Went here some some colleagues on a work trip. Â They had been before and seemed to think this was place was the schiz'nit. Â Â I thought it was 'a ok'.
Appetizers ordered:
1) Â Calamari. Â No taste, didn't eat.
2) Â Chips and Hummus. Â One guy kept saying how awesome it was...I didn't think so
I had 'the Paris' turkey burger over lettuce with cheese and a fried egg. Â I actually thought this was damn tasty.
I would go back if others wanted, I'm just not shouting out about it.
Im giving this four stars because of my history with them, but right now I really want to give them three or less.
What I loved about Met was the veggie burger option, and the many ways I could get it including bunless on a bed of arugula. I went in a few days ago and they have done a way with the veggie burger. I was shocked! They have the falafel burger but its not the same. I think the taste of falafel will only go with so much, for instance I had it with tzatchiki sauce and hummus. I don't think a falafel burger will go well with BBQ sauce, onion strings and cheese. Just not the same.
AND THEN...the other thing I always ordered here was the brussell sprouts which are now gone as well! The server said I could order the sauté kale instead. I'm sorry but kale sautéed in garlic is not the same as brusell sprouts covered in butter and creamy cheese. Sigh.
Ive always had great service and food at any Met. But I wont be going back anymore until the bring the veggie burger back at least. My only other option is the Nature sandwich which is a healthy, veg option, but Ive now been recreating that at home for much cheaper, so why I would go there and pay for it.
Sad times! BRING BACK THE VEGGIE BURGER!!
I am not a fan in the least. Â Here are my issues:
1. This place does not appear clean. Twice when I arrived there was a notable amount of debris on the floor, the bar top was not wiped down and the bar area was a bit of a jumble.
2. Service is spotty at best. Waiters and bartenders disappear for long periods of time.
3. Their food is greasy with little flavor.
I would give this one a very wide berth.
OVERPRICED & HORRIBLE SERVICE!
I have been to Met Bar before, but the last 2 times have been awful! The chicken cutlet for my 2 year old son was RAW,and when I asked for a grilled piece of chicken instead, I got the cutlet again.
We were there yesterday for lunch and requested a booth (tons available). The hostess lead us to a regular table because her boss said so. We asked her to move us to a booth and she gave us attitude.
The server tried but management at Met Bar is lacking. I watched how the manager recruited ALL of the servers to set up 2 tables for a large party, while we waited for our server to appear. We never got water refills. I had to flag down a bus boy to ask for condiments!
I will never be eating there again!
Brunch...FAIL....
We've had decent burgers here, and they have an excellent eggplant sandwich. Â
Have been for brunch twice before with girlfriends, and both times very slow service etc but being with friends takes the "sting" out cause we're just chatting anyway. Â Not sure WHY I went back with hubby, having had some mediocre experiences. Â
Anyway, Â So first they only gave us one brunch menu, not a huge deal but why not just give two? Â Next our coffees came wtih skim milk! Â When I asked for some cream we were told they were out of both cream and whole milk and that someone was going out to get some. Â Hello??? This is brunch and there is a freaking Whole Foods across the way! Â Also, why not tell us instead of trying to just hope we don't say anything about the watery skim milk? Â
We did see someone coming back in with the supplies later, but our waitress did not offer to change out our coffees....
We each got a Met Scramble which comes in a big skillet. Â Skillets are usually not right? Â My husband's was ice cold, and we each received a cold dry biscuit as well, with no butter or jelly to speak of.
Our waitress was gone most of the time, and I was almost done by the time she came around and I had to ask for the thimble of orange juice that supposedly comes with the meal. Â
I knew we had sworn off of restaurants that "do brunch" for a reason! Â Waste of calories...
FA-AWFUL! I know this is not the best place to go when one isn't eating meat (lent) but my husband wanted a steak and I knew they had salads I could order sans meat. I was excited when I saw they offered a falafel burger. I ordered it Athens style (tsatziki, feta, tomato and lettuce). What I got was warm pureed chick peas with zero seasoning. Good falafel should be green from parsley and flavorful with cumin and garlic. This was bland. Good falafel should be crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside. This was wet and sloppy. The tsatziki was basically shredded cucumber with yogurt. No salt, no garlic and nastily chunky.
Our waitress was also friends with the next table and she spent all her time chatting with the couple's little boy. So much time that the manager cleared out table and offered us coffee.
The one is Natick is much better. I got the steak salad with goat cheese there and it was awesome. Better vibe too.
I have visited the Met Burger a few times in the past month. I was pleasantly surprised by the Gluten free menu. They have Gluten free bread and pasta. I was confused by the lack of Gluten free labels on the salads. I think they might of forgotten to label them because I can't imagine none of them are Gluten free. The Chicken Club Sandwich with some of the best Gluten free bread I have tried. I love the Met Fries, not a fan of the mayo truffle for dipping, since I don't care for mayo. I  was really disappointed they neglected to add Gluten free beer to the menu. When I have a burger or sandwich with Fries I want a beer to go alone with it. I would recommend making a reservation, even on weeknights the wait can be very long especially if you have a larger party. I have consistently been pleased with our service although the food seems to come out a  little slow, might want to order an appetizer to eat while to eat your meal. I would not recommend bringing young children to this restaurant, they will grow impatient.
Review Source:So-So. Went last Thursday for the first time. Got a table without waiting and the atmosphere is swanky and dimly lit. Looks like a good place for groups, although I heard it can get really loud when busy.
Ordered a side Caesar to split with a friend, Paris style vegetarian burger, & margarita. The salad was huge and could have been my whole meal. Lettuce was a bit wilted. The veggie burger was pretty gross, it fell apart and was kind of slimy. I'm not a picky eater, clearly I ate the whole thing, but I definitely wouldn't order it again. The fries were good though!
Bill for 3 people was about $80, we got 3 burgers, salads, and drinks. So for all you math challenged yelpers, about $33/person with tip. I would go there again if I had to, but I wouldn't go out of my way.
i'd always like this place for their burger customization..
perfect for people like me to add add and add. Â Just attended a friend's baby shower in their private room section. Â Pretty intimate with the fireplace nd space. Â It had a great menu selection...found out the restaurant was more then accommodating on functions than many other places. Â Whether for a function or a custom burger kinda day...definitely consider this place.
I walked into the MET expecting great things. Boy was I in for a ride. Â upon entering we were warmly greeted. Â AFTER the greeting, everything went downhill. I ordered their Chicken Milanese, Buffalo Shrimp and Met Fries. Â
Chicken Milanese - they should have called it, Fried chicken with a gallon of OIL. Â It lacked flavor and every bite felt like I drank more oil than anything. Â They should refine this dish and maybe use less oil in their cooking. OHH yes, and a little flavor in the food would have helped
Buffalo Shrimp - Was undercooked, and was a waste of money
Heineken - The highlight of the night. Â This was the BEST thing on the menu (according to me). Â Was thirst quenching and satisfying. Â I almost forgot the food was HORRIBLE!!! ..... ALMOST! :-)
MET Fries - I swear these were McDonald's nasty fried with Parmesan cheese grated on top. Â They weren't bad,
All in All, I'm going to go to MET one more time and order a burger.....If their burgers suck, then I'm going to CHIPOTLE
Don't write the MET off because of this review, I'm sure something on their menu is good....I THINK!!!!
OH YEA, Bring extra cash.....their menu is a tad bit pricey for the quality
Service was lacking. Waitress seemed rushed and never even told us her name; she didn't even seem to have time to speak in full sentences. I could only describe her as harsh. If it were a busy Friday night maybe we would understand, but the restaurant wasn't even full.
The food: I got the salmon burger, which was pretty dry and my multigrain bun was stale. The sweet potato fries were delicious. My husband got a burger with bacon and cheese. Â When he asked to have the bacon well done the waitress replied that it is pre-cooked so cannot be made well done. His burger was juicy, but the onion strings were a little tasteless, a far cry from the ones we had experienced when the restaurant first opened. The pickles tasted like the were soaked in old fish juice.
Normally I wouldn't even bother writing this, but it seems this place gets worse every time we go.
You get 3 stars. Â Preferably 2.5.
The burgers were outstanding and well priced -- nothing to shake a stick at. Â Our waitress was very forceful, however. Â She tried every trick in the book to make us spend more money than we wanted to (and she even succeeded, I'm embarrassed to say), which really isn't OK in my book. Â We were also placed at a really awkward table, and were denied when we tried to move. Â Probably because we weren't going to shell out more than 50$ for the whole meal.
I will be sticking with my never fail watering hole -- YARD HOUSE from now on! Â yum.
I was craving for the once juicy Paris burger I had about two months ago. Â So, after the Pats game, my boyfriend, daughter and I headed here. Â We got two Paris bugers with Kobe beef done medium with Met fries in place of the other sides, the taco appetizer, clam chowder, and a French onion soup.
Tacos- were very flavorful. Â The meat was nice and juicy. 4 Stars. Â
French Onion Soup- A tad salty. Â We have had better. Â 3 Stars.
Clam chowder- Â 4 Stars. Â Instead of having cubed potatoes in it, it had mashed potatoes in the center of the soup. Â It's not very creamy soup but I like this version of clam chowder.
Paris Burger- 1 star this time. Â
Met fries- 2 Stars. Â It was somewhat crunchy but cold. Â Tasted like it sat around for awhile. Â
Service- 3 Stars. Â Efficient enough. Â I don't like to write reviews on service unless it's a ritzy restaurant where the servers have to be extremely knowledgable of their menu. Â All i care about is having the food get to my table.
The reason for our visit there were the burgers. Â I was soo disappointed. Â It was a complete mess when it came to the table. Â The buns were hard, the onions and its juices were spilling out the side of the burger and onto the plate and fries, and worst of all, the burger wasn't juicy like I remembered it was. Â I don't think the chef even put the truffle mayo on the burger... I don't think it was even Kobe beef. Â It tasted old. Â The Paris burger was supposed to have brie, a fried egg, truffle mayo and caramelized onions. Â All I tasted was brie and the dry meat. Â
My boyfriend and daughter both agreed that it wasn't the same great tasting burger we had last. Â I ate my burger and left the hard lumps of bread. Â My boyfriend who often eats everything, bad or good, actually left most of his burger behind. Â The waitress checked how the meal was at the end of our meal and we told our waitress that the burgers weren't that great. Â She came back and took the French onion soup off the menu and said that The Chef told her that she should've checked on us about the food. Â She also mentioned how we didn't say anything during the meal. Â REALLY?!? Â She disappeared after we got our meal! We were in no way upset when we told her our burgers were tasteless. Â We didn't expect a "free" anything. Â But, that comment really killed it for me. Â Where was the manager?
I'd rather spend my money elsewhere where the food and service is consistent.
Admittedly after seeing only 2 stars for this place I was hesitant in going in, but glad it didn't stop me! I was craving a good burger. Had the Kobe Burger and it was delicious! Very lean and not greasy... does that make sense? Well I really enjoyed it and would be coming back here when in the mood for burgers again. The place had a nice decor. Feels like you're in the city with all those B&W pictures of city skyscrapers. See you again soon Met Bar as I just started my new job near Legacy place.
Review Source:Stopped in Met Bar and Grill after a movie at Showcase Cinema. We ordered a Kobe Cheeseburger and The Patriot club sandwich. Kobe Burger tasted like any sirloin burger but no seasoning and kind of flat. the cheese is 1.00 more for a Kobe price of 14.00 which is nickel and diming. Lemonade was also not refillable because it is prepared at the bar. The Patriot was good but it wasn't "I have to order again".
The Met Bar reminds me of a very expensive diner!
Sad to say, my first visit to MET Bar & Grill at Legacy Place in Dedham left my high expectations un-MET. Â Granted it was 9:30pm - but the doors were open for business - and 5 of us were searching for any food & drink we could get after a busy day of meetings.
We dropped a tidy bundle on high-priced burgers & pricey drinks, but we felt like we were imposing on their distracted staff - getting very minimal level of service. If the MET is going to position the fare at this higher end, then the customer service that comes with it better be stellar. Â
I don't usually complain, but I did write a note to let management know so they could attend to the experience gap - giving my full name, address & phone number.  I got this response, "First and foremost I want to apologize for the experience you had while dining with us. If I could please get your phone number so I can hear more about your experience would be greatly appreciated. I pride myself on exceptional service and  feedback like yours, though unfortunate only help us to improve. I do look forward to hearing from you soon.  Sincerely, Jeromy Morse, General Manager." Â
Of course, I'd included my phone number with my initial email. Â Hmm. Â Apparently exceptional customer service doesn't include paying attention to customer input very carefully. Â Or was that just a canned auto-response? Â
Needless to say, the experience was blah ... and follow up unimpressive. Â I really had high hopes for MET when it came to Dedham, but if this is the best they can do, they better do a quick huddle to rethink the customer experience. Â The website boasts, "beautiful surroundings featuring plush materials... rich, warm interior has urbane details including copper accents, dark wood, vibrant colors, sumptuous fabrics, embossed red alligator barstools and murals of world-class cities." Â Time to turn the focus from the fab furniture & decor - and work on delivering world class SERVICE.
Legacy Place is pretty crowded and not my cup of tea, but I love sandwiches and Met had a delicious Caprese sandwich that made me happy. PLUS I got a side of spinach that was deliciously garlicy AND I reheated the remaining half of my sandwich two days later and it was STILL delicious.
Wow, I used way to many caps in this review. My bad.
So i'm debating between a 3 and a 4 on this one, but gave it the 4. Â The restaurant is nice, almost has a steak house feel to it. Â The food, it was good, a nice variety on the menu from sandwiches and salads to full steak dinners and a build your own burger option. Â The food was good, nothing really to write home about, but certainly no complaints. Â Our Waitor however, totally bumped this wavering 3-4 into the 4. Â He worked with us (a table of 4 indecisive ladies), offered suggestions, attentive, nice, funny and all around the perfect addition to the restaurant.
Francis - you were great and totally saved the day for Met Bar.
What a disappointment
The only reason it gets 2 stars instead of one was due to the Appetizer... but everything else brings it down.
I went with high expectations. I like steak. I like good food. Should be a good place. reasonable upscale, a little high on price but not bad, and seemingly a good reputation
what a letdown!
We had reservations. So why did we have to wait 40 minutes for a table. I understand, restaurants can get busy, but really... it was a weeknight, and we could SEE empty tables
finally got our table
waiter basically ignored us all night, but when he did pay attention
App : home made guacamole with chips. good, definitely fresh. small serving for the $$, but good
meal : Â potatoes. chunky and not mashed enough. too much butter. Â broccoli soggy and soft. and the filet minion medium rare I ordered - HAH!
was more like a hockey puck, poor meat, poorly cooked. wow. it sucked
Had a martini. grey goose, dirty, three olives. I am not sure if they actually put any vodka in it or not
had dessert, and then asked what they had for whiskey. waiter didn't know. ok. he checked. listed of three scotches (why do people, that work in bars, this that whiskey, scott and bourbon are all the EXACT same things. they are not)
I asked if he had Tullamore Dew 12 year, Bushmills 16 or Jamisons 18 yo. he asked , and said they had tullamore dew
so I got one , neat, and almost choked on it.
I asked what it was, and to see the manager. apparently the bartender poured jack daniels cause " its about the same thing"
W O W
asked for the check and left. it was embarrassing.
I wrote a letter of complaint, and they replied by saying they would "look into it"
hah, what a joke. plenty of other good places to eat at legacy Place if you are there. Legal C, Yard House and Fire Kissed are all MUCH better options. hell, au bon pain would have been a better option
Came in with a group of 12 the day before Thanksgiving at around 8PM. Â Shockingly it wasn't as busy as I thought it would be. Â However, our party did make reservations in advance so were seated very quickly.
We started off with 2 bottles of wine and stocked up on some apps. Â Fried calamari (2), tuna&salmon tartare (2), parmesan garlic fries (2) and buffalo shrimp (2). Â The apps were the right size for sharing and were delicious. Â But we didn't exceptionally like the calamari. Â It tasted like standard frozen rubbery calamari. Â We as a group wasn't impressed by them at all. Â However, we did enjoy the garlic fries and the tuna/salmon tartare with taro chips. Â Great flavor and starters.
As for entrees, they had a wide selection of burgers, meats, and seafood. Â My friend and I decided to get the "hollywood style" cowboy ribeye for 2 with country style potatoes. Before I get into the taste of the steak, I would like to say that the steak knives that they had was dull and in NO WAY could cut into a 32 oz. of any meat. Â We had to send it back into the kitchen and ask the chief to slice it for us. Â And now with the taste. The ribeye looked good but it wasn't as flavorful we had in mind. Â It needed more seasonings and also to be dipped in their house sauce. Â I truly believe that a GOOD steak does not need any sauce. Â Sauce usually just mask the problem. Â We had asked it to be med-rare but the meat in the middle was like rare blue. Â I might of needed another minute on the grill. Â
A friend of mine got the fish and chips and the plate was piled high of fish and fries. Â A plate full of grease and fat all around. Â I asked him if it was good and his response is..."it tastes like I am eating solid oil". Â He didn't care for it much but it wasn't in his manner to tell the waitress too. Â
The friend sitting onto my right got the yellow fin tuna with wasabi pea crust on a bed of sticky rice. Â The tuna was awesome but the sticky rice was okay. Â The rice was crunchy and hard but she really enjoyed her fish.
Overall, we had a great time and the service was great. Â SOrry that I can't say the same for the food. Â We will try to get back here and give it another shot on entrees. Â But as for now, we will try to forget what we had.
All was good for me. Â Had a build your own burger.. my mom opted for the Turkey Burger on wheat bread, and I had the Kobe Burger on white... it was delightful - Â cooked perfectly and served with lightly salted shoestring fries. Â
I also had the Freshly made Raspberry, Lime, Rickey with Chambord and Vodka. Â This also was delish.
The Arnold Palmer my mother had was rather drap/sweet maybe too much lemonade.
But other than that everything was very good. Â
The folks at the table next to us were not happy with their meal, however the manager came straight over offered a new meal with "extras" Â and he was more than pleased. Â There are rare instances where issues may occur but in this one.. they seamed to handle them very well.
Would go again and definately recommend.
Vodka lunch! And, the food was fantastic, including the fresh cut sweet potato fries, asian chicken "taco" app and a special lobster roll. Brioche bun was best I've ever had - and that's saying something. Also, every dish that passed us on the patio looked great. Our super personable and funny server was also fantastic - he even lured us into a special vodka drink at lunch. He had me at muddled raspberries and fresh lime juice. Huge menu, will return to try it again.
I didn't notice the prices being off the chart - do people just not understand that you have to pay for quality? Go to a 99 if you want cheap. Ugh.
Yes, it's expensive. Â But it's delicious, they use incredible ingredients. Â The burgers are delicious. Â You have a million options- probably wouldn't hurt to look at the menu prior to going in- when you're hungry, it can be overwhelming. Â I love their own beef mix, although I'm sure the more expensive kobe-style beef is good too. Â And someday, I will order that kobe hot dog. Â
The fries are delicious and whatever you do, order a side of truffle aioli to dip them in. Â HEAVEN. No, seriously. Â
Although they have a terrific looking menu of non-burger items, the only things other than those wonderful burgers I've tried are:
The arugula salad which is simply wonderful. Â Super fresh arugula, romano shavings and just ever-so-lightly/perfect dressed. Â Oh, and then there's the crispy-crusted MELTY GOAT CHEESE PATTY it's served with that makes your knees weak, EVEN WHILE SITTING DOWN. Â The large is freaking HUGE. Â We are big eaters and split it and it was almost too much. Â (Except for the MELTY GOAT CHEESE, but I digress).
The house-made hummus with harissa and pine nuts with toasted pita is light and delicious. Â It's also a nice-sized portion and that harissa adds a whole other wonderful dimension.
The sweet potato "planks" (not to be confused with planking upon sweet potatoes), which were also quite good. Â Especially if you like sweet potatoes.
Good beer/drink selection. Â We watched a poor bartender wrestle several fresh, whole papayas for one of their concoctions. Â My husband ordered a mojito after it was recommended by the other bartender (it was her first night and she was terrific- she knew her stuff). Â The mojito was truly refreshing and fresh.
Staff is really friendly and accommodating but don't hover.
Tasty burger and fries but really expensive. I went with 2 friends of mine and we all ordered different burgers. I had the Tokyo, cooked medium, with a mixed beef pattie which was cooked just right and was very tasty and juicy, fries were nice and crunchy too.
The only problem we had was when a friend of mine wanted no cheese on his Texas burger but wanted to substitute it for garlic dressing. The waiter said you couldn't substitute it and he would have to charge for the dressing. Â Weird, since you're not really losing money with a substitution.
The waiter was friendly though and helped us with deciphering the burger menu. Overall, I might go once or twice a year for a burger but I think I've had better and cheaper burgers elsewhere.
Great looking space, decent food, and on this visit, contrary to the other reviews on here, the service was mostly okay.
We arrived with a large group of 14 and had the private room in back all to ourselves. As an aside- this room would be a great place for a dinner as there is a fireplace at one end of the space and a large table in the center of the room.
We arrived on time for our reservation and the appetizers that were pre ordered came up right away. The appetizers were good- calamari, artichoke pizza, fork fresh guacamole, and huge mozzarella sticks. Large portions too.
Next up we ordered our entrees. The menu has a pretty wide selection of salads, sandwiches, burgers, steaks and entrees. i had the special of the day which was a lobster roll (quite good) and the other winners at the table seemed to be the beef tips, the skirt steak and the fish and chips. If you get a chance- check out The Met fries- golden brown, sprinkled with Parmesan cheese and served with truffled mayo-tasty!
The drinks were well poured and came up much more quickly than did the food. I think there are some timing issues in the kitchen as our server was doing her best- but there were long delays in how the food came up from the kitchen. At one point- only half the people at the table had their food.
As for the location- there is nothing special about a restaurant in a mall. And while the patio is nice- the view is of the parking lot so nothing great there either- which is why I was surprised the contemporary seating indoors was empty but the patio was packed.
Go for the food, as the service is just okay and there really isn't a view . . . unless parking lots are your thing.
It's all been said. Great food, and really rude and slow service.
It's the kind of place that is always so busy that they don't have to care if their servers are nice, or efficient. They don't care if you come back because if you don't, enough other people will. I will add that while not friendly, their servers are pretty much all beautiful.
The food, as I said, is really good but it's not all that original. In my opinion, you can get food like this at many other places, and have a better experience.
If you do go here though, a few things I can recommed: the salmon & tuna tartar combo, the Greek salad, and the fries. Obviously, they're known for their burgers which are quite good. They have all sorts of fancy things to top them with like fried egg, avocado and exotic cheeses. I've only had a burger there once and I just had mine topped with cheddar cheese and a little ketchup. I feel too many toppings mask the taste of the burger.
So, if you're in the area because you've been shopping or at the movies, it's a solid option for decent food, but I wouldn't go out of your way to go there.
I have only been to this location once (though I will definitely be back). Â In the past I have always gone to the location in Natick.
In any case I think they are both similar. Â My favorite food on the menu is the arugula salad with goat cheese!! Â Oh my it is so tasty.
I have eaten the tuna tarter before and am not really a fan. Â I also wasn't feeling 100% that night so maybe that is why.
They have a good selection of beer/wine and I have never really had to wait long for a table.
The hummus appetizer is also really good. Â Wasn't fussed on the veggie burger, but all the other regular burgers are amazing!!
The food is very consistent!!
Just came out of the Met Bar and Grill for lunch... and it was totally not what I expected. Â The place was pretty empty yet it took our food over 1/2 hour to come out. Â Our lunch break was only an hour long and by the time the food came out we had to hork down our foods. Â It's not pleasant trying to eat fast when all this time we were just sitting there waiting. Â I dont understand how it can take so long.
My friend ordered the Sirloin Steak with potatoes - shouldn't take long to make. Â I can get one done in 15mins. Â I ordered a Pasta dish, baked shrimp with jumbo elbows.. They ended up bringing me a mac and cheese dish with tiny shrimp and small elbows to match with spinach. Â I feel like I can do a better job at home. Â If you come to the Met Bar & Grill, you're expecting to get something for what you're paying for. Â This is totally the opposite. Â I've been to the ones at Natick, cant remember the experience exactly but I was sure it was better than this one. Â I order a burger (not sure which) and fries. Â I've come to conclude that the only thing good about this place are their burgers and fries. Â Everything else, down the drain. Â
I probably wont be coming here again.
The atmosphere - very pretentious. The prices - ridiculous. The service very shoddy. The workers- clueless and unorganized.
This was such a God awful experience. My boyfriend and I Â left after getting our drinks. We couldn't handle enough bull to get through past drinks.
The details:
We arrived at the restaurant. The dimwit hostess does not greet us with a smile or at all for that matter (fine) just stares at us (awkward) kinda like "what do you want" look (rude). Finally my boyfriend says "for two". Dimwit says it will be about 20 mintues. We say fine. We are waiting and waiting, meanwhile there is this empty table near the front so we were able to see it. After about 15 minutes we ask about that table to Dimwit and she says we can sit there if we want to (wtf?!) So we go and sit there, while Dimwit gives us menus. Thank god that was the end of Dimwit.
One waitress comes right away and asks what we want for drinks... no hi no introducation nothing. We just sat down so we told her that we need just a couple more minutes. After a minute or so we both decided on our drinks. We are waiting and waiting and waiting and waiting. After about ten minutes of waiting. A totally different waitress comes to our table to take our drink orders. After placing our drinks order with that waitress another waitress came and asked us if we wanted to order drinks. (what a sh*t show!)
At this point we were pretty ticked since we had been in that restaurant for a half an hour and had not even received our drinks yets. Nor did we even know who our actually waitress was. I was pretty much done with this place after all of that. I was ready to walk out!! Yeah! It was that bad.
After waiting for so long we finally got our drinks; immediately I told the waitress that we want our bill. The waitress seemed pissed at that. Â And of course, it took forever and a day for our bill. She just threw it on the table and sulked off.
In total, we were there for 45 minutes and all we got was crappy service and two drinks and empty stomachs.
Geez, I don't think I ask much. I don't expect to get treated like HRH. But a little common curtesy goes a long way.
I can't speak much about the food, seeing as I didn't make it to that point. But this has literally been one of the worst dining experiences I've had in my whole life. I would rather eat my own arm than come back here.
The Met born in Chestnut hill, now in Dedham and Natick. Â The Met is a lively, comfortable and funky place. Â The vibe is worth five stars
They also have an interesting menu with all different types of cuisine seemingly from everywhere and a seperate burger menu with veggie, salmon, turkey, beef, Â kobe beef and tons of different ingredients. Â A gourmet burger joint is inspired, because everyone loves a burger. Â Yet nobody serves more than basic fair
I am not a burger guy so I order the salmon on a plank, because it was healthy. Â My girl had the Paella..The other couple had burgers. Â My salmon was undercooked, and the Paella was strangely inedible...yet the burgers drew rave reviews.
Now I like to eat healthy, but I was starving...so we ordered the chocolate peanut butter cake and the sundae, both did excel
Conclusion: Â Great place for a drink and a burger. Â You are on your own with the rest
The Met is a chain restaurant conveniently nestled in a few nice shopping locales. I've been to the one at the Natick Collection around 3 times and the one at Dedham's Legacy Place now twice.
I hate to give this place a so so review because I have eaten here quite often and I do keep going back. Shopping builds up an appetite!
The poor review is for the inconsistency of the experience here, especially in Dedham. I pretty much always get a burger. I think the burger selection here is quite good. Their burger menu has an international section: the Tokyo burger, the Mexico City, the Paris burger etc etc. and also a Continental section: The Fenway, the DC burger etc.
Both times at the Dedham location I ordered the Paris. The first time, because it sounded SO GOOD. Brie, truffle mayo, carmelized onions, fried egg.... MMMMMMMMMMM! I ordered it, and I inhaled it. It was perfect. The burger was cooked just as I had asked, the yolk on the egg was runny, and despite all the messy ingredients, I could pick it up and eat it with my hands because it was assembled carefully! SO good.
Last night I went to meet up with a friend and I didn't hesitate: Paris Burger please! But alas, it came and it was sad and pathetic. The egg was cooked too long and the yolk was hard, eew. The onions were ALL OVER THE PLACE making it very messy! Who did they think could eat it that way? Â
The meat was overcooked and dry, and unfortunately, the whole thing was just carelessly slapped together! As a result, the bun was so soggy, that on first attempt to lift it, my hands were a gooey mess. I couldn't eat this without using a knife and fork to pick through to the edible parts. I was so dissapointed. This burger I payed a large amount of hard earned money for, sat staring at me in defiance, daring me to eat it. It knew I was hungry, and it knew it was wrong. Oh and it came with a side of cold stale fries. Knife throught the heart!
A word of caution, Met bar and grill is expensive for the poor quality they can randomly throw at you. The service here though, is pretty good, and the atmosphere is nice in the bar area and the dining room. Â
The message of the day though: the food quality: COMPLETELY UNPREDICTABLE. Dedham's Legacy Place has a lot of restaurants to choose from, Met is sort of like a game of Russian Roulette, depending on who they have way back in that kitchen. You can take your chances, but do you have to?
I've been to the original Metropolitan Club (on Rte 9 in Chestnut Hill) a few times, so I was excited to try this one out.
My husband & I were with 2 friends and looking for dinner Saturday night at @ 8p.m. Who knew Legacy Place was so happening!?? We got a buzzer at the Met Bar & Grill for our 1.5-hour wait. After visiting every place in Legacy Place, only to find 1-2 hour waits, we went back to the Met to wait inside where it was warm.
Luckily, our savvy husbands found a booth at the bar that had full waiter service! Score. It was quite loud, but only because of the patrons - no loud music like you often find in restaurants. If they could fix the acoustics issue, that would be awesome.
My husband & I weren't too hungry, so we ended up splitting a regular burger with pepper jack cheese & caramelized onions. And fries, of course. When the burger arrived, it was TEENY. Good thing neither of us was too hungry. We had been to the original for their Monday night mini burgers and I think they were this size... Um, I paid for a real burger, not a mini!
Overall, it was a good burger, although the pepper jack had no kick I could taste and the bun was already on, so I couldn't put on ketchup. The fries were good, although they tasted like McDonald's fries. Not what I expect at a quality restaurant.
My friend got the MET Caprese Sandwich (Tomato / Mozzarella / Fried Eggplant / Pesto / Arugula on Focaccia Bread) which was DELICIOUS. I kept stealing bites from her! Her husband got the Brick Chicken "Never Never" - what's with that name?? (Bell & Evans Chicken / Brie Creamed Spinach / Apple Cider Glaze): I tried a bite and it was good, but lacked flavor in my opinion. He seemed to really enjoy it.
Overall, I was disappointed. It was loud; not overly expensive, but not worth the price we paid; and crowded. I will not be back to this location.
I don't know if the Natick Collection or Newbury Street locations (so didn't know there was one there until we walked past it yesterday!) are better, but I'd be open to trying them, as long as they are better than the one in Legacy Place.
Legacy Place in Dedham hosts the Met Bar and grill and is one of the anchor restaurants there. Weeknights and weekend evenings the place is busy with most of their patrons sitting in the small dining area. The bar is a good place to hang out with a few friends and they have TV's to catch the game.
The Met is basically a good place to hang out but do not eat there and expect to walk away feeling that it was a good value for the money for the quality of food there.
The menu is large but seventy five percent of it is burger selections. I spend this past Sunday there waiting for a friend and wanted a small snack while having a drink. I ordered the Crispy Steak snacks which I envisioned would be....well steak! Wello well that's not what was placed in front of me. What I got was three huge deep fried greasy egg roll type things the size of your basic hotdog roll. Cutting inside revealed a mash of cheese and what I think was suppose to be steak and chopped mushrooms but after tasting it I could not tell. My advice...avoid the Crispy Steak snacks you will be disappointed. There are just awful.
As far as the burgers go they are ok...it's a burger for fourteen dollars and nothing rave about.
The bartenders are nice and actually do a pretty good job on busy evenings and the waitstaff were pretty good as well. You know if your in the Legacy Place mall and want a bar to hang out to meet people than this is a good spot.
The Phantom Gourmet, of all things, sparked a spontaneous Sunday adventure to the Legacy Place in Dedham. The spot on Phantom made the Met burger bar seem like a local equivalent of heaven and we were craving burgers, so, you know, off we went!
The burger bar is small but staffed with one person. She wandered away halfway through our meal and we were done and ready to get to our movie playing 20 minutes later. My turkey burger was good but was missing all of the toppings I ordered. The side salad I had instead of fries was wilted and dressing-less.
This ended up being a big old meh. Disappointing especially since it was pretty empty on a Sunday. The service and attention to detail should have been WAY better. Not only that, I found the burgers to be completely overpriced.
I really enjoyed my meal at Met for several reasons:
** Really great homemade root beer. Not too overpowering, smooth and delicious
** Best homemade veggieburger I have EVER had. I have my fair share of veggieburgers in my day and this was the best. Thick, full of veggies I could identify and perfectly seasoned. I strongly recommend this even if you are a meat eater,. Really great.
** Best homemade pickles. Really great flavor and great accent to the delicious burger
** The build your own burger is a great idea. Choose every aspect of the design of your burger: bun type, cheese, burger type, fixings, condiment's etc. Really fun process. The only dilemma is that the cost of burger can really add up. I had a veggieburger on wheat with avocado, cheese, onion and tomato and it was nearly 13.00!!!!
** Great decor. I loved the way the place flowed, very comfortable and a fun place to bring a group of people.
** Service was good. I was there in between lunch and dinner service, so there were not tons of people to attend to. I would like to go back and tackle more items on their menu!!!
I wanted to be a bigger fan of this place, but I just couldn't justify feeling as strongly as I wanted to feel.
The ambiance was very nice - rich wood bar, nice seating, good color scheme - but I didn't feel quite at home as I should've. Â The Kobe burger I ordered was very tasty and served with nice accompaniments, but another burger my party ordered came out with half the toppings (that we paid for) missing. Â The service was sporadic and unpolished to the point of being memorable.
I wouldn't advise people to avoid the place, since they do a nice high-quality burger from their Burger Bar, but if you're in Legacy Place, there are a lot of heavy hitters you could go to instead.
Sorry, Met Bar and Grill, you just couldn't put it all together for me.
