This will always be my hotspot to wine tasting and relaxation. The original tasting of flatbreads and the great complimentary crackers and breads for wine made a great combo to dive and enjoy the rest of the day or night!!

Still an off experience.  Max's Wine Dive and Cru are better options, and well worth the drive.

The food and the wine list are still good, but the service is off.  The other night we had difficulty figuring out who our waiter was, as it seemed there were a couple in our section, plus the water person, plus the random woman dealing with some of the  checks.  However, the one cheerful dude we encountered was also recommending swill to the table next to us, so it's a bit of a wash.

We paid in part with a Groupon and the random woman grabbed my fiance's phone and walked off with it without asking, which made us both really uncomfortable.  She eventually returned it without sincerely apologizing (we complained when someone asked us if we needed anything), and then instead of returning the check to us she handed it off to one of her colleagues to give to us.  I don't know about you, but not everyone is going to be OK with handing over a $500 corporate phone to a random stranger, security locks in place or not.  The passive-aggressive, underhanded way the check was returned to us did not impress us either.

Mercy used to be great, but not any more.  In 2008, I could not have recommended it enough, in 2013, I cannot recommend you stay away more.

I've been to Mercy more times than I can count and its been a slow slide down hill.  The wine is still top notch, the food is still very good, the service is the problem.

The past few times we've gone, the service has been unsteady at best, and last night it was even worse.  We came away from dinner not having any idea who our server was among the ~4 different people that interacted with us.  This sort of unsteady service has been a hallmark of the past few visits we've made to Mercy.

I'm not counting this as part of my 2 stars for Mercy, but the parking situation is absolutely HORRIBLE.  You're basically forced to valet park, or fight for one of the ~5 nearby spots, or park football fields away from Mercy and walk.  The valets block off virtually all the nearby parking spots, even if they barely have any cars in them.  Just an added insult, that makes Mercy even less appealing than their service already makes them.

I went to Mercy with my daughter for her 21st birthday recently.  She wanted to order a "good" glass of wine for her birthday.  Our waitress was perfect for the occasion-- she made several suggestions for a first time wine drinker in "flights" (half glasses).  The atmosphere was elegant and fun.  We sat on the second floor and were able to "scope out" the entire restaurant below.  We didn't order dinner, we simply had bruschetta.  It was dee-lish!  Both my daughter and I will be back to Mercy again!

It's been awhile since I've been here... but I recently went with a girlfriend who had never been before and we both thoroughly enjoyed it! Per the waitress, Hannah's recommendation we settled for a bottle of Bordeax that was in the $35 - $40 price range.  it was amazing.  We had a GROUPON, so for those of you who don't know... you have to spend $35 on food to get the $25 off.  Which isn't really a problem here.  We got a cheese plate which consisted of a brie, boursin garlic and herbs, and the cheddar w/ Guineess beer.  The Boursin garlic and herbs was Hannah's recommendation and it was spot on! Probably our favorite cheese of the night.  We also ordered the Ahi Tuna plate and the crab cakes.  Being a huge seafood fan, i've eaten crab cakes all over the place and these were incredible.  They aren't the biggest i've seen for a portion of 2 for $12 but when you bite into them...definitely worth it! And the sauce was incredible as well.  I think it was like a lemon tang dressing.  Will definitely keep giving Mercy my business even though I am walking distance from CRU and Coal Vines in Plano at shops at legacy.

Love this place! Crowd can get a little snooty, but people with money like to spend it in the nice places.

They staff always works to accommodate, and food is terrific. Save room for their dessert, ask about homemade ones, awesome.

I go to Mercy quite often with a girlfriend. This place is wonderful! Why 4 stars and not 5? There is a time we went that the service was terrible:(..Had that been the FIRST time we went, we would not have returned..

Now, on to the GOOD times! There wines are extensive, and the sommeliers are not shy about sharing their opinions (we have been steered away from a few...ha). When you find one you like, you can even buy some 'to go' at 40% off:)

NOTE: Try the LaMadrid (Argentinian Malbec)..which, as I type this, my girlfriend is telling me NOT to share that information as YOU ALL will drink it up and there will be NONE left for us:)

The atmosphere was very nice, waiter (Dusty) was very professional and made an excellent recommendation of wine. He was very knowledge and very friendly! Never got to hear the band was there in the early part of the evening. Definitely would recommend and I'm planning on going back.

It's in that center in Addison that for some reason, I have trouble finding things.  It's right across from Social House; knowing that makes it a lot easier to find.  Mercy has an impressive list (book, I should say) of wines that you can order by glass or by bottle.  The service was pretty good and everyone was very friendly.  The only thing that confused me is why they could not make a reservation for a party of 10 (8 was okay and 15 was okay)...as it's a wine bar, you know that it can get pricey, so try to go with at least one other person who likes the same wine that you like.  You can save a little bit by sharing bottles instead of ordering by the glass.

We love Mercy!  They have a very nice variety of wines, and are great at suggesting new ones to try based on the sort of wines you like.  Live music starts at 9 on Saturdays, but I've never felt like it became so crowded or noisy that it effected the nice, relaxed ambiance of the place.

As for the valet, the price is $5 until around 8PM when it goes up to $10.  The good thing though is parking is really easy and available just around the corner.  We've only used valet when the weather was really bad.

    Love, love Mercy Wine Bar!

Went here for the first time this past Wednesday and I was impressed.  Nice ambience, great selection of wine, and great service!  And the mussel appetizer was pretty darn good.  Definitely a great date spot :-)

Met a friend here after work -- as others have written, the vibe is incredibly sexy inside the restaurant. I almost felt weird being there with a friend and not a boyfriend! Outside on the patio it's a bit more casual. One glass of wine led to another, and we ended up ordering dinner. The halibut special was nice, but I could make a meal out of the truffle mac and cheese side. Delicious. Warning: This joint is not cheap. The two of us racked up a bill of over $120. Not what I'd planned. Next time, I'll have a glass with the mac and cheese and just enjoy the ambiance.

Great atmosphere, but I try to aim for happy hour. The wine prices get a little precious otherwise. The cheese plate was decent, but again, nothing to write home about. This place is mostly about the atmosphere--dark and sexy, complete with sofas.

Considering that Addison doesn't have a plethora of wine bars, we have made Mercy our go to stop when we want some good wine and a great patio atmosphere when the weather's nice.  I will say that happy hour makes this place much more affordable but even afterwards, there are still glasses for under $10.  I haven't sampled the food here yet but for after work wine time, it's a great choice.

Really?  THE STAFF WAS SO PRETENTIOUS; especially the so-called manager.  If you are not a cork-dork, you are totally looked down upon.  With a date and ordered 2 champagnes at the bar while waiting ... House champagne is $25/glass!  We are anything but cheap, however, this is Addison, not Lyon, France.  To Mercy:  Loosen up.  Get over yourselves.  Re-evaluate price to value.

Cute place, esp for a date - dark loungey atmosphere.
Food was decent, but wine selection was diverse, and service was a pleasure.

I went to Mercy last night with two girlfriends.  I'd been before for wine, but this was a first for dinner.  The first problem was when I pulled up to the valet stand and was told it was a $10 charge.  Really???   In Addison!  I bit the bullet and paid it as I was running late, but it got the evening off to a bad start.  They need to have a sign with the price so you don't get sucked in to this without knowing.  The valet actually said to me ( totally unsolicited) "Sorry about the charge.  I'm used to working at upscale places where valet parking is free".

Upon being seated, the waiter came by and asked if we needed any help with the wine list.  I asked him to tell me about the Italian reds by the glass.  His reply, " well, we have a lot of them.". Actually they don't have that many, but I knew he was out of his league.  I decided to order a Tempranillo as it was at least $5 less than any of the Italian wines and after my parking experience I was feeling a bit ticked off.  His reply, "do you mean the Spanish one?". As far as I could see, it was the only Tempranillo offered by the glass.  My friends had a similar experience experience when ordering their wine.

I ordered a mixed salad...$8 for some limp greens in a tasteless vinaigrette, and the roasted pepper flatbread.  It was supposed to be topped with arugula.  What they used were the micro green arugula leaves and there were literally about three little leaves on each soggy piece.  It was barely edible.

My "wine only" evenings at the bar have always been good here.  But, this is not a place I would recommend for dinner.  The bartenders have always  been knowledgable about the wines and eager to give recommendations.  But, based upon our waiter last night, I cannot say the same about the table service.  And the food was mediocre at best.

My advice...go here for wine and a nice ambiance at the bar.  Stay away if you are looking for a quality meal.  And watch out for the valet parking!

In the wise words of Uncle Jesse, "Have Mercccccy!"

If you're trying to wow your sweet-thang, this is a lovely and unpredictable place to start.  Yea, yea. I hear ya. But it's in Addison! *Gasp!* Make the drive out there, and I promise you'll be wooed by this spacious, yet surprisingly intimate wine bar. It practically oozes romance with it's white tablecloths, flickering candles, and if you're lucky: live music from local artists to set such a sexy vibe.

The wine selection is pretty extensive, as expected. I tried the Argentinian Felino Malbec. Delightfully smooth and full. For dinner, the ahi tuna made with sweet and spicy green peppercorn sauce filled me up and satisfied my tastebuds. Though bustling, it's somehow relaxed and quiet enough to unwind with a date or chat with the girls. We sat for hours, not looking at our watches, just soaking up the ambiance and good conversation.

The downside is parking. You would think that in a shopping plaza smack dab in Addison, this would be an easy feat. It's not. Expect a full lot in the evenings and even if you don't mind walking a bit, valet is the only practical choice. Not a good look.

Camped out and wandering around during the holidays, Mercy Wine Bar beckoned: it is, after all, tough to resist the siren call of thin light and a likely tall glass of red, some idle conversation bookended with perhaps an app, or more time to kill. The holidays at times remind us to shake things up a little bit.

At any rate, they were hopping on a Saturday night when my party perched at the end of the bar, and ordered up a pinot noir (and actually, come to think of it, a Saporro, so there's that): it was a little late at night, so we weren't up for a bite but the menu looked inviting enough that were I back I'd definitely give it a whirl. Service was attentive but not overly so. Mercy may not change your mind on all that's refined in the world, but all in all, I'd claim this spot a rather efficient opportunity to unwind.

Love isn't a strong enough word for how I feel about this place.  Great atmosphere, best Mac and cheese I have ever had and the Donati Claret is one of my favorites.  Cheese trays are fantastic as well.  The staff is very knowledgeable.  The red room upstairs is great for small gatherings with friends.

I just wanted to point out that this was my first time to hang out at this establishment on the 15th and I will be making this a regular hang out for my wife and I. As we sat at our table, our server Nathan was on top of everything. As a restaurant manager, I always listen intently to what the servers have to offer and Nathan was extremely impressive and knowledgable. First off, he introduced us to the difference between old world and new world style. After that, we had started talking about how we usually enjoy an Argentina Malbec but he introduced us to a French Malbec and it was delicious! In a nutshell, awesome experience. We will be back.

My mom was in town and with this being the first time I've seen her in 2012, we just wanted a quiet place we could catch up with a glass of wine and a light dinner. After a dismal experience trying to find somewhere without an hour or two wait on a Thursday night in the Preston Center area, we decided to head back up towards her hotel and cross over into no man's land - Addison. I actually really like Addison and love how many food options it has to offer, but I'm really bad at dealing with cigarette smoke and this is what Addison equates to for me due to the bars we usually eventually wander to after, so I don't go often. Plus I hate driving on 635. Ever.

A huge plus/surprise for me was that this one man guitar act named Josh Goode who plays the best covers of all kinds of songs (new and old) with his own unique twist was playing that night. I'd seen him play before at Sangria in uptown at Brunch and Friday night dinner, but the last time I tried to take my boyfriend there on a Friday they informed me he was no longer playing Fridays and I was veryyyy sad. Love seeing him play.

We were immediately seated at a quiet corner table. My mom is not really an easy customer to please so I always try and take the lead in hopes that the restaurant staff don't find us difficult. We were greeted right away and it seems as if they have a team wait mentality because multiple others asked if we had been taken care of, were available to take our wine order etc. Wonderful service. I had a glass of the Stonewood Pinot Noir (anytime a Pinot is described as heavily berry, that's my wine - this one definitely had a strawberry taste to it that I loved) and my mom had the Noble Vines 377 Cab. She took down the wine brand so I assume she liked it too. We are definitely not wine experts and both tend to buy bottles at home that fall within the $10-$20 range and just like what we like, with no rhyme or reason as to why.

One of the breads in the complimentary bread basket they start you off with is an olive bread that was heavenly. As an appetizer, we shared the tuna tartare. This was very reminiscent of an Ahi Tuna Tower you'd find at a sushi place down to the creamy coral colored sauce you find on many sushi rolls drizzled on top - minus the rice of course. I love ahi tuna in almost any shape or (raw) form, and this was really yum and did not disappoint. Large chunks of brightly colored tuna over firm yet smooth avocado served with toasted baguette slices. Would absolutely order this again and again. For the entrée we split the 6 oz. filet with sauteed asparagus. I always feel really bad splitting to begin with, but felt a little bitter due to at least ordering drinks and an app. There was a $2 split plate fee, BUT in this case so very worth it. My mother for some reason unbeknownst to me gets her steaks done medium well, while I am a strict medium rare possibly even erring on the side of rare. She tried to raise me on this medium well nonsense, but luckily adult me came to my senses. Anyways, my point being that they cooked each of our little 3 oz portions to our separate specifications as if we ordered two separate meals. Nice touch. The asparagus was well-seasoned and garlicky as well while remaining crisp.

The dreaded part of the evening I hate while dining with my mom. She is a pretty firm believer in approximately 18% tipping. Even with an only daughter/child who worked in restaurants for 6 years she can rarely be persuaded to jump that mark. I usually try and have cash on me to add a few extra dollars in just because it makes me so uncomfortable and I don't even hide it from her. Especially since we split a meal and had great service from the longer locked bearded gentleman that waited on us, but alas I didn't have any cash on me.

Overall, fantastic meal and cannot wait to take my boyfriend back there and tip more deservingly. Live music Thursdays through Sunday evenings as well, with the schedule of entertainment posted to the website. The music was a little loud for conversation but considering I am obsessed with the guy playing, I wasn't mad! They have $5 glasses of wine during happy hour as well (it said every day!), which I'd certainly be back for if I was in the area.

My wife and I wanted a Monday date night.  We decided that we wanted to try something new and found Mercy - completely by accident.

While the outside (and sign) of the restaurant is a bit confusing (the note about "shop" confused me.)  the inside is par excellence!  The music is just load enough that you don't hear your neighbors, and soft enough that you can talk in normal conversational tones (a delicate balance to be sure).  The red lights in the front may ... make an impression ... ?

The food was really good, while the calamari could have been better, it was still better than you get a Macaroni Grille, though the flavor of the breading was (for lack of a better word) 'strange'.  The cheese dish was by far the show stealer (though my advice is to take a pass on the olive cheese it was as close to tasteless as you can get)  We didn't see a live band (hey it was Monday) and we both commented that it would be the perfect place if they did have live music, I saw recently that they do have live bands so ... SWEET!

The wine selection could be a little broader, but they still have some good choices if you know what you are looking for (and take a little time).

Waitstaff - let me go on record as saying after I noticed that they put a water on the table before I even picked up the menu I thought to myself 'you guys are setting the bar pretty damned high.'  I am the kind of guy who drinks a lot of water and doesn't like to see an empty glass.  I appreciated the fact they they assumed I wanted water and just brought it out to me.  About half way through our night I noticed that my water glass hadn't hit half way ... WAY!  So I figure I am going to throw a test, not guzzling the water, but I drank it as fast as comfortable (while sipping wine of course)  It was full before I hit bottom ... Well done guys.  Very cool.

The atmosphere was romantic and cozy, with some jazz and Brazilian Bossa Nova (which I really like)  though Jazz is more of a New Orleans thing for me, I could have done without the TV, but I really appreciated the fact that the volume was off, and my wife 'strategically' placed my back to it.  Overall this place was exactly what I was looking for, a really nice place less than 20 minutes from the house.  We will be going back.

Not quite sure what to think of this one... I love wine, and well, wine loves me.  Not after 2 or 3 bottles the next morning, but the journey is fun, isn't it?

The atmosphere is a little odd in that there is a big mirrored back-bar with heavy woods, some stenciled faux-vine work in a kind of replica Italia feel, and then an upstairs area of private seating with a kind of club vibe with LED lighting and bottle-service like seating.  Its kind of like "Its a Small World" at Disney in that the theme changes several times.

So let's start with the likes-
Quality abundant on the menu, great selection of BTG and bottle options, and very, very competitive pricing.  I love the expanse of Krupp Brother's wines as they are a favorite of mine.  The bartender was helpful and friendly, and the bar top was well maintained and vast.  The stage is nice to bring in live music- always a nice addition to any evening.

    Not so likes-
As mentioned before, I love me some Krupp Brothers.  I love it even more when I'm choosing that wine... what I feel is the perfect bottle of wine for a perfect lady to end a great evening.  I don't like when I'm told that the bottle I've chosen isn't in house because someone forgot to order it.  Its kind of embarrassing to have to go back into the menu and find another bottle, plus it takes away from the time I could be spending with my date.
The back bar magnums and 3L formats in particular were covered in dust.  It was definitely thick and noticeable from the bar and gave the atmosphere the notion of being old and unkempt.
The third qualm... I felt a bit uncomfortable at the end of the evening as what appeared to be the owner or manager was seated at one end of the bar, then moved to the far side, and seemed to be agitated by our presence, or maybe just methodical, IDK.  Anytime I see a controlling entity for a location that is more concerned with their own drink, and then a fresh beer as we were about to leave, but never introduce themself to us or thank us for patronage, just makes me feel like a money $ign and not a guest.  Not sure why this was so off-putting, but it could have been that I was informed this was the person who was responsible for the Krupp Merlot not being available that evening.  Kind of a double slap in the face towards our experience.

Trick to really enjoying this place- have gorgeous company that shares wonderful conversation, and you'll be juuuuust fine.

Most of the reviews I read on YELP prior to my first visit here were spot on. We took the advice of one reviewer and asked for sofa seating at the perimeter of the stage, which was excellent and very relaxing.  As others have said, the place has a great cozy, romantic atmosphere.  Not being a wine expert, I appreciated our waiter (Nathan) who was very nice and down-to-earth. He took time explaining the menu, which is quite extensive.  Although sofa seating was popular and most everyone was "camped out" listening to the band, we did not feel rushed at all to leave once we had finished our wine (we did not dine).
The band was excellent, very blue-sy and jazzy...great for background music, and although we were seated very close to the band, we were still able to converse.
The crowd was more mature--I would say 40's+. I am assuming the younger crowd was at Sherlock's.

Amazing wine and the ambiance is so romantic! Staff makes you feel like you are a queen of some sort lol - that is how great the service is! Prefect place to relax after a hard day. A glass of perfect wine in one hand and holding the hand of your love in another :)

Happy Hour deals are pretty good as well - five dollars on select wines -

Ok so I want to update my review and tack on an extra star. Here's why:

I'm part of a book club where we meet at local restaurants to discuss the book we read for the month. This month we read Fifty Shades of Grey (haha yeah I know) and we try to choose a restaurant that somehow relates to the book. Obviously an S&M club would be out of the question, and finding somewhere with a "Red room of pain" was way too specific.

Instead we decided to zero in on Mr. Grey's love for wine so Mercy became the top choice, mostly because of its location and our past experience with them.

I contacted Mercy via email and received a friendly response within a day. They said we can reserve a semi private room for 10, order off the menu, and do separate checks, as long as we each spend $25. Ok, definitely not a problem there so we made the reservation.

I arrived about 15 minutes early. The hostess knew who I was as soon as I mentioned my name and party size and asked if I wanted to wait or if I wanted to be seated (the room was already ready). I decided to go ahead and sit down and she led me up a narrow staircase to--get this--a really cozy loft lit up with red lights. It was serendipitous!

That got the evening off to a great start. The hostess then said she would show the rest of my party upstairs as they arrived. Our server was Slaton and was very friendly and helpful in making food and wine suggestions. The service overall was great. Our water glasses stayed full, and Slaton checked in on us every so often to see if we needed anything so he wasn't too obtrusive. He was even nice enough to turn the music off in our section so we could hear each other talk.

The food was delicious--everyone loved their meal. I ordered the calamari (still as perfectly cooked as the last time) and the melted goat cheese and walnut salad, which was lightly dressed and wonderful.

Mercy not only met our expectations, they exceeded them in service, food, and atmosphere. I would highly recommend this place for any sized gathering, large or small.

$5 selected wines for HH. Got the red & yellow flat bread for appetizer, house salad and NY strip w/ truffle mac & cheese.
Red & Yellow flat bread - nice, crispy thin crust; too much cheese for my taste
House salad - average; fresh greens
NY strip - requested medium rare but came out medium
Truffle m&c - decent; you can actually taste the truffle oil; not too mushy
I just wish they have food items on HH menu but overall, a good experience - attentive service, environment with an upbeat vibe. I will definitely be back. The Good:  I usually have an exceptional experience here as everyone is very knowledgeable about the menu and the wines and the setting is perfect for date night.  The live Latin jazz or Flamenco music is a really nice and unique touch.  I hope they keep that going because I've heard some other places in the area that now opt for the typical casino lounge style bands used to be the same way.

The Bad:  I was there last Saturday night and I was somewhat surprised at how  lazed the service was.  It wasn't awful, but definitely not what I have come to expect at Mercy.  Also, we ordered the calamari - BIG MISTAKE.  It starts out really good, but you eventually realize why serving fried food in a bowl is a huge culinary no-no.  The bottom of the dish was filled with oil and the rings of calamari at the bottom were soaked in it...GROSS!  I will return to enjoy the wine, the food, the music, the company and the ambiance, but I will not order the calamari.

Came here with a groupon and it was good. We were about to sit inside, but there was a band playing and way too loud for my taste so I opted sitting outside.
Surprisingly good food, really liked my flat bread with olives, arugula, and peppers.
    Geoff's wines were good.
    Service was fine.
This was my hubby's thing so I probably won't be back.

I LOVE this place and everything about it!  Mercy is great for all occasions.  I've been here for date night, girls night, company happy hour, etc.  It's a great setting for any of the above.

Ambiance inside is lovely-- dimly lit with an assortment of seating arrangements.  You can sit at the bar or choose one of the high tables with stools nearby.  You can settle into a low, plush couch with a date for a more intimate feel (they even have sheer curtain partitions to divide those areas so you can have a little more privacy if you'd like).  Or you can sit in one of the regular dining tables!  Want more light?  There's two cute patios out front where you can sit, enjoy the outdoors, and watch people unsuccessfully park.

Service is always good.  Servers are knowledgeable, attentive, and always ready to give friendly recommendations. No wine snobs here.

I love coming during happy hour and trying a couple of different wines (only $5 a glass!).  Food is delicious. I've tried quite a few of the dishes here and have never been dissatisfied.  My favorite dish ever was a special of the day...some kind of pistachio crusted fish.  I wish it were a regular menu item!  Other items worth mentioning are the cheese plates, Red Pepper Bean Hummus Dip,  Pate Plate, and White Truffle Parmesan Pommes Frites.

It can get pricey pretty quickly without you even realizing it but it really is a nice place to unwind on a Friday night with a great glass of wine!

I've been to Mercy on several occasions now and have enjoyed my experience every time.  It's a great place to unwind with a nice glass of wine, and while I can't say the food is worth a trip alone, the full atmosphere is really something special and worth checking out.

The inside of Mercy is exactly what you want an upscale wine bar to look like.  The lights are dim, the finishes are elegant, and the decorative touches inside the space provide the perfect intimate setting.  There is seating at the bar as well as some high tops that over look the "stage" area.  If you're lucky enough to get there early or request them, there are cozy couches around the perimeter of the stage which would be perfect for a date night.  There are plenty of tables throughout the restaurant as well as seating upstairs.  They often have live music on the weekends which really adds to the entire experience.  It can get a bit loud during peak hours and the area itself is quite open, but it's certainly tolerable.  There is also a small patio outside for when the weather is nice.

    Service:
Service tends to be very hit and miss here, but it's almost always slow.  If you're planning on coming for a weekend happy hour, expect to wait a bit to find someone to place your order with.  Despite being slow, the servers are usually decently friendly and VERY knowledgeable.  They've always been able to provide good recommendations regarding wine and seem to have a good handle on the extensive wine list, which is a plus.

    Food:
The menu offers a fair number of options from dishes designed to share to more traditional entrees.  Everything we've tried thus far has been good though I can't say anything has really "stood out" or been drool-worthy.  We always seem to start with the Red Pepper Hummus which has good flavor without being too overpowering.  I do wish they'd serve it with softer pita bread - the toasted flatbread that it comes with doesn't seem to compliment the hummus very well.  The salads I've tried have all been fresh but the portions are fairly small.  The paninis that we've tried have all been very good, particularly the Grilled Cheese Apple Sandwich.  The entrees we've tried have all been good (again, small portions) and well-prepared, but there's nothing that is particularly unique.

Desserts are typically very good, though we were highly disappointed with the freezer-burned portion of red velvet cake we received on our last visit.  Our server was quick to offer us another selection with no problems.

The wine list (as you can expect) is huge and takes a while to get through.  It's organized by region which can be a little confusing at first, but the waitstaff is typically pretty good at helping you find something.  They do offer a few different sized pours which is great if you're wanting to try a few different wines without committing to a full glass.  They apparently offer flights as well, but I've never been offered one nor has the waitstaff ever suggested going that route.  One thing to note is that they do not offer a full bar so if you're looking for a cocktail you'll want to go elsewhere.

    Prices:
You can easily blow your budget here, especially if you're having several glasses of wine (prices are clearly marked but it does add up fast)!  I think the food is fairly reasonable and there are several options that fall in the $10-12 range.  My husband and I always end up spending much more than we anticipate, but for a nice evening out you can certainly do worse.

Overall, definitely a great place when you're looking for a great glass of wine and a relaxing atmosphere.

I usually try to avoid Addison, but I was told that it had a unique wine bar and restaurant, so I figure I would venture out to suburbia. You can tell when you walk in that this is a classy place and quite possibly a great date spot. Once you are in there are several seating areas. You can sit downstairs near the band or off to the side in a separate room which is where I sat and was a good location because you could hear the band and still talk. There were also some private rooms upstairs.

The wine list is extensive. I was able to have a glass of tempernillo and malbec. The glasses were about $10. I believe they are $5 during happy hour. The food was reasonably priced around $20. My friend and I enjoyed our dinner. We sat and listened to the music.

To sum it up, it is a great place for a date, live jazz, and wine.

I don't typically review the places I patronize, as I use Yelp for suggestions and reviews, but what I experienced today was an astounding level of pretense displayed by "Craig".

I was sitting next to a girl that shared with Craig she wasn't partial to the wine that she ordered and was excoriated as a result. Mind you, I may be a prick, but this girl was actually sweet and gracious about the whole thing.

Craig, you're in the hospitality industry, perhaps you should be a bit more hospitable. The pretense that seethed from you made it patently obvious how small you perceive yourself to be.

You work in a wine bar near Addison, not a vineyard in France. Get over yourself.

    Absolutely unacceptable.

Craig is a great sommelier (and master mixologist!) who knows his stuff. I hardly had to describe what I looked for in a wine and he brought me a great selection. Also, they have a Brazilian black beer called Xingu; you must try it!! It looks like guinness but it is very light.

Ambiance is fabulous... dimly lit, great music.. great spot for a romantic (not first) date.  Staff is friendly, inviting, and eager to find the perfect glass of wine for your taste. I highly recommend it.. one of the best wine spots I've been to in Dallas!

I've been to Mercy twice now... not on my own volition but meeting friends and Addison being a good halfway point. I was there last Wednesday again for that very reason.

I arrive early and wait for my group. I'm seated and brought the wine book and food menu. They have happy hour wines (about 5 white and 5 red that are $5)... none that are particularly notable or anything -- hello Rosemont -- but they're $5. No happy hour bites so I order an appetizer for us all to share. The spinach artichoke dip was tasty, creamy and came with great tasting croutons.

There are lots of candles everywhere, big purple velvet curtains, a serpentine banquette, and aggravating tall bar chairs that have really tacky metal backs (that a coat will not stay on to save it's life). Not exactly my style but the lights are dim enough it doesn't bother me the whole time.

Once everyone showed up we ordered dinner. One of us is vegan and the chef will make a custom dish for her, so she was happy. Two of the other girls who are more regulars split the apple and cheddar grilled cheese and I'm stuck on my own... so I order the tenderloin ciabatta sandwich with cheese with fries. Very tasty and really really not on my diet. Oh well, I had a long drive home from Addison so I might as well eat something substantial. After we ordered food, the waiter went MIA. Did not ask if we wanted another glass of wine when he saw we were empty... I mean, he was present and walking around us the whole time but pretty much completely ignored us. I nearly had to put out my foot to trip him to get him to bring us the check.

I did notice that besides tables of giggling girls like us, there were many many couples who looked like they were on a first date... so maybe that's a good niche that Mercy is filling in the Addison area. It's dark, sophisticated enough and busy enough to be a good first date place, I imagine. When I crave a wine bar, dated decor, sub par service and boring wine lists aren't what I want and not enough for me to drive 20 minutes from home. But meeting friends halfway? I'll do it again.

The once loud resident of Addison grows up and learns about wine!! That was my first thought as I walked into a smooth scene with equally smooth music. Granted I was already in a good mood because valet parking is worth it every time. The crowd was easy and having our pick of a table, bar or couch we opted for the couch of course. I'll be honest in saying I'm still learning about wine and I find it ridiculous when I see others pretending they know ALL about wine. The good thing about Mercy is the staff is very knowledgeable and make sure that you're satisfied with what you order. The best part about that is they don't make you feel ignorant for simply not knowing. I tried several white wines before deciding on what I liked, it made it difficult when sharing a bottle though.

The ambiance was great. I didn't have to scream so my guest could hear me; however it is very easy to listen in on others. I of course love to people watch and Mercy has just the right amount of lighting to watch and not be seen. Depending on your reason for going it isn't hard to know what part of the bar is suited for your reason for being there. Now there is an upstairs and I would assume it is for private parties and Mercy wouldn't be a bad place to have one. There really isn't a reason to go up there unless you want to feel like a VIP, which in that case knock yourself on the head and realize you're not that cool.

Mercy is great, and I have been several times each time spending my entire evening there. The live music shows that I have seen have been worth staying as well. They are not something that drives you out upset that you know you'll end up at Sherlocks or Logans.

If your going to take a trip to Addison this is an easy reason why, and if you see me there make sure you say hello!
