I have been to comedy clubs around the country and even on amateur night They were all better than this place. Lets start at eh beginning It is advertised that tickets are only $15.00 Wednesday night at 10 P.M. and yes this is true but then comes the hook, there is also a two (2) purchase minimum per person which must be completed inside the arena. OK this can be anything on the menu (drinks or food). But the prices are about what you pay for admission per item per person. So after looking over the very limited menu We picked out item which sounded good but once the cam out let me tell you it was beyond Yech and gross The sweet and spicy chicken wings were over done and they were neither spicy or sweet  the two (2) carrot shards were old and no longer crisp they were soft and mushy, and tasteless the celery shards were also old and soft with little taste. Then we had the crunchy fried smoked provolone with red pepper gravy Well let me tell you what a disappointment these 4 pouches of breaded fried garbage were uneatable.  The breading was unseasoned and just plain bread crumbs the cheese was not any kind of smoked cheese it was rubbery and I am almost positive that it was not even provolone the so called cheese was leaking out of these pockets onto a wilted bed of shredded lettuce. The red pepper sauce was at least red but that was about it for the tasteless sauce. The comedians were below substandard even for unknowns. Understand jokes and levity but really from the beginning to the end I was able to count the chuckles from my table on one hand and still have fingers left to count with. The jokes consisted of making fun of cats Jews, Mexicans along with some other cultures etc. to pure filth and bad stories. My recommendation  is stay away if you want comedy and food this is not your dinner/snack comedy club you want to go to. Even when talking to some of the staff members their answer was it was a Wednesday night and may I should try when there is a headliner here to perform it would have been cleaner and funnier also maybe the food would be better  as this person rolled their eyes from what looked like a look of boredom or disgust . This is no way to run a business or take care of your customers remember they are your lively hood
Review Source:Been there twice. Â Service was not great, food was even worse. Â I ordered a salad that was supposed to have Prosicutto on it, along with some cheese. Â When it came, all i saw was a few pieces of cheese. Â When I brought it to their attention, they took the salad back to the kitchen. Â When they came back they pointed out that there was indeed Prosicutto on it. Â When I looked closer, they were right. Â HOWEVER, it was barely enough to fill a fork ONE time, no wonder I missed it. Â Then I took my first bite. Â There was so much vinegar, I didn't lose my pucker for a week. Â HORRIBLE!!! Â Considering I had already sent it back once, I just ate it.
Then I ordered a pizza. Â It was delivered cold. Â Need I say more about the food??
They also charge a surcharge even when buying directly at their box office window. Not cool!
The venue itself is pretty nice. Â We enjoyed the acts.
I sent an email to them with my complaints/suggestions, never got a reply.
I will never go back.
If you do go, EAT BEFOREHAND!!
Dinner theater for comedy acts. Tickets said general admission but when we arrived, some tables were labled "reserved". How do you get that? Tables very tight and you will be seated with strangers. Â A very convenient venue to see some very good talent. Enjoyed Mario Cantone last night, along with emcee and another comedian. Night out for 2 was $170 with dinner, drinks, tip and tickets.
Review Source:This place was an awesome venue! It was big enough and yet, it still felt intimate. I love how the layout was done. Anywhere you sit, even at the back, you still had a great view of the stage.
I read the reviews prior to coming here and I was wary about the food. There were a few of us so we only ordered the smallest items possible since we were planning on going to dinner after the show. I must say, the food was not that bad. The meatball sliders were good and so was the pizza. The fries were soggy due to the gravy that they put on it but it was decent enough to eat.
I can't wait to go back to see another show!! (Hopefully Jo Koy comes back soon!!)
We saw Jo Koy here a couple of weeks ago and it was awesome! I loved the staff, theater, and price (not overly expensive like other places). The only thing I didn't like was the food. Next time I am going to use my two item minimum for drinks. Oh and don't forget to check into Yelp if it's your first time coming here - you will get 50% off of one of your appetizers!
Review Source:I have been to a few comedy clubs in the city and I always found them cramped and rude so when I first came here I was pleasantly surprised.  It was big enough to not feel cramped and the staff was attentive.  The food was not that great but that is not why I gave only 3 stars.  The host was very funny and so was the rest of comedians,  especially the headliner.  What makes me give this place 3 stars is because of what happened when he was telling one of his jokes.  I am not political but I know some people are and I think if you are a comedian and you are passionate about your political views you should not put it in the act.  The comic said something about the president  and someone in the audience said he sucks, no big deal.  This guy then went off on a tangent about how if you don't like like the president that you are raciest and prejudiced and told the girl that the only reason she didn't vote for him was because of the color of his skin.  This went on for about 10 mins and not only was he ranting and raving the club did not stick up for the girl or try to get him to on with his show, instead they escorted her and her table out of the club.  As far as I know when it comes to bars and drinking the rules are clear no politics or religion and I just feel that this was totally unnecessary and that this girl deserves a apology.  Other than that I would have given this place 4 stars and I felt after this I should give it 2, but the show was fun and besides that we did have a good time.
Review Source:Went there for the first time and saw Lonnie Love. The theatre is very cozy with no bad seats to be had. The food is very fairly priced and the pizza and sliders were excellant. The entire staff were really good at explaining how things worked and the waitress was smiley and efficient. Cant wait to go back again
Review Source:Just got back from my first visit at Levity Live. Â Found out about a free show due to the Super Storm Sandy and decided to give it a shot. Â First off, hats off to the owner for holding a free show during such a frustrating time for most locals. Â I'll definitely be back just based off this charitable idea. Â The MC stole the show in my opinion, I think his last name was Lozada. Â The drinks were a bit expensive, and I'll definitely be ordering tap next time. Â All in all though it was a great night and opportunity to get our minds off of what's been going on-so I'm grateful for that.
Review Source:What a great place, reminds me of a Las Vegas lounge/show room. Â Clean, good service and big names and good air conditioning. Â Levity is part of the organization that includes the Gotham Comedy Club, which brings in the big names.
This is NOT an inexpensive place.  The drinks (including beers) and the food are first rate and the crowd is well dressed and respectful.  I was able to order an IPA "imported" from California as well as two fancy drinks, minus the umbrellas, similar to what you would see on Bar Rescue.  I also ordered the short rib and brisket burger which I enjoyed tremendously, along with a bacon strip appetizer, which somehow mysteryously disappeared before finishing them.  The tie and jacket management as well as the waiters and hosts appear to be very well trained...and the bathrooms were clean.  I'm not a geek, but was impressed by the wireless  "tablets" the waiters were using.  Considering what the tolls an parking cost to go to NY City, it's better to come here than the city.  The bill just for myself including tip was
just over S60.00, not including the cost of the ticket.
I'm giving this new comedy club 4 stars based on how much we enjoyed the show, but there were also many issues that I will list below. Â
The good:
The food: My GF liked her salad and flan dessert, and I was very happy with the meatball sliders and the short rib/brisket burger. Â The sound system was good enough to hear every word, despite the raucous laughter. Â We saw Dave Attell, so expect that at least occasionally they will book top notch comedians. Â
The bad:
1. very expensive. Â $30 per ticket, plus $10 service fee, plus 2 item minimum (slider appetizer and a beer total about $20) = minimum of $60 per person. Â If you want mixed drinks it will be much more. Â We ordered much more, so our bill was ginormous. Â
2. Mixed drinks have almost as much alcohol as a small slice of rum cake. Â My large $16 drink was claimed to have vodka, gin, and rum in it. Â Apparently, they left out the words, "essence of..." Â Watering down drinks (or soda-ing down in this case) should be illegal. Â
3. chairs were uncomfortable and the tables were too small for eating. Â
4. the waiter spent the entire night complaining loudly, about everything: the other waiters, the people in the back, other customers, the yankees, etc. Â Yes, even when the performers were onstage. Â When he gave us the check, in the middle of Attell's routine, he made the annoying end of meal speech; thanks for coming, hope you enjoyed everything, blah blah. Â I am trying to see the f'n comedian! Â are you trying to talk me out of a tip? Â Just slip me the bill and get out the way.
5. Each comedian, at first, seemed unsure about how offensive they could be in a mall. The crowd loved the edgy material, and Comedy Clubs cannot succeed without allowing the comedians complete free reign. Â Management should probably remind the comedians to 'let er rip' in order to make them feel more comfortable. Â Eventually, the comedians figured out that the crowd could not be offended.
I love comedy so I will return occasionally, despite the initial problems. Â I truly want this club to do well. Â It is easier for me to get to than those in Manhattan or New Brunswick.
Levity Live is wonderful! They have awesome and popular comedians. The atmosphere is fun as soon as you walk in the door! The outside bar is spacious and eye catching and walking into the showroom, you get the sense your in a chic NYC comedy club yet without the expense of having to travel and pay to get into the city. Everything is reasonably priced and all around great time. The staff is professional friendly, especially the box office staff. I absolutely give this place 5 stars!!
Review Source:My husband and I had a great time at Levity Live. Â We arrived at 7 pm to a short line, checked in to see headliner Rodney Laney, who was quite funny. Â The lead in comedian, Trevor Noah was also hilarious. Â I had the short ribs with mashed potatoes and grilled carrots, which was tender and tasty. Â I was a little nervous about the food after reading the reviews. Â My husband had the blended beef burger which he said was so-so since he ordered medium well and it was a little overcooked, but he ate the entire thing. Overall, we had a great time and will return again soon.
Review Source:Love coming here..the comedians are always great and we always have a blast. Nothing exceptional about the menu...decent versions of bar food and a typical drink menu..you really just come here to laugh, drink, and have a good time. I knock a star off because it can be chaotic with the ordering in the beginning and its tough to order anything after the show has started and its dark and crowded.
Review Source:This place is AWFUL. Â I went with a group of ten for my grandmothers birthday to see Tracy Morgan, and it was the worst experience at a comedy club I've ever had! Â First of all we waited over an hour on the line just to get in, because the show before ours ran late. Â The least they could've done was tell us why we were all waiting so long. Â Everyone on the line was complaining. Â We finally got in and settled at our table which wasn't so bad. Â The warm up acts came on and they were funny, so we all started to forget about the horrible line experience. Â My party ordered food and drinks, I cant describe the food this place is serving...I'd rather eat a bowl of oatmeal with onions in it. Â Don't ever order food here. Â We had called in advance and asked if we could bring a cake for her birthday, they said yes however it would cost $4 just to cut the cake for us. Â 4 dollars to cut my damn cake? Â Like we couldn't do it ourselves? Â Anyway we said fine just so we could enjoy cake for her birthday. Â Turned out it was $4 for EACH PERSON to have a plate with a piece of cake on it. Â You have got to be kidding me!????? Â On top of that - when we asked to have someone cut the cake up for us - our waiter told us that his manager said "There are more important things to worry about, tell them they cant have cake here." Â So after all that, calling in advance, standing on line for an hour, PREPARED to pay for the cake cutting, they didn't even let us have it. Â Thank god it wasn't ice cream cake! Â This all rounded up to create a terrible experience for us all. Â The cherry on top? Â Tracy Morgan was HORRIBLE. Â He is crude, vulgar, and disgusting and TRUST me I've seen dirty comics, but he had NO class what-so-ever and was simply NOT funny. Â He was awful. Â I was excited to see him because of his fame from 30 Rock and other comedies from the past few years but he really has just said F*ck it. Â Definitely wasn't something to bring your grandmother too. Â I couldn't understand why the audience was laughing half the time. Â It was all so bad that my entire party of ten people left early! Â Never a good feeling to have to walk out on a performer before they finish. Â It's rude but it had to be done. Â If you insist on going, I'd say make sure you love the comedian, because it's not worth your time if you're unsure. Â Also - make sure you have tix in advance and try to show up early to get into the bar so you don't have to wait on the line forever. Â DEFINITELY don't eat anything. Â Eat before you get there. Â It's a cute venue but they really need to get their stuff together.
Review Source:Seating makes zero sense. Food is meh, drinks were pretty decent though. Owner seemed nice, but the guy who showed us to our seats was kind of rude. Asked if we could move somewhere so backs weren't to the stage and he copped an attitude. Opener was way funnier than the actual "comedian" who was a has-been and wasn't funny at all... Not the clubs fault, but definitely not worth the tickets plus price of the crappy food. . I don't think we're going back even with the free passes we got. =
Review Source:If you plan to go here there are a few very important tips you should know about, read on to see what they are. Saw Pablo Francisco here, her was good but their was a big problem with the sound in my opinion.
Levity live is a nice little comedy club in the Palisades mall, they seem to have a decent line-up of well known comedians and performers according to the program i checked out.
Here's what you need to know:
1) Get your tickets online. A quick scan and your in.
2) Get there about an hour early. Hang out at the bar (right side). TRUST ME. They close the door and the line forms outside. This means if you are inside you'll be one of the first 20-30 people in.
3) If you don't like sitting next to random people go with at least 4 people in your group. I didn't see any 2 person tables and they put you with a random couple.
4) I was told their is a 2 drink minimum but didn't see any literature confirming it.
Few issues for me. The staff was bleh. The bartender was disconnected. When we got inside their was a 'waiter' dude who was way to 'type A'. I hate being questioned when i make a decision about what i want. And to do the same thing to everyone at the table annoys me. I understand your trying to up-sell us but don't seem so desperate.
I was planning on getting a small plate of food to pick on or dessert but everything on the menu sounded so dam boring.
Pablo was great, however he makes allot of high pitched and intense noises and impressions. I feel like the sound person didn't do much to neutralize the noises. They were piercing and got really annoying after a while.
Not the best comedy show I've been to but not the worst.
Fun night and I didn't have to cross the GWB!
I had always wanted to try this club...although being in a mall could be a plus or minus. The Palisades Mall is slightly run down compared to its "hey day" but Levity looks recently renovated/created and it was a great room.
Finally had the impetus to explore with a groupon to see Steve Rannazzai (Kevin from the League.) Really funny btw.
The only reason for -star is that they seemed a bit disorganized, which really isn't their fault. When you arrive, we waited in line for about 20 min. But, then when they started letting people in the line crossed right in front of the box office line, which was confusing. I was also upset that we waited there 20 min. and no one told us that we couldn't just walk in wt the groupon, we had to get back into the box office line. There really should be a sign, or someone that works there telling ppl.
BUT, it was made up for by the fact that after that we were sat quickly and near the front. The service was quick and compared to the city, the drinks (2 item min.) weren't too expensive. We didn't eat, so I can't comment on food.
Pros: Great lineups, check out their website for a lot of great upcoming comedians, clean/new club, friendly service, you don't have to wait outside!!!!
Cons: Groupon sign would have helped, and only 3 bathroom stalls...really!!!!! For such a huge club, that's a bit ridiculous.
What a nice suprise this place turned out to be. Â Been here twice now and they will most certainly not be the last. Â The atmosphere was much bigger than your typical "tightly-packed" comedy club that you would find in Manhattan. Â They did a great job on the design and layout of the club. Â
Food I would have to say is "so-so." Â Your options include a more upscale bar-like food menu. Â My bf and I ordered I believe what was called the pizza nachos and the meatball sliders. Â They weren't bad ..... but they weren't "great." Â Next time I think I'll just have dinner beforehand and just order drinks. Â lol. Â
I guess the only negative thing I would have to say about this place was I guess whoever the covering manager was that night (who I'm assuming is the manager cause he wasn't dressed as one of the bouncers and had a suit and ear piece on) repremanded a few audience members for "calling-out" to the comedian. Â Which I would completely understand EXCEPT .... the comic was interacting with the audience members at that point and asking them questions. Â Well this guy didn't like it and even ended up kicking out a table that was arguing back with him. Â So one I didn't agree with that and two he was at the same time loud enough for us to hear, which I found very unprofessional.
Other than that minor incident, I would say everything else was great and I would definitely go back here. Â You could have dinner at one of the restaurants conveniently located inside the mall then go straight to the show. Â And if you still have it in you afterwards, you can have a fun night at Dave & Â Busters......So convenient in so many respects. Â
Great spot for a group gathering or a date with that special someone. Â This place I highly recommended.
We wanted a different kind of night out and did we ever get what we wanted.
Arrived at 6 for dinner, followed by show featuring Orny Adams, truly one of the funniest stand up acts I have ever seen. The emcee was great and the food not bad. Great wait staff and gorgeous place.
Be forewarned, go early to find parking, the mall parking is a nightmare, but well worth it.
Great for a group night out as well as couples, sit near the stage and you will be a target, but all in good fun.
A funny, great night out for everyone. I would go back again!
We are excited to have a place to see comedy close to Bergen County to supplement the laughs we get at the Banana Comedy Club at a reasonable price and a nicer location! Â The tickets are pretty cheap compared to NYC prices and there is a two item minimum but the drinks again are much cheaper than NYC. Â Expect to sit in long, thin tables (yes sideways as someone else said) unless you are in a booth. Â It's a smallish place so I think you would have a decent view no matter where you were seated. Â They also have a bar where you can hang out before the show but drinks here do not count towards your minimum. Â Parking is totally free and you can eat dinner at one of the many restaurants in the mall (including Tony Romas which is on the same level). Â The waiters take your order on a handheld machine and are quick bringing you the drinks! Â Overall, a nice place to enjoy some comedy!
Review Source:OK, how are people saying the food is amazing?? It's cheap gross bar food, and not even that good at all!!
But that's besides the point I guess. Â Let's talk about the actual comedy club first...
The place is a great place to get some laughs in. Â Nice ambiance and not too big so I think everyone should have a good view (minus those stuck behind pillars). Â We saw Russell Peters and had an awesome night. Â 4 stars for that! Â
If you want to sit in the front, make sure you go for dinner since those tables in front of only if you're eating. Â
Not a fan of how they fill the place. Â They save seating the front tables for slightly later and seat the 2nd row first. Â When asked if we could sit in the front, we were told no. Â But yet we saw a couple getting sat in the front and the poor guy didn't want to but they forced him. Â Made no sense. Â
There is a 2 item minimum but it's really not hard to do at all. Â They have the typical beers on tap and Sam's Seasonal is the only 'unique' beer which is a slight joke. Â But hey, again...not there for the food. Â
So the food? Â Gross for the most part. Â Cheese steak was grosser than Steak-ums. Â The meatball sliders were actually tasty but there was so much stale bread, I just ate the meatball. Â The pizza nachos were also gross...sliced up pita with sauce and cheese on them and piled in a mess. Â The ONLY awesome thing on the menu? Â The spicy & sweet bacon!! Can't go wrong with bacon, right? Â Just started salivating thinking about it...mmmmmmm
Located in the Palisades Mall, Levity Live is a comedy clue located on the top floor, next to Target.
I came here for a Russell Peters show and it was good. The two opening acts and emcee were also entertaining. I called before hand and made dinner reservations. My party and I ended up lining up at 6pm. We were in a short line that moved quickly. We were seated at a booth. Not bad. Clean venue.
Food items overall were ok. The menu consists of glorified bar food.
famous gravy meatball sliders - these award winning sliders were my favorite - pretty good
sweet & spicy bacon strips - served in a glass cup, they were neither sweet nor spicy. I love bacon and they were disappointing.
sweet & spicy wings - same as the bacon. Pedestrian wings, and probably sadder than Buffalo Wild's nearby
short rib burger - cooked correctly and the funny fries were ok
Service was good. I can't complain. Our server Sonny did his best to take our order and be a vanishing ninja most of the show with minimal disruption during the acts.
2 drink minimum but if you eat dinner that is waived. When you think about it, go early for at least appetizers so you can get better seats. Bucket of beer: good value.
Good to know next time: Doors open at 7 for a 7:30pm show, but open at 6 for those with dinner reservations. If you want premium seating for a 7:30pm show, be there at 5:30pm and wait on line. You'll be front and center, ready to be heckled.
I would come back for another show.
IFHTP 1
Great Acts, terrible service.
They tried to tell us it was assigned seating and sat us with a completely obstructed view. Â We had to call management over to ask to be moved. Â Not a great impression. Â
They had a two item minimum. Â Their specials were 23 oz hurricane drinks that you could take the glass home as your 2nd item. Â I understand why they pushed that because if you just got a regular glass of wine and ordered your second glass - it never came...or you had to ask for it three times. Â
Another thing, they deliver your check during the headliner and basically insist you pay it before he end of the show, Â Very disruptive to figure out a bill between 8 people in the middle of the act.
Lastly, the mall cops. Â Probably not LL's problem, but they were extremely rude for no apparent reason. Â We were outside in the mall area waiting for the rest of our party to come out from the rest room and one mall cop yelled out, "If you are coming out of the show, LEAVE.". Really? Â I felt like I was 16 getting yelled at for loitering.
We drove up from South Jersey to see Russell Peters - he was worth it, the experience, not so much.
Really Psyched about Levity Live - saw Adam Ferrara in his Saturday appearance and he was excellent. They have an amazing line of of top-notch comedians coming so check their website. The club is new and clean and blows away the old, dirty clubs in the city. Don't take Jenna's review to heart, she obviously doesn't go to a lot of comedy clubs, if she did she would know that it is standard practice to pay the check before the last comic so the club can be reset for the next show. If she thought Levity Live had tight seating then she should try a club in the city and see how she likes sitting IN someone's lap.
The long and short of it is this, Rockland finally has a REAL COMEDY CLUB that has the clout and experience behind it to attract A-list comedians. Support the club by coming out and I guarantee you will have a great time. Average ticket is $40, free parking, no bridge toll, no hassle driving into Manhattan, it is a steal. I'm looking forward to many more Saturday night's there!
It's about time there is a Manhattan style comedy club in Rockland County. Â I was there on New Years and again for Adam Ferrara. Â Staff was top notch, prices are reasonable, and the place is huge. Â If you've every been to a comedy club, they're typically cramped and small. Â Not this place. Â For the person who complained about the seating, you only need to turn your chair. I will go back any time I can, and you should too. Â Welcome to Rockland!
Review Source:The tables are on top of each other. You are stuck sitting sideways unless you are lucky enough to get a booth. If you happen to have a party larger then 6 they have to sit alone at a separate table near you. The purchase mininmum of two items is fine. But, the fact that the staff gives you ur check in the middle of the show is classless. Â Then they tell you, " we need the check before the comedian goes off stage.". You have to interrupt the show to speak with your table about the check and getting money. Â Typical horrible palisades mall experience.
Review Source:Caught the Adam Ferrara show and had a great time. So it's located in a mall.....it's actually a very nice venue! They did a great job with the design and since the place just opened, everything is shiny and clean. They open 90 minutes early for those that want to have dinner before the show (and get the best seats). Everyone else can enter 30 minutes before the show. There is a 2 drink minimum of any combination of food and/or drink. I got the "Funny Fries" - their take on disco fries, and was blown away! Honestly, I thought the food would frankly suck - but the fries were crisp and seasoned perfectly, the cheese was nicely melted and real (not a cheese sauce), the portion was generous, and the gravy came in a cute ramekin on the side. I am seriously thinking of going again just for the fries. The service was eager to please and fast. Overall - an NYC caliber club without the hassle of having to travel to NYC! Â Highly recommend!
