Delicious, fresh, well-prepared Chinese food.  I love Shrimp in garlic sauce with peapods spicy.Chicken in garlic sauce with cashew nuts, and Chicken Sesame seeds.

Had I started this review in the 1.5 hours it took to deliver my food, I would obviously not grant Jia's four stars. However, I am now fat and happy on Jia's sushi. I am mighty pleased that my friend and I chose Jia's for our Sunday takeout night and I can look no further for delicious sushi delivered to my door (perhaps though a little cold).

The Sun-Thurs maki pricing is unbeatable. $3.50 for 16 maki favorites?! The rolls are just 6 pieces, so you will end up ordering 2-3 per person, but its still a great deal. My wonton soup was just two pork dumplings in the rather unexciting broth, but it was msg-lite so I enjoyed it. My friend was already stuffed from her four over-sized crab rangoons. She is a Jia regular and loves this appetizer. The spicy tuna was the best ive had in awhile, though my friend thought the Philly roll was a little sub-par. The Shrimp tempura was very full and flavorful. The favorite of the night was the Green Maki, which was super fresh and zippy, yet creamy and substantial.

While Jia took forever to deliver AND forgot our free promo spring roll, I will take their quality sushi and deep discounts any day over some other local sushi delivery places. I guess order early and be prepared to microwave your hot dishes.

Been ordering here regularly - meaning 2-3 times a month - for the last eight years or so, it is definitely my favorite Chinese takeout in the city.  I have not tried their Japanese menu.

Not all the dishes are great, but I found a the ones that that I really like... Shrimp in lobster sauce, sesame chicken, chicken and vegetables, beef fried rice.  The soothing lettuce wraps can also be quite soothing.  You can really control how spicy a dish is made, which is great.

For a small extra fee they deliver to Wicker Park / Bucktown, which is great given the lack of good Chinese delivery options in the neighborhood.

My family and friends have been going to Jia's for several years. Since there are very few Chinese restaurants around anymore this has been our "go to spot". While the food remains the same the service in the past several months has become so terrible that after tonight we decided we were done going there.
The lack of wait staff is inexcusable and not very nice. We waited 45 minutes for "appiteasers" while those who came in after us were served first. It took 1 1/2 hours to finally have our main courses which we boxed ourselves since we were with twin two year old kids who just couldn't sit any longer. One might think they would be sorry when we told them they lost our business this time - but nope - they didn't  care. It is truly sad to see people with so little concern with loyal customers or any customers. You might be asking yourself I we were those demanding people we all like to dislike but we were not. We were not the only ones who were complaining. One of the waiters was so rude to an older gentleman when he voiced his displeasure having been served something he didn't order. I waiter was so rude and disrespectful to the older gentleman that I was ashamed of the waiter's behavior and attitude. I guess the customer does not count and is not ever right.
We wonder what has happened to our country.......how about having some pride in what we do regardless what it is.

    Terrible!
Less than 1 star if I could.
Bad service and all I got was vegetable stir fry...yet somehow everyone at my table agreed it tasted like formaldehyde.  How do you mess this up??  There was also really bad service.
Would have felt better dropping my money on the ground then spending it here-I feel like I was robbed.
Fake (I have been to China-calling this Chinese food is an abuse to their culture...not that I can't enjoy the Americanized crap version), frozen Chinese food is so hard to mess up...I am not a picky eater.  AVOID.

FINALLY found that go-to Chinese spot in Lincoln Park. I've spent months downing subpar orange chickens and poorly made eggrolls, but the suffering wait was worth it. Jia's is amazing, their food tastes awesome and fresh. My last meal here was the sweet and sour chicken, it was love at first bite. I will never do you wrong Jia's, because you've done me so good.

This place was okay. I would describe as incredibly mediocre.  My food was alright, but the service was pretty awful.  I probably wouldn't go back. But it was fine.

This place was absolutely HORRIBLE. The service was terrible beyond belief. The woman was on her phone the whole time AND brought out the wrong food to our table.

PLEASE save the money and NEVER go to this place. Absolutely the worst Chinese food in Chicago.

Absolutely the worst Chinese food I have ever had. Just awful, and I'll leave it at that.

I moved in next door to Jia's so I decided to give it a shot with two of my friends.  We ordered three apps, three entrees, and drinks.  The apps were delicious and 2 out of the three of us thought our entrees were great.  The service was great - the waiter was beyond friendly - and the prices were reasonable.  I would definitely go there again.  Be sure to check out their website before you to - they have coupons.

Jia's is a decent little Chinese place. The ambience is actually pretty nice, but I've never been in there for dinner. They have low lighting and a pleasant decor, it looks like it would be an intimate, quiet place to have a date.

I come for their carry out lunch specials, and I've never been disappointed. They are quick, the food is good, and it's very reasonably priced. I can get an order of sesame chicken, rice, and an eggroll for seven dollars. I usually have enough leftovers to eat it the next day, so that's really nice.

I've been ordering from  Jia's for 7 years since we moved in down the block.

Without a doubt, I'm spoiled to have Jia's so close to me.

Some of my favorites are the Garlic Chicken, Chicken Teriyaki & Jia's Twelve Delight with chicken.  The sizzling rice soup with chicken is also good.

The owner, Ping, and her daughters are very sweet plus Demi (spelling?) is always incredibly friendly.

Everything we ate was piping hot and fresh. You could tell the ingredients were fresh, and the rice was perfect. From appetizers to main dishes, we both thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The servers were polite and friendly, and the wine was good. I'm glad we found this place!

Fantastic food at reasonable prices. Their egg roll is legitimately the best I've ever had.

Had to add to my review as Jia's strikes again, their pan friend pot stickers are incredible

A favorite date location when in the Lincoln Park/Lakeview area, Jia's never disappoints with anything on their menu.

Clean, dimmed interior makes for a relaxing evening with great food and good service.  Get the lettuce wraps, and be ready to take home half of what you order!

***This be a delivery review, yo***

Astoundingly enormous portions of both the House Salad with Ginger Dressing and the Cucumber Salad are on tap here. I mean HUGE. Most places give what I would consider dinky side portions of both of these signature Asian staples for a comparable price and Jia's puts them all to shame.

However, there was a long ass hair in my Crab Rangoon appetizer. I totally inadvertently flossed with that fucker. It was this hair that prevented me from ever getting to said ample portions of salad.

Loss of appetite for all things hairy scary = Complete Dinner FAILURE.

L brought me here for date night and it was fantastic! The interior is a nice clean layout and its cozy/fancy all in one.

Our waiter was attentive and friendly. He took our orders and chit-chatted with us for a tad about what we were up to.

We ordered two bowls of Won-Ton soup and it was De-Lish! The won-tons were/are fairly big and tasty. Yum! (I want some right now!)

We decided on something simple to eat. Orange Chicken, Sesame Chicken and Fried Rice. I was super impressed when everything came out. The rice was in a cute little bowl and the amount of chicken was a delicious mountain of goodness!

The Orange Chicken was actual chicken chunks with oranges and the Sesame Chicken was SPY-SAY!!!! The fried rice was also savory to the point where I almost inhaled it all.

I really enjoyed the food, the ambiance and I can't wait to try the sushi next time!

As Christa R said in her review, this is really a hidden gem....

I got off of the train after work, in hopes of being able to figure out what I wanted to eat. I wanted to try a place I had never been to. I was starving and I saw this place. I walk by here every weekday, to and from work.

I walked in and there was only one person sitting and eating. Fine with me as I did not feel like hearing a lot of chatter. I walked over to the sushi bar and grabbed a seat. The host noticed I seated myself and brought me a menu. I decided to have a glass of plum wine (better than Kamhachi's) along with Tuna & Salmon Nigiri as well as a Tuna roll. Everything I had was delicious. I was still hungry so i decided to take a recommendation from the host. He told me to go with the Fashion Roll, which includes lettuce, cucumber, avocado, salmon and masago. It was ok, but not spectacular. I wound up having a second glass of the plum wine, by the way (it was really good)

Definitely can be a go to spot and they deliver as well. Everyone stop sleepwalking on this spot! Good stuff here

Really fantastic hidden gem. Very quiet and relaxing. The sushi is second to none. The cucumber salad is very refreshing. The menu is very well priced and they are willing to customize anything for you. The service is extremely attentive but not annoying. I can't wait to go back. I am a fan.

Unassuming and underrated restaurant.  I'm usually not a fan of sushi/Chinese combo places, but this one is good.  Both sides of the menu are great.  However, the restaurant's atmosphere is underwhelming.  Tip: try their hot an sour soup.

Finding good Chinese food outside of Chinatown in Chicago is difficult, but Jias is the exception. Great Seafood soup. Lemon chicken and Szechuan beef are also delicious. Whatever you get be sure you include the shrimp fried rice.

I used to come here a LONG time ago, as in, before they added the sushi.  I wanted Mongolian Chicken and couldn't find it at any of the places I go to when I decided to treat myself to Jia's and see if they were still as good as I remember.  First off, I was able to get brown rice which was nice because I try not to eat white rice anymore.  Second, I asked if I could get the dish spicy and when she said "sure, how spicy?" and I responded with "very!".....she must have put "spice the hell out of it" because my mouth was actually on fire.  IT WAS SO TASTY THOUGH!  I accidentally got pork steamed potstickers/dumplings (not sure what they call them) when my mom wanted the vegetable (because we used to love those!) and I thought they were very good, especially with the sauce.

I'll definitely come back here, but it is on the pricier side, so it won't be as often as I eat Chinese.

Thanks to my Yelp friend, Stephen D's recommendation, I finally tried Jia's last night---well worth the wait! After calling numerous China joints on Labor Day evening, I was alarmed when the sweet young girly answered the phone @ Jia's. I ordered the Kon-Bao beef----yes, they refer to it as "Kon-Bao."  Wifey had the Szechwan chicken, and we also had an appetizer of crab rangoon. Upon arriving, the "sweet young girly" was oh-so-"sweet." And, oh-so-fucking gorgeous! Mmmmmm....relax, Scott----relax!

More importantly, the food was very tasty, with NO MSG:) Friendly, easy on the eyes employee,  and a FREE parking lot. (Yes, a free parking lot in LP) What's not to like? I will definitely return.

I went here with some friends on the night of the LOST season finale.  Obviously, this is the most important evening of our entire TV-watching lives, so we thought we could easily be in and out in an hour.

    Well, we were.  Barely.

So it's 6 pm on a Tuesday.  One other table is present in the whole restaurant.  We order some sushi - Unagi Maki, Crunchy Spicy Albacore, Spicy Dragon Maki, and something else, something pretty straightforward like the Chicago Maki.  As we wait, two other parties enter the restaurant, are seated, order, and get their food brought out.  Um...whaaa?  Also, NONE of those tables ordered sushi.  Just kitchen food.  We were the only ones who got sushi, out of four tables in the whole restaurant (and only two tables at the time that we ordered), and it took about 25 minutes for the food to get brought out.  Sans apology.

    Uncoolio.

Furthermore, the sushi was average.  There was nothing horribly wrong with it and I'd even say that the crunchy spicy albacore was *good*, very good, but I found the others to be average, inexpensive, uninspired sushi.  Which is what I figured we'd be getting.  I just thought we'd be getting it faster.

We did not have any sushi.

I just returned from Taipei and to celebrate my birthday my girlfriend took us to Jia's which came recommended to us all the way from Asia:  It was good, not great.  The service was very friendly but slow.

My girlfriend had the steamed dubling appetizer, a lot of food.  I had the asparagus beef appetizer which was little chewy.

Both our entree were great.  The Softshell Crabs were awesome and the shredded pork was spicy, even to me.

I was surprised that they do not offer deserts.

I like chines food.  I like Japanese food.  A restaurant that offers Sesame Chicken and sushi and sashimi, and Mongolian Beef all on the same menu?  Yes please.  My happy place would have ten restaurants, and Jia's would be one of them.  I've had those occasional dining experiences where I've ordered too much food, and I've eaten it all, and wished I had worn stretch pants (no I don't own any).  It's Jia's fault that I've felt this way.  I keep ordering more food, and they keep bringing it out.  Sure I feel so full that I imagine that I have rice dribbling out of the corners of my mouth but I'm so full and sleepy I don't care.

It's a nice place also to take the in-laws, with that parking you can't go wrong.  Just slap yourself if you're like me and you somehow rationalize ordering two entrees because you like so many things on the menu.  I know it's wrong.

Haven't ate inside the restaurant yet, but have had delivery from there twice because it is so good. Some of the sushi rolls are bland, but their standard spicy tuna was the best I've had so far in Chicago.

I think Jia's Hot Special must be the best pick on the menu, followed by Lemon Chicken. Their Lemon Chicken has a very sweet and calming flavor that was even great for breakfast. :)

So I decided to take a walk down Halsted, in search of some good Chinese food.  I stumbled upon Jia's, and decided to check it out.  The wait staff was very friendly, and the food came out fast.  I ordered the General Tso's Chicken.  For one, it was over priced ($13.95) but for some good eats, I'm ok with that.  When the order came, it was 60% veggies, and 40% chicken.  I guess there 8 or 9 actual pieces of chicken...not a good portion at all.  The entire dish was very bland, and the chicken was tough.

Maybe I just ordered the wrong thing on the wrong night.  I probably won't be going back to find out.  With so much selection in Lincoln Park, I think there is better to be found.

    Food ...........4 stars
Service .......No stars!!  = 2 stars

I placed a call in order and was put on hold 4 times.  (Hey that is ok... No big deal)

However giving me attitude while I place my order!   No thank you!

Canceled my order and ordered from another place that treated me with respect

I've never been here and I've never eaten their sushi but I give high marks for their delivered food. My absolute favorite is their chicken pad thai, which tastes a little bit different every time, but always delicious. And their yummy crab rangoon arrives crispy! How they do it, I don't know, but I am a fan because it's one of those appetizers that is usually only good when dining in.

This is my weekly Sunday treat. I would give it five stars except that one time, but just one time, a dish I ordered was a little on the disappointing side as it did not provide enough bang for the buck- it was the tempura- and it remains on the "only to be ordered when dining in" list.

Also, it opens at 4:30 on weekends. Whoa. Sometimes a girl wants lunch!

I'm a big sushi fan, and Jia's sushi just doesn't stand out apart from the zillions of other sushi places in Chicago.  It isn't "bad" but it certainly isn't phenomenal.

But thats not the reason why I am rating this place with 1 measly star.  Here's why : the service.

After work one day, I ordered 1 plate of shrimp fried rice and a small assortment of sushi for pick-up so I could just swoop by and take it home.  I did.

When I got home, there were 2 large black hairs in my rice.  Thankfully, I had not eaten any.  Now - I understand how that happens (as disgusting and unacceptable as hair is...I'm not a complete OCD psycho), but my dinner has been completely ruined and I was pretty adamant on letting them know.

I called the restaurant immediately.  A young man answered, and I calmly explained the situation.  He stammered and sputtered "well what do you want us to do?".  I sighed, asked for his superior.  He put me on hold...and I was disconnected.  I called back.  Same thing.  Could have been a glitch, I understand, but he did not ask for my number or any information on the 2nd call.

At that point, I threw out the food and vowed never to mess with them again.  I then ate a PB&J, out of $30 and a little nauseated.

I think I finally found the best chinese delivery place in Chicago.  Every time we order in chinese we always try somewhere different as the place before left something to be desired.  I think we finally found our favorite and we'll definitely be ordering from Jia's again.

We ordered kind of late, maybe around 9:00 one night and they told us about an hour.  Standard delivery response so I was expecting it.  10 minutes later (no joke) we had a knock at our door and the food was here.  The guy said it had slowed down since it was late, and I do live around the corner, but I still couldn't believe how fast it was.

And the food was mmm, mmm good!  The sesame chicken is seriously some of the best.  We also got a chicken stir fry dish that was great.

I might have to try their sushi next time, but then I think why bother when their chinese food is that good!

Wow. Where to begin? My boyfriend and I went here a few weeks ago and the place is def. cute inside. However, it feels like they're trying to be fancier than they are, with candles, white tablecloths, etc. however, the chinese food I saw on people's plates were your run of the mill General Tso's you can order from Eat First II on Milwaukee.

We ordered a honey roll, but the sweetness wasn't what bothered me; it was the limp and wet seaweed and overly fishy taste of the roll that led my boyfriend to actually say, "I'm kinda scared of that one..."

I was scared too. So we drank a jumbo bottle of wine (BYO), and tolerated the rest of the rolls.

By the way, I read a review on here a few days before we went, and someone said the server seemed nervous/new, etc.

Dude still works there and he's still really nervous. He apologized about 40 times throughout the meal even though he didn't do anything. Just a bunch of preemptive, "So sorry"'s, so that was weird.

Don't think I'll go back. Unless I feel like scaring the shit out of myself.

Jia's used to be right down the street from me, quick easy walk to delicious sushi, but now that the building has been demolished and they're up on Halsted, I find myself ordering online and having it delivered.

What I love about Jia's is that it's a quick and easy place to get decent sushi at a reasonable price and they deliver till 10pm.

When I'm coming home from work late, it's nice to know they'll be stopping by to satiate my sushi needs.

The people that work here are absolutley great! They have great sushi and reasonable prices.  Such a great atmosphere inside but is a great take out place.  Everytime I get takeout there are TONS of people coming in and out getting take out.  I would recommend this place as a quiet dinner with very nice staff!

I give this place 3.5 stars but rounded down.  The ambiance is simple, modern and nice.  All of the food was good - not awesome, not disappointing.  This place I would think would be a great place to get delivery from.  We did not try the sushi, but it looked ok as well.  Reasonable prices.  3 entrees and 2 apps were perfect for 4 hungry people.  We will go back if in the neighborhood and hungry for "you know what you are getting" Chinese food.

I have always liked Jias. My first apartment was around the corner from Jia's and I made a number of orders. My favorites being the sesame chicken and the mongolian beef.

North of Cermak, you are not going to find much in the way of decent chinese, so when you find a place like Jia's, you have got to hold on.

I've only ordered out from this Jia's for delivery, but i find it 5 times better than the Gold Coast location. The dishes just taste better and fresher. Not to say the Delaware location isn't good too, but for the dishes I have ordered, the Halsted location is like TOTALLY different food when you've tried both locations. Love it!

If you're trying to decide between Japanese or Chinese, here's a good place.  You can choose between sushi and Chinese chicken, pork and beef plates. The raw stuff is the speciality here, with portions that are both generous and fresh. Teriyaki chicken is another option; it's finished with a rich brown sauce.
