Masala Grill & Restaurant

It's been some time since my original review and I'm back again with a bit more to say.  Read the first review for more details.  When I've dined in, I have enjoyed it since now knowing which items I like most.  I tried take out the other day, ordering entrees I am aware of.  The only problem was the order taker.  She suggested other entrees.  It was a strange call.  When I asked about specific entrees she said they didn't offer that.  I could be mistaken and maybe she meant they were sold out, but I remember her saying they didn't offer it and suggested I try a different entree.  
Bad idea.  I was in a hurry and placing the order by phone was the most convenient option.

The take out portions are meager in comparison to what is served in house.  Alike most Cabbie joints there was a thick 2" film of oil, sitting stagnant at the top of the containers.  Ugh!.  After removing all of that oil the container was only filled so much with gravy and "meat".  I was disappointed with the food.  Her recommendations were bunk.

Stick with what you know and if it's sold out, keep trucking.  If I can't stay for dinner, I'll probably skip next time.  I'd love to keep the star rating at four stars but the fact that that much oil is included in every take out container, is a bad sign to me.  We're not talking about small portions sold for under five dollars, these are their usual entrees at regular prices.

I happened to see this place recently on a walk eastward on Devon from Kedzie. I'm guessing it hasn't been there too long. As far as I know, it's the westernmost restaurant on the Devon IndoPak. (I didn't see much activity in the nearby Delhi Darbar and wondered whether it was closed.) So, parking and travel would be easier than with other places.

I didn't think the food was transcendent, but the service was excellent and I'd definitely return for another meal. It's a nice addition to that area (which doesn't have much going on in the way of restaurants).

Pretty good food. The masala chicken wings weren't super good. The karachi gosht was good. The kabab paratha wasn't what I expected. it was ground beef.  I didn't like it. But I liked how it came w/ free naan. THe biriyani was good.
