I know nothing about Indian food.
Less than nothing, having never enjoyed this yumminess before.
Luckily, my Boyfriend's family love Indian food and were able to order enough to feed a hungry crowd! It is all vegetarian, so if you are looking to eat well and to stick to your healthier-eating New Year Resolution, this may be the place for you to heartily indulge without guilt.
Anytime I can get away with starting a meal with dessert, I'm happy. Lentil Doughnuts? Yes, Please! I had no idea lentils could be made into perfect little doughnuts- these were light and remarkable- a perfect pairing with the coffee, which warmed us up from the icy cold outdoors.
I also enjoyed the samosas and this really decadent rolled dosai the size of the Sears Tower- ahem- or maybe just dangling from the length of the table- a magnificently massive crepe, crisp at the surface, rolled with seasoned potato, curry or tumeric and golden grilled onions with cups of various sweet, spicy and creamy sauces for dipping (or in my case, dousing). Others oohed and ahhed over curry and vindaloo but I was busy trying to put away as much of the doughnuts and dosai as possible.
Did I mention the portions are massive? There were leftovers. Enough for a couple of meals, divided by five people. Yum.
I don't know if my consumption was a healthy example, but the food sure is good for you on a cold day... and you can start with dessert!
