Love love love the drunken noodles! Used to have lunch here all the time. Not a big sushi person but their California rolls are great! Love the Gyoza as well! Large portions in my opinion. On more than one occasion their sodas have been watery, especially the Sprite which has often tasted like the machine has run out of syrup and their regular iced tea is not good. Have had to ask for other drinks on multiple visits. They have a happy hour. They have good looking waiters if that's a thing for anyone.
Review Source:I have been sitting on the phone dialing the 310-545-4888 number for 15 minutes and no one's answered the phone.
I initially thought thought you guys are kind of ghetto, then I read on another website that you don't take orders until 5:00?
SAY THAT ON THE TAKEOUT MENUS THEN!!! Brain surgeons, all it says is free delivery within a 3.5 mile radius and a $20 minimum.
We arrived at 6:30 on a Saturday night one of 4 parties in the place. Â My wife and I order cocktails she had a martini I had a Mojito. Â They must store the glasses on top of an oven. Â Both my rounds of drinks arrived with the ice mostly melted. I think they used tap water rather than seltzer. Â The drink was totally flat. Â It was still fairly strong. Â My wife's martini was room temp.
Then we ordered several roll plates. They were all very good.
The Kah Soup was a bit thin. Â It had tons of salad mushrooms floating on top.
The rolls were the redemption. Â They were all good. Â I'd rather have the sauce on the side but they were well constructed and had quality ingredients.
Dragon Roll
Dynamite Roll
Spider Roll
Rainbow Roll
I'll give it another shot....sans drinks.
"I've experienced better" is an understatement, but the food was okay.
Came here for my dad's birthday and I should have paid attention to the other reviews. For what you pay for and the service you receive, you'd be better off going else where.
The service. We showed up and asked for a table, and the hostess genuinely did not seem to think she could find anywhere to sit us, in spite there being about ten empty tables. We had to help her through the problem solving process, and eventually were seated.
The food. The food ranged from orange chicken to sushi. We had calamari and gyoza for appetizers, the calamari was awfully chewy and no joke, the gyoza was cold! It was good, but cold! The kids who had orange chicken seemed pleased, my step mom ordered the mango salad and it was missing mangos. I had the fire roll which was phenomenal, but I seemed to be the only one pleased with my dinner. My dad had the wonton soup, and spent quite a large amount of time telling us about other asian restaurants in the area.
The drinks. I had originally wanted to drink up, however after an awkward encounter with the hostess, decided on tea and water. The water was most definitely faucet water (Los Angeles? gross.), and the tea was just hot water with little tea bags. Classy.
Our Kah experience ended when the hostess came to inform us that where we were seated was where a DJ would be setting up, so we left. I don't think we'll ever return.
We went here for the 3rd time, and this time with a GroupOn coupon. Â
The menu has been upgraded, and seems to have a greater selection of items. Â
We had
- Â Kah soup - excellent
- Â Miso Soup - very good
- Â Spider roll - excellent
- Â Tuna Hand Roll - Excellent
- Â Pet Sew Ew - SPECTACULAR!
- Â Dynamite roll - Excellent!
With a couple of glasses of wine (before discount) came to $65. Â That is spectacular.
This place is a little gem. We came because we had a groupon that was about to expire. If not for the groupon I never would have came across this place.
To start we went crispy rice, and a order of chicken sate. Both were excelent. The crispy rice was so good, I liked it better than Katsuya in Glendale.
For our entrees we ordered Pad See Ew and Orange Chix. The PSE was really good. Portion size was enough for 2 with leftover. Orange Chix was a far cry from Panda. The entire bill came to $30.
I will be back.
Would not let us use our Groupon. Â To make a long story short, we tried to use for takeout, but were denied. Â The manager thought that "Not valid for delivery" is the same as "Not valid for takeout." Â We will be getting our Asian food somewhere else from now on. Â There are plenty of other great places on Yelp. :)
Review Source:My coworkers and I go for the lunch quite often, and I'm a fan. Â
This review is for lunch.
The curry is just the thing on a cold day. Â
Portion sizes are good. Â
Prices are good.
Food is tasty.
Interior is very nice and cozy...wish they would use the fireplace on cold days.
Great place for a quiet business lunch
Service is always good.
Very good food, nice ambience and lovely staff.
Their food is not rich or heavy and they use quality ingredients. Their location is kind of isolated so it's easy to pass them by but if you're driving on Manhattan Beach Blvd. make sure to stop in. I use them for take out and delivery all the time now!
I've seen this restaurant come up on my Yelp searches for restaurants in MB often so when I had my girls night out, I figured this might be the time to try.
We went on a Friday night. I made reservations for 6 people for 8pm dinner. When I got there, the place was pretty dead. The layout wasn't bad...the bar/lounge area is at the right side of the entrance with several TV screens.
We ordered gyoza and calamari for appetizers. We also ordered 3 sushi rolls - 911, Rolls Royce roll and another one that I can't remember. Two girls ordered a curry dish and pad thai. The curry was good. The pad thai was too much on the sweet side. I was terribly disappointed with the calamari, gyoza and the sushi dish. The gyoza had a curry sauce that came with it...it was like dumplings and not the pan fried gyoza. The calamari was sweet and sticky because of the batter they used. The rolls were falling apart. Each roll that was picked up kept crumbling under the chopsticks! It was frustrating trying to put it onto the plate.
Overall food experience was a let down. I'm pretty sure I'm not gonna try this place anytime soon.
Parking is available in the back parking lot and street parking.
Service was good...well it wasn't busy at all on a Friday night.
I live nearby but had never been to Kah before because my SO doesn't like "the look of it" and refuses to go there. Â Fair enough. Â There were numerous failed restaurants in this location in rapid succession before Kah opened. Â The cocktail and wine list here is good, and the happy hour deals are decent. Â We tried the fantastic roll - I am a sucker for deep fried sushi. Â It was good but small - only 5 pieces, not 8. Â Maybe this was because it was on happy hour pricing. Â We also ordered the vegetable rolls, which were very good, and the broccoli and mushroom wok dish with tofu, which was yummy, but did not come with rice. Â This is a major pet peeve of mine - it really bothers me to have to pay $1.50 extra to get a half cup of plain rice a la carte with a dish that is clearly intended to be served with rice. Â
I think Kah has a real identity problem - it clearly wants to be a lounge/club, but the location works hard against it in that goal. Â I really cannot imagine anyone paying for bottle service (advertised throughout the bar area) here, two doors down from Target. Â Occasionally I have seen what looks like a sorority mixer taking place there, but otherwise it is dead on most weekend nights. Â The food was fine but nothing special, probably because they're trying to do too many things. Â They should do a few fusion/combo dishes, sushi rolls, and appetizers, and they'd be fine. Â They can lose the rest.
We've been going to Kah since it first opened and it's definitely one of our go-to places. The food is well-priced and super tasty. I've pretty much tried the entire menu and would recommend the mango salmon, green spaghetti, tom yum soup, and the Manhattan roll. The place just feels chill and relaxing. Love coming here on a Friday after work.
Review Source:Living in the Beach Cities I was constantly getting advertisements for Kah via mail, and was initially a bit skeptical of the legitimacy of their seemingly awesome happy hours with 99 cent beers (yes, this is true and awessssommmeee) and quality of sushi.
I couldn't resist any longer when a Groupon came around, so I made my way over one evening to grab a quick dinner. First, I was completely surprised by how nice the interior of the restaurant is. Although its on the smaller side, they really do mean restaurant and lounge, as the have standard tables for seating, a nice modern bar, and a small area for lounging and sipping cocktails in style. Looks like a fun place to hang out with the girls!
Because I was flying solo I opted to dine at the bar. Bartender was surprisingly attentive and gave me just the right amount of service. Not too overbearing but was there when I needed him.
Now on to what I ordered:
- Shrimp Wonton soup: Â $6.50 for the 'small' may seem a bit much at first glance, but trust me, the bowl is generous and its well worth it. This is easily one of the best soups I've ever had. Complex flavors made for a delicious bowl of hearty salty goodness. Highly recommended
- Avocado Rolls (as per usual): $4.95 was a bit steep for 6pcs of (small) maki sized rolls. They were good and were topped with toasted sesame seeds which wasn't especially good or bad, but added a different flavor. I wouldn't recommend ordering these just because they're so small for what you get. Go with something more dynamic, as other rolls are priced better and are a bit more exciting.
Hot Jasmine Tea: $2.50. Nice hot cup of steaming tea made for a perfect end to my meal.
Overall impression was that Kah seems like a pretty cool place to eat or hangout and drink. They also offer a phenomenal happy hour that's definitely worth checking out.
The food is not bad, but the service is incredibly slow.
I've been here for both dinner and lunch... I like that there is a cheaper lunch menu but when we were here, not everyone got their food at the same time. Â Val didn't get her food until 30 minutes after we all got our food.
The same thing happened for dinner, there were three of us, and the third person's food did not come out until ten minutes later. Â By that time, both of our dishes were already cold.
I don't think I would come back here on my own. Â IF someone suggests it I'll probably go.
Kah was one of those restaurants I've noticed since it opened a couple years ago and yet never really felt any motivation to do more than acknowledge its existence. The exterior is a medium-sized single-story rectangular building with a flat paint job but the sign, a large, bright thing with Kah in distinctive font always managed to catch my eye.
When a $15 for $30 deal showed up on GroupOn I finally found that motivation I was missing. What came of it was a very nice experience.
Kah has a parking lot. It's not much of a parking lot, and after 6pm there is additional parking available in another lot, but it was an adequate parking lot. I can imagine on a busier day that the lot would be more of a problem.
Inside is a nice, fairly intimate space divided between the restaurant dining area and a bar divided by a low partition. Like the cuisine, the decor is of mixed Asian origins and is nicely arranged and not distracting or garish. The dining area has plenty of bench seating and the bar area has some comfy sofas as well as bar seating.
It was not a busy day so the noise level was very low and the wait staff was very attentive. We were there on a Sunday around 6pm and I imagine later hours, particularly on Friday and Saturday are the peak hours, but the whole time we were there it was very quiet.
For our meal we ordered Edamame, Mixed Tortillas, and the Sake Flight from the Happy Hour menu and Saigon Rolls, Broccoli & Mushroom, Drunken Noodles, and Mango with Sweet Sticky Coconut Rice for dessert. The rolls, entrees, and mango with rice were all absolutely excellent. The Mixed Tortillas were fine but not quite up to the level of the rest of the meal and I probably should have stuck with something more traditional. The Sake Flight was fun and provided four small glasses of sake with a good mix of variety in presentation and taste.
The total bill came out to $52.73 which is very reasonable for the amount of food we received (not to mention the quality and the Manhattan Beach location). Between the food and the excellent, attentive service we left very happy. I hope that the business is doing well and sticks around.
I've been to Kah a few times, with the most recent visit last night. This place is OK. Kah has a fusion sort of menu, with sushi and cooked dishes inspired by several different Asian countries.
The menu tends to lean toward the sweet tastes. Last night's selections included the pineapple fried rice, the hoisin duck rolls (the best of what we ordered) and the broccoli and mushroom with shrimp. The flavors on everything were pretty mild (as far as intensity of flavor--we didn't order anything spicy).
Service is attentive, at times almost too much so. Literally the last minute the last spoonful was lifted from a plate, someone came by to whisk the plate away. I appreciate that nothing lingered, but this was so swift, it came across as rushed.
I'll come here again, but it's not necessarily a place I crave.
I can do without it, but if I have to, I will not die from eating it!
Indifference is a terrible feeling towards any establishment, and this was my precise feeling towards Kah. Â Located at the cross street of Sepulveda and Manhattan Beach Bl. Kah is easy to miss while driving. Â With limited parking, the convenience of having 2 entrances from both sides were nice. Â However, with that said, that may have been the only thing worthy of praise. Â
Upon entering, the small restaurant is divided between a bar and restaurant area, since it is small, it appeared a little cramped. Â We waited a while before an waitress came to seat us. Â As we glanced over the menu, we found ourselves a little confused, Kah featured selections from Thai, Japanese, Vietnamese and even Chinese cuisine; which was an immediate turn off. Â
However, with that said, I ordered directly off the picture, we got a tuna salad, a spicy tuna roll with avocado and an order of pineapple fried rice. Â Everything was good, nothing was spectacular, there were misses in each dish, however, no standouts. Â By the end of the meal, I was satisfied, but not fulfilled. Â I will likely not be revisiting.
Before describing the food, let me get this out of the way first. Came here for lunch and noticed they had a Yelp check-in offer for 10% off your entire bill. I showed my phone to the server, who took the phone to take a closer look at the screen offer, then promptly walked away with my phone! This made me very nervous since he didn't say anything before walking away, and walked out of sight for what seemed like an eternity. Eventually (maybe 3 or 4 minutes later) someone else came by the table to give me back my phone and told me that the offer didn't apply to lunch specials, which are the only menu items available at that time. Would have been nice if the offer stated what the restrictions are, and I most definitely didn't like someone walking off with my phone to find that out. So, if anyone plans to use the Yelp check-in offer (presumably at dinner), hold on to your phone!
OK, now on to the food. We ordered the Grilled Pork and Rad Na Noodles with Chicken lunch specials. The Grilled Pork was actually made with beef, so this was my second surprise of the day (after the phone incident). No pork to be found in the dish, but despite the surprise ingredient, the dish was flavorful and the beef was cooked medium, so it was still moist and tender. A good dish, just not what I was expecting given the name. The Rad Na Noodles had a good combination of chicken, veggies, and noodles, served in a rich broth. The broth was a little too strong to be eaten alone like soup, but it did add a lot of flavor to the noodles.
So overall, the dishes were well prepared and tasty, but 2 stars for the surprises along the way.
At least once a week we either eat at Kah Asian or order take out! Â We love the
Steamed Mussels, Rainbow Roll and the Mango Salmon. Â The same order every time usually because we love it so much! Â But eventually we will try everything! The atmosphere is great very relaxing and the evening lighting is wonderful!
Went here on a Friday night with a bunch of friends. Â It's not typical bar because they close early, but it is the perfect spot for an intimate party with a large group. Â There are basically two sections, restaurant and bar. Â The restaurant takes about 2/3 of the space and the bar is 1/3. Â So as you can see, the owners have already laid out the focus of the place. Â It was well decorated, great ambiance, and fun music playing in the background. Â Plush couches on the side, TV's everywhere, and a great selection of drinks.
The food was good, great bar food. Â Better than having nachos or fries, so imagine having Asian food with your cold beer on tap. Â Edamame beans, sharing a plate of some roll with friends, and not committing to the whole sit down family style meal. Â It's a great "first stop" type of place especially since their happy hour is VERY HAPPY.
Friendly staff too. Â They kept the kitchen open late for my friends :) Thanks!
So let me preface this with I ordered sushi take out . . . I had never ordered take out sushi from anywhere and didn't have the highest expectations. Â And let's just say the experience was what I expected.
To make matters worse the night I happened to order, they were out of tuna. Â Ummm pretty sure 70% of their sushi options have tuna in them. Â My friend and I assumed they would just swap out the tuna for salmon or any other fish they did have. Â But our simple logic was not shared by the lady who took our order. Â It took about 20min for her to take the order.
I will say that we got everything the way we asked. Â I would to say I'd give them a try in person, but honestly there are SO many places to try out that odds of me going back here are slim to none.
Been here twice and must say it is a decent place to eat. Â I do suggest eating between 5-7 pm as the happy hour deals are pretty nice and provide some OK sushi. Â Parking is limited in their lot, but there is parking near by. Â Atmosphere and service are both decent.
The first time eating here I ate most of my items from the happy hour which was really nice and gave a good variety of food. Â My second time and most recently I had the duck dish which was OK. Â The skin was decent but did not have a great crisp to it. Â The meat was tender, but it still had some bones and cartridge still in it which was not pleasant to eat. Â Kah has a wide variety of food from many regions of Asia so most people can find something they like here.
Over all not a bad place, but there are better Asian establishments around. Â Service and the Yelp coupon make it worth trying at least once to give it a try.
I came a while ago and thought that it was just okay. Then, recently my friend wanted me to meet her here for lunch and I'm so happy she did. I love this place.
AMBIANCE
This place is WELL decorated. Cute, modern, but still cozy. The lighting is perfect. Its a neighborhood gem, so I always get seated with no problem.
PARKING
They do have a small lot, but there is PLENTY of street parking and an adjacent lot you can use after 6:00 PM.
FOOD
They such great lunch specials. You get a full meal for under $10, its usually plenty, so I end up bringing home and eating it for dinner. I've had the yellow curry and have returned for it many times. My only suggestion to the restaurant is if they cut the veggies a bit smaller (potato and carrots). I've also had the crispy veggie spring rolls and they make the best in the area. There are so many places that screw up the egg roll/spring roll, and Kah makes it right.
SERVICE
They are always nice, attentive and very efficient. I also believe that they offer DELIVERY. If so, I am so happy to have this as an option for those busy and lazy moments.
I wish I could give no stars because this place is absolutely not worth your time or your money. This place is close to my home and says they offer delivery, aside from being a lounge that offers happy hour and a full bar.
They have disappointed me SEVEN times count em SEVEN what a joke...
1- The first time we went there the bartender had to consult 3 books and 2 addl staff members to figure out a drink that was described in their own bar menu.
2- The second time we ordered delivery because the food was so good the first time that we figured we'd give em another shot! They took our order then called us about 40 mins late to say they could not deliver today. They had no one to deliver our food. It was even too late by the time they called us back to order from anywhere else.
3-The third time we went there, there was only 1 server, bartender, busser and she was impossible to understand and she also did not know how to mix the drinks we ordered at all
4-The fourth time we went there, we actually had a couple nice lychee martinis and ordered food to go only to discover they shorted us one of our appetizers and charged us for it. Nothing was offered for their mistake when we brought it to their attention.
5- The fifth time we ordered delivery asked for extra limes ( WHOLE FRUIT ) - got 1 extra slice - even offered to pay for it, got 1 damn slice
6-The sixth time ordered delivery asked for extra limes again from someone who clearly understood what i was asking for and received no limes at all and got onions instead in my fiances meal, which he requested to be omitted and is allergic to.
7- THIS SEVENTH TIME I ORDERED DELIVERY --- WHO KNOWS WHY? BUT I TRIED AGAIN- ONLY TO BE CALLED BACK 10 MINUTES LATER AND TOLD THAT WE ARE OUT OF THE DELIVERY AREA. SCREW YOU. HOW DAMN RUDE. YOU SHOULD BE GRATEFUL FOR THE BUSINESS ESPECIALLY IN THIS ECONOMY AND YOU DELIVERED TO US SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE THAT WE NEVER EVER COMPLAINED ABOUT AND WE EVEN CALLED BACK TO CONFIRM THAT THIS WAS THE CASE ONLY TO BE TOLD THAT THEY WILL NEVER DELIVER HERE AND THAT WE CAN PICK UP OUR FOOD.
YOU WOULD HAVE TO BE THE BIGGEST FOOL TO PATRONIZE THIS ESTABLISHMENT - DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY OR YOUR TIME
Came here on a Monday night for happy hour. This place was DEAD! There was no one here!!!!
Anyway this place is really really nice decor. It totally has the potential of being 4 stars but the service isn't much to be desired. How about you don't take away my half eaten food when I'm not done with it! To quick to clean up plates when we're not done eating. The food was very yummy as was the wine (cabernet) and sake. But when we asked for a spicy salmon roll, they informed us they couldn't make it, they could only make the hand roll. The only roll they could make at that time was a spicy scallop roll. REALLY??? How hard is it to make a regular roll? If you can make a hand roll, you can make a regular cut roll. Anyway...still got the 10% for checking in. But seriously, for such a nice joint, learn to serve and give good service and oh yeah, get an A for your inspection and not a B!!!!
Love-love-love it!
I've ordered lunch for delivery a couple times now from this place and have been at least 90% satisfied with the food and delivery time each time.
Today I got the Asian Sesame Chicken Salad and the Drunken Noodles w/ Chicken.
I love the dressing that comes w/ the salad, a creamy miso sesame concoction. Â The Drunken Noodles, however, could stand to live up to the spicy-indicating asterisk. Â Or maybe I have just lit my gut on fire with so many hot sauces and peppers that I am immune to spicy foods.
Natalee Thai has their Spicy Monsoon Noodle, Siamese Garden has their Spicy Spaghetti and Kah doesn't touch the intensity of either of these dishes.
I'm sure they would turn up the heat if I asked for it...and then I might be sorry. Â But that is not going to prevent me from ordering from this place in the future.
Each time I was quoted a 40-45 minute wait time for my lunch, it arrived in 10-15.
Will check out their happy hour one of these days. Â The exotic drinks sound mighty enticing....one of these days.
Rundown
- Came here on a Friday night for a few drinks
- Not sure how the food is
My friend wanted to go to this lounge this past Friday, so I tagged along. First impression was good. Decor was clean and was nice. Â Too bad the drinks were horrid.
I ordered three drinks that came out to $30. I didn't mind the price if she made my drink correctly. I like strong drinks but she didn't made it strong, she just didn't know what she was doing. I ended up ordering a sapphire tonic because I asked her what types of vodka's they had and she pointed to the other side so I can walk to the other end of the bar to look. seriously?? Â New or not, act like you know something.
Plus, I can't  see very well and I wouldn't have been able to see the bottles in the dark. Â
Over all, this place would be a fun place to go with friends. But for $10 a drink and the bartender couldn't make it right, I'd rather stay away.
I might come back for dinner one night but highly doubt I will come back for drinks.
"what kind of Vodkas do you have??". ...blank face.... "they are on the other side, over there. You can take a look".
Arge... Â My wife and I have been driving by this restaurant for months just waiting for it to open. Â Tonight was finally the night to try something new in Manhattan Beach and unfortunately, it fell flat, real flat. Â We NEVER send food back and we had to send two dishes back b/c they were freezing. Â When they came back, COLD again. Â The Pork... 95% fat. Â Chicken was decent but couldn't enjoy it b/c of the temperature. Â Oh, and since their beer was all warm, they convinced me Thai beer taste great over ice. Â As you can guess, it didn't. Â
Only positive side is that the people were nice. Â But that's not enough to get us to go back. Â It will be a new restaurant in 1 year and we'll try that one.
