If you like to wait over an hour to never have your food arrive, go a head and order from them. Taco veloz down the street is much faster. I wish I could give 0 stars

Okay, so I ordered a sausage breakfast burrito, a chicken quesadilla and a steak taco. Don't judge me; there's a $10 minimum for delivery.

The breakfast burrito was almost excellent. According to their menu on http://Delivery.com, the breakfast burrito is a "flour tortilla filled with eggs, choice of sausage, chorizo, bacon or ham and choice of mozzarella, American or cheddar cheese." What there isn't a mention of is the potatoes that the thing comes stuffed with. That's a big no-no in my book but is only a 1/2 star reduction. Other than that no complaints on the burrito. Though I do reserve the right to edit this review the next time I order one, without the potatoes of coarse.

The chick in the chicken quesadilla was tasty, that's a fact. However, the quesadilla is more like a very cheesy taco. If you read the menu, the description for a regular burrito says that they are "stuffed with beans, lettuce, tomato, cheese and sour cream." The description for their tortas says that the beans, lettuce, tomato, cheese and sour cream are all on the inside. For the quesadilla, the menu simply says they are "served with lettuce, tomato and sour cream." To be honest I took served with to not mean stuffed with. Quesadillas made like this really aren't my thing so I doubt I'd order another one but if you like, or do not mind, all of the accoutrements then this may be just right for you. Given that the chicken was mighty tasty and this really boils down to a misunderstanding of the menu, I only docked them another 1/2 star.

You'll notice that I deducted three stars from Mr Taco's Restaurant yet the deductions for the first two items only adds up to a one star deduction, which means I took an entire two stars off for the third and final item; the steak taco. Not to be too disparaging but I have had better tasting tacos from street vendors in Tijuana. I would never order a steak anything from Mr Taco's Restaurant. Ever. I am serious, you've been warned. I grew up on Carne Asada burritos, tacos, quesadillas, fries and everything else in between. Never have I ever had a steak taco that tasted that bad. I all fairness, it could just be the batch of steak that Mr Taco's Restaurant got from their supplier but I'm not willing to subject my taste buds or my stomach to another steak anything from here to find out, which is why I deducted two whole stars for one single menu item.

The food at Mr. Taco is extremely delicious overall! The chorizo tacos are my favorite, although the chicken is really tasty as well. The quesadillas aren't the best, but I think there is something for everyone. So, even if you don't love mexican food, you will probably find something tasty enough here.

The reason I rated this place 3 stars is because I have gotten my order wrong probably two or three times so far, and I started going to Mr. Taco fairly recently. The first time the mess up cost me around $3 since they charge for extras. The second time I was given lettuce and tomatoes instead of cilantro and onions (sort of eww but not really a bit deal). Another time I was missing an item when I ordered a delivery.

Really delicious, but they should be a little more worried about getting their orders right. I can't imagine this won't happen next time I get Mr. Taco's. Unfortunately, the food is too good to pass up!

$3 Tuesday burritos is just an incredible deal. We had a fantastic al pastor and a pretty solid chicken torta. Service is a bit slow, but the restaurant is clean, so that makes the restaurant stand out next to its peers. Really, though, the burrito was excellent.

Great variety. Place is decorated sparsely, but the food is really good. Every taco we had was unique and different and very tasty. Reasonably priced.

Solid Mexican delivery. I have never been to this business, I will probably never set foot inside this business, but when you and your friend are staying in on a Friday night and craving tacos, you will not be disappointed by ordering from here.

My favorite ended up being the pork (aka Al Pastor), but the steak was a close second. The chicken was shredded and ended up kinda a mushy blob in the middle of my tortilla--not great. I didn't have the balls to try the tongue taco, but my friend says they're good...if you're the adventurous sort, go for it. Ground beef will dredge up grade school taco day images, red grease running down your elbows to boot.

There are two salsas--the red is hot, smoky perfection that leaves just a bit of a burn on the tongue. The green is a standard, cooling salsa verde. Your call, but obviously nothing complements meat quite like smoky spice.

Guacamole is good--chunky, cilantro-y, tomato-y. Put it on everything.

Just ditch the styrofoam and I'd be a happier eco-customer.

This place is quickly becoming my go-to Mexican restaurant in the area. $3 burritos Tuesdays and Thursdays are the best! Good service and very clean inside. It's nice that you can dine and not walk out smelling like a taco which is one of my pet peeves when eating in at some of the other Mexican restaurants nearby.

Food would have been descent until I saw them recycling chips and salsa. As the waitress cleared the tables(plates, and cups) She took the Salsa dishes, and chip basket behind the counter. Once it was time to pay, I kindly asked "you guys dont throw away the chips, or salsa"? She looked at me and said "no why, the salsa dishes have spoons in them" ???WTF thats even more gross! I can just imagine how many half eaten chips, and saliva particles in the salsa are leftover to be recycled and consumed by paying customers...

the gorditas are very good. we got a variety of them our 1st time ordering. the potato and cheese one was the bomb (how could it not be??) the al pastor was very sweet at times, sweeter than any i had ever had, but balanced out by all of the cilantro and onions.

delivery was quick on a friday night.

Fairly solid Mexican food. I've never dined in, but walked past numerous times, and it looks cute inside. Their delivery (to my place at least) has always been sooner than estimated. In fact tonight, I was told an hour. He was at my door with the chow in 15 minutes. Crazy fast.

I always get the Taco Chile Relleno. I get my Chile Relleno fix, without committing to a whole dinner. Are theirs the best ever? Not really. They taste like they're made in advance, which might be efficient for them, but it's not proper preparation. Their Poblanos have never been blindingly spicy, which makes me happy. Their Enchiladas are quite good as well. They don't offer combos, but I ask for cheese and ground beef, and they always accommodate. Their Mole Sauce is excellent, although the portions inconsistent. Last time they were kind of stingy so it all soaked into the tortillas. This time, it was swimming in the sauce. A lime Jarritos to wash it down, and I'm a happy gal.

Oh, and I also like that they seem to make an effort with presentation. They use nice carryout containers and the food is not just thrown in there. I've stopped eating at places that just carelessly slop the food in a styrofoam container which results in a mess of beans, rice, and entree. It's disgusting.

Definitely recommended. Will eventually try other menu options.

I stopped in and saw that the specialty here is a Gordita's . I had them and asked for Mole on it. Delicious! This place doesn't look like much, but the food here is really good. BYOB and a nice atmosphere. It is clean and a friendly staff. I was very surprised by the quality of the food. This is a regular stop now.

Initially we were impressed by the cheap, quick, decent Mexican classics. The quality has taken a serious nosedive over the last few months.

First, they stopped using fresh avocados in the guacamole and switched to frozen pulp, which gives it an unappealing texture. Now, the quality of the meat has gone way downhill, everything is twice as greasy as it used to be, and dishes are coming out of the kitchen burnt. The horchata isn't as good as it used to be either: it's sweeter with less cinnamon flavor.

My boyfriend and I tried this restaurant for the first time last night. Glad we took our chances as it was the best taco restaurant we have tried in a LONG time. The dishes were very reasonably-priced and the taco meat (steak and pastor) were not overly greasy nor salty.

Moreover, the food did not bother my stomach the following day! The waitress was very kind and courteous and the place was clean. I recommened this restaurant and rest assured, we will be going back there!

Good prices, SUPER fast delivery (seriously... is this place a kitchen on wheels?!) and good food. I'm not happy with all the styrofoam containers but I definitely like their food.

Their mole enchiladas put me on a cloud far above the Chicago stratosphere.

Decent, cheap and easy Mexican that delivers. They got here faster than the delivery time, their delivery minimum is lower than most places and the food was pretty good. Nothing special, but if you're in the mood for divey Mexican and feeling lazy, this is a good place to call. I got a lot of food for what I paid, and my enchiladas were pretty tasty. I'll definitely be trying this place again, yum!

Great for Breakfast, really nice Green sauce. Also have had lunch there, not bad. But really I was impressed with the Breakfast. The outside is deceiving. Inside is quite nice and I like the unique decoration inside, looks modern compared to majority. I recommend if in the area.

Looking for some Mexican food for delivery and found this place on Grub Hub.

The prices were super reasonable and the portions were a good size. The delivery time wasn't bad, either. The food was tasty (steak burrito, rice, beans) and pretty much what you would expect from a good fast Mexican restaurant.

I would order again if I was in the mood.

This was my first time in this restaurant and I was pleasantly surprised. The food was very tasty and fresh, reasonably priced, and the service was fantastic. I was there at about 1:00pm and the place was about 60% full so I can't comment on the service with a full joint, but everything was great!

I just moved to the Ukrainian Village and I LOVE this place! I love that it's close to me. I love the gorditas and I love that they deliver!

Will be back for more!

On a cold night a few weeks ago, a friend and I pulled up Mr. Taco on Grub Hub.

Three stars for food quality, the fourth for quick delivery and portion size.

Were I walking down Chicago Avenue, I would not stop in. In fact, last time I was walking down Chicago Avenue, I brisked by in favor of Tecalitlan, which has a nicer dining room.

But, this is likely one of my new go-to places for delivery.

The food is average. Average Mexican tacos, burritos, tostadas, etc. But the reason I really like this place...The main reason is because of the interior. I love the way this place looks. It's so fun, airy, colorful, and bright. I would come here before I went to another Mexican joint just because of the way it looks. The food is the same as any other place in the 'hood.

Not bad. Steak tacos were okay. But disappointed that they were "Americanized"...i.e., lettuce and tomato vs. the onion, cilantro and lime I've come to love from good (or bad) Mexican joints. Orchata was awesome and the delivery time was muy rapido (fast).

Minimum order amount though is deadly. $12 worth of Mexican food is a LOT to force one person to order. I couldn't eat half my food and wasted it. And when all said and done with tax, tip, delivery charge...it was $20 to eat 3 tacos. I'll say this about all restaurants that deliver...either you have a minimum order OR a delivery fee...NOT BOTH. That alone tends to prevent me from reordering from places.

So, Mr. Taco's Restaurant, though good, might not get another order from me just for the double-dipping. Lo siento.

There are SO many crummy Mexican restaurants in Chicago. This isn't one of them. The meat was fantastic. I had the picadillo burrto, and my girlfriend had chorizo y papa gordita and a carne asada taco. This is one of the few restaurants that actually trims the fat off of their carne asada. I really enjoyed what they had and they were reasonably priced.

And the place is very clean. I think I've found my new Mexican restaurant.

There aren't too many Mexican delivery places. Well, now that I searched for it specifically, there are more than I expected. So this is the first place I really got delivery from a taqueria. The delivery was quick and they provided plenty of hot sauce, napkins, and all that small stuff. It was just for me so the delivery minimum is kind of inconvenient, but at least theirs is lower than other places; $12 instead of $15. I just ended ordering a couple of extra things which I'll keep for lunch tomorrow.

So I had a tostada and a burrito. Both were pretty good. I would recommend it if you don't want to leave your place some evening. The ingredients could have been a little more fresh. Overall, I enjoyed the food and I would order delivery from them again.

This place sucks big time.
Their lengua tacos are horrible. Lengua's supposed to be tender, but here it was chopped into little pieces and stringy and crispy... that's not how lengua's supposed to be.
The cilantro on the taco was wilted and gross.
I also got the huevos con chorizo. The eggs looked like dehydrated crap and tasted just as bland. I had to dump 2 small containers of salsa on it just to taste something. The spanish rice that comes with the eggs were the nastiest uncle ben crap I've ever had at a mexican restaurant.

I don't know why everybody thinks this place has cheap tacos. They are at best the same price as every other taco place if not about 10~25 cents more.
They also only give you 1 fork when you order for delivery 2 seperate entrees and 2 tacos. Ridiculous.

There was absolutely no redeeming factor from this place other than the fact that they deliver.

You could take a stab in the dark and find a better taco place in Chicago.

Since they moved I have found the quality and quantity of the entrees lacking.

Ordered a chicken burrito it wasn't as good as the chubby hole Mexican place next door... They have great burritos! ... ... The rice and beans were spread thin on my plate as if they were adding some frosting to a cake. Skimpy!!!! .... The amount of chicken in the burrito was inadequate when compared to other places in the area.

Try De Pasada directly next door! MUCH BETTER!

I have to say that the tacos at Mr. Taco's Restaurant lived up to the name and may have exceeded it. On the basis of the food alone, I would put this as one of my favorite mexican places. Unfortunately, Mr. Taco's stumbles on a few key points...

Given the name, I tried the al pastor and carnitas tacos -- both were well seasoned and tender. They stick to the clean and simple flavors -- meat, onion, cilantro. No frills about it, but they execute very well on the basics.

The wait staff at Mr. Taco's could use some work. The servers are friendly enough, but were a bit inattentive given how few other tables were full.

Mr. Taco's ambiance reminds me of a taco stand inside a faux modern restaurant -- picture garish Mexican stereotypical regalia on a backdrop of exposed steel conduits and Martha Stewart paint tones. While I love taco stands as much as the next guy, this place needs to go one way or another -- taco stand or restaurant. Up or out, Mr. Taco.

My husband and I have stopped here for dinner a few nights after work. We've enjoyed every meal, including the enchilladas (him; mole - me; red sauce). The service and prices are good and the food is served very fast. It's a nice addition to Chicago Ave.

I work in Streeterville so getting any type of authentic Mexican food out here is like finding bigfoot, impossible! But when we realized they delivered we figured we give it a try. I'm giving them 4 stars because I'm sure this is as close as I'll get to Mexican in the area. The gorditas of Chorizo and papa were good but they did go potato crazy on it. The taco of lengua was also good.

Last night we decided to explore our new neighborhood, grab some to-go menus from nearby restaurants, and pick some yummy Mexican food. Since there are a gazillion spots near us, we randomly chose Mr. Taco's.

We ordered from the incredibly sweet server, and waited for our tasty treats. Let me just mention that the decor is not something I associate with a Mexican Restaurant. It had a trendy brunch hot spot feel, which threw me off. I kind of thought that our food might be wind up being generic Americanized Mexican...but I was happy to say that everything was really good!

The steak tacos were fresh and tasty (although we've had better corn tortillas) and the steak enchiladas con mole were TASTEE! My boyfriend disagreed...the mole was a bit to spicy for him, and he wanted a little more cheese.
The rice and beans were pretty average, but I was more interested in the mole :)

In general the prices were good, the food was good, and the service was good...but I wasn't blown away by any of it. We'll be back to try their breakfast and probably take advantage of BYOB on a evening, but maybe not for a little while. With all the Mexican places nearby, I'm on the hunt for best steak enchiladas :)

I'm a regular at this place, as you can't beat succulent, moist, flavorful tacos and cheap prices! Their new location is cleaner and spruced up but my only complaint would be that the food takes a bit longer now. However, their sopes are still the best in Chicago! Also love any of their tacos and my vegetarian friend is constantly getting the stuffed peppers! Love it!

My roommate suggest I try another place beside Traspasada on Ashland. So i decided to go for Mr. Taco. I got a beef tortas to go. The bread was good, the beef was chopped up and too salty. I am a fan of beef tounge and will try that next time. However, I am not coming back here for tortas as long as Traspasada is in business!

Grabbed some burritos and tacos to go with a group of friends. The chicken burrito was good, but the beef tacos were a bit on the dry side. I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here, but if I'm in the neighborhood again and craving some cheap Mexican food, I'd definitely try it again. They have a pretty extensive gordita selection that I'd be willing to sample.

We stopped in a week or so after they opened in their new location. We'd skipped lunch and just wanted to grab something small. My fiance had never had sopes so we ordered 2 to go: a chorizo and a pastor, as well as some chips and guac. So delicious and fresh!

Last night we went for dinner and were again thrilled with our meal and service. We both work in the hospitality industry and our service standards are pretty high. Mr. Taco hit the mark. As soon as we sat down we were immediately greeted by our server with awesome salsas, chips, water, and menus. The owner then came by and offered to put the beer we brought (it's a BYOB joint) on ice. Our food was served promptly and it was really good. We just had a burrito and fajitas, which were everything we wanted them to be. We're definitely going back, and look forward to being regulars.

I confess that my opinion of this place is somewhat biased by the fact that when you walk by their door from the north, you have to pass the alley behind a live chicken store, so you get a huge whiff of chicken offal. On the other hand, my roommates and I did a thorough review of area taco/burrito joints upon moving here, and this just wasn't up to snuff. We wanted to love it, because the name is fantastic and it's so close. Unfortunately, the food is authentic but average, the price is average, and there just isn't any real reason to go. My twenty-something male roommate who needs to consume at least 3,000 calories per day to remain mobile will walk blocks out of his way to get other burritos when he's right next to Mr. Taco.

(this is for delivery only)

Dear Mr. Taco,
A few weeks ago we ordered a HUGE number of your delicious gorditas for delivery and you took 3 almost unbearable hours!!!
God were we swearing never to order again. My co-worker called and was not very nice to your people. Then you gave us some extra gorditas...
I was in trouble for having 10 hungry souls working without their lunch...
but you know what Mr. Taco, I have to confess myself for I have sinned:
I broke my word and totally ordered a second time, and it did take quite a bit, but damn were they worth it....
and oops I did it again and this time you guys made it record time under an hour... oh Mr. Taco, don't tell Mrs. Torta, but I love you! and your gordas de asada and chicharron.

I promise to visit you soon,
love

I love Mr. Taco's! The chorizo burrito is huge, freshly made and delicious.
It has just the right amount of spice or you get get more with the spicy green sauce.

They have a bunch of vegetarian options and people are usually friendly.

Pretty "authentic" with spanish spoken mostly and menu is more prominent in spanish. Super delicious as my burrito was made to order with everything grilled right in front of me.

tacos were good. they aren't open as late as some of the other taco joints in the area, but they are a nice place for lunch, or for dinner after you lock yourself out of your apartment. on a sunday.
