I really enjoy this place.  It does have a random crowd but I think that's what makes it better rather than a typical stuck up crowd of people hanging out in this lounge bar.  I finally had the chance to try their bar menu and hang out for happy hour and it was rad.  We arrived at 5:30 and it  wasn't crowded and very chill.  They have happy hour from 4-7- 5 dollar margaritas, sangria, appletinis (so sweet but honestly the bomb!) and 3 dollar pints of really decent beer (including their own micro brewed original).  They also do really decent sized 5 dollar appetizers but honestly spend a bit more if you're there during happy hour and go for the "to share appetizers" because the empanadas are so amazing.  The California Chicken sandwich is also a must if you are looking for a more filling meal.  I have gone to a couple of parties on the third floor and the choice of foods were delish.  The penne vodka and wings are definitely a must select if you are picking foods for a private party. Â
The staff is super friendly and our bartender was so accommodating. Â If you go on a Friday night, it will be loud but the DJ's generally play really awesome music and if you're like me and love to dance while having a cocktail, you will surely enjoy it. Â
Try Park Ave Grill--- you will not regret it!
I guess you can say this is one of our regular haunts. It's an upscale sports bar within 5 minutes of home.
It's fun the people watch, since the crowd is usually pretty diverse. The only thing that is kind of a pain is the complete lack of parking in the area - although it's still easier than going to Hoboken,
I haven't eaten here, but the drinks are good and not terribly overpriced.
I used to go to this place often but the one short bartender that is alway there is so rude and nasty that I refuse to go there anymore. I am appalled how he treats customers.
NOT WORTH IT.
They let people smoke in their back room since it's "open", it makes the whole bar stink of smoke. I had to leave.
This is a really nice place. We dined here with the 3 course Groupon and wasn't expecting much. The food was surprisingly good. The swai fillet and short ribs are delicious. Â The cocktails though was ok. We had the mango manhattan and it was too bitter.
The service was pretty good even though they had a large group that night.
My husband and I went here on a Sat night for dinner at 7pm. Â Very classy dining upstairs. Â More of a sports bar atmosphere on the main floor. Â We used a Groupon and had a fantastic 3-course dinner with drinks. Â It's so nice to use a coupon and still be treated like a valued customer. Â The staff kept tabs on us and made sure everything was to our liking. Â We had a warm seat near the fireplace, great service, and the food was delish. Â The only complaint was the parking valet was not in place when we arrived at 7pm, and we had to park several blocks away and walk in the freezing cold. Â Other than that, we had a great evening and will be back for more. Â Very professional staff. Â Thank you! Â P.S. Â We've also been here in the main-floor bar area and had drinks and appetizers. Â Everything was tasty and good portions. Â Try the Mediterranean sampler platter.
Review Source:Great Sports Bar. Food is always fantastic but the fine dining could have a wait staff who is educated in the proper service need for this level. I had to hand my plate to the waiter, it took him too long to serve. Was a little pompous but I still go back because the food and ambience is fantastic so I over look the service.
Review Source:I usually do not write negative reviews however today was the icing on the cake.  My husband and I are Weehawken residents.  The first time we walked  into the Park Avenue Bar & Grill there were no employees anywhere to be found. My family, my husband and myself proceeded to walk to the second and third floors while being passed by multiple employees (who seemed bothered by our presence) and no one offered any type of help and/or service.  We went back to the first floor bar and had to find a bartender and ask for menus ourselves.  There were ZERO people in the bar at the time (it was 5:30 on a Friday).  Fast forward a few months (we visited multiple times since our first visit with slightly better service), and we were excited to take our visitors to the bar today to watch football (not many options in Weehawken).  The bar was supposed to be open at 1:00pm on Saturdays (per website) however when we arrived the doors were locked.  My husband called and his call was answered by an employee.  My husband asked if the bar would be open soon (it was 1:05 at the time).  He jovially told the employee that "there is football on and asked will you be opening soon?".  The rude, sarcastic response he received was "oh thats great buddy, we still open at 2:00".  The employee then immediately hung up the phone on him.  We were not the only patrons waiting to get in to the bar.  People were confused why the bar was supposed to open at 1:00 and was still not open.  Obviously we understand if there was a situation in which the bar had to open later, however that is no excuse to be rude and disrespectful to customers.  It is disappointing because the food is actually decent, and this is one of the only sports bars serving the Weehawken area.  While the food is decent, its sad that the service does not live up to it.  Employees act like the customers are a bother and make no effort to provide an enjoyable experience.  Park Avenue Bar and Grill is not doing anything good for Weehawken/Union City residents. Sad...
Review Source:I like this place. I come here almost every week. Â Good for apps and drinks. Â Try the calamari w the asian kick, or the mussels!
Love Andrew (the bartender). Â Cool kid!
What I don't like this place for is DINNER. Â I think its too overpriced and dinner food is *meh*
Oh, cool outdoor patio for the summers... during the cold days you can still go there but you'll freeze w/o a coat (of course!) *They turn the heat on in the patio for private parties!!!*
Did I mention I love Andrew... the bartender? :-D
Came here with Stephanie L and Chrystie B to pregame the Yelp ish.
Dope bar/lounge/resto for a fancy date/a raging party/a crew-catching-wreck evening.
The decor is very New York-y...like midtown/UES/UWS-esque, except for the NFL football jerseys all over...wtf?
The friendly bartender looked like a typical low-Berg resident...beefed-up, jerZ-accented, Jersey Shore-watching fella.
Boom...$5 vodka sodas...Louis R is in, let the fun begin. Â wait, wha...
I love my people here they are astounding. They make  me feel at home when I'm homeless  But there was this one asshole on the evening of december 2nd at 3PM WHO THOUGHT THE JETS 3rd string would drive them to victory on a 3-0 defecit. AINT NOBODY GOT TIME FOR THAT??!!!!! Great place!! Get the short rib sandwich with au jus...mmmm
Review Source:Disappointing brunch... Â We were the second of two tables but our waiter was terrible and the service took forever. Â The brunch menu was great and reasonable so we were excited to try it but the execution of the food was just ok. Â Worst of all it was all STONE COLD (back to the terrible service, it must have been sitting in the kitchen forever). Â I had shrimp eggs Benedict and the flavor was great but the shrimp were rubbery (from sitting out I guess). Â My husbands omelette was dry as a bone. Â We also ordered stuffed French toast to split and it was raw in the middle. Â The server brought our food and never checked in on us after or I would have sent it back. Â Sad we had to eat cold food, I know mine would have been good if it was fresh.
The atmosphere upstairs is great here though. Â We went here last NYE and liked it a lot; that night we blamed the bad service on the crowd. Â No such excuse thus time.
So, I have been living in Weehawken for almost 3 years now, within walking distance to Park Avenue Bar. Â WHY did it take me so long to try this place out? Â I am ashamed of myself.
It was a Thursday night and we were thinking we would walk to Park Ave for some Indian. Â Then we decided we didn't want to BYOB, so we would try out this place.
Before we went in we checked out the menu outside. Â It looked really good, and it was more than what we wanted for a Thurs night (we wanted casual, menu was a bit upscale), but we figured what the shell, we'd give it a try. Â We walked in around 7ish? to find a half-packed bar. Â They have some high-top tables surrounding the bar. Â The ambiance was very nice and relaxed. Â There were stairs up to the second floor and a door going out the back. Â We were perplexed. Â It seemed like most people there were regulars, which does not surprise me for the area where it is located. Â Really, people don't go out of their way to go out in Union City.
We sat at the bar, and the first thing I asked the bartender was "Whats the deal with this place"? Â He introduced himself, shook my hand and gave me some info. Â Turns out there is a room upstairs with the more upscale menu. Â They have a more bar-ish menu for downstairs (phew). Â Out the back door is a smoking area also with food and beverage service. Â There is also a roof bar, but I think they mostly do private parties?
To start we ordered 2 cocktails. Â Both were tasty and $8 each. Â I think that's a bargain for a cocktail. Â For those who think they charge NYC prices for their cocktails, you obviously don't go to NYC, where cocktails are usually $14-$18. Â
We ordered a Mediterranean plate to start followed by the pizza of the day (prosciutto) and the pork and broccoli rabe sandwich.
The Mediterranean plate was HUGE! Â It had pita, tapenade, red peppers, hummus, and feta. Â All we delicious, esp the tapenade. Â We seriously could have eaten only that dish. Â The prosciutto pizza was delicious as was the pork sandwich. Â The pork was tender and the mustard on the sandwich was delicious.
We ended up taking home half the pizza and half of the sandwich.
My only complaint was that the service was on the slow side. Â Food came out quickly, but it took a while to get drinks, the check, etc. Â They were pretty busy though.
So, we had the 3 dishes, 2 cocktails, and 2 blue moons, and our tab after tip was like $60? Â I think that was a very good price, and the food was very good. Â Great value for money and in walking distance! Â
I will be returning and I apologize to Park Avenue Bar and Grill for not trying them sooner!
To start, THEY DON'T HAVE CHANGE IN THE REGISTER, so if you are paying cash don't expect any coins. The food is overpriced, but I was still going to eat until I found out the change situation. I did have 3 drinks and the bill was 30 dollars?!?!?!??! The only saving grace for this place was the crowd was excellent, very polite and welcoming. I probably will not be going back but if I did it would be to hang with some of the regulars.
Review Source:Great bar, classy look and friendly locals. The bartender on a Sunday and Thursday is awesome. They claim to have a projector screen during football season, so maybe I will try it out one football Sunday/Thursday that I'm not in Hoboken/NYC. There are TVs in the front that are on the smaller size, (watched a yankees' game on these and it wasn't too bad), but to the back they have larger ones. Good food and drinks. Overall a classy place to hang out on the weekend for a few drinks if you're in the neighborhood.
Review Source:Really more like a 2.5 stars.
Food is basic, simple an executed well for mere fact that it was after the normal dinner rush. However, I sat at the bar for quick service and I was wrong to. There was one barback and one bartender... And a lot of friends of the bartender. When I asked a question, he just said he'd come back when I was ready and walked away... Back to his friends. Okay cool, Thanks. Needless to say it took about 20-30 minutes to get him back to the other side of the bar to order, And ignored the couple next to me who waited about 15 minutes with their credit card standing up in their check presenter.
I am in the industry and I know what busy/poor service vs. bad service is. Just plain bad service.
If it weren't for my belly satisfaction, it would be less than 2 stars for me.
I really do like this place! Â It's a nice converted building with a lot of character. Â I was here several times, before and after they changed owners. Â It's mainly a local spot as it is in Union City, so not much parking around. Â My friend lives nearby so we usually walk here. Â It's a casual, but nice place. Â I usually find that the patrons are all friendly and open to conversation. Â Yes, I'm the annoying girl who wants to chat with everyone after a few drinks! Â They have a main bar downstairs with a few high top tables, and outdoor, covered area, with tables and a bar, 2nd floor beautiful dining room, 3rd floor lounge(the zebra bar sold me) area, and a rooftop bar that has never been open when I was there. Â The only reason that I knew these areas of the bar existed was because the bartender or manager at the time was kind enough to give us a tour. Â The place really is cool! Â I understand that they mainly use the upper floors for private parties or weekend dining? They have a very inexpensive happy hour including $3 beers and a small plates menu. Greg the bartender was very friendly. Â They have a nice beer selection, including IPA. Â I have sampled some of the appetizers which were all good, especially the guacamole trio. Â I've heard about the Sunday brunch and would like to try it soon. Â I really have to come here more often!
Review Source:Great for a date night (upstairs), drinks with friends (downstairs). The food is pretty good, but the Sunday BRUNCH is always amazing. Not the best deal in town, but NEVER disappoints, and they do run specials during games (football).
Service is pretty good, bartenders are cool.
This is a great local spot if you're in NJ and don't feel like going into the City. Also very pretty scene for a private event.
Love this place! Haven't been during warm weather, but look forward to going again to experience the outdoor area.
The food is always good, but the drinks are a bit expensive. Â I highly recommend the hummus and their sangria, both are awesome... their french fries are also really good!!
The decor inside is contemporary and fun, but I've always sat downstairs. It's a great spot for date night, although I've never been late enough to see this place get really busy.
I only came here for cocktails... and it served its purpose well! Â
The bartenders were super friendly and personable... full of jokes.
The drinks were strong and good.
The place was beautiful... classy but not pretentious.
I only stayed on the first floor- but can't wait to go back to explore the rest of the place!
Absolutely love the place! the bartenders are super nice! The party planner is awesome! Â So why four stars???? Because what you hear is true! The prices are a bit tooo much for an 07087 zip code. Although, that doesn't stop me from going there! Â The 3rd floor/rooftop is for private parties only. First level is a bar area, very low key, and holds very diverse crowds. 2nd level is dining area, beautiful, but with all the other excitement that can happen here, it's a bit "blah". Ive been to many private parties here, unfortunately all in the winter, and haven't been able to enjoy the rooftop as much as I'd like! The food at this place is over all pretty damn good! From the private party food choices, to the bar mmenu, to the dining menu, I've had it all! Really delish!
Review Source:Would have loved to give Park Ave. 5 stars but NYC drink prices and a tight vertical architecture bumped it down.
Why do I mention the architecture?
Well the place is a pretty decent size, but it is split amongst 3-4 floors. Â The first floor is a nice social little bar area great for some one-on-one time. Â The 2nd is almost non-existent, and the 3rd is the main club/lounge area. Â I have gone a few times, and have yet to make it to the roof-top. Â I've hear it is great, but it has either been too cold, or just right and too crowded.
The music is great, and constantly changing so you don't get too much of any one genre. Â The DJ will play some salsa, merengue, bachata, the follow up with some classic hip-hop, some trendy new pop/dance beats and then toss in something old school just to mix it up.
The drinks are O.K., nothing great. Â Not very expensive, but not cheap either. Â Though they try to push that 'classy' NY lounge/club vibe, you are still in Union City NJ and an $8-10 drink better be strong! Â Nothing wrong with their prices, just don't be expecting an outside-of-NYC-deal.
I'm not a fan of clubs, but Park Ave has enough of a bar/lounge feel to make it more than just tolerable.
One day I'll actually make it to the roof-top, and maybe try some of their food. Â I guess when that happens I'll have to update my review.
One last note - Guys hold on to your ladies coming down the stairs. Â They are a little narrow and tight, so if they're wearing heals, there is a good chance they may take a stumble.
I write this as a prior Park Avenue Bar & Grill fan but will no longer continue to be a patron of a place run by such an arrogant manager. Pretty sure they guy is new. We've had family events including a Sweet 16 where we rented the three upper floors and have frequented the place for birthdays and get-togethers. We WERE even considering having my law school graduation party here. That has since changed.
We thought the Grill was a pretty good choice for NYE - decently priced open bar at $60 and less than a mile from home. We arrived at the bar plastered in signs advertising the $60 open bar but were told it would be $100 by the bar's bouncer. We asked to speak to a manager because we could not believe they would hike up the price because we did not "prepay." Granted, we knew that the place could be full and we might not be able to get in but could not imagine that the price would be hiked for an arbitrary reason.
Well, arbitrary it was. When my brother asked to buy 4 open bars (we were meeting others there too and that would include more open bar tickets as well) and was told it would be $100 each, my brother asked why. The manager said "Because I said so," walked away and that was that.
It's too bad we were meeting a group and had to stay - otherwise we would have gone elsewhere. There's no reason any patron should have to deal with people who lack professionalism. Go run a fast food joint. We decided not to pay for open bar based on principle and it worked out well...we got many of our drinks on your awesome bartenders who are actually schooled in treating patrons with respect. So technically we did get open bar...on your tab! ;)
Ciao! And when I graduate, we will NOT be having our party in your establishment. Because I said so.
I had been here once about three years ago, but I came back just this past week with friends for a midweek dinner. We came around 7:15pm on a Wednesday, and we were the only people in the dining room! The food was slightly above average. I liked the guac trio, my NY strip steak was okay, and the "truffle and garlic" fries I got had no hints of garlic or truffle in them. I tried the creme brulee for dessert and was not impressed.
This immediate area is lacking in good food choices, but I wouldn't go out of my way to come here.
Solid local spot with great staff in the bar. Â Food is reliable and plenty of options. Â
Upstairs is more refined for a sit down dinner. Â Really liked the decor and option to dine outside. Â Food has been really good every time I've been. Â They really took good measure to make this a nice spot to visit.
Great staff, everyone is very attentive and always welcomes us. Drinks are great, LOVE the heated outdoor area that stays open most of the winter.
Food is good, most of the times. The new chef definitely made a huge difference.
Only reason I dont go there more often is that I hate the metal high barstools they have. Not comfortable for my back, want something more cozy after a long day at work. I wish they would have nice outdoor couches outside!!!
Been here a few times for drinks or dinner. Â Food & service are great! Atmosphere is awesome with bar area, outdoor courtyard, formal dinning room and roofdeck. Â Staff is friendly and quick.
Had a birthday party of 26 people and they were able to give us a great price ($63 for 4-course dinner with 2 hours of unlimited wine, beer, sangria) with tip and tax included!
Great place to plan an event or just hang out.
Park Ave sticks out like a sore thumb in Union City, but in a good way. It's definitely the place to go if you're in UC and are looking for a nice bar for drinks and appetizers.
My coworkers and I usually come here for Happy Hour (school hours are awesome!) at 3 PM. We love that it's close, it's nice, and they have good food. The times I've ordered appetizers (and once had Brunch) the food has always been delicious.
The only time I've been to Park Ave when it was the more nightclub feel was for St. Patrick's Day this year. It was very crowded, the music was alright, and really, I just didn't enjoy it. I'm sticking to Happy Hour on Fridays here.
Went there for the first Time Last night. Saturday Night...that is ..and I didn't know what to expect.
Two Friends invited me out so happens One was having a surprise Private Birthday Party .(so i guess the area was Rented) .And the Other Just Wanted to Chill ...so having to invites ..i had to see what the fuss was about.
I took a Cab from 6th and jeff In hoboken,, not bad $12.00 cab ride.
The First Thing i noticed is the Christmas Tree lights that basically surround the place ..it actually looks decent makes the area look especially nice.
Went in an my friends were sitting at the bar for 8pm on a Saturday was pretty crowded. Then my other friend said hey there is a party upstairs.
Didn't Realize this place has 4 unique floors ..so went up to the 2nd floor and it was Amazing place for Dinner just marvelous...chandelier..all the tables were set for a dinner..
So We get upstairs 3rd floor The party was Great there was a DJ which needs to be fired...not sure of the music choice..WHY DO DJS JUST PLAY WHAT THEY WANT TO HEAR....ok argument for another time....think he was hired by the hostess of the party...not sure
There Was a Fire Place with and Actual Fire going on Next to the Dj my friend she said it the best the place has an apartment Feel but doesn't
Ahh the best part is  the roof top..I am a Roof Top Junkie ..it was  awesome there is a bar there too..but not in use was kind of Nippy and I took my Jacket off and gave it to the Lady that was with Me. And you can smoke up there ...and a Nice view of Manhattan which was a nice welcomed Surprise
So I go there With no intentions of Staying long Ended up there till 1am because the party ended but When the Light came on we were instructed that downstairs bar was still open. So im such a Fan of this Place
- Sports bar on the first floor
- Restaurant with a gorgeous chandelier on the second
- Dancing lounge on third
- Rooftop on fourth
What's cool?
DJ on the third floor, heated patio for smokers, Belgium beer (Leffe)
Haven't eaten here yet so look at other reviews. Â For Union City, its a great place. Â Chalk one up to gentrification.
I definitely think this place has a misplaced attitude. Inside, the place is absolutely gorgeous. While practically empty on most nights, their drink menu can sit on the sidelines of the "drink war" and you would not mind. I've been here twice and can't say either time I was exactly pleased or surprised. Being from Weehawken, I'm used to rolling into NYC to find a classy spot and should have known this place would not be it. Their bouncers are a tad rude and won't allow anyone on the 3rd floor or rooftop if you have flip flops (um hello isn't it Summer?) We had a great bartender TJ - he definitely made our night otherwise we would have not stayed. No DJ on Mon - Thurs and no rooftop on those nights either. All in all, if you are looking for a drama free night this is NOT it.
Review Source:This place reminds me of being in Manhattan without having to cross the river. Went there at 8pm on a Wednesday night and we were disappointed that the roof bar area was closed. The second floor restaurant area was open but completely empty. There were about 10 people on the main level in the bar area. We walked out to the back patio which was a small, enclosed area where another 10 or so people were hanging out, some of which were smoking, so we decided to go back inside because we didn't want to sit and eat with people smoking right next to us.
We ordered the Guacamole Three Way which was three kinds of guacamole served with tortilla chips. Grilled pineapple guac, queso y huevo guac, and pico de gallo guac. The grilled pineapple guac was the best of the three, although none of them really had much flavor. If I was blind folded and ask to taste all three, I'm not sure that I could identify which was which. They all kind of tasted alike. Â The Crab And Avocado quesadilla was soft and soggy and came filled with so many ingredients other than crab, cheese, and avocado, that you wouldn't even know that's what it was supposed to be. You couldn't pick it up to eat it, but had to use a fork and knife. The food here was a bit disappointing.
The atmosphere here was really nice. Casual, comfortable, sports bar meets Manhattan lounge. The servers were all very nice, helpful, and friendly.
I would go back to this place if I was in the area again.
My recent visit to Hudson Terrace reminded me of the Park Ave Bar and Grill directly across the river. This place has an attitude, but  in a good way. They took over a year to build it out from an old building; renovating it entirely inside and out. The exterior was redone in a rough-exterior recycled brick that is consistent with its scruffy but elegant personality. The place exudes a confident sophistication, almost out of place for the area, in a good way.
But it's also right across the street from Weehawken, and only a couple blocks from multi-million dollar mansions on the cliffs overlooking the river and midtown.
They were able to squeeze 4 levels into this building, plus an outdoor courtyard bar in the back. You walk in on the first floor into a nice bar, with tables and a casual bar menu. Go up to the second floor to a formal dining room with a full menu and on point service (reservations recommended). Go up to the third level to a comfortable lounge space, with bar. Go up to the fourth level for a roof deck bar with a view of midtown.
Nice crowd. Good food. Good service. Those who feel that this spectacular venue is too nice for them, should stay away. This place is attractive, well put together, with no emotional baggage, and has no insecurities, despite being on west side of the Hudson.
If only you could take it and plop it down in Manhattan near the water, or in soho, then the portions would be even smaller and the prices would be 2-3 times more expensive. The good food, the view, the ambience and the crowd are enough to warrant its' stars.
Feel free to walk over to Blvd East on the cliff, before or after dinner or drinks, for a romantic walk in the park with the city as your backdrop. Think Brooklyn Heights promenade, but close enough to see the people and traffic on 42nd St and the illuminated billboards in Times Square.
From the city take a NY Waterway ferry to Weehawken, or the Blvd East bus from Port Authority to the first stop in Jersey, and walk a couple of blocks. (Go an extra block or two past your stop to see the most amazing view of New York you've ever seen.) They offer ample valet parking, so no worries about parking if you come by car. They've thought of everything.
Great spot! Just had lunch there and really enjoyed the food and atmosphere! The food was average portion (seems like some people were expecting "diner sized") and the quality was great...perfect bloody mary. Â The service could be quicker...if I was pressed for time I would have been pretty annoyed with how slow the wait staff was. Â The patio was really nice, very clean and great sense of style. Â I will be going back to check out the crowd at night. Â
p.s...parking looks like it could be less then enjoyable..so you may wanna walk or cab it!
what's the deal with the photo? seriously????
I really love this place. It is one of the first places in Union City that attracts a more sophisticated crowd. When the place first opened, it looked like it didn't even belong on the Park Ave, but now with all the booming condos around it, I guess it became prime real estate.
This is a perfect date spot, since not only is it a grill, but the bar/lounge area is cozy and trendy. The place's decor is very inviting and festive. Â I know they also host La Ola Art Gallery events here.
I particularly like to come here in the summer time, they have an small rooftop bar that really packs the place. The third floor turns into a lounge with a DJ that plays everything from Spanish to hip hop. In case you would prefer to hold a conversation, the first floor is also a nice bar area and very classy.
Drink prices are very affordable and so is the food. They also have valet parking for those cold weather months.
This is definitely one of my favorite places in Union City. Â Just beware all the stairs they have all over the place- not good for walking drunk in 5 inch heels ...not that I would know about that sort of thing......
