well that was a little too hippie for me.

2nd waitress brings wrong order, adding "one of your biscuit halves slipped off the plate so we're making you a new one."
"thanks, I ordered salad instead of potatoes"
"oh, it's not on the ticket. what kind of dressing did you want?"
"she never asked me, what kind do you have?"
"blah blah 3 kinds of dressing with exotic names that disguise what's in them"
" um.. I don't really, I can't really tell from the descriptions. Do you have one isn't sweet?"
"I don't understand, none of them are sweet"

By this time she is exasperated with me, barks "just a minute and walks off"

    blink blink

She returns a few minutes later, again barking,"so what dressing do you want?"
"I guess the tahini. are you remaking the eggs?"
"no we're just putting the salad in the plate."
"I'm concerned they will be cold by the time they get back here."
"They shouldn't be cold. I spent most of the time TALKING TO YOU"

blink. um. wow. so now my wrong order with half a biscuit an cold eggs is MY FAULT because I didn't know what dressing I wanted?

    oh man

no tip for you silly pierced and tattooed hipster with no discernible manners.

also, as a bonus, flies, that one has to spend time waving off the food.

Brunch is my jam. Come on, is there anything better than a big ole breakfast after a night of drinking or, like, watching movies and crying in bed? (My life tends toward the latter, these days.) My ideal breakfast includes some combination of potatoes, gravy, hot sauce, and tofu/tempeh/other soy protein. And oh gosh, Morning Glory is basically perfection.

Everything's vegetarian, and most menu items are available vegan. I love when there are enough menu options for me to have a hard time deciding what to order. I settled on the Happy Morning Sandwich, mostly because it featured a lot of the various components of Morning Glory's breakfast options, and I wanted to try them all. The breakfast was a split biscuit, with soy sausage, tofu sour cream, spinach, and tomato and one half, and a glorious tofu patty (that's the name, and it is indeed glorious) and the same accoutrement on the other half. It was served with a pile of potatoes smothered in gravy. Oooh.

It was amazing. I loved the tofu patty, which was different than any way I've had tofu in the past. It was totally amazing--well seasoned, and the texture was perfect. Something wasn't quite right for me with the soysage, but I wasn't sure if it was the biscuit or the soysage itself. it was still good, but I always save my favorite part of a meal for the end, and I definitely chose to eat the soysage biscuit first. I do think my vegan drop biscuits are fluffier and tastier than those at Morning Glory, but maybe I'm just tooting my own horn. The potatoes were crispy, but not too, and the gravy was really yummy. The portions are huge. I can eat, and I had to grab a to-go box for about half of my breakfast. On my second visit, I had the Fusion--tofu and veggies cooked in curry spices and then folded into a hashbrown shell. It usually comes with tofu sour cream on top, but I asked for gravy instead. Maybe it was my ill-advised sub, but I didn't 100 percent love this dish. It was fine, and I love the novelty of a hashbrown-shell vegan omelet, but the spices and the gravy were a weird combination and I wasn't really feeling it. My second visit was also the first time I noticed the vaginal-themed artwork lining the walls. I am totally cool with the vag, but it's a little much when you're taking down a hearty breakfast. (Also, one is totally menstruating.) My boyfriend perhaps illuminated the weirdness best--what if a restaurant featured dick artwork? That would be totally fucked. How about some pretty landscapes or cartoony paintings of panda bears, etc.?

My one complaint is a little bit of menu inconsistency. The savory breakfast options are all supposed to come with your choice of bread and butter/olive oil/Earth Balance, but neither my friend nor I were given bread. We perhaps could have just asked, but I wasn't sure if my breakfast sandwich was supposed to come with additional bread and I'm a little shy (eeep!), so I didn't bother.

I also had a mug of coffee. I love that they have soy creamer available on the condiment counter. Though the menu lists a price for coffee refills, we were given free top offs by our friendly server.

In addition to the regular menu of savory and sweet breakfast options, as well as sandwiches and salads, they also have plenty of specials of the vegetarian and vegan variety that sound great. Coconut waffles. Hazelnut french toast. Savory crepes. My Yelp comrades in PDX might be pleased to hear that they also offer a vegan Caesar. A bakery case at the front of the restaurant has all manner of vegan treats--scones, cookies, muffins, etc. Oh golly! The dining area is really cute, and Morning Glory is such a wonderful, cozy, inviting spot for a tasty meal. I'll be back many times, I'm sure.

I would love to eat here... but the wait staff wasn't very good.  They seated us right next to the door, because there wasn't anything opening up.  Within 2 minutes of sitting down we were freezing from the constant door opening and tired of looking at open tables (2 had opened in that time).  We asked to move, and since other people had been put on the list while we were seated, we were pushed to the bottom of the list.  We decided to leave.

Why couldn't we have the open tables?  because they were for four people, and we were only two.  I get that... so it doesn't make sense that you have 2 more tables with one person at each that can only seat 4 according to your standards?

I'd love to try it out, but the service needs work.  I'd hate to see what would happen if we actually stayed for food.

Very good vegan food in a cute little part of town right by the train depot. We were just driving through and had lunch at one of the outdoor tables so our dog could join us. I had a breakfast sandwich made with a vegan biscuit (very good!), tofu patty, spinach, and tomato plus the most amazing sliced potatoes with vegan gravy. My boyfriend had a french toast sandwich and the potatoes as well. We both had a bottle of kumbucha. Prices were very reasonable, service was fast, clean bathroom, nice location... a great experience overall.

So if you decide to go to the MGC you have to choose: Do you want flies with that? Because that's what you're going to get. I am not a germphobe, but flies ankle-deep in biscuits and gravy is a definite turnoff.

This place is pretentious and hipper-than-thou, for sure. The food is OK but not extraordinary; I can't even remember what I had, even though it was just a few days ago. My daughter had biscuits and gravy, and it looked a bit shiny (did they use corn starch?), although she liked it.

The service is dismissive and snotty: no smiles, no refills, no thank yous.

As I walked out I had the strong feeling I needed to take a shower. This is a dirty joint, and I'm guessing the kitchen would turn my stomach: if they don't have a solution for flies in the public area, I can only imagine what insects are doing in the back.

Current favorite breakfast place in Eugene!

There must be a minimum number of piercings and tattoos to even apply to work there, and as they roll out the organic-vegan options of the day you may have an image of skinny, pasty white customers picking at tofu.  You'd be wrong!  Morning Glory has tasty, hearty food (my current craving is the chiliquiles, which were ridiculously good and completely filling).  Super nice people work there and the food and coffee is great.

Gotta love these unique, local spots.

What can I say about the service here? I mean, totally nuts. Seven of us walk in and are told we 'll have to wait, which I get being that the place is full. Eventually, we decide to split our group in half and ask if we can take two tables, which they tell us is fine. Then we wait ten minutes for menus. No one tells us water is self serve and on the other side of the restaurant (What kind of wacky place makes you pour your own water?). I'm not real sure who my waitress actually is among all these young women. And, to top it off, there's that uppity liberal vibe just permeating the place. I don't know what to make of it. The service isn't bad, but it's not good either.

If you're wondering about the food, it's all vegan except for a few choice items like eggs and butter. I'm a flat out carnivore and typically hate this type of grub, but Morning Glory isn't clueless and everything they make is spot on. I won't hold it against them that my food was a little cold seeing as to how there was seven of us, I'll chalk this up as the exception to the rule.

If you're gunning for a new diet, or you're a weirdo herbivore, it's definetely worth checking out. Good coffee and a relaxed atmosphere give this restaurant a very coffee shop-ish vibe.

I just hope the owners fix the service, it's a blemish on an otherwise fantastic little joint.

The chocolate waffles were delicious, but there were sooo many of them.  A terrible complaint, too much of a really good thing. ;)
The tea was really strong and almost overran the taste of my food.
Next time I'd do a 1/2 order of something sweet with a 1/2 order of something savory.

    Morning, Glorious.

After a trip to the Saturday Farmers Market, we made moves over to this spot to use the CPU and grab somethin small to eat.  We made the right choice!

Spelt flour pancakes and finally, finally a good cup of coffee! Service was good, place was clean, and the prices were right!

It may sound crazy, but my favorite thing about this spot was the bathroom! The chalkboard on the door in there is an excellent idea and ya best believe i wrote a little suntin on it!

I look forward to kickin it at this spot on another glorious morning!

I took my mom and family to breakfast here for mothers day (more like brunch.) The place sure does have people of different backgrounds, I loved it!!! The customer service was great!! The food was awesome, the Vegan French Toast absolutely delicious!!! So are the non-vegan French toast. Their sandwiches are very good too!! FYI if your not a vegan food type person and you love your meat, this isn't the place for you I learned that with my little brother and sis. In law. Their not Vegan or Veggeterian at all, so they didn't enjoy the place. But I did!!! :D lol

Morning Glory is breakfast for us folks who can't stand traditional American-diner-breakfast, or for anybody who likes wholesome and delicious food.  The menu is vegetarian with plenty of vegan options.

Food:   Anything with the glory-herbed potatoes is recommended.   My favorite is the Three Sisters, which features plenty of those potatoes with veggies (I know this sounds bland but their spicing is key) and a choice of 4 gravies--my favorite is the mushroom.   They have monthly specials which seem always to include a variation of waffles.  The waffles have been vegan the last couple of times I visited.

Bread:  Is worth it's own little section, because they bake it themselves and it's so damn delicious.  A couple pieces come with your breakfast, but I always find myself wishing they'd brought out a whole loaf.   I don't think there is bread anywhere near this good at any other breakfast place in Eugene.

Setting:  Just in the last couple of weeks, Morning Glory did a 'remodel' which wasn't too radical, adding a couple of tables in the front, a new coat of paint, moving a few things around.   They seem to have enough seating to accommodate demand--I've never had to wait a long time for a table.   Local artwork for sale on the wall--as with any establishment that does this, the quality is variable.  It's a nice place to eat.

Service:  I'm a rather straight-edge looking white guy and I've never received rude or disdainful service from the bohemians who work at and patronize Morning Glory.   I never understand why certain businesses in Eugene tend to attract this criticism.  Perhaps because my soul isn't straight-edge, I'm not driven to paranoia when surrounded by people who don't look like me.

Bottom line:  Escape the tyranny of the egg and get a nice vegan breakfast at Morning Glory.  Or, if eggs somehow don't make you barf, you can order those, too.  No bacon and no sticky containers of maple syrup, but definitely worth a shot no matter who you are.

Morning glory cafe is a sweet little  vegetarian and vegan restaurant at the north end of Willamette street. I like it. I like the whole hippie atmosphere, the customers, the cute art, the dishes, all of it. I miss it since moving to Portland.

That said, this is not a good place for carnivores. My husband is not a fan, at least not on mornings he wants Bacon. But on waffle mornings, this is the place to be. Vegan biscuits and gravy, yum! We like the potatoes, and all the tofu things, and my pickypants father in law loves all the vegan choices like the omelet made of potatoes with no eggs. There eggs are good, though, if you eat eggs. All PC in that Eugene, nah, Oregon, way. My kid is happy with a pancake or french toast, and they have a grilled cheese if you have a kid with issues. ( somedays all kids have issues, right?)

It gets crowded, but the beauty is they serve breakfast all day so you can eat your eggs later in the morning with maybe less of a crowd depending on when you go.

Park down the block and walk a bit, enjoy the sunshine... er, fresh air.

We are new to Eugene and didn't know what to expect from Morning Glory, so we tried it. Probably will be the last time we do. I think it was apparent that we weren't "true" vegans or vegetarians, just trying out the place, and the waitress treated us like we spit in her makeup-free, cruelty-free, and expression-free face. When we asked for a refill of coffee (feel like we shouldn't have to ask, but whatever...) she literally held up her finger and without a smile said "in a minute". Pretty rude, I thought. Also, no one came by to ask how our food was (definitely bland, but what do expect when it's vegan? Also, my tofu "sour cream" tasted like soap). It seemed like the waitresses only gave good service and smiled to the regulars... Because of the rudeness and severe "holier than thou" attitudes from the waitresses, we won't be going back. The coffee wasn't that good either.

One of my new faves in town.
First off... I am NOT a vegetarian. But I can appreciate the culinary genre as a choice and a style of food.
I have to say that the first time I went it was lunch time and I had a very hard time selecting my dish of choice. Everything on the menu looked great. I am used to looking over a menu and trying to find something that looks appealing and isn't deep fried.
I chose the Blue Moon and ordered a small side salad to boot. The allure of their peanut cilantro dressing was just too much to ignore. It was so good I had to ask fi they sell it in a bottle. Sadly they do not. A shame. They should think about doing so. Better than Yumm! sauce any day if you know I mean.
The Blue Moon was fantastic and my companion had the Toasty Cheese and Pesto, also fantastic.
I have been back three times in the past week and each time has been as good if not better.
From the hottie hipster chicks and daily baked goods to the serve yourself coffee bar and delectable dishes, I highly recommend this funky spot in the heart of downtown Eugene. There is great people watching too. Both inside and outside.

One more thing. I LOVE the "No Phone Zone" more places should consider this.

I just moved from Brooklyn to attend UO. I am in a bit of shock and have heard lots of terrible stereotypes about Eugene. Nonetheless, here I am. I might sound like a somewhat reluctant newcomer and I might be, a bit, but I am happy to find that there are some good eats in Eugene. Morning Glory has a delicious and interesting menu. The food is fresh tasting and generous in portion. The service is nice but they do leave you to enjoy your food and conversation. I like the outdoor seating on lovely days.
My mom also loves this place and she is somewhat uncomfortable with vegan dining. We love the tea too!

Okay, let's rattle off a couple of things to the credit of MGC:
    - The staff is incredibly friendly, attractive, and oddly dressed.
    - Nothing beats grabbing a sidewalk table on a sunny, breezy day.
    - Best place to chow down and play with the dogs ambling by.

    And, now, the food:

I used to be a vegetarian - for 21 years - and then I quit. The allure of bacon and perfectly seasoned roasted chicken was just too much. Since quitting my herbivorous ways, I've looked at vegan and vegetarian food through a different lens. I'm more critical. I find myself searching for flavor. So, I was a bit skeptical but hopeful for MGC...

Unfortunately, as cute and friendly as MGC is, it falls into this trap of Health Food - No Flavor. I ordered the chilaquiles (with eggs) and there was, sadly, no flavor. I added some of the hot sauce from the table and it kicked it up a bit. But, no matter how much salt, pepper, or hot sauce I added, it didn't take away from the fact that there were no notes of flavor to the dish. Maybe adding some garlic? Where was the onion flavor? Maybe some adobo spice? But, no. It was bland.

The coffee, on the other hand, is tops. Loved it.

Go here for a relaxed Sunday afternoon. Order some coffee. Maybe some toast. But don't expect to be blown away by the main dishes.

Eh- it was pretty good.  I have been eating at a lot of veg restaurants lately and I wouldn't go out of my way to get back to this one.  That being said, everything was fresh and well presented.  The service was attentive.  But the biscuits were a little dry and I was not a big fan of the mushroom gravy.  Just my personal opinion I suppose.  for some reason it had lots of onions and dill in it and it was very brown.  I thought it would be closer to a white gravy.  Also, I was not really into the citrus tahini dressing I got with the salad.  It was kind of lumpy or something.
The best thing I had was the vegan blueberry muffin that I took to go.
I think that if I had ordered differently I might have enjoyed it more- maybe the waffles or something.  I am sure I will try it again sometime.  Maybe.

TJ says: The Nook!! That's the rating Charlie and I give every breakfast joint we love, and return to as a traditional breakfast outing together. Personally, I love the spelt at Morning Glory, and the nutritional yeast sauce. The mushroom gravy is also pretty enjoyable, since we love the spelt we get that with the gravy, rather than the traditional biscuits. Paying for parking at a nook is no good though, so we've figured out a few spots within a few blocks of walking. Though if you go on Sunday you can use a nearby street metered spot. What did I miss, Charlie?

Charlie says:  Morning Glory has a wide selection of hot beverages and gluten free baked goods.  The highlight, however, is the vegan breakfast menu.  The dishes involve fresh local ingredients.  I agree with TJ that the spelt is delicious.  They also offer a variety of other breads including banana.  I would have to say that Morning Glory is the best vegan breakfast nook that I have ever come across.  Also, the mural on the side of the building is really nice.

Yelped a vegan breakfast place on our drive from Corvallis home to Oakland the other day. Found Morning Glory and was intrigued.
+1 star for such an awesome and thoughtful vegan menu. I love the creativity.
Overall the food was pretty dang good and it is in a cute little building next to the train station so that is fun.
I had the Happy Morning Sandwich, which I loved. It was huge! The mushroom gravy was so good and I liked digging into my 'sandwich' with knife and fork. Washed down with fresh squeezed grapefruit juice.
My boyfriend had the Three Sisters. It looked wonderful but he wasn't super impressed. I was too stuffed to try it.
Good food, cute place, nice location, friendly staff. Thanks again!

The employees are very cheerful and can answer all kinds of fun questions about their offerings. I liiiike.

I was very tempted by the vegan biscuits and gravy (mostly because of the term "tantric mushroom gravy"), but I settled on the Eggs Benedict. The soysage patties, the spinach, the tomato, the poached eggs, and the hollandaise sauce were all perfect and delicious and filling. The glory fries were a little bit burned, but not badly enough to be skipped.

To drink I had the hot cocoa with rice milk. It was super tasty, but I probably should have gone for a smaller serving. It was rich!

My dining partner had the hot cocoa and some granola (or something like that) with hemp milk, and learned that he really doesn't enjoy hemp milk. Would have enjoyed it all otherwise, though.

Amusing moment was when the cashier gave me a $5 with my change and then immediately asked another employee for some $5s because they were low. I wanted to tip them anyway, so I gave him back the $5 and asked for some $1s instead. (I know one $5 isn't enough, but if I was low and was hoping for a tip I'd probably automatically give out $1 bills instead of $5s anyway.)

Good experience... but somehow it wasn't quite as fantastic as all the other healthy vegan/vegetarian/organic spots I've been to in Oregon.

FYI: The crazy looking Victorian house across the train tracks is the Shelton McMurphey Johnson House. It's a museum so they give tours and host some events.

I have been here twice now and will be back. Vegetarian restaurant with everything able to be vegan automatically earns you points in my book.
The space is comfy and laid back, can be a little loud on Sundays.

I most recently had the breakfast sandwich with a tofu and soy-sausage patty. Served on a homemade biscuit with tomatoes and tofu cream cheese. It was great! Served with homefries on the side. Somehow I didn't notice that would come served with gravy-the only downside to my meal. It was gelatinous and bland and alllll over my lovely potatoes. I noticed other customers scraping it off as well.
Overall, good food and service and great vegan options!

I wanted to leave Eugene on a happy note.  That usually means good food and a full belly.

Morning Glory serves up veggie breakfast fare.  I had the vegan pancake, a full plate size of--if I remember correctly--a coconut, banana concoction topped with real maple syrup.  It was delicious.

I couldn't leave without tasting the biscuit and gravy that everyone so raves about.  But I found it completely underwhelming.  They weren't even warm to begin with.

Based on others reviews, I worried about the service lacking, but found the staff to be alert and friendly at 8 am.

Eugene's a beautiful lil college town that I'd love to visit again.  I wouldn't hesitate to return next time I'm in the area.  After all, there's still plenty more on the menu I have to try.

I guess I should preface this with my relationship to this establishment.  Over 10 years ago I use to work at Morning Glory and was actually the first employee of the bakery that turned into the restaurant.  So I know what the place was in its "glory".

Morning Glory was once known for their pastries and now they hardly have any and the times I have tried, they are dried out.  How could you mess that up!?  So sad.

The food itself is okay.  There are times I get a menu item and I remember the old times.  The Fusion is a great dish with the distinct potato shell as a vegan omelet, but the tumeric is really heavy in the seasonings.  The dill roll is how I remember it luckily, since I use to stop what I was doing to appreciate the smell the kneading dough would omit.  I ordered a side biscuit with some gravy and I almost laughed when I saw the biscuit.  It was very flat and square.  Fortunately the gravy was almost as good as I remember it.  The luna sandwich, which was always a satisfying winner, has a lot to be desired these days.

Seems like a lot of the foods have a hint of what made this café so popular, but over time, they lost the magic.  I think most people will leave this place mostly happy, they are only experiencing a small portion of what it used to be.

    Morning Glory is Eugene.

Everything I love about this town can be summarized with a visit to this earth friendly breakfast joint next to the train station. Affable and smiling people, tasty dishes, loads of bike parking and an over abundance of hippie/yokel charm.

Seating out front is quite nice as the sun shines down on you in the morning and you can read while sipping your coffee and waiting for your food to arrive.

I know talking about the hot sauce instead of the food is weird, but it's really good!  I'm sure they just transfer it from a larger bottle, but whatever it is, I want some for home consumption. Slosh some on your biscuits and gravy, it won't disappoint.

Don't bring your friends who can't appreciate different. This place is not your usual greasy meat and eggs breakfast. Lots of veggies, lots of unusual grains, all very tasty.

$7 for a full order of biscuits and gravy and a cup of coffee. 3 stars instead of 4 just because I don't like paying more than 5 dollars for an order of biscuits and gravy.

Just got back from yet another successful trip to morning glory. They have so much super flavorful food, but I almost always get the same thing: the fusion, which is a shredded potato shell around tofu chunks, onions, etc in an indescribably delicious sauce. This place isn't for everybody though. While we were there today, a woman was very displeased with the breakfast she got, having probably expected more mainstream fare. I figure that when you go out to a quirky place like this you should buy the ticket and take the ride. You can decide later if the place is for you when you figure out what it's all about.

Morning Glory is a great Eugene place serving great Eugene veggie food with spiced fusion flavor. It's my favorite breakfast stop in town.

You can often find free parking in the Oregon Electric Station lot next door as they don't open till after breakfast.

I've been here a few times for breakfast and have always enjoyed the food. .
Today I stopped by for lunch for my first time and got the cajun tempeh sandwhich. YUM! they put homemade aioli, iceburg lettuce, two thick slices of tomatoes, grilled onions, two cucumbers, and a thick piece of spicy tempeh in between two thick pieces of bread. I had to take off the cucumbers and iceburg lettuce because there was no way I could have fit that sandwich in my mouth. The plate also came with a small serving of field greens, shredded carrots, and cucumbers. The sandwich did get messy, so I ended up having to use a fork and knife half way in.

Huge portions and a semi-lengthy wait time, but usually worth it.

Vegetarian biscuits and gravy to warm the hearts and bellies of even the most grizzled meat-eaters in your vicinity - hell yes! So delicious, I constantly forget the name of the restaurant, referring to it only as "that biscuit and gravy place by the train tracks." I'm sure the other stuff was good too, because I have nothing but fond memories of this place, but seriously - biscuits and gravy. Do it. DO IT.

Also: if you're departing from this fine city by choo-choo, be sure to grab some pain au chocolat from Morning Glory for the "road". When you see the prices on the disgusting tripe they serve on the dining car, they will be glad you did. Very, VERY glad.

    Date Visited: Friday 8/29/08 (Lunch)
Driving on our way to Ashland, OR, I was able to check out vegetarian restaurants on an iPhone and saw that this place had some nice reviews and didn't seem hard to get to.

I've never been to Eugene, but from the guy at the post office (right by the restaurant) to our servers at the restaurant, I would have to say it's a pretty friendly place.  The restaurant is located just by the train station, off of Willamette St.  The painting on the sign let me know we had reached the restaurant before I had even seen the name.

I had read about the no cell phone guideline, so I checked my message just outside the door of the restaurant and then went in after listening to it.  The artwork tickled me as I had something pictures from Sweet Pea, which were similar.  We sat at a table and ordered.  I had the waffles with fruit while my companion had the biscuits and gravy.

Both dishes were very good.  My waffles had blueberries, bananas, apples, and strawberries.  There was a side of butter and organic maple syrup, which were perfect for me.  Portion-wise, the meal was more than enough for me and I had to keep from buttering all the waffles because I knew my vegan companion would probably end up eating a decent portion of what I couldn't finish.  I only had one bite of the biscuits and gravy, but it was quite good and if I ever go through this town again, I will 1) visit Morning Glory again and 2) have something with the mushroom gravy because I dislike mushrooms, but it was really tasty.

Kudos to this restaurant, even if no one yelled at the lady who took TWO cell phone calls in the 5-10 minutes I was paying attention to anyone else in the restaurant!

Definitely a good place for vegans.  We go here whenever a particular vegan friend visits from out of town and it amazes her each time we go.

Now me, I'm no vegan, but I looooove Little Bear's vegan omelette.  Veggies and herbs inside a crispy potato shell with tofu "sour cream" on top.  I always get the raisin walnut bread.

The help is nice, although apparently if you ignore the million signs saying the joint is "cell phone free", they can get a little bitchy.  Personally, I've never had a problem and rather enjoy spending my first waking hours without having to listen to someone yap on the phone.

Leading up to brunch at Morning Glory I had

    a) Woken up at 4am on two hours of sleep
    b) Boarded a plane for Portland at 7
    c) Driven two hours from Portland to Eugene

I wasn't sure a vegan restaurant would be the right choice given my cranky-sleepy state. I could feel the "give me meat" voices speaking up, but my gracious host thought this would be a good place to give me that distinct Eugene flavor. And besides, she was driving.

I ordered up biscuits and gravy with what I could only describe as a mushrooms gone mad. A thick, hot scoop of mushroom gravy completely coated the two biscuits. The unmistakable meaty scent of thyme wafted up from my plate. Sometimes all you need is a warm helping of gravy to put a smile on your face.

If that wasn't enough, Lauri suggested we split an order of their special blueberry/marionberry waffle (no doubt fresh-picked). I gave in and drizzled real maple syrup over the waffle and berries, satisfying my insatiable desire for sweet breakfast foods.

Food is great, location good for a meal while downtown, but the service is slllloooooowwwwww.
I realize that they are making my pancakes in the back with some wholesome ingredients, but I can't help but wonder why it took an hour when there were only 6 people in the whole place?
I was going to eat before catching the train, but had to finally grab it 2 minutes before the train left in a to go container.
Just have a snack before you go, and you'll be good.

I'd always gone out of my way to support Morning Glory - it seemed like such a tranquil, quintessentially Eugene place.

That all changed one morning when my phone buzzed (I keep it on vibrate mode) and the woman behind the counter began to shout at me the moment I answered.  I told her I'd be just a moment and was telling the caller I'd have to call back when the Morning Glory person, face twisted with hatred, put her hands on me and began physically pushing me towards the door.  I swear I am not making this up.

I normally respect the no-phones thing in establishments that have such a policy, and readily admit that I had overlooked the small sign on the door, but I thought the reaction was totally overblown, even in Eugene.  The lady didn't rough me up, exactly - but you know, it feels terrible to be treated like that, especially in front of a roomful of people.

If you are into hating on people who make minor mistakes, this might be an ideal spot for you.  If on the other hand you believe that cruelty to other humans is pretty hypocritical behavior for an organic, free-trade coffee place, you might wanna stay clear...especially if you're expecting a call.

    Whew!  Too much coffee, ma'am.

Great coffee & food, cozy space, and awesome support for all kinds of local activities. I beileve this is where they used to hold the youth poetry read... awesome! Tons of delicious vegan/vegetarian selections.

This cafe was also generous enough to donate their space when a friend threw a benefit show so I could get my broken tooth fixed. Such nice people!!

Just don't go if you're on a tight schedule... short lunch breaks are right out, as the service can be a bit sluggish depending on the time and day.
