Great food, great atmosphere, great staff! So nice to meet the owners as they mingled throughout the room, taking time to help their staff and chat with customers. Nice to dine in St. Charles, where a group can select from a diverse menu of vegan, vegetarian, or entrees for meat lovers. Â Love the organic and local aspect! Â Next, we'll do breakfast!
Review Source:This place is right up there w graham elliot in Chicago.Portions are good sized. I loved the fresh beet salad with creamy goat chees and oranges. The truffled potatoes were superb. The short ripbs were melt of the bone. The lamb was cook ed thorough and accompanied by a great cous cous side. The highlight was the molten chocolate cake. Perfect as it can be.
Review Source:I've been back a few times and the food here is still yummy!
I've tried the polar bear roll (which is definitely a little spicy!), and the avocado lobster appetizer which is just divine! My favorites are still the shrimp and pork belly tacos as well as the crunchy shrimp and salmon roll. I keep ordering the "Green" cocktail because I loooove the combo of basil x strawberry, but I will definitely be back to try more of their cocktails, hopefully at the bar during happy hour. Last time I went, they had a chamber of commerce happy hour and if you put your business card in the jar, you could win some prize or something, which was cool.
Our server was really nice last time as well as the time before that, although still evident they're learning the menu which is totally okay with me, as I am still learning what I like here and what I LOVE here.
Only slight complaint...? They have signs everywhere in the dining area advertising the happy hour specials but in TINY, TINY fine print it states that the prices are only valid in the bar area only. I get that they want to advertise it, but why not make the text a bit bigger? I had made the mistake of ordering with the assumption that I'd be getting a drink for $6 but ended up paying $8.30 or something (which also confuses me as the menu states $10, but hey, I'm cool with paying $8 instead, lol.)
The manager explained, on my most recent trip, that the text looked much larger on the iPad when they were designing the menus....so I really hope they go and re-print those so that people understand BEFORE they order that they are not, in fact, getting the happy hour prices in the dining room. He did offer me a free drink on my most recent trip to make up for the server not honoring the happy hour price on a prior trip which was super nice of him!
Still my favorite place to eat in the area because everything tastes so fresh and the flavors are kick-ass. I hope that Sean H. tries their pepperoni pizza during happy hour this week. :3 Also I posted the dessert menu as  they haven't had a chance to put it online yet. ;)
As a city dweller, it takes a lot to get me past 170, much less over the river, but Prasino managed to entice me, and I was not disappointed. The food was terrific, our group of 5 shared several appetizers, entrees, and desserts so I had the chance to try many things. Â The food was outstanding, some favorites included the shiseto pepper, pesto salamon, and skirt steak. Â The fruit tart and molten chocolate cake were also outstanding. The restaurant has a great feel and I kept forgetting I was not downtown, definitely planning a repeat visit.
Review Source:My initial reaction to Prasino is "finally!" Â We dined here twice this week. Â We usually go into Clayton or downtown when we get a babysitter because we don't want to eat at chain restaurants or be surrounded by chicken fried chicken. Â We live 2 minutes away from Prasino, and when we heard that a new organic sustainable restaurant was opening down the street, we were cautiously optimistic. Â What a pleasant surprise! Â My husband can vouch for the old fashioneds, and I ordered a great glass of wine. Â The menu is innovative and very creative. Â
We ordered the lobster avocado app the 1st time, which was amazing. Â The 2nd time, we ordered the tuna tartar which was also fabulous and super fresh. Â For dinner, I ordered the pork belly and scallop tacos the 1st time and fish tacos the 2nd time. Â These were unbelievably great. Â So so delicious! Â My husband ordered the halibut which was super fresh, and the 2nd time, he ordered the short ribs which were also so great. Â
For dessert, the 1st time we got the gooey butter cake, which was disappointing actually. Â It was dry and not like the St. Louis gooey butter cake we all know and love. Â The 2nd time we got the chocolate molten cake which was amazing. Â The peanut brittle that came with it was mouth watering. Â We love this restaurant and just hope that St. Charles can get with the program and support this awesome place!
My husband and I tried Prasino for the first time last weekend, and we are already planning a return trip for this weekend! Â As someone who eats gluten free and vegan, I really appreciate the labeling of the gluten free, vegetarian and vegan items. Â That means I don't have to ask lots of questions to a server who probably can't answer them or sit with friends/family and eat nothing like I do at a lot of restaurants. Â This place has things that I can eat and that I want to eat (that doesn't happen often!). Â I also appreciated that Prasino has lots of options for meat eaters because that means other people will want to eat there with me, even if they do not share my diet. Â Combine that with eco-friendly and organic and locally grown, and I think it is perfect. Â Plus, they brew their own kombucha-how awesome is that! Â I don't know of anyone else in St. Louis that does this.
The wood grilled tofu was delicious. Â My husband, who thought he hated tofu, tried it and just loved it. Â He even ate my leftover tofu the next day. Â The kombucha was amazing too-we tried pomegranate and apple.
I don't go to St. Charles very often because there hasn't been anywhere I could and wanted to eat at. Â Now, I think I will be going there a lot!
My only disappointments were the only gluten free and vegan dessert options were gelatos-not too exciting and the gluten free and vegan options for breakfast look pretty limited.
Strange. That one word pretty much sums up my experience here. I think they might be trying too hard, and the outcome is just overwhelming. Also, if you like drinking when you go out to eat I highly suggest not choosing this place to do so. $10 per mixed drink, and you won't find anything you would normally drink here. I am all for creativity and organic stuff but the cocktail I had terrified my taste buds (it was called pokie something..?). Â My boyfriend wanted a beer, but quickly changed his mind when he saw the prices. The food was okay. I had the pork steak, my boyfriend had a burger. Both overpriced, and had strange touches to the dishes that we could've gone without. The managers hawk-eye everyone and stare into your souls, but whatever, they probably don't have anything better to do. The good thing was my waitress was pleasant, funny, and not overbearing.
If I was a rich, hip yuppie this restaurant probably would have pleased me much more.
Went to Prasino last weekend and will definitely return! Â Love the decor and ambiance. Â Upscale dining with reasonable prices and the food was outstanding.
Our party of four shared appetizers of tuna tartare, p.e.i. mussels, calamari and lobster avocado. We thought every dish was excellent.  I had the St. Louis pork steak.  It was very tender and flavorful and the jalapeño biscuit and apple slaw were delicious sides.  I also tried my husband's skirt steak...equally tender and tasty.  Desserts were yummy.
Service was great...friendly and conscientious.
Can't wait to go back!
I'm a St. Charles native trying to contain my excitement about this restaurant's arrival. Â It is a great place!!! Â I would say that the addition of a restaurant in our area that actually offers high-quality ingredients and organic food in a healthy, full menu makes me very happy alone, but this full package is a real treasure.
I've enjoyed breakfast, lunch and dinner. Late night on a weekday it was good, too. Â I think the weekends are going to pick up steadily and their patio will be a very popular choice throughout the warmer months. Â It will be a nightspot and offer an atmosphere that is unparalleled in our area. (So glad we have an alternative to Main St. AND the casino!)
Tried the lamb/beef Kefte app- excellent. Â Salad- awesome. Â Breakfast food? Well, maybe the best pancakes ever!!! Â Lamb sirloin- great. Â Hamburger and cheeseburger and quesadilla for kids- outstanding. Â Drink options are amazing....
There are many points to make about the quality food and service, all of the options and details here. Â Let's just leave it at this- (one of the top restaurants from) Chicago has arrived in Saint Charles. Â What's not to be excited about??!
I have visited Prasino-St. Charles numerous times and have never been disappointed! Their staff is friendly and helpful, the space is beautiful, they have an amazing patio, and their food is absolutely delicious. My two favorite lunch dishes so far are the Pork Belly BLT and the Short Rib Tacos (sooooo good). They also have a great happy hour from 3-7pm during the week-- $3 drafts, $4 wine, and $6 select apps. If you haven't already, you should definitely check out Prasino!
Review Source:We all know Monday's aren't always a breeze, so I'm chalking the pep in my step up to a weekend of great eats and sharing the secret with you Yelpers.
My husband, sister-in-law and a friend dined at Prasino on Saturday night. Upon arrival we were greeted by their friendly host-staff. The dining room is absolutely gorgeous--If you're at all interested in upcycling and using reclaimed materials, ask about the interior of the restaurant... it's fascinating.
As our starters, the table ordered calamari and lava rock shrimp. The lava shrimp weren't particularly unique (think dynamite shrimp), but the taste was great. The calamari was really interesting though. It was served bruschetta style and man, the flavor was amazing. I would have gladly taken that app all to myself and highly recommend it. For dinner, we ordered the skirt steak, short ribs, St. Louis pork steak, and lamb. All Were fantastic. I personally ordered the short ribs and I could have eaten them with a spoon the meat was so tender. Portions are generous. You won't leave here feeling hungry.
For lunch the following day (oh yes, we went twice), our table didn't share dishes, but I ordered the Prasino burger  which comes with smoked gouda, tomato jam and arugula and well, let's just say my mouth is watering as I type this... it was stand-out burger in my book.
To wrap this review up, I particularly love that they really focus on sourcing local ingredients and offer so many St. Louis specific items.
Run, don't walk, to check out this awesome new restaurant. Now we don't have to cross the river for some swanky ambiance, fun cocktails and amazing food. Â Everything here was top notch - the food (short rib tacos and the St. Louis pork steak were phenomenal), ambiance (amazing upscale bar area with TVs and music), and service (spoke with the manager, owner and chef - all went above and beyond). I will for sure be back...often.
Review Source:I'm usually more of a taker than a giver when it comes to Yelp -- hence this is my first review. Â But apparently this restaurant just opened this week. Â And it was really yummy. Â So I almost feel duty-bound to give an opinion about it. Â
I just flew into St. Louis for business a few hours ago. Â After getting settled into my hotel, I searched Yelp for "local organic restaurants" because that's what people from the Bay Area do when they have to leave the Bay Area. Â Prasino was near-ish and the food looked good on their website, so I went to check it out. Â I was not disappointed. Â Unfortunately (for someone looking for a more varied review), I ordered almost the same thing as the previous review (chorizo tacos and the pork steak). Â Fortunately (for me) they were both excellent. Â The four tacos were well-stuffed, tasted just right even though they were vegan, and could have been a meal all by themselves if I had been less hungry. Â But the St. Louis pork steak was where they really shined. Â It was so tender, it practically fell apart as soon as I threatened it with a knife. Â The pork also came with a fun take on a waldorf salad with french-cut apples, or at least I think that's what it was. Â
I wasn't terribly into the ambiance. Â It was dark with dance music playing almost (but not quite) too loud to have a conversation. Â But that's just my cranky-old-man side coming out. Â It certainly didn't undermine the quality of the food.
