We have been Campeche customers for many years and have to say that the changes they have made there are a huge disappointment. The decor and menu have been "upgraded". There are fewer menu items to choose from and the prices are high in comparison to other area Mexican restaurants. Gave Campeche another try last night and will NOT go back again.

We ordered drinks, an appetizer and entrees. Service was attentive and cordial.
The queso fundido was a plate of melted cheese with some sort of marinara type salsa on top of it,  chorizo on the side and three, yes three, corn tortillas... we were a table of four. We asked for two additional tortillas and received three. The kicker is that when the bill arrived we saw we were charged $1.75 for the extra tortillas. Who charges for a few extra tortillas? Especially when there aren't enough for the table. I could buy 6 packages of tortillas (72) at the grocery for the same price.

Now, I'm not one to normally contest a bill and it was only 1.75 but I thought this charge was ridiculous. Our server spoke with the owner?/manager about our complaint and they refused to remove the charge. So much for customer service.

Anyway, the entrees were decent but not exceptional by any means. You won't miss anything by skipping Campeche. There are much better Mexican restaurants around.

Just retuned after their modest renovation. Delicious food is still the same. Menu is generally the same with breakfast additions. Service is great during slow to moderately busy times. Only one bad service experience during a very busy time but understandable. All chicken items are tasty with very choice tender pieces. Salsas are amazing. We easily go through three servings. Pico de gallo is close to hot. Recommended.

Lame lame lame. Decor was nice except for the 20 or so wall- and pillar-mounted fixtures casting an awful, garish florescent-white light all over the damn place. It was empty except for the party at one other table. Even so, service was only so-so.

Steak burrito was the blandest I can ever remember eating. And something must have changed behind the bar since the rave margarita reviews on this site from years past because mine was HORRIBLE -- it tasted like they just poured mixer into the glass and didn't bother with the tequila. Easily the worst I've ever had, and that's quite a feat since there are hundreds of places in this town that proudly serve thoroughly shitty margaritas. And nine bucks for a "large" that was maybe 8 ounces? If I'd ordered a "regular"-sized margarita instead, would they have just brought me a shot glass of mixer instead of an 8-ounce glass of it?

Campeche had the quality of a middling late-night taqueria with the decor and prices of a slightly up-market sit-down restaurant. Not a good mix. Definitely won't be going back to this place.
