Cocktails, Bloody Mary bar, bowling and bocce oh my!!!!
I recently discovered Pinstripes' brunch, and holy wow I'm glad I did. It's around $20 for all you can eat from 10-2. They have a whole smoked salmon, a chocolate fountain, BYO omelets and scrambled eggs, bacon, waffles....
For $5 they have a BYO bloody mary bar as well. They have the option for just absolut or absolut peppar.
Ask your server/bartender for a red Pinstripes wristband and you get a complimentary glass of red or white wine when you come in.
The bowling lane I was in kept malfunctioning which was annoying, but they were prompt in fixing it. Full service at the lanes as well for food and drinks.
Pinstripes is a great concept in dire need of great execution. I was planning a little family get-together and my kids and mom mentioned that they wanted to go bowling. I had heard about Pinstripes from a coworker and thought that this was exactly what I was looking for.
Our party of seven arrived during the brunch buffet. We all had it, and it was great. The variety was impressive and the quality of the food was high. I'm not a big buffet guy, but I would possibly consider going back to Pinstripes for that... Two stars for decent food...but Pinstripes isn't supposed to be about just the food.
As we were finishing up our meal, the hostess stopped at our table asking if we still wanted to bowl (we had a reservation for that as well). Yes, we did want to bowl! "Great, we will get a lane ready for you". 10 minutes later she placed us in a lane that contained tables that were filled with dirty dishes. When we asked to move to a clean spot that was open, we were told, "no, there's a baby shower scheduled for those two lanes". We then asked them to clean up the spot that they gave us so we could try to enjoy ourselves.
After waiting a while for cleanup, the bowling began. Supposedly, we got wait service while gaming, but I had to ask three times to get someone to help us. We didn't get any service until our fifth frame of the game. Even worse, the baby shower was loud and obnoxious, taking up all of the free space in the bowling area...including one of the two couches and the one table dedicated to our lane... and they were not even bowling.
Lastly - the bowling lanes were constantly malfunctioning. We bowled two games and "maintenance" had to come over four times to fix the equipment. Looking around, that was the rule - everyone had issues with the equipment all afternoon. The maintenance guys were very busy.
In order to make this type of experience work, service and facilities have to be top-notch, and they where not. Especially considering the premium that they charge. I was very disappointed with our experience, and slightly embarrassed that I chose Pinstripes for a family get-together. The decent food was the only redeeming quality. I do not plan on going back for bowling but might consider the brunch buffet again.
Paired with the delicious rosemary and parmesan fries, the eggplant, portabello and roasted pepper sandwich here is to die for! It is easily one of the best sandwiches I have ever had the pleasure of eating!
While the service here is often a bit slow, the food more than makes up for it. Just be prepared to wait a little bit for refills.
I haven't checked out the bowling and bocce before, but will definitely be doing that sometime in the near future. Again, though, the food alone is well-worth going here for!
I am so sorry to have to give Pinstripes a low rating and a bad review this trip.
First, I know I'm going to get blasted by my friends who are pet lovers. And yes, I know I was sitting outside. Â However, restaurants are one place I do not expect to see pets.
I was having dinner with friends tonight, and halfway through dinner, we heard a dog bark, but didn't think anything of it. Â When I looked up, I noticed a dog at the table next to ours.
We hastily finished our dinner and got out of there. Seriously, what were they thinking? First, Fido may be a member of the family, but really? You can't leave him home or in the car for a meal? And what was the restaurant thinking allowing it?
Like I said, I'm a big fan of Pinstripes, so I'm really disappointed in this dining experience.
I was here for a private function with a conference actually and the place was great. We bowled and hung out at the bar and then had a sit down dinner. One of the nice things about it was how airy and bright it was inside as well as all the outdoor seating - it was a gorgeous Septemeber day so that was a nice option, plus at night they had firepits to keep you warm. The bowling was fun and the dinner was a delicious caeser salad with a few different entree options passed around family style (grilled baby back ribs/mashed potatoes, penne pomodoro and a one other shells dish that escapes me but it was very good). Overall, a great experience and I'd recommend. Service was terrific too.
Review Source:We've been to Pinstripes many times and have yet to bowl or bocce. We go there for the  lovely setting, the delicious food, the attentive service and the good value. Â
We've always found the staff to be friendly and caring. Our food is consistently fresh and well prepared. Their wine list is good and the BIG windows and that broad deck are wonderful setting, day or night.
Whether it's dinner, lunch, brunch or happy hour, we've appreciated having Pinstripes as an affordable option not far from home. I've been spreading the word, and will continue to do so.
Well the food here isn't that special; fairly tasty if generic pizzas, pastas and salads.
With that said, the event space is so fantastic, I would be back in a heartbeat. Â There is just an absurd amount of space, and they have ample bocce courts, bowling lanes, and general mingling areas that are perfect for large parties.
And finally... Surly Furious on tap.
Beautiful outdoor fire pit, cool views, next to a water walkway, Bowling and Bocce...come on what else could you ask for? Loved the chicken avocado flatbread. Our young family had a blast! However the price will keep us from visiting very often, ended up being a pretty spendy lunch for the 5 of us. However, when looking for a place with a little fun, yet romantic elements, to take my wife on date night, perfect.
Review Source:I've hosted several large corporate events at Pinstripes and my last experience there was such a nightmare that I won't host any more events there.
First, as others have pointed out Pinstripes is expensive and there are far better places to drop a bunch of money if you're looking for a nice meal out. Â Yes, the service is snotty, you're in Edina and they know it. Â However, for corporate events, convenience and execution are far more important than cost, and Pinstripes had been a good spot. Â The food was consistently good (nothing inspired but I would still call it above average) and with groups of 25-50 people I've been impressed with the service.
But at the last event they completely messed up our bill, to the tune of over $1,000! Â We were hosting a private dinner of about 30 people. Â What they didn't tell me was that there would be another private party in the next room, and they didn't have any way to keep the groups' bar tabs separate! Â Our final bill included dozens of mixed drinks that we hadn't ordered--our group only ordered beer, and we had preordered bottles of wine on the table. Â By their math each person in our group would have had to have 4-5 drinks in addition to the wine on the table, which just wasn't the case at this early evening, weeknight, work-related event (and we were only at the bar for an hour before sitting down to dinner.) Â There were even 39 sodas on the bill--for 30 people, riddle me that.
Here's the kicker--when I raised the issue with the hostess, she agreed with me that our bill didn't make sense and she assured me that they would make it right. Â But when the issue was elevated up to the manager and eventually to the owner, they refused to credit us for the drinks in question. Â The manager even told me that the reason they wouldn't was because they didn't want to go back to the other group to get them to pay! Â (As if it was their fault that Pinstripes couldn't keep the bar tabs straight. Â I couldn't believe they would have even considered doing that.) Â After many weeks of back and forth (with them ignoring many of my calls) they finally agreed to credit us $500--far less than the $1200 in question and less than 10% of the final bill.
I was appalled at how they treated us, particularly knowing how much money we spend there. Â I will not be hosting any more events at Pinstripes.
Pinstripes is a great place to go to for a family dinner. Every time we go our kids eat well, play bocce ball and actually want to spend time with us. You can't beat that. The food is always suprisingly good. I don't think i have ordered anything I wouldn't eat again. The noise level is pretty high. They have a beautiful outdoor patio with a fire pit. It would be a great place to have a drink. Valet parking is free which is great because the parking isn't very good unless you go in the ramp.
Review Source:Our first experience last Father's Day wasn't great as the food was ordinary and the service substandard. I posted a negative review to Yelp and very, very quickly was contacted by the sales manager, Janna, who expressed her disappointment in how we were treated and offered to make it right. We took her up on her offer as we were considering having an event with 100+ guests upstairs in the banquet facilities.
Janna was impeccably professional but also didn't seem to be treating us any differently than she would have had we not had the bad experience. That was great as she wasn't being phony or putting on a good show for us. It was pretty apparent to us from the way she interacted with us that the bad experience we had was an anomaly. Their pricing initially looked higher than some other places we were considering but it wasn't as just about everything was included in the Pinstripes price whereas just about nothing was included in the prices we received from the other places. We decided to host our event at Pinstripes in and were also happy that it would be a lot simpler as we'd be able to deal with one person for the banquet hall, food, alcohol, entertainment, etc. and that promised to save us a lot of time and hassle.
All of our planning and interactions up to the day of the event were easy and professional. The menu and beer selection were attractive yet not ostentatious so we knew that our guests would be impressed yet not feel uncomfortable. We really liked the layout as the relatively quiet banquet hall for the older guests was very close to the noisier bowling for the younger guests.
The event was a real success. We received dozens of very, very complimentary remarks from our guests. The wait staff were always nearby and always eager to help yet never in the way. We would not hesitate to host another event at Pinstripes.
I've been here for a couple group events and I've got to say I was pretty impressed. Â Will I go here for dinner or a date night? Â Eeeeh, I'd rather go to a restaurant that's on my list. Â But this place is perfect for team-building and corporate group events. Â I think they even do a decent wedding business. Â Their flat breads and apps are above average, they have local beers on tap, and the outdoor patio overlooking the lake with the fire pit is awesome. Â I've heard they have live music too and great happy hour specials. Â Man, now that I type this all out I wish Pinstripes was closer to my house; I'd be there a lot.
Review Source:At first glance, Pinstripes feels like a place where cougars are on the prowl or quasi-hipsters who make a decent salary might congregate. Â I honestly believe it's a place for the masses though.
Buckle up, this review might get long-winded.
Cocktail prices are stupidly expensive. Â Pints of beer are 6,7,8 bucks easy. Â Ok, fine. Â They have a few decent ones on tap (decent by my taste being Surly, Fat Tire, Fulton). Â The bar service is friendly and fairly quick.
My dining experience was terrific. Â We had a medium sized (7 people) group with a couple of THOSE people who are a little... demanding? Â We're talking about the nicest people in the world here, but somebody who sleeps next to me every night (who shall remain nameless) just had to have some blue cheese stuffed olives. Â Oh, she got them. Â Our server was quick, patient, and knowledgeable. Â Wish I could remember his name so I could give him a shout out. Â He deserves recognition.
The food is wonderful for modest prices. Â I've had many things over the last couple of years and I can strongly recommend to you the braised short ribs. Â If you're a vegetarian, stop reading. Â I don't like you. Â Just kidding. Â Mostly. Â But they do have some great spinach ravioli. Â So there's that. Â Portions are okay, I certainly didn't leave hungry.
I've bowled there. Â Feels like I'm bowling in some millionaire's basement. Â Or what I'd imagine it to be like. Â Comfy couches, clean lanes, and FREE SOCKS. Â They are too small for my big ass feet, but hey - free socks.
The bocce courts are a cool idea, but SO limited. Â Maybe if I were more drunk I would've enjoyed it more, but they are basically 50 feet long and maybe 4-5 feet wide. Â A backyard this is not. Â I suppose it's functional enough though.
The location is great, right off of the GORGEOUS Centennial Lakes Park. Â Giant bonfire pits outside are a really nice touch. Â There are blankets available, too... but something about that creeps me out. Â Kind of like snuggling up with an airplane blanket - who knows what kind of drooly-faced mouth-breather has been slobbing on it. Â I'm mildly germaphobic though, so keep that in mind.
The end.
I was visiting my companies MSP office and they happened to be having an event here while I was there.
So we started in a large function/conference room for a business presentation which was a good space. The only issue was that they didn't have a large enough projection screen to make the presentation easy to read for the people in the back of the room. The rest of the place was very nice. They had giant fireplaces, cool sitting areas, plenty of space to mingle and some of the nicest bowling lanes I've ever used.
We were mainly on the 2nd floor and it was a nice setup with plenty of staff to cover the size of our group. The beer and drink selection was a lot better than I would have expected. Similar places in Boston typically only have macro beers, but this place had a good selection of craft beers. Then they started to bring out the food. They brought out an assortment of hot sandwiches, pizza and appetizers. The hot sandwiches were all pretty good. The pizza was hit or miss. The first couple types they brought out were really good and then they brought out some really bad ones. Overall though the food was pretty solid.
I think I could have done a better job serving the tables (and I've never been a waitress). There seemed to be no system in place on the complicated process of delivering food to the tables. Â I was there on a weekday and it was far from packed. Â There seemed to be enough servers/waiters; and even though majority of food orders consisted of bar food, the service was extremely slow. Â In addition, on 3 occasions different waiters came up to our table and placed food that we never ordered (one of them, trying to persuade us that it was in fact what we ordered). Â Then they seemed confused, wandering around the rest of the tables and trying to figure out where the order must go.
The restaurant/bar is relatively nice inside and has a bowling alley. Â They really should invest into training their staff though to keep up with the popular Edina location.
I've been twice now for the food, one lunch and one dinner - super fresh and super tasty each time! Between the 2 visits, and between plenty of puppy dog eyes as I begged my friends for bites to share, I have tried each of the following:
Chop salad with chicken - FRESH!
Italian wedding soup - TASTY!
Chicken and Goat cheese Pasta - TASTY!
Grilled Veggie Flatbread - FRESH!
Zabaione with berries - TOO FREAKING DELISH!
On the dinner visit, we decided we must go back with our teens and play some bowling or even bocce...seems like a great way to work up an appetite for the aforementioned yummies!
Took a group of 12 here for a Company Christmas outing. Like many prior reviews mention, the venue is impressive- cozy fire outside, large open space, great concept.
That was the good part, the only good part. The service was sub-par, in the bar and the restaurant. Our waitress in the bowling alley was extremely timid, and barely there. Â
The food was terrible. I ordered a Fillet Mignon ($34) I was surprised to receive a piece of meat (not a fillet in any way) cut into three slices. WHAT? I ordered it Med rare, it was Medium plus+ . The herb mashed potatoes were so overdone with stale dry herbs and salt I could only eat one bite. There was a wedge of what seemed to me to be Cinnamon french toast in the middle of the plate, next to three tiny sticks of undercooked  asparagus tied up by a leek, which was the main vegetable. Had we not been entertaining a group, I would have (and should have) sent it back.
We had desert in the bowling area - pretty much had to tackle the waitress to get a desert menu. I had the flour less chocolate cake, which was still frozen upon delivery.
After the party was over, the timid waitress sent a manager out with our bill. Although we had paid a $100 advance deposit for the bowling, and been told we had to spend $200 while bowling (which was hard to do while having to chase down the waitress) even though our tab came to $250+, they said we still had to spend more $$ to complete our obligation- that we were to spend $100 per lane and that the deposit did not count towards the total. They offered to box up some wine at menu price, or something else to help us get to that total. We explained the our misunderstanding, and that we had spent well of $600 in the restaurant- the manager closed out our check, but let us know we would be hearing from the Events Manager, to get the final balance cleared up. Really?
Definately won't make a return trip.
I love Pinstripes! I haven't actually done any of the bowling or bocce yet, but I have eaten here a handful of times and the food is awesome.
They have free breadsticks and pesto/olive oil dip which is AMAZING. I get full off of those and never finish my meal. The menu is diverse and have a good amount to choose from. I love the Grilled Chicken Panini and I also had a flatbread pizza that was delish.
Apparently you can also have wedding receptions here, which I think would be sweet. It's a pretty big place, they have an upstairs area as well with more bowling.
I noticed a lot of people have had bad experiences here, but I really haven't had any. We had a big group of work people for lunch, and our waiter rocked it. I was impressed with how attentive he was with 30 people.
I'll definitely be back!
The ambiance is nice and it looks like a nice place. Alas, looks can be deceiving. Perhaps the lunch menu was good as there were quite a number of people there. The entrees aren't worth the prices.
Our server was very inattentive and tried to lie her way through a question about the menu. She was also sarcastic when answering said question. If you don't know, just say so politely. Don't say you don't know and get snarky. Thats just unprofessional. I worked as a waitstaff once upon a time. I know it doesn't take a lot to do your job properly. Our entrees arrived not long after our appetizer did. The experience of dining on cold food isn't something I'm very fond of. Although we used a groupon, we still felt it was a waste of an afternoon. We definitely won't be coming back.
I bought a Groupon for Pinstripes 8+ months ago & to be honest, I was apprehensive to use it based off Yelp reviews. However, with an expiration date fast approaching, Ryan & I decided to go for dinner last night.
Walking in, the place is gigantic. There is a host desk as soon as you walk in but since no one welcomed us, we wandered around for a while trying to figure out where to go. Walking past the bar we found another host desk; THE desk we needed. The hostess told us there was a 15-20 minute wait, but since the bar area wasn't crowded, we opted to sit there instead.
I ordered the pear salad & the pulled pork sandwich and Ryan ordered the prime rib dip. Our food came out within 10-15 minutes of ordering it. The salad was so salty it was hard to eat. I've never thought a dish was over-salted in my life, so that should say something! The coleslaw was a little bland for my liking. The sandwich was good, not great. I enjoyed the fries a lot, though.
I tried a couple bites of Ryan's sandwich & thought it was good!
We had impeccable service from the moment we sat down to the moment we left. Maybe since it was a Wednesday night and not a weekend? I'm not sure. But the bartender/waitress who took care of us was amazing.
Overall, we had a good first experience here. It made me want to come back & try more dishes; my friend recommended the tenderloin sliders and gnocchi & yellowfin tuna dish that I'll definitely try next time!
Only tried the proscuitto and fig flatbread and I would return again just for that and some bocce! Give it a try, it will offer a taste explosion in your mouth! the sweet from the fig and the salty ham are paired well together.
It took a while to be able to play bocce. Â Next time we will call ahead and or put our names on the list asap, rather than waiting until after we had ordered food. Â
Another FYI, happy hour pricing on appetizers only applies in the bar and bocce area, not the dining room. Get into the bocce area then order drinks and apps at a discount!
Don't go for bocce as it isn't enjoyable on the concrete with out door carpet on top of it.
Bowling was okay, but since the couches are facing each other (the other lane) I guess it would be best to go with a large group. There really isn't enough room to get by the couch either so it ends up being a little awkward.
We had to walk up to the bar to get service when playing bocce and we had to wait for refills on beer while bowling.
They seemed to have some good deals on the bowling though. This is offset by the fact that they seem to close early.
None in my group where impressed by the food. We had the stuffed mushrooms which didn't taste like much and the pizza crust wasn't great.
After a wonderful first visit, I was really excited to go back but the return was a horrible disappointment. Â The food was so greasy I got ill, the flavors were odd and the vegetables barely cooked (and since it was brussel sprouts, that doesn't play well!) Â We ordered the s'more for dessert and the "homemade marshmallow" was soooo dense and sugary that it we didn't even try to finish it. Â I have a crazy sweet tooth and thought it was disgusting.
Then we had a groupon we'd already purchased for brunch and thought we'd give them another try. Â Again...soooooo greasy. Â Yuck. Â It's about $25 per person for brunch and it's greasy cold pizza, oily salads with flies on them, twizzler (YUP, they had twizzlers on the buffet) really oily omlettes (fresh made grease, even if you ask for less oil) a little bit of fruit and not much more. Â I'm done. Â No more chances! Â Brunch included juice or a mimosa. Â other bev's not included.
UPDATE: Well kind of an update. Â I had some email exchanges with someone at the place, and it ended with loose ends that made me feel like the person I was corresponding with wasn't fully paying attention. Â I was all set to go back and give them another shot, and after the odd email situation, I just wasn't ready to brace myself for the possibilities. Â I've gotta be in the right mood to give a place another shot.
Quality of bowling lanes: 4 stars
Quality of food brought to bowling lanes: 3.5 - 4 stars
Quality of service in the restaurant: 2 stars at best
Quality of food in the restaurant: Sadly, 2-3 stars
Minneapolis manages to disappoint again!
I've been to Pinstripes on several occasions - a few times for corporate bowling / food and a couple of times for the restaurant. Â I stay at a hotel down the street so convenience is key and it's a nice change from the other restaurants in a 2 mile radius from the hotel...
Before you go try to enjoy your slightly decent, likely luke warm dinner, know this - the service sucks. Â It sucked last time I was there and I assumed it was new kid, new menu, new something...Tonight it still sucked and now there's a pattern and it's annoying because it's not that cheap, the atmosphere is decent and I really think the standards should be higher. Â
I went back for dinner tonight with a group and the first three of us to arrive ordered drinks and appetizers right when we sat down. Â We also asked for fresh bread. Â We got our drinks very slowly (3 iced teas, not rocket science) and repeatedly had to ask for bread before the apps came. Â I guess the "we're hungry!" response to "how's it going?" when we sat down didn't ring a bell for the server.
The hummus platter was yummy, but the meal and service went downhill for the rest of the night.
My friend's chicken was cold, he sent it back, the pasta came back steaming hot and the chicken came back room temperature.
Another friend and I ordered a pizza to share and 2 of our other friends were sharing pasta and salad. Â It didn't occur to the waitress to bring plates, so even after asking for them, we gave up and got them for ourselves from a nearby table.
We sat with empty water / iced tea / wine glasses for an unacceptable amount of time. Â The server repeatedly came by but didn't notice until being asked for a refill. Â
I don't appreciate the lackadaisical waitressing style, but if you do, Pinstripes might be your place! Maybe you could even work there!!
The food isn't terrible (especially if you like room temperature chicken on your pasta :)), but it's not that great, either. Â I have enjoyed the few corporate events that I've been to at Pinstripes, but the restaurant either needs to hire more senior wait staff or train them better - they're quite bad.
There is one thing you might need to ask yourself before entering Pinstripes: "Am I a yuppie?". Â Pinstripes is a beautiful upscale place, but it is also absurd. Â There are a million hostess desks, but no signs to indicate what each one is for, I wandered around like a lost puppy for quite some time. Â
Even though I was only getting take out, I had to wait at the bar for fifteen. Â I wasn't offered anything and was ignored by every bartender. Â Final straw was that every dish we got that night was gross. Â Major let down, and overpriced at that. Â The only reason I might consider going back is for $1 bowling after 9pm.
On a side note, I had the scariest elevator ride of my life in the parking garage here!
I love this place! The atmosphere is great, whether eating inside, or outside by the bonfire with the view of Centennial Lakes, it's really great.
The food is delicious and not your typical "bowling alley" fair. They have a full Gluten Free menu as well, where I have had the roasted chicken with risotto twice, and each time it was delicious.
Parking can be tricky in the lot, as it fills up fast with nearby businesses, but there is a full ramp that connects to Pinstripes and the Container Store.
The first time I came here was for a yelp event which was excellent, but in all fairness I am not including that in this review since I reviewed the event separately. Â
I've been here a few other times and always leave a little disappointed. Â Walking in, I always have high hopes; I mean come on, the place is pretty nice. Â An upscale bowling section, nice bocce ball courts, tons of places to lounge around including a large patio overlooking Centennial Lakes and fire pit. Â It fits well with the Every Day I Need Attention folks. Â
The areas that always disappoint me are price and food. Â Bowling can get expensive. Â I think we paid close to $40 for two games of bowling for the two of us. Â If I recall, bocce is even more expensive but you don't have to rent shoes so maybe it's about the same. Â
The food is "Meh". Â The menu is ambitious and looks pretty good but the execution is poor. Â On our last visit we ordered the Ahi tuna salad, mussels, and the shrimp, spinach and tomato flatbread. Â
Let's start with the salad. Â The portion was pretty small. Â I get it, it's a salad and should be healthy, but a $13 salad should have more than a tong-ful of greens and a few slices of seared tuna. Â Not only was it small, it wasn't very good. Â The salad portion was really salty. Â There were large crystals of sea salt all over the greens. Â Not even the lemon caper dressing could combat that. Â The tuna was not fresh. Â It was seared nicely but the dark, dull, dried out center was not appealing. Â
The mussels were a bit strange. Â They were on a bed of polenta which was smothered in some sort of red, oily broth, then all topped with croutons. Â The broth was too heavy for mussels and the polenta was just a slop of cornmeal. Â
The best dish was the flatbread. Â The shrimp wasn't the freshest but the crust was delicious and the tomatos were good. Â
I would maybe come back during their happy hour and get half priced flatbread pizzas, otherwise I think I've given up on Pinstripes.
Pinstripes has the nicest bowling alley I've ever seen. I don't like bowling enough to pay the big bucks to use it, but it is really  beautiful and cozy looking.
The whole place is very clean and attractive. I had a lovely dinner on the patio.
I started with a red wine flight ($12) and Hummus plate ($9), and they were both average. The hummus came with a big bunch of grapes, crispy chips, fresh toasted pita, green apple, and tasted fresh but mild....which is fine if you have some kissing to do later and don't want to be a garlic breath.
For dinner I had the Eggplant Parmesan ($12), which was excellent. It was like an eggplant lasagna, and more than enough for one person.
I topped it off with the flouerless chocolate cake ($7), which made me very happy. MMMMM It was delicious, and  beyond rich...which, you probably should be too, if you want to make a habit of hanging out here. It is very nice, though. Service was decent, and it would make a nice special occassion venue, or date night..
The first time I bowled at Pinstripes was for a Yelp Elite party in December. We thought the ambiance was awesome, and such a unique concept for a bowling alley. I couldn't wat to come back! I called to reserve a lane a few months ago, but was told they book up fast and you need to reserve your lane at least two weeks in advance (but I do appreciate the fact that they take lane reservations, even for small groups of four).
There are a lot of things I really like about Pinstripes:
1. Classy ambiance with comfy leather couches
2. No stinky stale smoke and booze smell
3. Great flatbread
A few things I don't like about Pinstripes:
1. The lanes are really dark so sometimes it's hard to line up where you want to throw your ball
2. The lanes are kind of close together so it gets a little cramped with the leather couches
3. It's a little pricey ($7 per person per game and $4 for shoe rental)
All in all, Pinstripes is a great experience and I will definitely be back!
It was a beautiful day in Edina and my wife and I had $40 coupon from the Strib for Pinstripes.
We entered the establishment and it was a large place. They had upper and lower levels. Outside they had a sweet fire going outside to warm you up if needed.
The menu was full of awesome options and we saw many pizzas go by which looked amazing. The crusts looked thick and doughy and faces were happy when they were delivered.
I ordered the Italian BBQ pulled pork and my wife got the soup. She really liked it and I had a few bites. Yummy.
The BBQ Pork came with some skinny fries with lots of parmeson and garlic on them. Amazing. The sandwich came with crispy onion strips on top which groped the sauce quickly. It was really good. The sauce was a little to sweet, I would have like some heat in it, but it was good.
We ordered the BBQ shrimp as an appetizer, which was about 8 small shrimp on top of a slice of bread with a real good sauce, but I was expecting about 20 big shrimps in a cone, but overall, it was good. The sauce was creamy, but it was good if not a little too salty.
The service was fantastic, they refilled drinks quickly and they had Surly Furious on tap, so this was a fantastic restaurant.
This place is horrible. Â We sat in the bar and despite their a very low customer/waiter ratio we hardly ever saw a server at our table. Â For all the staff they have you would think one of them would stop by occasionally to ask us if we needed another drink or clear the empty glasses. Â Their "specialty" drinks were bad to boot and way over priced. Â They are too sweet.
They had live music. Â The band tried to make up for quality with excruciating volume. Â It was very hard to hold a conversation. Â I asked the waitress to get them to turn the volume down. Â She said she totally agreed that they were really bad and way too loud. Â But she said there was nothing she could do.
We played Bocce Ball (our reason for choosing this place) only to discover that their courts are just carpeted concrete. Â At least put some turf down. Â And not once did someone come over while we were playing to ask us if we would like something else to drink or eat.
I would be shocked if this place is open six months from now. Â Don't go here.
I will never willfully choose to walk into this place again.
My friend chose this place for her birthday gathering, bringing in about 12-15 people. She chose Pinstripes because it's a new venue, and although Edina doesn't allow Happy Hour Drink Specials, a "Late Night Bites" menu is advertised on its website (<a href="/redir?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.pinstripes.com%2Flate.html&s=e92c02e4b9586b8d9da4922858db1c03fef0797b74131d998f3e11adf8b346df" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://www.pinstripes.co…</a>). Unfortunately, when we inquired about this menu we were first told it didn't exist, and after showing the waitress the website on a smart phone, were told that it was a "concept they were considering in the future." Seriously, that was the response we were given! We were told that the menu advertised on the <a href="/redir?url=http%3A%2F%2FPinstripes.com&s=7a492f92c750c5ce77dd368f553217b1772d480ee112f0318bec814e9fda8881" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://Pinstripes.com</a> website was an idea they were considering but had not implemented, and were expected to accept that as a legitimate answer. What's even more irritating is that the waitress was straight-up rude about it.
Aside from our frustration with the happy hour menu issue, both of our bowling lanes broke down toward the end of the night, and we were shuffled to two different lanes at different times in the middle of our games.
The idea of an upscale bowling alley is kinda cool, and the $6 drinks were to be expected. However, this place is a joke, and I would never consider returning unless it was for a work or birthday party, and I would put forth a lot of effort to get the organizer to reconsider in advance.
Pros: Â One stop shop for nice location, lots of parking, great atmosphere, friendly service, big variety of good food, and fun activities (bowling, bocce, and drinking/hanging around a fire pit). Â The place is fantastic for large groups. Â Have to say again, the atmosphere is really nice. Â It's upscale casual and modern; lots of space to move around and chat with strangers; and it's family friendly.
Cons: Â Expensive. Â Individually, the food, bowling, and bocce are super pricey for what you get. Â
Recommendation: Â To make this place a deal which it really can be, go at it as a group event. Â The cost is significantly reduced when you rent out an entire lane for the night and have them cater an event.
Was there as part of a work outing. Â Played bocce, went bowling, drinks and food. Â Bar service was great. Â There on a Friday afternoon from about 1-4pm.
Good beers on tap, good wines on the list. Â We ordered some apps and pizzas, and all were really good. Â Servers were all nice and prompt. Â No complaints. Â
Physical setup was also very cool. Â We were upstairs for games, and loved the views and setup. Â Comfortable chairs, good viewing, great couches.
Loved the second floor patios with bonfire pits, chairs and blankets. Â Great for chilling outside next to a fire in January, but still in the city. Â Will certainly be back during the day with kids for ice skating on the pond, then bowling and lunch/early dinner. Â Would also be good for later "grown-up" dinner and drinks.
Great addition to the area. Â Check it out, and park in the free attached parking ramp.
Not sure about this place. Had dinner reservations for 6 people at 7pm on a Monday night. Got there in plenty of time, and had to wait till 730 to be seated, only after having reminding the hostess twice that we were there as others who came in after us were seated sooner They offer a all you can eat spaghetti with meatballs and chopped salad for $10 a person on Mondays, which was a good deal. While waiting to be seated, we ordered drinks in the bar, Peroni and Blue Moon's. When we ordered the same thing during our dinner, we were told the had ran out. OK it happens, but when we were bowling, they had it again. WTF?
Dinner service was mixed. Food items came out of order and not enough plates etc were provided. We had to ask over and over again for the additional plates, silverware etc. One nice touch is that they comped the table desert. The quality of the food was OK, nothing special. I can not imagine what the experience would be like on a busy night
Bowling was fun, but expensive. $70 for a group of 6, for just 1 game and shoes is crazy.
For now, I don't see a repeat visit in my future.
Have you ever been to Pinstripes?...then obviously you're not a golfer.
If you are a local - think  suburban "Redstone" meets urban "Nomad World Pub".
If you are from out of town - think "classy Applebees" meets "clean bowling alley" with a side of bocce ball and a bonfire pit.
The area is great for a winter night out - Centennial Lakes has outdoor ice skating...but as of the date I'm writing, the ice is too thin. Â Plus you have Five Guys and this place all in one location.
The wine list looks great.
Talk about upscale "Dave & Busters" entertainment venue, minus the chaos and children (please, please leave your young kids at home for this night out)! Â The decor, ambiance and set-up of Pinstripes is some of the best I've seen. Â Come hungry and bored, you will most definitely leave full of outstanding food and have a great time. Â The varied options of seating and entertainment make each visit to Pinstripes brand new. Â Love the stone and wood decor.
The outdoor patio with an extremely large fire pit (read: 12+ people) and heaters increases the size of the space year-round. Â The view of Centennial lakes and great sunsets, valet parking and an easy access location round off the key points of Pinstripes eminent success. Â I will often recommend and attend Pinstripes!
