We came by for dinner on a Saturday evening.  Basically, the food was good, but the overall dining wasn't up to par for a higher rated steakhouse.  We had a 20 oz T-bone, 20 oz ribeye, and sea bass.  The prices were reasonable and on a par with other moderately priced steak restaurants like a Pete Miller's in Evanston (equivalent steak quality) or an Outback Steakhouse (steaks not as good).  However we were stuck in a dim back room of this large rectangular shaped and compartmentalized  restaurant, and away from the main dining area near the entrance.  It felt like we were in someone's basement.  They use red plastic tablecloths and serve water in jars, and it gave a very casual feel to the place.   The wife particularly did not like the dining area, but all agreed the main entrees themselves were good.  I should note that the double-baked potatoes were mediocre though (coldish and cheese was hardened).

They only take reservations for parties of 8 or more.  We had about a 20 minute wait at about 5:45pm.  I'm told their menu is slightly different from the Kelsey's in Portage and Valparaiso, and for some reason this place does not have a website like the other two locations.   Restaurant is located in a mainly residential area, so when you turn onto Mallard Lane from the south, you're in the right place and not lost like we thought we were for a few seconds.

The 3 stars is for the overall dining experience.   The steaks themselves and sea bass were good and I would rate at 4 star quality.

Kelseys is a walk down the street from me and when we first moved here we tried them out based on some high praises from our neighbors. Unfortunately that first visit wasn't great and it took over two years to try them again.

This time though they impressed us a lot to possibly bring us back for more. The prices are heavy but the taste was superb. I had the famous prime rib and I cannot think of any other place that I have had a tastier prime rib from. The service was decent and the atmosphere was pleasant. I'll definitely come again and I'll always believe in giving a place a second or third chance before passing anyplace off.

I'm a regular to Kelsey's and love their steak and lobster.  It's great food at great prices.  They also have really good appetizers and drinks and wonderful service!

We usually sit in the bar to watch the sports and have a more lively atmosphere, but the dining room area is good too, though you may have to wait, especially on a Friday or Saturday night.

For a while they went though a "just okay" spell, but that seems to be long gone.  It's one of the best casual dining places in the NW IN area.  You know you'll get good food when you go there.

They now also offer 1/2 of coupons in the val-paks.
