Love!
Came here last night with my family and right away we knew we were in for a treat. While most restaurants or either closed or empty on Monday nights, Peter's was bustling.. at 9 pm no less!
The foccaccia bread is yummy and the owners are super friendly and attentive. We sat outside and they kept coming out to check up on us. I ordered the Chicken Parm with spaghetti (delicious.. not alot of pasta but just enough to get the gist..was very hungry and ended up eating only half, good sized portions). My mom got the Clams with Linguini in red sauce (you can get it hot or low heat, she surprised herself with how hot the 'hot' was..) and my father got the Sunday Gravy (rigatoni with meatballs and sauasage). I thought his was also VERY good. Meatballs are very...meaty? I don't know how to describe them. They were great though.
it's BYOB so bring your own and relax for the night. Simple but flavorful italian food right off of Millburn Ave. Inside ambiance seemed very cozy and comfortable as well. Would def. recommend and come back. It's nice to go to a small, local business where the owners are still very much a part of the daily business.
The only issue we had was the busboy who kept coming and trying to take our plates while we were still eating. I understand that it was just part of good service, but it can be a little much.. Still, if that's the only problem I have at a restaurant ...that's just fine in my book!
This is not bad for a local restaurant in Millburn.
A nice warm atmosphere with informal classic Italian cuisine priced reasonable.
Overall the flavors on all the items from the Pasta with Shrimp to the Veal Sorrentino that I ordered with asparagus instead of tomatoes; a good choice.
Another patron sitting next to me, ordered the Seared Scallops over Cannellini beans that looked great and I will go back to order that only with shrimp if possible. Â Meatballs as a "side" were very good and I ordered them as an appetizer along with the pizza special which was bland. Â The Italian Ricotta cheesecake was also very good even though a little dense.
My one REAL complaint is that the veal was pretty chewy and I might be hesitant to re-order that because of it.
It would also be nice if the waiter dressed "a little" more appropriate as he was dressed more like a construction worker.
