I've always liked this bar. In fact, it is my favorite bar second only to the Horsehead. I like that it has a very diverse music scene and it doesn't charge a cover. Just so people understand, a suggested donation is NOT a cover and you don't have to pay it. Not to mention, they only ask for a donation when they are hosting out of town bands. Â I also like that it is not a douchy college meat market.
The place is tastefully decorated, which is important to me. I also like that it is underground in the basement. Makes it feel kinda secret, like the mobster days.
The hidden gem of this place, (beside the "Moll" drink) is their FOOD. I am always reppin' the food. I mean, everything on their menu is delicious and hella cheap (a free range chicken panini with salad greens is only $7.00!) Their mac and cheese is hands down the best in Eugene. And I highly suggest the calamari. If you don't like calamari b/c you've only gotten it chewy, then set aside your discriminations and try it! Â It's not that deep fried shit you get at most places (what a waste of good seafood) rather, it is sauteed in olive oil, garlic, capers and tomatoes. It melts in your mouth. Oh, and their pizza is nom nom nom. Another important aspect of the food is that is consistent.
