International House of Pancakes

It takes a certain, I-don't-know-what to get a 1 star review, but at this, at least, IHOP exceeded my expectations.

Pros:  The sign was lit up and there was available parking.

Cons:  

E-X-T-R-E-M-E-L-Y slow service.  Not once in the 90 minutes we sat there did we get a drink refilled or a status check from our server.

Dirty.  The restrooms were horrid and the IHOP interior was worn and dirty, not just dingy.

Order was not correct and server made no attempt to correct it...in fact, he wasn't even there to bring it to us or check up on us.

Honestly, I would have walked out, but I promised my kids we would get IHOP chocolate chip pancakes.  This was near the mall, so we decided to try it out instead of our usual post-church IHOP...Big Mistake.

Alright, calm down. It's an IHOP.

I came here in at 10PM on a weeknight, and while the restaurant itself is extremely worn-and in need of a lot of updating/repair, our waitress Tasja was great, and the food was exactly what I expected it to be.

My fiance and I split a Rooty-Tooty Fresh n Fruity with all of the toppings on the side, and it was super solid. Everything was perfectly cooked and really filled our pancake craving.

Solid IHOP, at least when it's not busy. Kind of gross, but you kind of expect that when you come to these Denny's/IHOP places... or at least you probably should...

This place is a health hazard waiting to happen. We came on the 4th of July, frankly because the wait at the nearby Cracker Barrel was too long. We arrived and there was a wait even though we could see several tables open. Apparently, they were short staffed because of the holiday...everyone around us had not been served and I heard several complaints eminating from nearby tables. When our food finally arrived, the pancakes were cold,hard and inedible and the eggs were overcooked. It should not have been open for business if the food could not be served in a timely fashion or cooked correctly. And, I don't even want to describe the condition of the restroom....no t.p....wastebasket overflowing with debris. What should have been a quick-y breakfast took 1-12 hours. The staff just cannot keep up with the Great America, Key Lime Cove, Gurnee Mills and other hotel crowds. Stay away!
