I have gluten and dairy allergies and saw from their website that Timberlodge had a gluten free menu. Â The menu is pretty decent, but the waitress was not very helpful in working off of it with me. Â I picked out the salmon with vegetables and a potato, but because of my dairy allergy cannot have butter. Â When I asked about that, she just suggested them plain. Â She seemed to have no idea what alternatives they might have, so that it wouldn't be so flavorless. Â We ended up deciding to go without the potato and just do a double serving of vegetables, and I asked if they had some oil to put on in place of butter. Â She said they did, but when my plate arrived they were just steamed without anything on them. Â I had also asked for the salmon broiled, as it stated on the gluten free menu, assuming they would add some seasoning for flavor. Â It came completely plain, and was the most flavorless salmon I have ever had. Â Â Fortunately, I had the good sense to hang on to my leftover balsamic dressing from my salad and just spread that all over my food. Â I am not a person that likes to complain and cause a fuss, so I didn't tell the waitress how disappointed I was.
Review Source:Went here over the weekend for a friends birthday. I must say I have had a better steakhouse experience.
To start, the atmosphere of the restaurant was just off. We were seated underneath an air exchange and I swear the air conditioning was on. It's 18F in Minneapolis and I had to wear my jacket almost the entire meal. I asked our server is there was any way to adjust it because it was uncomfortable and he apologized and said there wasn't anything he was able to do about it.
Now, even though we were at a steakhouse I opted to order a sandwich instead of the steak. I ordered the Prime Rib and Onion French Dip, and a loaded potato. Quite the disappointment. The meat reminded me of Steak-umm (if anyone still remembers that) and the aus jus had absolutely no flavor. The potato was very cold, probably in part to sitting underneath basically air conditioning. One of the people we were with ordered their steak Medium-Well and it came out Mooing still. I was however impressed that the server waited at the table until she cut it open so that she didn't have to wait to catch him again. That was about the highlight of how his service was. I went 3/4 of my meal without having my tea refilled, even after asking twice. It wasn't until they were clearing the table that I was asked if I wanted a refill.
Needless to say, I think I can get a better meal at Arby's than I could here.
