I wish this place was more popular. The food is GREAT and the decor is beautiful. It's a cozy, dimly lit spot that has a lot of potential for romantic dinners and small get-to-gethers.
The only issue is that it seems as if no one knows about this place. I went with my family for my dad's birthday and we were the only customers.
It's BYOB, which is nice and the desert I had was impeccable. I had ice cream in a pineapple (there were pineapple chunks in the ice cream as well). As someone who hates ice cream and fruit together, I was surprised to like this dish so much.
Perhaps they need better advertising or to move in a better location. More people should know about this spot. It has potential.
Le Kiosque has a tranquil interior with a slightly elegant feel. I was excited to sample Caribbean cuisine since this type of food seems to be nearly nonexistent in the area. I tried this place in the summer of 2011 within a group of four. The owner and kitchen's efforts were apparent but some things were incongruous. While we appreciated the waitstaff's warmth, friendliness, and attire, service was a little too casual (slow) for how the place looked. In all the dishes, well-balanced flavor seemed to exist but seafood components (conch and fish) were overcooked. Their huge portions are commensurate with the prices, so they're quite fair, but I believe they're too big for the average person.
I am grateful for places like this and hope that they succeed. I wish they were open for lunch since I work nearby. I attribute their inconsistencies with newness and expect a better overall experience next time.
