Poor service. I know I shouldn't expect much, but still.
Called in at 12:30 am and the delivery time was supposed to be 40-50 min. 90 min later - no delivery. No explanation
Now i dont need the food so when I called to cancel my order, they told me to keep the food for no charge. So, when the food FINALLY arrives: they tell me that they can't really give me the food. What the #%@! is going on? At least get your apology right!
Disappointing.
It takes a lot to get me to comment, but I had such a great experience with this Papa John's location, I had to comment. Â Even though there was some confusion around the timing of my large order, everyone was extremely pleasant and the issue was sorted out without Incident (at least to me). Â It was a huge relief because I was ordering food for a big group and the food arrived exactly on time, the delivery person was helpful in bringing the pizza into the building, and the pizza was hot and delicious! Â Thank you Papa John's on Cermak - we will order from you in the future without question.
Review Source:Just wanted to join the chorus of people who have had problems with this location. Ordered for carryout, walked into the store 30 minutes later and they had not even begun to make my pizza. I asked how long it would take to make, and was told "about 5 minutes." 15 minutes later I received my order, which was just 1 large pizza. Terrible service, and employees in the store seem to have no clue how to make it better. The pizza was still pretty good though, so I'm giving it two stars.
Review Source:So I ordered a pizza last Friday night on the web and paid with my credit card. Â The delivery driver delivered quickly and I gave him a cash tip. Â Great job! Â :) Â On the credit card receipt I just signed it and went on my way. Â Last night I got my statement and noticed the charge was a bit more than I expected. Â I looked at the receipt still on the counter to find that the delivery driver went ahead and gave himself an additional $5 tip on top of the cash I already gave him! Â Ughh.. My bad for not writing in
"cash" in the tip spot. Â So I called the store last night and the manager couldn't do anything. Â He took my info and said the district manager would call me today. Â No calls today. Â So I called and spoke to Janice (store manager maybe?). Â She claimed my story didn't match what she heard from the manager the night before and basically called me a liar. Â She proceeded to say she would need to look into it more. Â Really? Â It's $5 - a good manager would have just reversed it or just given me a credit on my next purchase and moved on. Â Called Discover and they filed a credit card fraud claim! Â Won't be ordering from this location ever again!
Don't order from here... PLEASE DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE... Order from Brandi's across the street or Flo Santos.
Thought to give them a try one night. Most people would not see this as an issue, but if you put yourself in my shoes, I would hope you would understand.
I love Buffalo Chicken pizza.. I have oredered it a million times from many places. Granted, maybe I should have read the FINE PRINT that they add Bacon (I cannot eat bacon) to their Buffalo Chicken pizza, but every other pizza that has something 'major' to it, would say it in the Title of the Pizza - NOT THIS ONE. Â
Anyway, after getting the pizza I called and kindly asked if I would be able to get a new pizza, but the manager said he needed to check with his manager, took my number - never called back after reconfirming my phone number.
The things I could have done by the time I received my pizza:
1) Flown to Miami
2) Made 2 pizzas
3) Gone to the suburbs and back
4) Driven to U of I
5) Watched an Indian movie without fast-forwarding the songs
6) Gotten married with an Indian wedding
On top of it...they didn't even cut it the way we wanted and the pizza was cold
The one star is for giving my my money back, not because Yelp made it mandatory.
I love Papa John's pizza even after moving to Chicago, which has so many good choices. Â
However, I cannot recommend this location. Â On more than one occasion, they have failed to deliver a hot pizza and with in a reasonable amount time (two different times over 60 minutes). Â
There customer service is absent and ability to communicate anything accurate is a complete struggle.
Ordered a pizza here and after one hour the pizza was finally delivered. Â Opened it to find a pepperoni pizza rather than the vegetarian I had ordered. I was able to catch the delivery guy in time and he took the box away- said he totally screwed this up. Â Waited for a call back to see where my pizza was... No call back after 10 minutes so I called the delivery person and he didn't answer. Â Had to call the store to cancel order and the manager was apologetic but didn't seem too surprised... This sort of occurrence must unfortunately be expected from such a low Yelp rating. Â Next time I'll know to avoid Papa Johns.
Review Source:Even after I totally botched my order from a huge miscommunication with my husband ordering online when I thought he ordered via phone, this staff still was amazing. It was absolutely my fault what went down and every single staff member worked diligently to correct my mistake in a timely fashion. Josh (I think was his name and possibly the manager) was so professional and kind throughout the entire process and the gentlemen making the pizza doughs and pizza were great. I felt like I caused them unnecessary added stress from a small mistake but they all were so polite even though they were probably hella annoyed with me.
Kudos guys and keep up the great work!
Isn't their slogan "better ingredients, better pizza...?" Â really, better than what exactly, pizza you find at the bottom of a garbage can? Â
Ordered delivery and they told me it would take 60-90 minutes, ok, seems like a long time, but I'll wait, no rush. Â 110 minutes later, yes, nearly 2 hours for 1 large pizza (I live 2 miles away, I should have just done carry out but was being lazy), it finally came, luke warm, cheese not melted and kind of soggy. Â
Customer service over the phone was non-apologetic and not helpful. Â
If I have a hankering for chain pizza, Dominos beats Papa's hand down.
This Papa John's pizza quality is as good as any Papa John's. They seem to do what they should do as far as pizza quality.
My quibbles? They have a terrible system in store as evidenced by never getting our sauce count correct. It's been three times now
We order extra sauces- they can't get it right. It's not worth having them run them out either.
Delivery time is on the slower side
Needs new management.
But the ovens and ingredients seem to be just fine
I moved in across the street a week ago and have already ordered Papa John's three times. I've ordered three times but have only eaten it twice. The first time I called, Â Jenny answered and something about her tone and her manner of speaking rubbed me the wrong way. When I told her the name of my building (which is literally kitty corner) she snapped that she asked for my address, not the name of my building. Then she tells me that the driver is not allowed to come up to my floor in my building, which judging by other reviews and my doorman, is false. She also said it would take 45 to an hour to walk it across the street, so I told her to forget it.
The other two times my girlfriend and I have ordered take out and waited in their lobby for our pizza. Obviously the way to go. I've been eating Papa John's in various states for years and the pizza is as good here as it is anywhere. Quit being a bitch Jenny.
This place is by far has the worst service I've ever come across. Â Ordered an online pizza at 9 p.m. Â By 9:40, the driver showed up to my highrise building, the doorman said he was coming up. Â No show. Â So I called the doorman 5 minutes later, and he said the driver left. Â Driver never called to tell me why. Â So I called the store, and they said that there was a mixup with the pizza and another would be sent right away. Â After 30 minutes. Â Nothing. Â So I called back again. Â By now it is 10:30. Â 1.5 hours now after I ordered. Â The guy who answered said my pizza was sitting on a shelf and got cold, so they would make a fresh one and deliver it right away. Â Waiting around for 30 more minutes, nothing. Â So I call back again, and the manager (her name is Jenny btw) tells me that the order was never placed again. Â So either people are lying (maybe not) or just lazy and incompetent (most likely). Â She tells me that she will rush the order and make sure the next driver that comes in doesn't leave without my pizza.
I wait another 20 minutes to check in, the manager tells me that the driver has left with my pizza. Â Another 20 minutes go by, now it's just about midnight, so I call again and the lady who picks up tells me that the driver just left five minutes ago. Â I ask if the manager (Jenny) lied to me, and the lady on the phone basically admitted it by saying the driver left 5 minutes ago, although 20 minutes prior Jenny had told me that the driver left.
What a crazy place. Â I'm done with this place for sure. Â I should have read the reviews before ordering here. Â Looks like everyone has nightmares with this place. Â Too bad you can't give a review zero stars because this place deserves it.
By the way, the pizza never arrived. Â Jenny said that the driver was a good guy because he previously served in the military. Â But he didn't pick up his phone when she said she was trying to contact him about where he was. Â And he never showed up. Â 3+ hours and no pizza in the end.
Tonight we ordered a large half pepperoni half green pepper and mushroom pizza. Â A couple weeks ago we ordered a spinach alfredo. Â Our pizzas have not been good. Â We are usually very pleased with Papa Johns, which is why we kept giving you a chance. Â But I don't know what the problem is. Â The pizzas are not very appetizing. Â I think it's a combination of being a little under cooked and the use of lower quality ingredients. Not tasty. Â Your pizza taste like Dominos pizza before dominoes launched their better pizza campaign. Â Not even your yummy garlic sauce can save the pizza. Â Tonight I ate the crust and the hot pepper but threw the pizza away. Â I rarely throw away food that I pay for 5 minutes after I get it. No one wanted it. Â It tastes like 5 day old pizza that you microwave. Â This stuff used to be good but not so much anymore.
Review Source:This is about the 4th time we've ordered here. The 1st time went well, pizza was what you expect and so was the service. However, the past 3 times they always forget something. Â It's ridiculous they charge for red pepper, and then forget to add it in the box. While I understand that you pay extra for sauces, if you're paying extra for sauces it would be nice if they actually included them inside the pizza box, instead of forgetting them or giving you the wrong ones. Sadly, home ranch isn't the same.
They also just today mixed up my order and gave my pizza to someone else, then when I asked if they had to make me another one they said, "we just got your toppings wrong. It's almost ready." Granted they did make another one pretty quickly but at least be honest and clue me into what I already know is going on. Â
So yeah. The service isn't all that great, and  they seem to be very unorganized so I'd be sure to check your order before walking out the door or leaving a friendly tip. Overall, it's papa johns so you're not getting gourmet pizza. But you would think the service would make up for it in some way. Sadly, this one doesn't. Maybe i'll start going to Dominos where they include all my sauces.
Took an hour before I even got a notification that my pizza was on its way.
The driver managed to somehow get lost between 80 E Cermak and 350 E Cermak. Â That's three blocks! Â After three attempts to call him and guide him to the correct corner, he stopped picking up the phone.
Gave up, canceled my order. Â He showed up a few minutes later, told him to get lost.
I figured I would relive my college years and give the new Papa Johns a try! Bad decision. Pulled the menu up online, and called to order a combo we found under "current specials" at that particular location. Girl on the phone said that it was not valid at their location. I asked to speak to her manager, and he said the same thing, and that he would have no way to ring it up that way. False advertising! Any idiot could take a second and pull up online to see, instead he acted as if I was crazy. Needless to say No Papa Johns for us now or never. Pizzeria Brandi for life...
Review Source:Always happy when a new place opens up south of Roosevelt, as the choices aren't as plentiful as the north side.
For as many employees working, they seemed disorganized or maybe so many people running around was a part of the problem. We were greeted right away by a friendly enough fellow and he told us about the specials, then he disappeared while we were deciding, maybe he thought the other guy would get our order, or maybe the other one, or the other one... In any event we just stood there thinking, does anyone want to take our order?
We did order a thin and their regular to give both a sampling, and found the thin to be the better of the two. This is not outstanding pizza, it's pizza that you get in 20 minutes that will get you through wanting some pizza. Â Â Â
Why an A-Ok rating, solely for the long wait to order and for a bit I did think they forgot that we were there waiting on the order. The pizza itself can be a four or even five star review, because they produce exactly what their aim to produce is, this isn't a gourmet pizza, it's a formula.
So get organized, and clean up the area by the door where people walk in, no reason for plastic bags and dirt on the floor. You have all these employees running around, must have been 20 people in there.
Monday night, my husband wanted pizza after work. He decided to stop into  the new Papa Johns on Cermak. This place is a nightmare the girl behind the counter was shaking her ass and talking about her night out on the town.
Pizza- This pizza was the WORST my husband and I have ever tasted and I'm 50 just to let you know how long I've been eating pizza. The first thing my husband said when he arrived home was " the pizza is not good I had a slice in the car on the way home". Â He never lied the sauce was bland the two meats didn't have any flavor it even looked bad. It was so bad we tossed it!! We will never patronize them again.
I love pizza. I was really excited when I saw the Papa Johns in the south loop. It reminded me of my college days. Well,  I was treated to a rude awakening by this place. My husband placed a pre-order for 5pm, it's an option on the website. Well, at 5pm, no pizza. So, we called at 5:35pm to check the order the status. The woman on the phone verified that our order was suppose to be delivered at 5pm. She said to wait an additional 10 min. If the driver doesn't show up, call back. So, we waited 10 min, no pizza. We called Papa Johns, the woman on the phone apologized again. She said she could not contact the driver, because the cell phone was not working nor did the driver check in. She said, she was going to make us another pizza and send us a gift certificate for a free pizza. So, I said fine. At 5:56pm the original pizza arrived, the driver said he got lost. I don't understand considering on Papa Johns website there is map and I only live 10 min away near a major intersection in the south loop?!  So, I refused to accept this pizza because now that food is cold. So, at 6:10pm, I called papa johns to find out the status of our second pizza, the manager told me the driver left 15 min ago, finally at 6:23pm, our pizza arrived. I have never had this many problems with the delivery of food.  The employees seem unorganized. If  the place is not capable of handling pre-orders, then don't make it an option on the website. If your employees are not familiar with the area, then ask for directions. Â
Also, the pizza tasted very sweet, the dough was chewy. This is not the same Papa Johns I remember. The chicken strips were better. I'm was very disappointed by the service and quality of food. Hopefully, these problems will be fixed soon.
My brother got some carryout and my sister brought a slice home and a parmesan breadstick. Even after a few hours and a quick few seconds in the microwave and it was still good.
Pizza - Ingredients tasted fresh and the crust had a soft chewy consistency to it.
Parmesan Breadstick - Very flavorful even without sauce. It is a bit more dense than others, but very good.
Like my sister says "So glad a Papa John's is near us now!"
It's not secret that I secretly love chain pizza, so nice to have a Papa Johns in the neighborhood. Â Good pizza, competitive prices, and GREAT breadsticks. Â They just opened, so they still have a few issues to work out, part of our order was missing when we went to pick it up, but the manager came out and rectified the problem immediately. Â They were busy though and the pizza/breadsticks were yummy. Â Once they get running smoothly, this will be a great location for takeout. Â Welcome to the South Loop Papa Johns and thanks for opening up!
