Fun place with a funny theme! Not pretty and unfortunately very sticky and hot but casual and fun place with good music and mixed crowd. Good for a spontaneous Friday night of dancing and drinks, not too dressy, just casual clothes and you are good to go. Â Reminds me of small European clubs frequented by college kids. Â Have been here twice and a had a good time both times. Â People just dance and have a good time and do not size each other up and down like in many of the downtown clubs.
Review Source:After going here at least a dozen times with the fellas I finally took a babe and of course she schools me on what I thought was a place I knew something about.
Mad Men is a chick flick TV show, and the entire bar is based on that show! Whatever, I just go and drink beer and dance. I can't help that I don't look at the specialty cocktails or read the flyers. Sue me.
$125 for a bottle of Clicquot is not bad and make sure you talk mad $#!+ about the Niners and Giants if Eric is bartending.
First, I would like to thank you all so very much for the incredible service and hospitalty that my pub crawl group recieved on Saturday early evening. I couldn't have chose for a better first stop and hope that you all know what an amazing staff you have! :-) The music/DJ was phenomanal and I thank you for the dontations. This event will definitley bring many back to your establishment!
Review Source:Mad men mules all day!
I've been to the office on busier nights were the people are packed in like sardines, less busy nights were there is room to dance, and slow afternoons to kick back for some drinks....and always enjoyed myself. Â Maybe it was because of my company... or maybe it was because The Office isn't half bad!
Although they could use some work in the woman's restroom. Â Came here once and one stall was out of order. Â They had a guy in their fixing it but didn't tell anyone, so some woman were surprised when a big ass dude comes out of one of the stalls lol. Â But overall, its worth a stop on a North Park night.
My friend's band played on a weekday and this place caught my attention from what I remember it being on a weekend night.
I am in love with the booths underneath the pin-up/book cover girls on the walls. Lots of space. Lots of craft cocktails which are not to be missed as well as a really great beer selection.
3.5 to 4 stars. After hearing constant talk about this place from co-workers, I decided to come here on a Saturday night with some friends. The place was not too packed but had a decent amount of people. We didn't have any trouble with the bouncers even though we had a terrible guy/girl ratio ($5 cover).
The decor was cool as others have mentioned, and the seating was comfy and spacious. The cocktails on the menu all appeared very creative and had great descriptions so you know exactly what you're getting. I ordered two drinks: the Paloma and The Rainmaker.
Paloma: Good but nothing special or too memorable.
Rainmaker: Delish! Very sweet for people who like their drinks that way. It tasted like an aloe drink you can get at an asian supermarket.
They both tasted good, but weren't very strong. I did not taste/feel the alcohol after.
The dance floor had a good amount of people, not too crowded but not awkward either, and the guy/girl ratio was pretty even from what I saw. FYI, watch out for the raised stage on the dance floor!
The DJ played a huge variety of music, including 90's hip hop! (: We danced for a while but left after the DJ started playing some intense house and electronic music.
Would recommend this place as it has a good vibe. There is a $20 minimum on credit cards, but the waitress who served me didn't enforce it. Would definitely return for happy hour!
Their signature cocktail menu is quite the collection. You should definitely go for Happy Hour! Half off all drinks until 7; and then 5$ signature drinks from 7-9. How could you go wrong there? They have some of my favorite drinks from C&c and they are half the price.
Lots of booths. Cool lighting. TV's. Friendly staff.
PS. I love Mad Men and a lot of their drinks are named after characters or something along those lines. The Don Draper? I'm in.
Great music and drink specials!
2 Happy hours!!! 4-7pm 1/2 price drinks, then 7-9pm $5 signature drinks!! Our party had a few of the signature drinks (Paloma, Sexecutive, Don Draper) all were GREAT!
DJ was AWESOME!
I am officially in love with this place as a chill, fun lounge to hang out with friends, have a yummy cocktail and get my groove on!
The Office Bar is pretty cool, as long as you don't stay past 9 P.M.
Before 9 P.M., the ambiance is awesome featuring intimate lighting, comfortable seating arrangements, strategically placed flat screens showcasing sporting events, and a friendly bar staff that keeps the conversation light and the pouring heavy.
The Office Bar features an array of signature cocktails that actually feature quality booze and ingredients. No high school style jungle juice cocktails here. They list all of the ingredients out for you. The Office Bar is like the Whole Foods of cocktail lounges.
But unlike Whole Foods, the Office Bar will not take your whole paycheck. Their first first happy hours runs, which runs from 4 P.M. to 7 P.M., offers 2 for 1 drinks. Their second happy hour, which runs from 7 P.M. to 9 P.M., offers $5 signature cocktails. It's the same high quality, stiff cocktails at nearly half the price. How awesome is that?
The only reason I'm deducting a full star is the place changes drastically after 9 P.M. The happy hour crowd begins to filter out, the sporting events start to come off the flat screens, and the drink specials go away. In their place we have thuggish club crowd, Mad Men on the screens, and pricier drinks. How lame is that?
When it comes down to it, the crowd is terrible. And well, a slow moving drama should never be shown in a loud bar. The places gets so crowded, it's impossible to move, grab a drink, or get some random body stiffness without upsetting someone. After a while, the whole place just gives me a headache, I can't stand it, and I head home.
But I guess that's just another day at the Office. Right?
Dark. Gritty. Bartenders who wear snarls. $5 signature cocktails during Happy Hour. What's not to love? I walked by later in the evening and it looked really packed, but around 7pm it was borderline empty and an amazing place to snag a few drinks, wax poetic about Mad Men, and completely forget that I was in a surf town.
Review Source:If you want to use your credit card you have  to spend more than $20 dollars  But that's not the problem , the problem was whet When I close
My credit card  My bill was 27 dollars I let 6 dollar and tips cash  My surprise was that they charged me $ 3 more on my card .  My point is that you have to be careful when you pay with your credit card . I'm never going back ..
Came to support friends performing. I dig the leather soft barber shop style stool. Had the Rainmaker cocktail $4 happy hr price. Dangerous happy buzz that sneaks up on you. Came alone left w/new friends. Small bar, nice selection of signature cocktails. Nice little hang out in North Park
Review Source:I have a deep love for the dive bar. This place fits the bill. Dive but not dirty. The night we went we had just come from a bday party at URBN Pizza, so there was a group of us. The place was dead for a Sat night(it was pretty early though, the bouncer hadn't even shown up yet) but I like my bars that way. The drinks have awesome names like "The Secretary" or the "Don Draper". I had a drink that tasted exactly like cherry coke, its one of those drinks you dont even know there is alcohol in it until you have had a few and your dancing on the bar, which lucky didn't happen that night, and I also had a vodka tonic. Both were very yum!
This place is great early in the night. I havent been later but I hear it can get very very loud and crowded. Def worth a visit.
My previous review is terribly dated now on two accounts. Â First, what was the best happy hour in North Park has been changed... for the better! Â From opening until 7, every day of the week, all drinks are half-priced, and from 7-9, all specialty cocktails are only $5, which is barely more than half price. Â That means that you can enjoy the rare experience of a delicious happy hour-priced drink at 8:45 on a Saturday night! Â And... no more chips to lose or forget the value of. Â In short, it's a good thing gone even better.
Secondly, the wait staff has very much improved from my first review. Â They are all very consistently attentive and (as long as you're not too obnoxious) very friendly. Â It probably helps that I'm a frequent customer, but the improvement has most definitely been universal. Â Kudos to the staff for stepping it up!
After walking in this place and seeing the suggestive pictures on the wall, I felt a little taudry being in here. Like one of those broads that wear pencil skirts and 5 inch heels to work and flirts heavily with the fellas in the Good Ole Boys club.
The place is kinda small and there's really nowhere to sit so you have to enjoy standing and getting bumped into regularly. I had one of their special cocktails that has Hendricks gin in it and some other stuff and I definitely liked it. I liked it a whole lot!
In fact, I liked everything about this place a whole lot. Minus the super thirsty guys in there. Those dudes bawked at everything that walked by. Calm down.
I wasn't here for too long...only had one drink (i probably shouldn't have had that since I had already primed my liver before arriving)...but i must say that the drink menu is good, the one drink i had was yummo...the service was prompt.
the atmosphere was nice...ample seating, good music...
and who doesn't love being able to tell your spouse that you are at the office and it isn't a lie! =)
The office has its own little niche in the North Park alcoholism scene. They definitely have the best drink menu in North Park, lots of options there. Best wall art for sure. Its a little dark in there, not in a racist way, but an interior decorating way. Black leather couches, dark bar tops, dark floor, Whoever designed the interior definitely voted for Obama. Night time is cool there too, the have Jimbo on Thursday and Reggae on Sunday/Monday and dance-y type music Friday and Saturday. I enjoy my time at the office, and I believe you will too, unless you don't like leather.
Review Source:Hi,
I prefer not to review establishments or people unless it was a really BAD experience!
But i will tell you this, i do think about the BAD experience and what i'm going to say before i post a review.
Because we as humans all have good & bad days.
I have been going to The Office for a few years and have thoroughly enjoyed it until my Birthday this year on the Saturday August 18th.
My night was going GREAT with my friends there  and a few more arriving.
The waitress we had was AWESOME.
So around 10:30 pm i got up to go ask the D.j to play a song mind you there were two  D.j's.
A " Average size Filipino " and a" Husky Fat Caucasian ".
I stood at the Dj booth for a minute with a friend and then the finally i tapped the Caucasian  on the hand as he was closest to me.
I asked him could he play a song and he replied NO!
I then asked him why not and he responded HE DID NOT HAVE TO!
Ok so now i'm thinking, that's rude.
The music tonight is not that great and fyi people they were playing songs from 1994-1997 era. Like Boys2Men,Adina Howard,R kelly,Kieth Sweat etc...
So what i wanted played was Bell Biv Devoe same era...1992.
I told him i thought he was rude and there was no reson why he could not play the song.
He ( Â Husky Fat Caucasian ) Â then responded with HE HAD BEEN DJING FOR 5 YEARS AND HE IS A PROFESSIONAL AND DOES NOT NEED ANYONE TELLING HIM WHAT AND HOW TO DJ.
I then walked away because i was MAD at the way HE RESPONDED.
NOT to mention HOW RUDE HE REPRESENTED THIS ESTABLISHMENT!
POOR SERVICE!
Remember fellow Yelper's i have been coming to this establishment for years and have never had someone of his nature  be disrespectful and be rude!
Overall we ended up leaving shortly after and going to Bar dynamite by the way SAME OWNER.
I did see him but did not get to express what had happened 30 mins earlier at The Office because my friends were like F the Fat Caucasian Dj let's have a good time.
Bar Dynamite played better music anyway and the Dj was NOT A PRICK!
HONEST REAL INTERVIEW, PLEASE DON'T FILTER.
Awesome drink menu and one of the core bars in North Park. Not that I'm an expert, because I've only been here once, and out in North Park a record 3 times. But, I hate it when you go to a bar *cough* PB *cough* and they don't serve cocktails! Just give me a damn mojito! None of that "vodka redbull" shit. I'm not at voyeur!!
Anyways, rant aside, I had a really good time here. There was also music, and a dance floor, which was very small. The music was okay, I can't hate on it, because I have a very particular taste in music, and most bars don't pass the test. This was top 40s, hip hop type jams, nothing I would choose to listen to on my own, but okay for the club environment. Also, you don't have to yell to hear your friends talking...you can have a conversation, drink a hand crafted cocktail, and then head to the next bar.
There is a cover, but we managed to get around it (one of the many benefits of being a girl) but for the boys it was $5. I probably would be giving this 3 stars if I had to pay to get.
Probably one of my favorite bars in San Diego. I've only been to a handful, but I know what I like. The Office Bar has a great theme, nice drink menu, had some fun shows going on for Awesome Fest 666 and good service.
I had a couple drinks off the drink menu, but loved the names. The Brown Bunny: Sweet Tea Vodka, Peach Schnapps, Monin Lemonade - but my favorite was The Bottom Line: Cucumber Pearl Vodka, Refine Mojito Mix and Lime Juice (only 96 calories).
They also have Delirium Tremens beer in bottles, which is probably one of my all time favorites. They also have Chimay and Duvel, which I opt for almost everytime.
For a Dive Bar, the Office keeps it classy and that's why I am a fan.
This place has THE BEST bartenders in the area. Â Was at the bar and couldn't believe how efficiently they ran the bar. Â They were swamped and I didn't see the bottom of my glass for more than a few minutes. Â
They were having a delirium tremens special and had some "art" glasses. Â I wanted the whole set for a wedding present. Â Initially they couldn't find one of the set. Â By the end of the night they found the whole set, washed 'em all and put it all in a nice box. Â I couldn't have asked for more. Â Did I mention that they were swamped? Â Julie, Joe, Nery and Eric did a great job. Â Thanks guys! Â My friends really liked the glasses.
Beer and drinks flow easily. Â I found the mixed drinks to have enough alcohol in 'em to taste like an alcoholic drink, but well balanced. Â You can find cheaper drinks in town, but they probably won't taste as good. Â I like harder to find beers and there were a lot of those.
The atmosphere is good. Â It is a dressy place, so show up in jeans and t-shirt and feel out of place. Â
Seems like an easy place to make friends.
I would give it more stars but this was our last spot to hit up on our North Park pub crawl fest...we were a big group...there was 1 bartender and 1 Â bar back...she was not so nice...we tried to be patient, I mean we knew the size of our group and at this point, some people, ok most people were sloshed. Still, we would have left her a big ol' tip, but she clearly didn't want it. Â
Still had fun though!
Not a fan of a place that makes me feel like I'm in a place that belongs more in downtown San Diego as opposed to the area it's in.
I will give props for the atmosphere though as this is a place where you would probably want to dress up and kick back with a drink. But club/dance music is a bit off putting given the vibe the place tries to put off, vs what it actually executes.
Drinks are good and varied, but they're all at prices you'd expect to find in other parts of town and a little bit on the over priced part (specialties are usually specially priced unless I missed something, or have now awaken in bizarro land).
Just not my cup of tea over all.
Cocktails to try (my faves):
*Don Drapper (Bourbon soaked cherries FTW!)
*Paloma
*Whistleblower
...ahhh who am I kidding....TRY ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL TEH COCKTAILS!
Side note:
$20 minimum with debit/credit cards
Their happy hour speshuls kick so much ass.
P.S. JAMES is teh best bartender EVARRRRRR! /hearts
I go on thursdays because if you get on the list there is an open hosted bar from 930 to 1030 on vodka drinks. Â Find out more info from them or something.
One time they had a caricature guy and he drew me. Â it was awesome.
I was a little buzzed.
Other than that, the place is eh. Â Decent prices for specialty drinks, horrible beer selection, crowded dance floor, and very multicultural clientele
I miss Scolari's Office and their difficult trivia nights.
If it were more of a dive, id go more. Â But since its kinda like if AC lounge had a kid with the Red C lounge, and its 3 blocks from my house, you might see me there on thursdays trying to count the vodka drinks.
I arrived at 11PM on a Tuesday night with a few girlfriends and got in without cover charge.
I LOVE THE THEME! Love the Mad Men TV Show references and interesting cocktail names (Black Monday, Don Draper, Mad Men Mule, Sexecutive, Night Shift - just to name a few)! The bar is cleverly designed to fit the theme. I found the cartoon posters of naughty co-workers having "fun" at the office very funny and entertaining.
I was slightly caught off guard by the music though - the DJ spinned reggae the whole night. The crowd and ambiance definitely matched the music - I easily spotted a handful of guys with dreads, and throughout the night I smelled weed trailing from the restrooms.
I think this is a perfect place for a date! You and your partner will definitely share a few good laughs while trying to master reggae moves. Although the DJ was nice enough to dedicate a shout-out to my friend who was leaving San Diego, he was unable to accept our hip-hop song requests. I was told that reggae is the new and upcoming underground music, so I kept an open mind and enjoyed the rest of my night with a bottle of Red Stripe Jamaican Lager in hand. :)
In my experience there are 2 The Office Bars; there is the casual bar where you can have a drink and talk with your friend which lasts until about 9-10pm. Â After that time it turns into a dance club and gets crowded and loud. Â I actually enjoy both but you have to know what to expect depending on when you go.
Great drink specials with 1/2 price everything from 4-7pm and then $5 signature drinks from 7-9pm. Â I've come here after many a meal to have a couple of drinks and talk with my friends. Â I've only come once for the dancing and had a really great time. Â The DJ played very danceable music at a high pace so the energy on the dance floor was very high as well. Â That always makes for a fun although sweaty time.
2 for 1 drinks from 4-7? Â Sold!
The Don Draper is like an old fashioned, The Mad Men Mule is like a...mule. Â Both are good and strong. Â Both can be had for $9 during happy hour!
The one and only time I was here was at like 4:30 on a Saturday. Â So, it wasn't hot or crowded. Â Service was fast, drinks were strong. Â Everyone had fun.
I'd definitely stop by again, but only during happy hour as I don't normally drink cocktails, so I'm cheap and can't spend $8 on one.
Great local spot in North Park.
Twice I've been there and both time were fun!
No bottle service needed, free booths to sit in, waitress service, great drinks(creative drink names as well).
I dig the decor of this place, the crowd mixed but cool. This place reminds me of bar D. I heard on Thursdays they have a deep house night.
Definitely check it out, great alternative to downtown, no need to dress up and pretend.
Nooo!!! No bar food. But, because they are situated in the heart of North Park and close to a variety of restaurants.
Now, I'm the first to admit that I'm not a drinker, but the few times I've been here I've seen others grab some of their mixed cocktails and rave about them. I'll just stick with my light and sissy beer. Bartenders are pretty laidback and chill (like most bartenders I've met in SD)
The environment is pretty hip. Darkly lit. A couple of proper tables. And a few flat screen tv's situated throughout the bar so that you're never blind to the football game on. There's a stage in the back for live acts.
