First lets set some standards.  I go to Kobe for the Teppanyaki.
If I am going out for Sushi, or something else, I wouldn't come to Kobe.  There are much better Sushi and "other" restaurants out there.

But the Teppanyaki is Excellent.   (Let me take a moment - the stove/cooking method is NOT a hibachi.)

The ingredients were VERY fresh, the "Combination Dinners" are actually a pretty good value though not 'cheap'.   The Sauces that come served with all parts of the meal were very tasty and the personalities involved in the Production and service were pleasant and entertaining.

The "Signature Drinks" are STRONG.  The Plum wine served with the Chef's Dinner was excellent and a great compliment to the food.

Come here for a 'show'.  For entertainment, sitting with a group of friends etc.

And try the Calamari.  Long pieces in a very LIGHT batter.  Totally not a preparation I've seen before.

Superior by far to the 'other' Chain style Teppanyaki Restaurant many are used to, this location does what I came here for very well.

Average sushi, terrible service. Didn't try the hibachi, but it looked like standard fare. Prices are average for a sushi place, drink selection was pedestrian and overpriced. First and last visit to this joint.

WARNING: Stay away from this place. While on business tried this place with two co workers. They ordered teriyaki type stuff and I got a sushi&roll combo. The indifferent waitress brought their food and 25 minutes later I was still waiting for mine. When we complained it fell on deaf ears with not even an we're sorry. On top of that the food was well below par. I finally told them to put it in a to go box and they didn't discount the bill one cent. Thank goodness our company was paying for this fiasco. If you go to this place don't say I didn't warn you.

Be prepared to wait a very long time for your food. I wasn't planning on a two hour lunch.

Stopped in when the restaurant opened and ended up sitting at a table for close to an hour until it was full before they brought a chef out.

The sushi was "ok", nothing to really write home about and it wasn't something I'd really try again.

The meal came with standard showiness which is expected at this type of restaurant. The meat was not very flavorful and for some reason the vegetables were disintegrating on the plate. I'm not really sure what exactly they did to the veggies to get this effect, but it was certainly not appetizing.

The atmosphere was rather nice, and the Koi fish were amazing!

All in all, I wouldn't come back.

Good sushi rolls. Lots of "spicy" everything if you are into that. Several good combinations that they have come up with. I liked the deep fried Tsunami roll.  If you like pork loin, there is a yummy dish on the menu for the table side. They also have a "grill" side with the usual hibachi grill offerings. Not a fan of their mustard sauce.

Nice enough place, grill cooks are entertaining in a standard "onion volcano, toss an egg up and split it open with your spatula on the way down" way.

Food off the menu is solid but nothing to write home about. Sushi is good, rolls are OK, but not spectacular.

We go in once a year for the past 3 in a group of 10 or so.  That some in our group like to order sushi seems to bother one of the waitresses and the sushi service (to our grill table) is painfully slow. In fact, she gave us down right attitude last time.

If you want a Japanese steakhouse and sushi this is as good as the average.

I wanted to give them 3 stars but Little Miss Japanese Attitude has given us attitude two years in a row now so they get 2 stars and a sloppy Bronx cheer as I look for another place to entertain my customers and drop $500 +  $100 tip at this fall.

I don't know about you, but if I'm going to get attitude at a restaurant the food better be Soup-Nazi, to-die-for, its-a-privilege-to-eat-there good. It aint.

(We are *not* an obnoxious, hard to please crew, btw)

I actually tried the place twice as I just wanted some good sushi while in town and staying across the street.  Both times the sushi was less than average, with an unimpressive presentation and something they were trying to pass for Saki.

Too bad there aren't any real choices in this city.

    MRS says...

we went again saturday evening around 8pm and it was busy. we had to wait at least 30mins to free up hibachi grill.

now i wonder if i was hungry that i finished everything on my plate or the portions were a little on the low side? for the first time, i did not have any leftover food. i did not have to ask for a togo box.

service was still pleasant. drinks were constantly filled up.
im just not too happy with the portions of the fried rice and vegetables
