Want to start off by saying love what they did in the remodel. Love the bar and the fact that on a Saturday as a party of 1 I could sit at the bar and read and not feel like I was taking but a valuable table space.
The reason for just two stars is the food was just okay not great and defiantly not worth what I paid for breakfast. I got the broke yoke sandwich with bacon and avocado. The eggs were over cooked( no runny goodness) and there was no seasoning on them, 1 piece of bacon, 2 avocado slices and there was just a lot of bread which wasn't all that tasty. The frites were okay a little soggy but the sauce that came with them is really good. The Bloody Mary was amazing, but how can you mess that up when you are using Hoosier momma Bloody Mary mix.

All in all the service and drinks were great something I would probably come back for.

Cafe Patachou for lunch and Petite Chou for dinner - don't judge me.....

I feel like people generally know about Cafe Patachou but for whatever reason people (OK....., me) don't really know much about Petite Chou.

My daughter and her boyfriend were down from Chicago and she found Petite Chou on-line and so we decided to give it a try.  They have the "petite" thing down.  Small but comfortable and inviting.  I feel like this restaurant probably has as many regulars as Cafe Patachou. I now understand why.

Our group of seven tried the cheese tray and the mussels appetizers - great success - a nice combination with the Triton Magnificent Amber.

I had the Goat Cheese Salad and the Petite Chou Croque - had to try the namesake dish.  Just the right amount of dressing on the salad, fresh and interesting combination of greens and two crostini with just the right sized layer of toasted goat cheese on top - go, now, get it - you'll be glad you did and you'll thank me......

I really enjoyed the Croque - it was ENORMOUS - ham, cheese, more cheese, deliciously toasted (grilled?) bread, more cheese, Dijon, more cheese.  Oh, did I tell you there was cheese (but no "tte") on my Croque?

We all shared two of the crepes for desert - perfect way to end the evening.

I was generally impressed with the staff except for our waitress - maybe she was just having a bad day but she seemed a bit cold, didn't smile even once which seemed odd since everyone else that worked there seemed really warm and pleasant!  It didn't detract from the meal or the overall experience - it was just odd.

Anyway - go - you'll understand why Martha Hoover is being considered for a Charles Beard Award.

A fabulous spot to go in Indy when you want to feel all fancy-like, in a French Provincial sort of way. I left our brunch determined to cover my apartment in embroidery, start a vegetable garden, and buy a Monet print.

Everything at Petite Chou was soooo fresh! I enjoyed my smoked salmon tartine, though I do wish I had chosen something less simple, something that would've really showcased what Petite Chou can create. Mais, c'est la vie.

I tried my sister's Tomato and Artichoke soup, which was delicious, but the little minx wolfed down the chicken salad tartine she got with the combo before I could try it! The Pomme Frites were tasty too, but I think the brunch cocktails really stole the show for us boozers. I was pleased as champagne punch to have more bubbly options than the standard mimosa, and the Lavender did not disappoint!

Speaking in the terms of classic French understatement, the Petite Chou was "pas mal".

My husband and I heard great things about Cafe Patachou and I mistakingly thought this was the place everyone was raving about.  We went here on a Sunday at around 11:30 and had to wait about 45 minutes.  Yes, that is a long wait, but they had a coffee bar and sadly, that is the one thing that kept me there! And I am so glad we waited!

The food and service was wonderful. The place is quite small and we had our 4 and a half month old with us in her carseat.  The staff was so accommodating and even let us switch tables when a larger table opened up after we had already been seated.  Foodwise,  I would suggest you get "Everyone's Favorite Omelette" which is truly delicious and get the side of frites because they are amazing (and so is the dipping sauce...horseradish, I think.)  Also, their chocolate dessert crepe is to die for.   The only reason I gave the restaurant 4 stars was because of the wait time and the size of the place.  Will we go back? You bet we will! :)

While visiting we came here for brunch on Saturday and thoroughly enjoyed our experience. First off, our waitress was PHENOMENAL! She gave such great suggestions, and was lively in conversation with us.

We started with an order of the duck fat fries and they were delish. They are served with a great dipping sauce and I would say we polished them off in about two seconds. For my main, I ordered the Salad Nicoise and it was very good. I thought I could have been given a bit more tuna, but it was cooked perfectly and the greens, tomatoes, olives and potatoes were great. My sister had the Smoked Salmon Tartine and I snuck a bite and it was very fresh and tasty. My other sister had the Ratatouille Crepe and it was much heartier than I thought it would be, but had tons of veggies in a red sauce. It was very good. Lastly, my mom had the Croque Madame and you just cant go wrong there. Two thick pieces of bread with ham and smothered in cheese with a sunny side up egg on top...does it get much better?!

We all ordered a fun cocktail to start. I had the Bellini, my sister ordered the blackberry, but quickly decided she didnt like it and got something else. Our wonderful waitress didnt charge us for the drink and let us each share it since it was going to waste anyway. My mom ordered the mimosa and my other sister the lavender. I must say, they have such a fun and inventive prosecco cocktail list.

I loved this place and if I lived in Indy, I would probably be there every chance I got. Definitely check it out if youre in the area.

Review based on lunch -can't wait to go back for breakfast and dinner.

This is one of those restaurants you visit and you wished you owned it. Fresh, fast, fabulous French(ish) food. The inside isn't huge, but is adorable. French style chairs; clean; uncluttered bar; beautiful menu. I loved that most of the dishes come with lightly dressed greens - very Parisian. The vinaigrette needed a touch of citrus, but I should have just asked for a lemon.

All entrees are huge and could have made 2 meal. Food is so good I ate everything up like a pig breaking fast. Salads are beautiful and served with huge house made croutons. Chopped Cobb and Spinach Salad Patachou were perfectly balanced. Not too much of any ingredient. That tomato artichoke soup everyone is clamoring on about is worth clamoring on about. So much so, we are on a mission to replicate it at home.

The broken yolk and croquet sandwiches are bonkers. Huge pieces of brioche. The best cheeses. Meat I am not afraid to eat. Please don't balk at the $10 price tag. Have you priced out a loaf of brioche lately? I could have stopped at this point but had to continue . . .divine chocolate pot de crème. Will you marry me?

Tip - we got here just an hour before closing on the weekend. Only waited 5 minutes for our table. Our server treated us like we were the first ones to walk through the door. I am ready, willing and able to keep going back and eat my way through the whole menu.

Great to see this caliber of cuisine in Indy!

Since a good friend of mine has relocated here, we've been investigating the food scene in Indianapolis, and I have to say Petite Chou knocks it out of the park! We stopped in for a late lunch on Monday and everyone in our party was beyond pleased with their meal.

I had the broken yolk sandwich on brioche with my eggs scrambled (they have to be cooked) and cheese, bacon and avocado-it completely melted in my mouth! Yummo!

The tomato and artichoke soup was a hit as well as the lemon tart and chocolate mousse type dessert (this had a whipped cream topping with salt) we all shared.

I'd like to try the salads at some point, but as for now the broken yolk sandwich (with scrambled eggs) left such an impression I will be stuck on that.

Our server was delightful and a great help with the menu!

    Can't wait to return!

I have been to this lovely restaurant on many occasions before the flood damage. Other than the stifling interior, I always enjoyed it. The renovation has made the space a bit more inviting in the way of air quality (before, the open kitchen filled the tiny space with smoke) though it is still very, very small.

The Croque Madame is fantastic. The duck fat frites are as well. The omelette quality here seems to be a bit more standard than the Patachou locations. At Patachou, they take on a cloud-like fluffiness. Not so here. Still good, not great.

Who knocked over a chair in front of the Queen of the Cafe Patachou empire? This girl. Yes, I'm sorry, Martha.

This was maybe my fourth or fifth visit to Petit Chou and I walked in with one food in mind: cheese (this is a common theme in my food palette). It didn't matter what cheese they had on hand, I was going to partake either way. You could call this meal, The Last Supper. It was the final meal for my friend and I before starting our 3 day Natural Born Juicers juicing cleanse. To be clear, you're supposed to eat healthy and ease yourself into the cleanse; however, this idea didn't settle to well with us. I went 50/50 on healthy/not-healthy options by ordering the Gruyere mac n' cheese and veggie quionoa salad. My friend, pulled out the big shots with the hamburger and truffle oil fries.

Quionoa salad: If only this could come as a bottomless bowl. Edamame, crunchy corn and several other refreshing additions. Can't wait to return for seconds.

Mac n' cheese: I've become a bit of a mac n' cheese snob over the last few years and can't help but internally poo poo at Velveeta mac n' cheese when other quesos like goat, gouda and gruyere are calling my name. Cavattapi noodles with plentiful cheese in Petit Chou's version. I did add a dash of salt and pepper, but I'd rather it be me adding than them using too much.

Only bummer: I wrongly remembered Petit Chou carrying the infamous Matilda/Augustus-sized ("Eat the cake, Augustus!") coconut cake. I know I shouldn't have had room for dessert, but like I said, it was our Last Supper.

This place has quickly become my favorite breakfast  / brunch spot. The restaurant itself is so cute and makes a nice atmosphere to relax and enjoy a meal. I prefer the back room.

The coffee is great, and their cappuccino's are spectacular. I have also sampled their lavender and hibiscus flavored prosecco's. HOW COOL. The lavender comes out in a this delicious shade of pale, pale purple and its delicious. I preferred the hibiscus however, as it is bright pink and has an actual hibiscus flower blooming in the bottom of your glass. Their bloody mary's are pretty delish as well.

Their food is exquisite. I have tried the duck fat frites, which was scrumptious with the dijonnaise dipping sauce on the side. I had the "Petite Chou" omelette the first time, and it was so good. 3 huge eggs hugging what tasted like homemade ricotta, delicious bacon, and some other stuff I cannot even remember.

This past time, I had the Croque Madame, and oh my goodness, it was everything I could have wanted and more. Two pieces of crispy, crusty bread with Smoking Goose ham (which was fried up like bacon) and dijon mustard, with gruyere cheese and a sunny side egg on top. That was so good it should be criminal.

It came with a lightly dressed and simply field green salad on the side, which I found to be the perfect balance to the heavy entree.

I cannot wait to go back and try some of their other options!

I fell in love upon entering this CUTE little restaurant. I fell even more in love upon seeing the menu.

The thing is, I had a long day/night of traveling before arriving in Indianapolis. I was on a trip here when I visited in March to scope out the future city I would be calling my new home for the next 4 years (my husband got into the IU Law School in Indy).

My mom and I had read good reviews for Petite Chou online. So we were pretty excited to try it. Especially after the disgusting food we had at the Detroit Airport.

We weren't disappointed. It was delicious. We decided to split a bunch of plates. We ordered the duck fat frites, a pear goat cheese salad, and a crepe complete (with bacon, duh.)... and my mom had the lavender champagne cocktail. It was SO good. Seriously, everything we ate was delicious. We then decided to really go all out and have the fresh fruit crepe with creme anglaise. YUM.

Not to mention, this location was adorable. The green paint. Cute wall art. Patterned banquets. Little chandeliers. Patio. I was in LOVE. :)

I know it's currently closed... but I will be back. Again, and again.

I was very sad to learn that this location was damaged in a recent flood. Thankfully they are reopening in Sept. 2012!

My husband and I would stop in for breakfast on Saturday or Sunday mornings before visiting the shops in Broad Ripple. I first fell in the love with the decor. Green is my favorite color, so the combination of wall color, mirrors, furniture, drapes, etc. made me want to go home and remodel my dining room.

Then I ate the food! My favorite dish is the Broken Yolk with Bacon on Sourdough with a side of fruit. The freshness of all the ingredients is why we continued to go back. I could eat an entire loaf of their sourdough bread without thinking twice. The bacon is thick, but perfectly suited for the sandwich. I eat mine with a knife and folk so that I can use the second piece of bread to soak up all the leftover yolk.

I'm sure the other items on the menu are great, but I'm a creature of habit and love this sandwich too much not to get it.

Food is always great.  It is just a little spendy, but well worth the money.  I will say, it is very loud and crowded during peak hours and people are on top of each other, so it not the place for a quiet and serene weekend brunch.  However, if you can go on a weekday or don't get agitated by a crowd, then def check this place out!

I've done breakfast and dinner at this place in less than 24 hours of each other.  This place is one of the best restaurants in broad ripple.  The food is great... chicken paillard and chicken crepe... egg white omelets... great st. germain cocktails... phenomenal service... great atmosphere any time of day.  Did I mention the patio is dog friendly?  It doesn't get much better than this in broad ripple.  I wish there were more places like this in broad ripple and in Indianapolis in general.

Love this place! Go to it a lot. We live in Broadripple & it is probably our favorite restaurant there. Get the David's/Chicken Pillared for dinner (it's not on the menu anymore, which is insane, but they will still make it for you and for dessert the Nutella Crepe if you still have room in your stomach for dessert. Hehe. We get our
Crepe to-go :). You can sit outdoors under their chandeliers on a beautiful night and they allow dogs on the patio!  My favorite restaurant...oh and a bonus get the Hibiscus Champagne.  I saw some reviews how it is a bit pricy, but the chicken pillared and Nutella crepe mentioned above cost me about $23, which came with bread for the table and a salad!

Love this place any time of day, but it is the best place for breakfast in Indy.  Every single thing I've ever had here was ridiculously good.  They even make a tasty bloody mary, and I usually do not like those.  Can't go wrong with their omelettes, and they also come with delicious bread and fresh fruit.

Petite Chou has been a wonderful addition to Broad Ripple's restuarant scene.  The menu offers some what of a variety, but everything has been very tasty thus far.
I really recommend the Croque Madame and Croque Monsieur and usually the omelette of the day is pretty good.  If you've never had a croque sandwich and are hungry, please do try!  The crepes have always been prepared well,  but I would suggest getting them only if you aren't that hungry or want to keep room for a dinner later.
The coffees are always from quality growers and being a "coffee bar" you get to walk up and choose your own coffee and refill at your leisure.
Service there has definitely been super and the waitstaff is usually very friendly.  Go any time of year, but there's something amazing about sitting on the porch area in late spring that makes this place one of my favorite brunch spots.
    Highly recommend!

A year since my last review of this place and I'm happy to say...it is just as good as the first time I came here.  While I've been back several times, I am still impressed.

My daughter and I came here after walking her dog at Eagle Creek.  I love Broad Ripple restaurants...so many of them have patio seating and they encourage you to bring your dog.  Since my daughter's dog isn't as well-mannered as most dogs that I've seen here, we choose a table away from other dogs.  Fortunately, the family that sat at the next table happened to be dog-lovers and didn't mind Pancho's antics.  Our server brought him a bowl of water and some dog biscuits.  Nice touch!

My daughter had the "Omelette of the Day" and I had the "Everybody's Favorite" omelette.  Both came with fruit and I also had the cinnamon toast.  Pancho shared our breakfast and we left full.

Obviously there are less expensive breakfast places, but I'd choose Petite Chou over the others any day of the week.  Friendly staff.

    Highly recommended.

Definitely a go-to breakfast spot in Broad Ripple.  Can be a bit of a wait if you are crawling out of bed after 10 a.m. but with the outdoor seating and the canal nearby (not to mention ice cream and fro-yo a short walk away) it's hard to get impatient.

The Croque Madame was excellent. Their bechamel sauce? C'est très magnifique.  as was the Caprese Salad, Broken Yolk Sandwich and the St.-Germain-themed section of their cocktail menu.

I honestly can't remember how my wife and I ended up here the first time, but I know why we kept going.

The food here doesn't follow the traditional, American breakfast/lunch.  To me it has a lighter, European feel to it.  Some of my favorites have been the Bruce's Granola (Housemade with sundried cherries, raisins, almonds and toasted oats.) and the Broken Yolk sandwich with Salmon (Two fried eggs and premium, naturally smoked salmon on your choice of buttered toast. Served with a cup of fruit .  This is another fantastic "foodie" location in Broad Ripple (see my other reviews for Brugge Brasserie and Chef JJs Back Yard).

Staff friendly, restaurant and restrooms are always clean.

This location is busy most of the time, so there can be a wait.  However, once you have gotten a table, and your food, the wait will be a distant memory.

    Bon Appetit!

The Broadripple location is always busy. There isn't a "waiting" area, so it isn't uncommon to have people standing right next to your table.

The food is incredible.  Everything is fresh and mouth watering.  I order the croque monsier and it is gooey, soft, melty, cheesy, savory  goodness. It's paired with a dainty salad that balances it perfectly.  I also can't ever escape without a fresh berry crepe topped with creme anglais, whipped cream and sugar. SOOOOOO GOOOOOOOOD!!!!!!!!!

Great cold-weather comfort food.  Slow business day in between meals, but the service and food were spot-on, as always.
A full-meal worthy croque monsieur and roasted tomato soup were some of the best I've had.

Patachou is the one place I make my sister take me to whenever I visit Indy and this past visit, she took me to this Petite Chou location to mix things up a bit. We went on a Sunday morning right in between the breakfast and lunch crowd so seating wasn't a problem and sat in the patio area which was cool and gorgeous. Like other locations, service was exceptional and I don't know what their lace their orange juice with but it was gone within three sips. But I couldn't visit and not have their coffee, it's out of this world! I am always sure to buy a bag so I can take home with me and try to make it last for as long as possible. Props to them for selling it on site.

I love the smaller menu they offer here so you aren't in selection overload and  that can get fresh fruit as a side that is actually fresh. I finally tried their Broken Yolk Petite Chou and it lived up to the hype I've been hearing for many years. Mushrooms and Brie make my heart smile and my belly full. I'm tempted to try dinner there during my next visit but am afraid it won't live up to the wonderfulness I had this past visit.

This is a perfect place for Sunday brunch - especially if you can get a seat outside. The food is fresh and well made. I'd call the menu "new American" or something like that. Most dishes are served with fresh fruit that includes in season strawberries, pineapple, blueberries, oranges and grapes. My broken egg sandwich (with cheddar and bacon) was delicious. The Croc Madame is authentic. You can likely get avocado's added to almost everything! Oh yeah - ratatouille is on the menu all the time.

Coffee is serve yourself which is good for me since I would rather get my own than wait 30 seconds for a refill. And, the service quite good. It was steady, but there was no rush even though there was a bit of a wait for people to be seated.

What a great place on a beautiful summer day.

Craveworthy!  I've never been to a place that I could crave toast- thick slices with butter.  I went everyday in the morning for weeks just for slices of toast & some fruit.  The menu item you have to try is the Croque Monsieur.  Fantastic- it's tastiness is directly in proportion to how full you'll be when you finish.  This cozy little place is unique and locally owned.  There's free wi-fi & you can dine al fresco with your animal companion.

If you want something less heavy the soups are delicious & so is their egg white omelet menu.  Hmmm.  I should stop reviewing because I need to be there now...

As a fan of Cafe Patachou, I had to try Petite Chou. It became our favorite place to walk to when we lived in Broad Ripple. I love the French flair of the menu, and how there are many familiar items, but substitutions and additions to go along the French bistro theme. The atmosphere is even better than the Cafes - simple, a little trendy, and very relaxed. I actually like the Broad Ripple location best out of every Patachou location, especially the shaded outdoor areas. The food has always been outstanding, and I've never had an issues with service at any Patachou locations. Petite Chou is a pretty safe bet if you love Patachou, and a definite on your to-do list if you haven't tried either. I haven't had a chance to do dinner yet, but it also looks outstanding.

We tried Petite Chou after frequenting Patachou several times. The food was amazing, as to be expected. We tried the cheese plate, which was interesting and the cheese choices were very interesting. Our brunch food was also excellent.

The downside to the Petite Chou is its service. While we were there, it took forever to get everything -- drinks, food, check. Maybe it was an off day, but it was a definite downside.

They do have a nice outdoor seating area, and the interior design is very fun! It's a great atmosphere to enjoy some food.

I've been to Petite Chou's brunch several times because it's close to my home and my friends love some of their dishes. I haven't had anything I absolutely loved: I've tried a few of the omelettes & crepes, but they're nothing spectacular. Today's meal was inedible (both times they brought it out), and the service was subpar, with a busser and server treating me like I had no right to expect an edible meal.

The thing I enjoy most at Petite Chou (until today) is the croissant French toast. Typically it's a little burnt around the edges, but usually tastes good. Today, however, it was completely gooey in the middle and burnt around the edges - in other words, inedible.

We'd waited to get a table for over 30 minutes, which was okay because it was a nice day. But once we were sat, it took another 10 minutes or so for our server to acknowledge us. I knew they have self-serve coffees, but it was packed inside with people waiting, and when I asked for a coffee to drink, the server bluntly said "you can get it yourself inside." At previous meals when I requested coffee, the server politely brought it to me with the other ordered drinks.

So when I finally received my croissant French toast after waiting over an hour for it, I was disappointed with its gooey yet burnt consistency. I waited about 5 minutes for our server to come out and ask us how the meal was so I could let her know about mine, but she didn't return, so I took the plate inside. No servers were around, so I asked the busser if I could get a remade plate. He snottily told me a server would have to help me, and luckily one showed up, though it wasn't our table's server. I started explaining the problem with the meal to her, when our server walked up, took the plate and walked away without even saying anything to me or listening.

A few minutes later, she brought what I thought was a new plate out. But the croissants were cooked exactly the same, and I think were the exact same ones I tried before. Our server didn't come to our table again until she brought our checks. She looked at my plate and said "not good either?" I told her they were cooked exactly the same way, and she said "no they weren't - this time they put them in the oven." I said, "It's still gooey & burnt, and I've had this several times before and it was delicious." She rudely said "well, they're always cooked the same way." She was very snarky and rude and apparently doesn't know the first thing about customer service; ditto for the host or busser who told me he couldn't help me with my problem when I couldn't find our server.

I understand that people have bad days, and that negativity can be accentuated when a server is very busy. But the fact of the matter is that they're providing a service and are being paid for it, and if they don't want to show the slightest concern toward their customers, they probably shouldn't be working in the service industry.

I might go back to Petite Chou in the future if my friends insist, but for my money, time, and taste, there are plenty of local eateries whose staff and owners would appreciate my business - and I would appreciate them in return.

This place was great!  It made me feel like I was back in Portland (except for the service).  The service was excellent here.  No snarky waiters.  No long wait (even though they were really busy).  Our coffee cups were never empty, even though we were constantly drinking their wonderful house blend.

I got my first broken yolk sandwich here.  I don't quite remember what it was, but I think there was some brie on it.  And, unlike the Patachou on Washington, you can have your broken yolk sandwich made on brioche here.  It was a pretty good quality brioche.  Also, the fruit cup that came with the meal was great!  The fruit was very fresh and of a good quality.  I usually hate fruit cups.

This location is also very dog friendly.  Water bowl (free) and other doggy treats are on the menu.

I heart Petite Chou. I've come to realize that atmosphere means a whole lot to me, and this place has more than enough to spare. If you can, I highly recommend sitting on the patio underneath the awning--there are little crystal-looking chandeliers out there! Outside!!! How cute is that?!

Cuisine-wise, Petite Chou will forever nestle fondly in my heart as the place where I was first introduced to rooibus tea, a saving grace for those of us who can't have real tea. The rest of the food (the actual food, that is) is great, too--I especially love the crepes with fruit and chocolate. I haven't had the omelettes myself, since I can't ever resist ordering from the fantastic selection of sweet stuff, but friends have certainly enjoyed them. In fact, I've had only good experiences here, and everyone I've brought along has felt the same. Quaint decor and delicious nummies--Petite Chou wins! My favorite place for breakfast in Broad Ripple.

I've reviewed Patachou as a whole entity before, but because they pretend this place is different, I'll write it another review, also I have a bad experience to get off my chest.

So they have pretty much the same stuff on the menu. The difference basically is crepes and they all the sandwiches Tartines. The atmosphere here is similar to the downtown location, but they have an awesome patio, with a small heated corner in the back.

As for my bad experience, my server was so incredibly bad I contemplated leaving her a note and a nickel. I have no idea what her name was because she never said hello. It took her a good 10 minutes to get to my table, I watched the watch. When she came by she took my order, which I got wrong. I never really saw her until the bill came. My saving grace that helped fix my order and get the things I needed was a super attentive and very polite busser. Normally I won't ask a busser for anything because I hate when people in my restaurant ask the busser for things, but all I can say is thank God he was there.

Petite Chou's food could be mediocre, the service so-so and the prices higher and I would still be a customer. Okay, maybe I wouldn't be so keen if pricers were higher :-)

The point is, this place has everything a great cafe needs - great, attentive staff, awesome location whose appeal was maximized by someone who understands the concept of a French cafe and the food...well, the food speaks for itself. This category was a bit of a "no brainer" given the legacy of the Cafes Patachou. And, for the amount of food you get - I can rarely finish a tartine combo - the price is right!

The ultimate draw for me is the outdoor seating. I hate to say it, but I couldn't describe Petite's interior if my neck were on the block awaiting the guillotine! I love eating on the patio and so does everybody I take to this restaurant...doesn't get any better on an Indiana "good weather" day!

(Sigh) How I wish Bistro de Paris in Carmel was more like Petite....maybe a second location is on the horizon. Mais oui!

One of Broad Ripple's (and Indy's, for that matter) top breakfast and lunch spots, Petite Chou is a child of the popular Cafe Patachou. Located along Westfiled Blvd, next to the canal, this contemporary American cafe has deliciousness swarming around the place.

Definitely start off with a cup of coffee or an espresso drink, if that's your style. The caffeine products here are awesome! The omelettes are outstanding, all of them. You have such an amazing choice of unique, fresh ingredients, that you'll have a hard time deciding what you want.

Their style is definitely NOT greasy spoon. Rather, their approach is to feed you well prepared dishes with fresh ingredients, in proportions that don't stuff you too full. Similar to it's predecessor, Cafe Patachou, pretty much everything on the menu is amazingly tasteful and worth ordering. I prefer to eat omelettes, but everything here is great.

Park in the slotted spaces along Westfield. The place gets really busy on weekends at brunch.

This is such a great little place.  The atmosphere is fantastic, the food is scrumptious and it's reasonably priced as well.

I wouldn't recommend large groups unless you get there early.  This place gets really busy.  The patio seating is nice, but I went in the winter when it was too cold to sit outside.

I highly recommend the Hippie with a Benz.  DELICIOUS!

Here's why this place gets 4 stars even though the service was atrocious- there is nothing better than sitting outside on a sunny Sunday morning having brunch with friends!!
We were seated right away but the service was super slow.  Slow to be acknowledged, slow to take our orders and even slower to get our food.  We didn't mind too much because the atmosphere and company was great.  I ordered the granola with yogurt & fruit and when it finally came, it was delicious.  Perfect amounts of everything and it was just what I needed to start the day off right- filling without making me feel full.  One friend got the oatmeal with granola and my other friend got an omelet.  Everyone enjoyed their food, but our server forgot my friend's side of fruit and my other friend had to ask 3 times before she got coffee.  Water also wasn't replenished until you asked for it , and even then it still took awhile to get some.  When we finally got our check, the waitress apologized profusely for the bad service and wanted us to know that it is normally not that slow there.  While we did notice the slow service, again, the beautiful morning and the great company did little to dampen our experience.  I also loved the fact that Petite Chou is dog friendly and our waitress brought out a  bowl of  water for my tired pooch.
There seemed like a pretty decent wait for a table by the time we left, so I recommend going on the earlier side of brunch if you aren't a fan of waiting for your breakfast.
I'm sure if you hit it on the right morning when all the stars are aligned, this is a 5 star place.  I'll wait until that morning before I throw in the extra star.
