    Positives:
Beautiful space, was very surprised how gorgeous the restaurant was inside.

Service was terrific.  Funny, intelligent fellow named Eli who knew his stuff.

Fish was prepared nicely, nothing special.  Plain, grilled, but fresh.

The only negatives were that the meal took a long time come out, as did appetizers, the fish is pretty pricey at around $32. each entree, and comes only with some wilted greens that had no flavor at all.

Other than that, I might go back just for the mezze at the bar, because the roasted eggplant dip and tzatsiki was very good, as was the shrimp w/ feta in tomato sauce.
Appetizers were better than the entree.
Skip the salads, at $12. each, they had no flavor whatsoever (I had the Lithos salad w/ apple and greens).

This is our new fun spot. My wife loves the place as they serve great drinks at ok prices. The food in general is pricey so don't go nuts over the sticker shock if you eat here. That said their happy hour, bar specials and early bird prix fixe menus are absolute bargains.

Servings sizes here are huge and we quite often come for the appetizers, soup and salad over the entrees.  Its hard to actually have room for entrees because the portions are so large.

The food is very, very fresh, I personally love the fun owner and have never had an issue with the waitstaff who are really helpful. Front of house gals are really nice and friendly as well.  They do sometimes make mistakes but are on it right away if you let them know.  They also serve some of the best cocktails in the area. We actually travel 20 minutes from Plainfield just so that my wife can have their tasty cocktails.

Generally speaking this is regular Greek food in a nicely done space. They pay attention to details i.e. its not a fake nice place like some places are in NJ. Where the place tries to be upscale yet you see nasty water stains on their drop ceiling panels, holes in the wall and cracks etc...etc... but don't mind that just go for the food and fun atmosphere.

Almost forgot for dessert don't hesitate to try their Greek dessert wine by Vinsanto, its made from dried raisins and just bursting with flavor. I like it waaaaaay better than port.

OMG, I found my favorite Greek place in Jersey.  This is is as good, or maybe even better than any place in Astoria.  Everything from the lemon chicken soup, to the greek salad, to the mussels and calamari were OUTSTANDiNG and SUPER fresh and tasty.  The shredded philo with cheese and honey was out of this world.  The sweetness and saltiness of the cheese just worked so well together

This was my 2nd trip for lunch and had virtually the same experience.  In general, the food is not bad, but a bit pricey for the quality.  The dips were good, the bread warm, the olives on oil perfect, but the toasted pitas they served were tough.  The ambiance is top notch and just for that it makes the "priciness" worth it.

But the problem I had on both occasions was the service. We went as a group from work, about 8 of us, and both times they brought the wrong dishes to three of us.  I also made the mistake of ordering fish (the day's special), and I broke the cardinal rule of not ordering fish on Tuesdays.  It was bathed in lemon and butter (and I love butter) but it overpowered the fish and the texture was very chewey.  The spinach bed under the fish was tasteless and cooked for too long.

Bottom line is to sit near the entrance to avoid the bad waiter (slow, did not seem happy to be there or to care about your order, wrote everything down but amazingly came back with the wrong order).  Dishes took a very long time to come out.  Go a la carte and avoid the prix fixe if you are going to try it.  Salads are not bad and my colleagues liked the ribs.

A sophisticated Greek restaurant with wonderful ambiance and good food. The decor is top notch for the area with high ceilings, modern furniture and pretty chandeliers. The selection of Greek wine is also neat... I really enjoy one of their Sauvignon Blanc picks. The food is hit or miss with some standouts and more average dishes. We love the octopus, zucchini chips, and shrimp to start. (I've had the octopus as a main course before and it was plenty of food for a small woman if you plan to share some tapas to start.) I also heard that the stuffed calamari is very popular. The fish and lamb entrees are usually very nice, which you would expect. Finally, I love the baklava. It's a very nice portion drizzled with a lot of honey. Why 4 stars? Sometimes the waiters can be inattentive in the cavernous space. And the food is not truly 5 stars if it were compared to Scalini Fedeli, for example. Still, this is a great place for dates, a girls night out, or group dinners.

The only problem with this place is that you spend half the dinner verifying that your'e still in New Jersey.... You're immediately transported to Greece with amazing fair and confident service.

The menu provides many classic options each with well thought and perfectly executed additions and twists. You can't go wrong with any of the specials and the fresh fish are made to perfection.

The Lithos chips, taramosalata and Feta filled pastry are my favorite starters along with the Greek salad. We've done the Lavraki (Branzino) on a few occasions but consider the short ribs and lamb options as well.

DO NOT SKIP desserts. The galaktobourek (spelling?) and walnut cakes alongside the yogurt (honey or various jams accompany) are the go-to...

Wine list is brief but offers every option at a perfectly acceptable price.

There were service lapses that significantly marred the experience.

Upon sitting down we were promptly given the menus and the waiter did follow-up in a proper time frame to see if needed anything. But it was only at that point in time that he asked if we wanted to see the wine by the glass list. Yes we did and it would have been nice to see it up front. After we got that we asked a question about an item on the menu and it was only at that point in time that he mentioned that there were specials and would be like to hear them. Well, duh yes.

Then the waiter disappeared. For a loooooong time. With nothing, no bread, no olives, nothing on the table. Finally he emerged to take our wine and food order.

Bread and olives arrived at the table, The salad we chose to share arrived, nicely divided for us. But all that came well before the wine came.

Then the busboy comes to clean the plates. He takes the salad plates AND the bread plates, including bread we were eating. He moves utensils to clean crumbs from the table and then just leaves them smack in middle in the spot he moved them to. And he does that for both of us.

It is unfortunate that these service lapses are what leaves the lasting impression.

The food was good but not without flaws. The Horiatiki salad, basically their version of Greek Salad was fresh but way overdressed with olive oil. Also the presentation, with one large chunk of feta cheese and the vegetables all in large chunks as well made it hard to eat as a salad. The Seafood Youvetsi had orzo which was very soft making the whole thing uniformly soft in texture and it was lacking in color as well. The seafood was unbalanced, being overwhelmingly calamari (though the calamari was well prepared).

All in all the meal did not make me want to run back there anytime soon.

Wonderful food, ambiance, great service and friendly staff.  Owner even stopped by our table and chatted a little bit.  They gave us a good deal when we had a large party eating there, and their recommendations were spot-on.  The food was excellent, especially the octopus appetizer and the molten chocolate souffle.  There was some kind of baked apple dessert that tasted exactly like lasagna, but that was their goal so it's an interesting dish.  Steak was cooked perfectly along with the asparagus, and the potatoes were served plain but didn't need anything anyway, everything was excellent.  The Greek coffee is delicious, too, if you've got a taste for something strong and unique.  Valet parking, beautiful and chic interior without being cold, bathrooms well-tended and the staff is excellent.  Absolutely worth going to.

    Service and Ambience:
Above excellent service, the hostess was very professional and greeted us warmly as soon as we arrived. We were seated near the seafood display, which I thought was pretty neat that they have their fresh fish and fruits displayed so nicely for clients to see. The ambience was really nice, something that you'd expect in an upscale restaraunt in the city (actually nicer because it's a stand-alone building that can afford to maximize their space). It is really beautiful inside with the white upholstery and the grand-dining feel of the seating in front of the fireplace. Our server was excellent, and always on hand and attentive when the table or ourselves needed something - meaning he was there doing stuff for us even when we didnt know we were missing something.

    Food:
Oh my word, is the food good. Like the other reviews that specified the "lemon chicken soup" - GET IT. I could have eaten just that and walked away happy. I ordered the red snapper, and it was huge. Really big portions and very delicious. It was as our waiter said, about 90% deboned and out of the whole fish, I found 1 or 2 bones - really, really good preparation. The fish was served head and tail on, which I like. SOOO delicious. The horta could have used more salt and lemon though, but the greens were cooked very well. The naganaki was excellent - I always order something cheese-y when I go to Greek restaurants and this did not disappoint!!

    Price:
I would pay again for the quality of the food, the attentiveness and service we received from the staff (I love it when the chef comes out to talk to you about their food!). Definitely an upscale vibe but without the snubbing and the food justifies going there for repeat visits. Highly, highly recommend!!!

Lithos is a fairly new classy Greek restaurant in the area. Situated in the midst of nothingness on Eisenhower Pkway, don't be misguided by the lack of cars in front during lunch hour. I came here for weekday lunch, and it was packed!

The restaurant is bi-level with a large island bar and booths on the main level, and restrooms and more tables on the second level (wheelchair-accessible with a ramp!) This place is perfect for a holiday party or just a special occasion/celebratory meal.

Since the entrees ranged from $12-15 already, my mother and I decided to try the Prix-Fixe lunch for $19. My chicken and lemon soup was perfection! I loved how the subtlety of the lemon flavor actually highlighted the chicken even more. My mother got the Spanakopita and she thoroughly enjoyed it! Her fish entree was incredible, but I absolutely loved the Orzo a la ouzo, easily the best I've ever tasted! With a touch of spiciness and mixed with the shrimp, the orzo was cooked just right. The chef's choice dessert was baklava, and that was pretty good too.

And the service was very attentive. From the hostess to the servers, we could not have been more pleased by the amount of care and professionalism the staff expressed during our lunch. Can't wait to come back!

I came here for lunch today with coworkers. I was amazed with the size of the actual restaurant: it looks much smaller from the outside. The restaurant itself is very spacious, classy, and newly renovated.  The ambience was nice and upscale with very large booths and tables. The wait staff was excellent. Our server was very friendly and always kept on checking on us. I decided to go with the pre fix lunch menu (appetizer, entrée, and dessert for $19).

As an appetizer, I had the Avgolemono (Chicken Lemon Soup). O M G! It was that good. Actually, it tasted just like Chicken Francese (except as a soup). Everyone else also enjoyed the soup. Usually when I eat at a Greek restaurant, I always order the Chicken Souvlaki. I decided to expand my horizons and order the Orzo a la ouzo (Wild Shrimp, Orzo, Saffron and Ouzo in a zesty Tomato Sauce) as my main entree. Probably the best Orzo I've ever had at any restaurant! It was great! The orzo was cooked perfectly. The shrimp wasn't overdone and there was a burst of flavor in every bite. Not to mention, portion size was huge for a pre-fixe lunch menu. It was more like the size of a dinner entrée.

For dessert, they served us baklava. The nut mixture was  a bit dry and not too sweet.
Overall, we had a great lunch and would definitely be back!

My wife and I were greeted with great service and beautiful atmosphere but mistakes in food preparation were made on the entrees.  Unfortunately, they had to be returned. The staff was attentive and helpful in correcting the issue and took care of us properly.   Best bet is to stick with the fish entrees.

Absolutely delicious dinner. Shared appetizers: phyllo wrapped feta with pistachios and honey, shrimp with feta and ouzo (will order this as entree next time - it was that good) were terrific. Greek salad good but not great. Fresh grilled fish were universally    enjoyed; roasted lemon potato side very good, Spanakorizo (spinach and rice) was delicious. Baklava was to die for! Lovely waitress and owner stopped by to check on us. Intend to make this a regular hangout!

If you want classy Greek food this is the place for you.  Seafood is obviously the highlight here.  Fresh seafood dishes are light and tasty.  The Chilean seabass was in a light tomatoe broth and the seafood with linguine was also very good.  Mussels with feta cheese was nicely done with a smoky flavor (although I'm not sure what makes the dish Greek beyond the feta cheese).  Otherwise the broth was strong enough to flavor the mussels.  I hate broth that tastes watery.

    Service was attentive and excellent.

The prices, however, are NYC prices.  This is not going to be a causal place for the average person however.  There's a price to be paid for that freshness of the seafood.

I would definitely recommend people try it out especially if you're celebrating a special ocassion.

Upscale for Livingston, looks like a place from Hoboken or NYC. Attentive staff, nice owner. Great place for business lunches, celebrations. I went there two days ago, after studying the online menus, jonesing for vegetarian moussaka. I was told that they don't serve that anymore and they just changed up their menu two days prior my visit. The online menu is still wrong.
The Priz fixe is one sheet of paper with very limited choices.

So, I ordered the regular moussaka and it was visually appealing, filling, and flavorful, like a Mediterranean shepherds pie. The bechamel sauce was extremely dense.

My friend ordered the chicken souvlaki and it was a large portion as well. The ingredients looked fresh, it also had a small salad in the plate with a generous piece of feta. The pita bread was toasted just right and the tzaziki sauce had some extra garlic flavoring to it.

I ordered a dessert which had "chocolate" in the description. When it arrived, my friend and I thought the wrong dessert came because we could not find chocolate, just a mere dusting of it in the middle of the dessert. I was more than a bit disappointed. I asked the waiter about the phyllo texture and he said it should be crispy. It wasn't and I informed him. He said" some people really like the dessert and some don't". For 9$ on dessert, I would like a little more than a dusting of chocolate, please.

My friend ordered baklava and it was anything but dry. She actually found it too moist and neither of us finished out dessert plates, which is almost unheard of.

This was my first visit to the restaurant. Went for a girls' night mid-week out and sat at the high stools next to the bar. The waiter was excellent, the wine suggestion was on the mark, and the apps we split were delicious. I would recommend this place to anyone wanting to eat good food in the area. The bathroom was very clean as well. Just don't go for people watching as it appears to be rather empty most of the time...probably due to the off-the-beaten-path location. Definitely worth the trip. I will be revisiting soon with family!

Came here last night for a work dinner with my CEO and two of my doctors, at the suggestion of one of my doctors who is a regular here.  I found Lithos to be very nicely done.  Spacious, classy, and obviously newly renovated.  For a Thursday night, I felt it was quite empty, but the location is sort of awkward, standing alone right off of Eisenhower parkway.

There is a spot in the main dining area where fresh fish are kept on ice, and you are able to choose one as your meal.  Our server was very helpful and knowledgable, pointing out each fish, describing its taste, and informing us of the price.  Being the only female at the table, I felt like a baby, but called him over and asked if the fish came with the head.  He said yes, it usually does, but if I wanted the head and the tail cut off, they would certainly do that for me.  I told him the eyes freaked me out, and the doctor sitting to my right agreed.  So we shared a black bass----  EYES AND TAIL FREE.  It was very good-  not much of a fishy flavor.  Came with green vegetables which were also very enjoyable.

As appetizers we shared the Greek Tomato salad, as well as the calamari wrapped around three cheeses.  I did not try the calamari, as it only came with Three pieces (there were four of us), and I wasn't the hugest fan of what it looked like... I'm not really into raw looking things.  But everyone else enjoyed it.  The tomato salad was delicious.

Although the restaurant was rather empty, the bar off to the side was more bumping.  Looked like a bit of a younger, professional crowd, and I would have liked to mingle a bit over there!  Prices here were sort of high for the area, but the atmosphere inside the restaurant, as well as the quality of the food sort of justified the prices.

Four stars for an attentive wait staff, quality food, and good atmosphere. There is also an outdoor area that didn't seem to be open, but would have loved to sit out there. Location could be better.

The calamari appetizer was not the best (tasted a little fishy), but it was enough for a meal! As my entree, I ordered the linguine in a cream sauce and that came with bay scallops (or just small scallops), shrimp, calamari, and octopus. It was very creamy, but also very tastey. Once again, the calamari in this dish was not fabulous, but I would still order it again from the scallops and shrimp. Overall, I would go back again, but maybe try a different appetizer.

Delicious food, gorgeous interior and solicitous "Lithos" family.

Had a special seafood soup of the day and for my main course really enjoyed perfectly cooked scallops with stuffed crepe! And of course an amazing Greek dessert! I perfect dinner!

    Definitely will be back!

I went here for lunch with 3 other colleagues and we split many of the appetizers.

There were some that were good but many that were off the mark.
The beet salad was excellent - red and yellow beets had a nice texture and the sweetness was offset nicely by the arugula and goat cheese.  The spanakopita was very large for appetizer size, but good for sharing among 4.

The grilled octopus and grilled calamari appetizers both were drenched in grill seasoning and salt. They were disappointing.

One highlight was the baklava - a little dry, but the small portion size was perfect for a sweet bite after the meal and sweetness level was just right.

The ambience was nice and seemed upscale with the white linens and very large booths and tables. But - the waiter never asked us about drinks, so we only had water with the meal.

These guys sure know how to make delicious food. I'm not at all familiar with Greek food that doesn't come wrapped in a pita, so I can't say whether it's authentic as well.

Bear in mind I'm not reviewing the main restaurant. Instead this is a review of their catering, since we had them cater a family function in their basement (very clean look to it in addition to some very pretty wine cellars downstairs).

We had the pikilia (tzatziki, melitzanosalata and tirokafteri), grilled calamari, fried calamari with tartar sauce, seafood yuvetsi, eggplant mousaka and some sort of chicken breast.

Everything was cooked perfectly, even the grilled calamari. Flavors in every dish and in every bite.

And I got to try their baklava. Amazing. It's not the same honey, liquidy baklava you get almost everywhere else. The nut mixture was more dry, yet still had the baklava flavor.

I was very impressed. If this place is within your budget and within your driving range, I would definitely give Lithos a try.

Had no intention of EVER trying this restaurant. Our friends picked it for their anniversary. What a pleasant surprise! Had fried zucchini chips first. Almost a tempura quality. Also hummus with pita chips. We finished the chips so our waiter brought toasted pita....much better. Great sea bass and we will definitely be back.

Excellent food but really expensive.  The fish specials were $35, for example.  Specialty cocktails are $13.  Those are New York City prices.  The food is comparable to some of the better places in New York, but this is by no means a fancy restaurant, just a very nice one.  Tables are spaced well apart, and the service was very good.

Awesome place, sat outside and had a wonderful view of the sunset. Our waitress was the bartender so had some really great drinks, she also offered some cool recipes. I started with the Mojito which was deiish! We also ordered a bottle of their house wine, for $20 it was sweet but went really well with the fish!! Dinner and apps were really good and authentic. It was definately pricey but well worth it.. Everyone was really nice and even the owner came out and asked how everything was, etc. I would definately go back!

My wife and I routinely dine out three, and sometimes four, times weekly. Our habit is to return only after we've had a great culinary experience. That says a lot since, as of this writing, my wife and I have been to Lithos three (3) times in a little over a month. This is an unbeatable Greek restaurant!

The first time we dined alone. Each subsequent time, we arrived with other friends or family. Each of us, and all the others, found their "Lithos" experience nothing but exceptional! Food wise, service-wise and otherwise!

Every menu item ordered for our respective tables was well prepared, tasty and satisfying. Obviously, this is the ultimate goal when dining out anywhere. We also make a distinction between eating out and dining out. At "Lithos", one dines out! The bonus: one feels like a member of their family, even after a single visit.

We're already planning our next visit!

Really great food. The service was incredible. The owners treat you like you're in their home. Even tried Greek wine for the first time and loved it. Highly recommended.

Had the langoustines and they were slightly overlooked, but they're extremely hard to cook and were still very good. They treated my 4 year old daughter very well and catered to her every request ( which were many).  Classy, high end places that still treat you like family and make you feel comfortable with kids are rare.

Overall great for families or couples.

As we live in the same town, and my how the restaurants all blow in this town, this one is a great find. They're still working some of the kinks out, been there 3x and will def continue to go. Food is quite good, service needs a bit of escalation and the ambiance is very nice. Most of all, the owners are on hand, listening to suggestions and improving with each visit. All the makings of a great new restaurant. I do recommend Lithos w/out hesitation.

Just had a very nice lunch with wife and friend of 3 appetizers, a salad and dessert. Loved the environment! Past restaurants in this remote location have failed and we feel this one has every right to thrive. The food was great - grilled calamari, garides sakanaki, which is a plate of 6 shrimp in spicy red sauce, and feta aiginis, a delicious phyllo wrapped feta with a thyme-honey sauce. We finished with baklava which was the freshest and crispest I have every eaten.

It can be either causal or fancy, depending on your mood, but is classy enough for a date or a fun lunch. Great wine selection. Great service. Very neat overall with nice bathrooms, too. Highly recommend this one. I have not yet been here for dinner. The prices are a bit steeper than the location can probably support. More like NYC prices. I do hope they stay open! I will come back.
