fish and chips!  and surprisingly, the house cabernet is more than acceptable! Â
The service couldn't be better. Our waitress, Cat, is welcoming, friendly and prompt!
Definitely a place to keep in mind if you're in the neighborhood....
This place's proximity to Jacob Javits Convention Center is primarily why we came here, although I am glad we did.
We ate from the lunch menu, I enjoyed a porkloin panini on foccacia bread with horseradish. Not too spicy or nasal-drip inducing as some other horseradish sauces. It was excellent!!
Girlfriend had the burger with swiss, medium and it was cooked as ordered!
Service was a little slow, but there was only one waitress and she was friendly and poured us water with no hesitation. Def give it a try!!
A nighttime bar that serves cafe-style food by day featuring good service and high-quality food.
Even though Hudson Yards Cafe states 'cafe' in its name, I was immediately surprised by how un-cafe the eatery looked upon entering. It's obvious this place was originally intended and makes most its income as a nighttime drinking establishment. The old building and aged bar greets the incoming patron with a musty smell. The walls and windowsills carry some grime making me careful with my light-colored coat.
After the initial mediocre impression, we were quickly seated near the front of the cafe. The server was attentive and friendly. She made us feel welcome and not pressured.
I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich with roasted peppers and pesto. The sandwich was warm a tasty with perfectly toasted bread juicy chicken. The fries were slender and satisfying, but didn't taste homemade. I was impressed by the overall quality of the meal as it surpassed the lower quality look of the establishment.
Overall, a decent place to catch a quick, delicious meal. Don't be fooled by your first impression; Hudson Yards Cafe serves quality meals.
Birds of a Feather - Great food, great service, friendly, and accomodating. Â Can't ask for much more.
10 of us walked into a private party at Hudson Yards Cafe on our way to a Phish show at MSG. Â Instead of turning us away, they invited us in on a snowy night and treated us so well. Â The first round of drinks came quicker than any other round I've recieved in the City, and they just kept coming. Â Our waitress was awesome. Â We were being treated so wonderfully and with quick service that we all ordered food, which not only was very good, but came out quick. Â A had the burger with cheddar and bacon. Â Cooked to perfection. Â We had one more round, and were off to the show with time to spare.
I had the burger with blue cheese and a side salad. My friend had the pancetta fontina panini with fries. Delicious food, reasonable prices (our total for two drinks and our two entrees was about 26 before tip), and good service. Very convenient to the Javits Center. Would return again.
Review Source:We stopped here for a couple drinks before getting on the Megabus at their new departure spot somewhere near the edge of the universe. Â I'm so glad we stumbled across Hudson Yards. Â As soon as we entered, I felt like we were at a private party--not as intruders, but rather as invited guests! Â Barry is so awesome--I've never met a bartender so into engaging his customers. Â Sat next to a guy who told me a story that still has my abs hurting.
Drinks were generous, and pretty reasonably priced--watching Barry calculate our bill using his special brand of logic --"well, the first one was on me, but I have to overcharge you for the last one..." --hilarious, but fair and unforgettable.
If you're looking for a drink before getting on Megabus (and you should be), this is a must stop.
Barry couldn't be more welcoming and engaged with his customers. Within the first five minutes he had acquainted me with all my fellow patrons saddled up to the bar. He consistently made efforts to keep people involved. A great experience.
You know Megabus is going to be 15min late anyway. Stop here and grab drink. You won't regret it.
ATTN: Javits Attendees! Â Just over at 35th & 10th is this wonderful alternative to the absurd prices and bus station atmosphere of the food court... IF you're even lucky enough to score a table. Â Pleasant pub style atmosphere, fairly priced good menu (they roast their own turkey breast and make fresh iced tea, etc.) and nice service. 35th St. is at the south end of the Javits then one block East.
Review Source:We visited this place on the way to the convention center while looking for something to satisfy our hunger. Â This is a Saturday afternoon. Â When we walked in, there was one group of people in the back and a small group at the bar. Â It took a very long time for anyone to even come over to greet us. Â After we placed our order, more people kept coming in. We waited and waited and waited -- it must have been 20-25 mins for a cheesteak, which was OK, and a salad. Â We asked for mozzarella cheese on the sandwich and got cheddar. Â On the menu, the salad listed that it contained tomatoes. Â It came without tomatoes. Â While we were there, we also heard a couple near us complain about the length of time it was taking to receive their food. Â Overall, service was friendly but not efficient. Â Probably would not return.
Review Source:One word...BARRY.
If you haven't gone here, it's a must...Barry is the craziest bartender I have meet in a very long time....very old school bartender, who knows how to make a nice stiff drink! Â
We spend a good portion of the evening here after leaving the aporkalypse event...so to get some drinks and cheese fries...it erased the event away. Â
Very welcoming...fyi...the bathroom on the first floor doesn't lock!
This place is popular with the people who work in this area... and work is why I've been here several times. It's a perfectly acceptable, basic lunch spot (or after-work drinks spot) with a full bar and a menu that's pretty American Standard.
My most recent visit, I got the 'Meza Luna' salad with sirloin tips... it's bit pricy for what it is ($20), but it was pretty good. The waitress kept our wine coming, with a generous pour... and that was good, 'cause we needed it.
This place is a little out of the way- I seriously was concerned that I was walking towards Jersey. Â However, it was great times. Â We stayed here for several hours when the weather broke a few Fridays ago. Â The bartender is amazing and most of the folks clearly hang out here often. Â I wasn't crazy about the food (buffalo wings and turkey burger) but the chill atmosphere made up for it.
Review Source:My first comment is about the bartender. He's awesome, friendly and makes everyone feel comfortable. Outside of that, it's a pretty laid back place with a diverse menu that should suit the most varied taste. It ranges from huge burgers to mussels or pasta. I didn't taste everything, but it all smelled great. The prices are reasonable as well. I went with a few friends after work on a Friday and it was perfect.
Review Source:Went for lunch, and it will hopefully be my go-to place while at Comic-con. Â While not too crowded (at the time) it seemed like a fun place. Â The food was really good. Â I ordered a turkey burger and it was, by far, Â the thickest burger I've eaten. Â My co-workers ordered sandwiches and a cheesesteak and they were very pleased. Â Prices were relatively painless.
Review Source:I had a work happy hour at HY cafe, at first i found it so weird we were going to some place that was in the middle of nowhere. The bar was ok the scene was a bit off. There was a huge mix of people old and young. This event was work sponsored so I don't know how much the drinks were.
The place was a bit awkward but I did have a good time. Considering its location I probably won't be venturing back to this bar anytime soon.
Oh jeez glad I didn't see the health violations review before going here...hey that was back in February!
This is definitely a joing, a scene-I was kinda skeptical but my soup of the day split pea (vegetarian-pretty good a tad salty) and small plate portobella mushrooms with spinach was also better than I expected. My friend had the chicken. There is not much going on in this neck of the woods so I am sure Hudson Yards is a welcome addition.
An excellent alternative to your usual NYC-speed lunch, Hudson Yards Cafe provides you with a relaxed atmosphere with great food, good service, and reasonable prices. This is the spot I take my lunch break visitors when I want to sit down and have a decent conversation.
Try their Mussels!
A real "JOINT". A bar right at the door, small tables, on the cozy side of tight. Prices are in the upper teens and higher for main meat dishes. Burgers are 8 bucks plus and worth every penny. Good fries. Salads are fresh, will custom make one for "special diets". Have had the pasta with salmon, and the free range chicken. Both sauced very nicely and fairly priced. Jukebox is on the wall and keeps the joint rockin'. Kind of a neighborhood hang-out. Nothing fancy but plenty of personality. And the food's better than pub fare..........
Review Source:This is a fabulous Hell's Kitchen secret! I used to work around the corner and this was my most fav lunch spot. It also rocks for after-work drinks. The decor is cozy and chill and the best part of Hudson Yards is it never gets crowded (being located on 10th Ave can do that)! The burgers are huge and awesome for $8-10 and the service is right on key! Â Low key.
As a self proclaimed french fry connoisseur, Â I would say the fries here are an added perk. If I were to compare them with levels of rock- I would say they rock harder than Bon Jovi.
