I love their baked goods (food is ok but not for the price), but one of my biggest pet peeves is when I get to a business and they close sooner then their stated hours of business. After a long day all I wanted was to buy some delicious conchas, but nope...they decided to close over 1/2hr earlier. I can totally understand if they had runout of stuff, but I was looking at their fully stocked counters. Hopefully management doesn't let this be a usual thing.
Review Source:This little gem is straight out of Nogales or Sonoita or some such border town, as evidenced by the stacks and stacks of day old pastries, the retro looking menu board, the blaring Telemundo, and the obvious language barrier. Â What am I talking about? Â Chicago has a huge population of persons of Mexican heritage. Â So maybe it's straight out of Chicago. Â Welcome to Bolingbrook!
Anyway, I'm just now recovering from the rapture that the pastor tacos induced. Â Perfectly seasoned pork, fresher than fresh onions and cilantro, and fantastic hot sauce. Â I could have eaten maybe..... 10 of them. Â Sloth is OK, but I will not be ascribed gluttony, so I quit at 2. Â I will be back many, many times.
I've been looking for a good Mexican bakery in the area for a while. This place is all right but definitely not the best.
When I walked in I was a little confused because I didn't realize it was a restaurant too. I didn't get to try their food but probably won't after reading the other reviews.
I came in early on a Sunday morning to get fresh baked pastries/bread. I chose a pretty wide variety of stuff and found that the items were hit or miss. The bread (bolillo) and cochinitos were fresh and delicious but the conchas, empanadas and cookies were definitely old and stale.
They have a decent selection of most of the favorites & you really can't complain for the price. I walked out with more than 10 pastries for $7 and some change. I'll be be back but the search continues...
