Not bad, I wasn't thrilled about the mushrooms they brought to the table and a packet of breadsticks( yes it was like 3-4 bread sticks in a packet) As for the service Mario our server was very knowledgeable and professional. My girl had the Seafood Risotto and I had the Pesto w/Chicken. It was very delicious! I've eaten out at tons of places and for pasta, this place is very overpriced. The food is good but no pasta dish should exceed 20.00 it's PASTA!! And add some bread! To the table get rid of those packets of bread sticks)

Authentic Italian Pizza place.. with delicious sandwiches, pasta dishes, and soups! The staff is friendly (Mario is fantastic!!) and they've got a really nice wine selection. I like their decor tradition yet modern. Definitely recommend for lunch or dinner!

Absolutely delicious and authentic Italian food. Service was very friendly and attentive. I had the special which was lobster & crab ravioli. We also had mussels & clams as an appetizer. All very good. I would definitely come again. Great service. The only bad thing was there was a table nearby with a bunch of little kids who screamed and ran around the restaurant for about 45 minutes. If I was the manager, I would have asked them to leave.

Dear Yelp diary,
Today I broke my no pizza outside a 100 mile radius of New York City, Chicago, or Italy rule. Was it worth it? Oh, it's so hard for me to say...

To start from the beginning, all my friends told me that Panaretto was great. Charming for dates, affordable, authentic Italian food that warms your heart like Nonna's home cooking. So I sat down and perused the menu. The service was initially very friendly, but quickly became a bit over bearing. We got a lot of "advice" about the simple menu and it didn't feel quite right. Also, the televisions were distracting for a nice meal. But at least they have outdoor seating?

We ordered:
Salad la caprona (goat cheese tomatoes mushroom)
Cefalu penne (grilled veggies pesto mozz)
Altopiano pizza (mushroom & bacon)

We received a small plate of sliced raw mushrooms that come drizzled with olive oil and sliced parmesan, as well as thin crispy Italian breadsticks in a plastic pack. At least it was free?

The salad was exceptionally large, enough for 3 sides. It came with the vinaigrette already mixed in, with it pooling and separating out at the bottom of the bowl and making things soggy and salty. The goat cheese is aged a bit more than my liking. The tomatoes were nice ans sweet though. Meh.

The Cefalu was okay. It lacked that flavorful punch I was hoping for with fresh vegetables and mozzarella. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't special enough for me to want to order it again. The whole plate became very boring about 1/4 of the way through and I didn't want to finish the carby mess.

The Altopiano pizza was the make it or break it. I have come to expect disgusting, poor excuses for "authentic" pizza outside of my radius range. My Brooklyn roots scoff at the idea of a good thin crust pizza elsewhere. But this place had good reviews, an authentic clay oven, and small portion sizes rather than the gargantuan masses typically served in Middle America. Would this be the exception to my rule? Well, it kinda was, and kinda wasn't. The crust was excellent, crispy and delicately thin, with a good chew and heft to hold the toppings. The sauce also stood well, not too plain, and not overbearingly sweet. The toppings were fresh and exciting kinds of mushrooms which were delightful. But then I noticed the orange trail, dripping from my pizza onto the plate. The orange oil of ickyness, the sign of cheap cheese or meat toppings. Granted, we had bacon, so it should have had a fair amount of oil. However, restaurants can precook the bacon to render more fat and make the bacon crisper. The cheese also was just okay.

Granted, the pizza at Panaretto is probably awesome compared to places around. Its probably the most authentic you'll get in the area. But overall the meal was more meh than wow, so I'm going to stick with my 50 mile radius rule.

A hidden gem. Nice and clean inside, nice decor. Friendly greeting in Italian. Menu is large, with pastas, pizzas and sandwiches. Only beer and wine on thd drink list though, which is fine by me. I had the "meatball" special and it was outstanding. Hard to describe, there were so many things in it, with a butter sauce. Just delicious. Others seemed to really enjoy their food, pizza and pasta. The only slight disappointment was the tiramisu for dessert. A small portion, which was fine, but it was sort of tasteless. That keeps it from getting 5 stars. Very fair prices.

Oh, one additional thing, I would love it if they would offer Prosecco by the glass, not just by the bottle. Again, just my preference..

All in all a good experience and I will return happily to try other things on the menu.

This was not my first time here, but this time was a little more disappointing than my other visits.

I decided to meet a friend here for dinner because I had a gift certificate that I had to use and hadn't been here in a while. We met up and I couldn't stop raving about the marinated mushrooms and homemade orangellico that she would get to experience on the house since they bring them to every table...my mistake.

We sat down and the owner/Exec Chef seated us and promptly set the table with menus. Moments after sitting down we met our waitress who was friendly, but slightly rushed and not very attentive. After being asked 3 times in about 5 minutes, we decided to just go ahead an order everything so we could just sit an relax.

We ordered a reasonably priced bottle of Pinot Grigio that was very good.

I was waiting for the usual plate of sliced mushrooms that come drizzled with olive oil and sliced parmigiano regiano, and the thin crispy Italian breadsticks, but it never came. Big disappointment.

We then ordered 3 pizzas...yes its a lot, but I wanted leftovers!

We ordered the Vegetariana, the Marscapone y Crudo, and the La Tartufona.

The Vegetariana was great with lots of fresh veggies. A delicious and lighter pizza that was perfectly cooked. A wonderful mix of flavors that is not overpowering and makes you wanting to come back for more.

The Marscapone y Crudo is always one of my favorites, loaded with prosciutto and rich as heck! I was a little disappointed that the pizza seemed to have a little less prosciutto than it used too, but there was still plenty and it is still a pizza I will get EVERY time I come here. My fave!

The La Tartufona was a pleasant surprise. Loaded with thin sliced white mushrooms that had a wonderful earthy flavor to them. They were perfectly complimented with the shaved parmagiano cheese over top and the delicious crema that was under the melted cheese and toppings. I will definitely get this one too.

After a while, we still had not seen our original waitress but maybe once since our pizzas were delivered, but instead, another waitress came by a few tiems to check on us. Ultimately, our original waitress came over to see if we wanted anything else and listed off the desserts. My friend decided that we should get the calzone that was filled with ricotta and nutella.

It was perfect size for two people, we spectacularly rich, and let's be honest....its not nutella...what could be bad?!

Again, the other waitress brought us our check and she was the one who came back to take it and run our credit card. I hate to say it, I don't think this was a "teamwork" situation as much as it was this other waitress seeing that we needed some service. Again, our original waitress was friendly, but lacked attentiveness.

At the end of our meal, I was waiting for the homemade orangecello that I've always had after every meal here, but it was never brought to us. I saw other tables getting it, but was disappointed that we didn't get our. I ended up passing instead of pushing the issue since my friend was too full for the treat anyway. Still, disappointed.

I would could back here, but I hope that this was just a one time thing instead of a downward trend in service. Great food tho!

Went there with the family for Pizza. Service was spotty. Atmosphere was fine.
The food was good - what they do better than other pizza places is offer a unique variety of topping choices. Nothing special about the crust or cooking method.

Would visit again if I was in the area - but definitely not the kind of place to drive across town for. What is with the red paper napkins?

I frequent Panaretto's for lunch, and I'm never disappointed.

Interestingly enough, Panaretto is the name of a wooden serving plate. Their philosophy is that by cooking pizza on a Panaretto, it makes the cutting process easier, as well as preserving the crust for consolidation.

That's respectable.

Now here's a rule that I live by:

If any establishment has a food item on their menu that's named after their establishment, it's only a must that you go for the kill --- no backing down. In this case, I only had one thing in mind --- the Panaretto.

Now, at first glance, the Panaretto pizza ($14.50) is pretty amusing. Each slice has its own set of toppings; so each toppings is divided into its own sector of the pie. I won't go into full detail, but there's a plethora of veggies and meats, and you find yourself munching Asparagus, and then carrots with Cooked ham.

Sounds delicious? Overall, I have to give it a 4/5, it's really good; but nothing out of this world.

Note: All of Panaretto's pizzas are personal sizes (feeds 1-2 people), so it's not like you can upsize. This isn't Italian-American; you're looking at an authentic-Venetian pizza joint'.

Sandwiches? Amazing. Screw Panera. GO. TO. PANARETTO.

All of their sandwiches are served on a delicious toasted Ciabatta bread.

Emanuele ($6.80) - Grilled chicken with tomato sauce, spinach, mozzarella, goat cheese, and sun-dried tomatoes = 5/5

Stracchino e Crudo ($6.80) - Stracchino cheese, parma ham, tomato sauce and mozzarella = 5/5

I think I'll keep returning until I've finished every single item on their menu.

Not bad, not amazing. Cute place in a strip mall with an excellent pianist (on the sidewalk!). Tables inside and out.

Highlights: caesar dressing, chicken parmesan (cooked in pizza oven?), tomato sauce.

Disappointments: Meatball sandwich (mostly bread, bits of meatball), no bread served with the salad, limited bar menu (beer and wine only), arrogant server.

Not a bad choice for a pre-cruise meal. It's nice to support a local, independent restaurant.

Tried it for lunch on a cool Saturday afternoon. Sat outside and was entertained by the the cruise crew shuffle.

We shared a salami and cheese plate before diving into a pizza. Pizza was really good and light.

The two young ladies that took care of us were OUTSTANDING. I will leave it at that.

I will try the pasta on my next visit.

Get your act together - you have potential!

It's a cute-ish Italian restaurant even if it is in a strip mall. They tried hard and the food was actually quite good. It is more of a full menu than a pizzeria - don't let the name fool you. It could have gotten 4 stars from us but they botched my pizza order because all of the wait staff seemed to be in disarray. They did offer to comp the pizza but then there was a little drama with the waitress saying she would pay for it herself but the bill had to reflect the whole price. Very strange, was she trying to guilt us into not accepting the $10 she pulled from her own pocket? All very amateur hour, and a black eye for an otherwise high potential restaurant. The prior reviews have also hit on this as well. If they get their act together they might survive and do well.

I have been here twice.
I would give my first experience 4.5 stars.
I would give my second experience 1.5 stars

**Review for my first visit -

Busy little spot. Harried & rushed young waitresses - still decided to sit down and have dinner. Glad I did.

This was a most pleasant surprise, and a fantastic dining experience the first time.

The pizzas are hands down the best I have had. Great selection, perfect amount of crunch. Superb toppings. All so delicious and perfectly presented.

I started off with mussels in spicy tomato sauce - Delicious. The accompanying bread was dry and brittle.

Followed by the Capricciossa personalised by the chef by adding a spicy salami - Perfection.

A glass of red wine was the perfect accompaniment.

A small shot glass of their Tiramisu - Divine.

A shot of orangecello on the house - Oh, This was magical!! What a perfect way to end the night.

I walked away feeling loved and happy, with plans to visit again, soon.

**Review for my second visit (last night).

Super busy again. Was greeted and seated promptly.

Stared off with a lovely glass of Pinot Grigio. They offer a little dish of marinated mushrooms on the house - sublime.

After a seriously rushed off her feet girl recited the specials, I decided to go with their 'Mama's Steak'. Requested it 'Medium Rare'.

After a decent wait, I get my steak, order a glass of red, and cut into my meat. It was grey and well done. The accompanying greens were jaded and definitely not cooked fresh.

Broccoli Rabe should be bright green, not jaded green and swimming in oil. I hail her, and say that my steak is well done. She takes my plate, apologises and says they will make it right.

After another long wait, I get my food. The steak is a little better, but by no means medium rare. It's tough, chewy and just wrong. The greens are just as jaded. The highlight was my grilled polenta, topped with sautéed mushrooms.

It was a very disappointing meal overall. I was and am still in shock. How could they screw up a steak & greens? How can they justify charging $20 for a tiny piece of chewy gristle??

Got a Orangecello dumped hastily with the cheque - yes, it was sublime.

Between the three young waitresses, it was hard trying to keep up with who served me my wine, who took my order and who presented my cheque. Odd.

The place loses out on spotty, rushed, harried service.
The place needs a hostess.
The place needs more staff.
It seriously needs to get cloth napkins. You certainly charge me enough to justify it.
Stop putting sharp knives in a paper holder - people can cut themselves when trying get it out.

I will probably be back when I crave a pizza again, but won't be tempted by anything else on the menu.

As good as it gets for real Italian style gourmet pizza, pasta and sandwiches. And the owner, Fabio, is a very friendly host who turns out slices of heaven in every bite. You'll feel like you stepped off of a plane in Venice. Save room for dessert!

This has become one of my favorite restaurants. The pizza is the best in town! One of my favorites is the "La Tartufona" a wonderful fresh mushroom pie with truffle paste....just heaven! The ceasar salad is delicous, the dressing is perfect. There are many choices on the pies and I will need to start tasting my way through the varied and unique pizza combinations. The pasta with the duck sauce is fantastic and a true traditional Italian comfort food.

Chef/owner Fabio, is always welcoming and makes you feel very welcome, just like you are in his living room. After dinner the Orangecello, that was Fabio's mothers recipe is a refreshing treat.

Pizza, pasta nad whatever Fabio is cooking up for the nite...in a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere.....it all adds up to a wonderful time!!

This is a real "find". The pizza's are REAL ITIALIAN much like what you find in Italian Tratorias in Italy...the chef/owner (Fabio) is from a small town near VENICE, he will visit your table and make you feel at home,
We had a ceasaar salad and a MARIO'S special pizza...4 (no really 5 cheese's, spinach and special sausage)) and it was enough for the 2 of us for dinner.
House wine and a few imported beers at very reasonable prices, and if you sit outside you are right next to Uriel, he plays piano from 6pm to closing and if you want to request...he knows the song!
You MUST try PANARETTO it is worth the 5 stars.

I heard good things about this place via Yelp, and I live nearby, so a few months ago I bought a $25 gift certificate via http://Restaurant.com (for $2, by the way) and we decided to use it the other night. We ate outside and listened to their very enthusiastic piano player while we ate. He did some jazz standards and even accommodated someone's request for "Piano Man"...dude really feels the music, facial expressions and everything!

Service was good although the waitress seemed a little out of it. We ordered two pizzas, one of the specialty pizzas (La Texana, I think it was called, around $12) which had a couple of different types of cheeses, eggs (first time trying that on a pizza) and bacon. It was like a breakfast pizza, but it was very fresh-tasting and delicious. I like how they serve the pizza already sliced into perfect slices that don't stick together so it's ready to grab and eat. We got another pizza with I think pepperoni and bacon and it was good as well (around $14). I was a little disappointed they didn't bring us bread, being an Italian restaurant, but I guess you have to order that. We shared a bottle of wine from their very reasonably priced wine list and overall had a nice meal. I want to try some of their other specialty pizzas, because they sounded great, very interesting ingredients and toppings. This pizza tastes nothing like American pizza or NY-style pizza. Supposedly the owner is from Italy and while I've never been to Italy, I could see the difference in style of the pizza. Not complaining - it was good. We also liked the complimentary shot of orangello (sp?) they gave us, which was sweet and delicious.

When we went to pay the owner or manager came back and said they would take our http://restaurant.com certificate but to not use them again because they will no longer accept certificates from that website, so take note. He said if it's Groupon or something like that, no problem, but they are not affiliated with http://Restaurant.com and to avoid them. Interesting. In summary, we thought the pizza and stuff was great and we will definitely go back or order takeout sometime. It's cool to have an authentic Italian pizzeria in the neighborhood. I'm a fan.

I was naive with my first review - Panaretto is a legit, delicious Italian joint in south Florida. I stopped in twice more during a business trip in the area and tried the speck & brie sandwich for lunch, and the proscuttio/melon & provolone/arugula salad for dinner. It's a bit dangerous that Panaretto had half-price wine on a Wednesday night (especially with that $18 chianti I mentioned in my first review). The prices here for the quality of food are well worth it.

The most authentic Italian Pizza in South Florida! Ducati Owners groups gets together here every Tuesday night and the food is outstanding! Pizza's and Pasta dishes are amazing and the service is excellent and very friendly.

After coming back from Italy this past summer, this is the place I go to get my fix of authentic Italian cuisine! I reccommend all the pizza dishes as well as their cheese and ham platters as good starters.

I live nearby and had thought about giving this place a try but passed on it because I didn't like the name. Boy what a mistake that was! A great pizzaria as close to Italy as you can get here in Fort Lauderdale. Owner is there cooking and talking with patrons. I am not going anywhere else for pizza anymore. Last night, after a write up in the sun-sentinel, I went to Pizzeria Panaretto for the first time, and was not disappointed. The restaurant is on the far most western corner of the Southport Shopping Center, so it may be more accessible on Cordova Road, rather than 17th Street. Either way you get there though, you are in for a treat.

Upon arrival, the restaurant was set up to accompany a very large party and I was sure glad my party and I arrived before them. More on that later.

The restaurant is basically an upscale pizzeria with a traditional pizza oven encased in stone, stone flooring, and wooden tables and chairs. It makes for a comfortable dining experience. They also offer out door seating. It must be noted that the hostesses seemed very stringent regarding seating, i.e., parties of two may not choose their table if it is designated for four.

Our waitress, who explained that she was new, was very friendly and brought out sliced mushrooms in olive oil with parmigiana cheese sprinkled on top which was a nice treat. Additionally slim bread sticks were provided. The menu does have an extensive array of pizzas with various toppings, or you can design your own. Pictures are provided so you get an idea of what you will be served. The menu also contains various pastas and sandwiches. Although tempted by some of the more experimental pizza pies, my girlfriend and I decided to keep things basic for our first go at Panaretto's. Accordingly, we split the penne pomodoro and the pizza margarita.

The penne pomodoro was a nice sized portion served with a small slice of delicious artisan bread (assuming this is the bread they use in some sandwiches, I will have to try one on another visit). The pomodoro sauce was light and sweet. The pasta was cooked well and the dish made a nice opener. Next was the pizza margarita. The pie is 13" so it can be enough for two, but if I were to come here again, and not have pasta beforehand, I would need a pie to myself. The crust is thin and chewy and a bit firm. The pizza had the taste of a New York style slice (although the crust and size were a bit different) which is what I grew up on. The sauce and cheese were right on-sweet, a little salty, not overly acidic or too goopy. The pizza was very good.

I must mention that I am not a huge fan of the coal fired pizzas that are all the rage down here and prefer pizza of this style. It maintained its integrity when being folded, was not overly doughy and was filling without being totally overpowering. It left me satiated without feeling bloated.

As far as service, it was good until the end of dinner, when the previously mentioned large party finally showed up. Our waitress was given the task of serving this party of twenty or so and their coaches. Apparently, the Italian Men's Olympic Swim Team has been eating lunch and dinner at Panaretto's for the past two weeks. Therefore, it took a while for our dishes to be cleared and check to be delivered. It was OK though as our waitress was obviously working her tail off and not just being inattentive to our table. She gave a genuine apology.

All in all, I enjoyed Panaretto's pizza and will return again for it. I would also like to try more of their pastas and sandwiches. Hey, if is good enough for the Italian swim team, its good enough for this Jewish guy from Long Island.

Wow! A true "slice of Italy"! Fabio is from Venice and is an amazing chef. The pizza is thin crust and the toppings are fantastic. Truffles, wild mushrooms, prosciutto, rosemary sprigs, arugula, etc. with fantastic variety of cheeses. He's got lots of unusual pastas too. The Anaretta, pasta with duck, is unbelievable. I've eaten there 4 times in 3 weeks and just talking about it makes me hungry. I lived in Italy for 6 months and this is as close as you'll get in the USA.
